You literally have no idea what anything will cost until you get up to the counter and they've already done it and then you are horribly dinged. Furthermore, today I find that the monthly anti-inflammatory medicine that I've been spending for six months now ($93.61 a month) directly refilled through them, I can get apparently get through their online store for $25 per month. Finally, on my departure today, they hand me a tube of medicine that is $30 for a simple lesion. It's really irritating to know that I could've spent so much less on this every month had someone simply had the courtesy to inform me that I could get it for cheaper online. But no. Let's follow the Almighty dollar instead. Everything is always so surprisingly - and offensively - expensive through SBVH.

Instead of just saying no and sending me to the emergency room they got the doctor out to come look at Romeo and let me know that he is OK and just pull the muscle in his leg. Healthy Pets is in a separate building across the driveway, where all surgeries are performed Yesterday I took Max in for his dental surgery. I was rather concerned about the anesthesia, so was quite relieved to receive a phone call after the surgery telling me that everything had gone perfectly. Several hours later I was able to bring him home having had two extractions. Aside from the spot on his leg that had to be shaved, when I got home and let him out of his carrier, one wouldn't even know he'd just had surgery. After 20 years at another vet practice, I'm so glad I moved my cats care to this vet practice. I've found the staff at both buildings, efficient, caring, and totally professional. I was given detailed written post op. instructions in addition to verbal instructions and any questions I had were patiently answered. For those that don't know Healthy Pets is the canine practice and surgery, while Oly Cats is where you take your felines for normal service.

We thought the initial (almost $600) visit was handled correctly: we got a health certificate, and they provided a written prescription for Clavamox, advising us to wait for lab confirmation before administering the medication. We got a call to start the 14-day course of medication, which we had filled at a separate dispensary before leaving the United States. Unfortunately, we later discovered Pinehurst *only prescribed HALF the required course of antibiotics!!!* We are now stuck in Whitehorse, Canada, having to postpone a long driving day to Tok, Alaska, to coordinate with a local veterinarian that was willing to provide us with the remainder of the medication we should've been prescribed by Pinehurst. We just needed Pinehurst to email the details and confirm the Canadian clinic had everything they needed to dispense the medication. Unfortunately, when Pinehurst initially emailed the Canadian clinic, they DIDN'T include the prescription details. Pinehurst also told us their clinic's telephone system would not allow them to make an international telephone call to the clinic in Whitehorse, leaving us responsible for correcting another problem Pinehurst created. Given the urgency of the issue and their responsibility for this entire situation, why wasn't someone willing to use their personal phone to make the call? The repeated lack of basic follow-through caused significant stress and disruption to our travel with a sick cat. Would not recommend if you need reliable care or cross-border support.

I gave 4 stars only because of being a "closed" clinic, ring a bell at an outdoor window and wait to get checked in, pet owners never enter the place. We recently had a terrible experience with the Kitty Klinic in Lacey…read more When my 11 year old cat was coughing about 7 weeks ago, I took him in to be checked and due to negligence and/or incompetence and/or errors, he was seriously misdiagnosed with asthma and was given prednisolone which most likely worsened his underlying condition. When I called them after 3 weeks because his cough wasn't improving, they said it could just take some time and recommended that I increase the prednisolone. We took him to another vet and by then he was already in critical condition with full blown congestive heart failure. We had to choose within a week between subjecting him to ongoing ER visits and daily multiple medications or euthanasia. We knew he would not do well in the ER, so we made the agonizing decision to euthanize him. If I had known then what I have since learned, I would have realized that the diagnosis was incorrect. How can a vet see a significant weight loss and an enlarged heart on an x-ray and make the diagnosis of Asthma?? A cough, weight loss and an enlarged heart are all common symptoms of CHF. They did not suggest an echocardiogram or any other tests or follow up care. We will never know what the outcome would have been if the correct diagnosis had been made initially, but it really couldn't have been worse. Because I couldn't be in the room with him, they couldn't ask me questions about his behavior, eating habits, or anything else that could have assisted with a diagnosis. Cats hide pain very well. How could they possibly get all the information they needed from the cat? In retrospect it seems unconscionable to me that they will not allow any communication with the owner while they are examining our pets. The only communication you can have with the vet is when she calls you. I have to assume that they are hiding something and do not want us to see what is going on behind their closed door. If you need care for your cats, take them somewhere else.

Even if I move back to that area, I won't be returning to Steamboat Animal Hospital unless I read a review that the poor front desk people are replaced with competent receptionists. I thought at first they just needed training, particularly with the unrecorded appointment but also with smaller items earlier that just seemed they didn't know better. Finally, though, the continuing incompetence reached the last straw. Vet there, though, was great and the care once I passed the front desk was excellent.

I've been With Steamboat 27 years. it was a great clinic when Dr. Murphy owned it but since it's been sold, it's steadily gone downhill. I've had several problems with them but at the most recent problems. I got a new puppy and had all recent spay and vaccination records from the rescue organization. I called Steamboat to bring her in to establish a new pet And get flea meds. Although they couldn't get me in for 2-1/2 months they wouldn't sell me or give me a rx for flea meds. But what finally made me leave the clinic was when my 6 year-old dog became seriously I'll. They couldn't get me in for 3 weeks. So I took him to urgent care. Urgent care wanted me to follow up in 10-14 days with my regular vet. But Steamboat still couldn't get me in. We went back to urgent care and again they advised me he needed to be seen by my regular vet soon to have bloodwork and xrays. Steamboat could only get me in several weeks later for a drop-in visit. Staff was rude and failed to call me back. I'd drive to Seattle to get him seen asap but fortunately I found 3 other local vets who could get him in immediately. Steamboat is not a clinic I would ever take another pet too and wouldn't recommend them to anyone who cares about their pets.

I have been taking my dog to various groomers for the past 11 years so I know how Long it typically takes for an appointment. They scheduled her at noon, which I thought was strange because typically it's a 9am drop off and pick up at 330pm. This place had her done at 230. 2.5 hours to groom a pure white giant fluff ball. I specifically stated on the phone, are you sure she is dry because she will stink if not fully dry, as she has an undercoat. They assured me she was almost dry and still in the dryer. This place was also an hour and 20 minutes round trip to get to, so we spent 2hr 40 to drop her off and pick her up today total. I even waited an additional 2 hours to pick her up after the phone call because I was worried she would still be wet, and sure enough, when I saw her I noticed her fur looked wet in multiple places. When I touched her, her neck was wet, her Jing legs were wet, her entire underbelly was wet, I instantly told them she is still wet. The man who worked there took her back to blow dry her further for about 5 minutes tops the brought her back out and said she is pretty done with the dryer, here you go and gave me my half wet dog. I came home, and spent another hour drying her off myself and not to mention hair flying everywhere after they charged me extra for deshedding. Honestly so disappointed and irritated that they did not care enough to do their job properly. It cost 70$ and I tipped 25$ so to have to come home and blow dry her further and brush her also for an additional hour was extremely unreasonable. I will not be taking her back here.
