My dog was traumatized and abused by the woman who owns this business that is run from her home…read more One of her neighbors warned me of her abusive treatment of dogs using a stick to beat them in the knees, and using high voltage shock discipline for training to the point they pass out and lose control of bodily functions from the pain. I didn't want to believe it, but just in case ... I arranged with that neighbor to let me spend a few hours at their place after dropping off my dog. Their home is right next door to this Excelon. I could easily see the business property and kennel and training areas through the surrounding border of trees. After only a half hour I saw the Excelon woman come out to begin "training" session. She gave the command sit to the small/medium size dog but the dog looked at her as if he didn't understand. She then touched him on the head with a large silcer wand that resebled a cattle prod and she laughed ... she laughed as he screamed in agony! After about 10 minutes the dog fainted from the pain causing it to lose cobtrol of its bodily functions. This made the woman angry, and she left then returned with a sheet of cardboard that she rolled the dogs limp body onto. she dragged the dog out of the kennel, then hosed the kennel down. Then she dragged the dog back inside and rolled him off the cardboard and on to the wet cement. I called animal control and got the run round about their only being one officer and that she would be out as soon as he could to investigate. I later learbed from the neighbor that the Excelon woman continues torturing dogs because she now does the training inside a large shed where nobody can get video evidence to prove the truth. If you love you pets do NOT take them to he Excelon in Shelton Washington!

She is the most well balanced, highly trained dog I have ever owned. She is with me at all times and behaves like a service dog should in public. We continue our training with Excelon to keep her skills sharp and training has always been professional and humane. They care deeply for the dogs they own and train and I would recommend their services to anyone.

As first time dog owners, we appreciate Leslie's attention to our dog's health and welfare, the reminders that a rabies or other vaccination is due, and if there are issues that we might want to watch... and because she's interacting with, playing with, and getting to know each dog well, her observations are truly valued. Each time we drop off or pick up our precious little one, we thank our lucky stars for Peaceful Paws and the owners!

She violated my right to privacy with my vet. Only to find out everything I told her was true. I did everything she asked and then she asked for more. One can only hope she treats the dogs better than their owners but I am not certain. One of her dogs seems very aggressive but she had someone in the yard calming him down to not show his true colors when I was there. I do not think he is safe to be around. I was not allowed to stay and observe for the first time my young pup was to be there. She thinks she is extremely smart because she was once a vet tech... not a vet.. just a vet tech... alas dumb and small minded people think they know it all....and think they have some moral and intellectual superiority. I assure you, none there. Use at your own risk.

Dr. Bart de Gols at Canine Evolutions understands dogs. Seriously. He is the total package and…read moreyou will not be disappointed if you bring your pup to him. Coming from the competitive dog sport world, and holding a degree in Cynology (the study of canines or domestic dogs), it seems Bart has been a passionate and lifelong student of the dog. Just google and see for yourself. Rather than "quick fixes", he dives deep to understand first and foremost, your dog. For example, understanding HOW your dog operates is fundamental to building a healthy relationship to him/her so that your dog does things WITH you (and not FOR you). This is the critical foundation which Bart builds upon in shaping the behavior of all the dogs he works with. It just makes sense. Since we brought our German Shepherd pup to him last year, we have watched his remarkable transformation around obedience to now protection work. And it hasn't just been him! I have learned so much through Bart's online resources, lectures, and important discussions. This has been so much fun. In summary, we have discovered in Bart, a rare combination of practical expertise, scientific understanding, and authentic compassion and advocacy for dogs. We cannot recommend him more!

Once a week got him on phone & told he would email or call...none of either. Phone won't accept voicemail, no response to text. There are 4 of us who compete in events listed on his website with two of us who have tried to nail him down for training, with being left feeling he has no interest. One has been trying for months. Having to go with somebody else to train with after well over reasonable amount of waiting with no attempt from Bart to return contact. Blows my mind how a trainer can just ignore multiple long term clients who are looking for somebody to train with closer to home. Will look at him again if he surfaces. But we have dogs in need and competitions upcoming and can"r afford to sit and wait to see if he surfaces. One of the group has already been with Scott Haywood w Centrailia Pet Resort, I'm going to sign up tomorrow as he has followed through with getting back, setting prices, and setting concrete schedules.

Before driving an…read morehour, I called ahead to confirm if they had birds for adoption or if it was just a supply store, as I was specifically interested in that. The guy I spoke with said yes, they do have birds for adoption, but didn't clarify much beyond that. I assumed it would be like a Petco-style place where you can meet and adopt birds. When I arrived, I was shocked by how dusty the store was and how poorly maintained the cages looked. The birds' habitats seemed depressing and unsuitable -- definitely not the kind of environment where birds should live. When I asked about adopting a bird, I was told flat out, "THEY ARE NOT FOR ADOPTION." I was confused because didn't I call to ask that? And they said yes? Then I asked, "Neither of them?" He said only two types of birds were actually available for adoption, and those were the same birds you can find at Petco. If I had known this, I wouldn't have driven an hour I was specifically interested in African Grey parrots, which they had but not for adoption and since they are not available at Petco, I thought they would have one there for adoption. We were looking at the birds and we were never told "if you are interested in adopting these are available" which I would've appreciated. I decided to go to Petco after which is 5 min away from my house! and got a jenday conure bird there. Anyway, I ended up buying some sunflower seeds for a bird I already have at home, but he wouldn't eat them, which was weird because those are his favorite. It turned out the bag was expired, which explains why. Overall, this place felt really poorly managed, especially regarding the birds' living conditions. They desperately need better habitats that allow the birds space to stretch their wings and have a more natural, healthy environment. I do not recommend this place.
