I have been coming to GVS for several years now for all our dogs needs, and I must say I am just as impressed with the professionalism and thoughtfulness that I received years ago from them, and I still receive the same commited service today from Grays Harbor Veterinary Clinic. The staff is very caring and doctor Sonya is an excellent veterinarian and I would recommend this veterinarian clinic to anyone. I have seen where they will go out of their way to help customers that aren't even patients of theirs. That is what excellence and caring is about. I have gone to several clinics here in the area before I came upon GHV clinic. Sadly I was given a misdiagnosis from my then vet and was given treatments on my rottweiler for Cushings disease that she didn't have and pills that she didn't need to take. I ended up going to GVS for an emergency with my rottweiler as my then current vet said he didn't have time to see ElizzaBear until the following week and I couldn't wait that long due to the "Cushings disease". That is when I learned from Dr. Sonya, after she performed multiple tests on ElizzaBear, that ElizzaBear did not have Cushing's disease at all. I was extremely upset about dosing my dog for something that she didn't need. She is now gone but never forgotten. You can imagine my surprise and needless to say, I have been with Dr. Sonya ever since for all of our pets' needs and that was many years ago. I also had another misfortune with another clinic that charged me $50 per pet just for a nail trim. That's completely unacceptable and outrageous! I never went back. It's never fun leaving a bad review, but I've been here twice and turns out it wasn't a one-off fluke. For reference, I've had cats in my home the last 13 years. I've moved between three different states and had about five vets in that time. More if you count a few emergency vet visits. I have NEVER had to book a second appointment because of my cat's temperament. My first visit to this office was in Oct 2025. They have signs posted about not serving pets that get agitated, including possible sedation for services. My cat was there for a swollen leg, and was not happy to be there. (And please feel free to enlighten about any cat that enjoys the vet.) He was five at the time and the previous vet never complained about his temperament. This vet, however, was standoffish with him. Her name is Dr. O'Connor. Thankfully, we got through the appointment but I wasn't impressed with her hesitancy to provide service. Fast forward to today, April 2026. I brought both my cats in for their annual wellness exams. They each needed updated vaccines. The tech came in first, checked their weights, and confirmed the services we needed. (Which they don't have right. The thought only one cat needed shots but they both did.) The vet comes in without the vials for shots and made a comment about not having them prepared yet. The first cat goes up and does fine. No shots administered while he was happy though because they weren't in the room... Now the second cat goes up and is not as cooperative. Thankfully, she managed to give him his shot. Now it's time to bring the first cat up again and he's getting defensive. As cats do at the vet! (At least in my experience) She tells me I'll have to bring him back for a "tech appointment" for the shots because he's agitated. His "kitty minutes" as they call them are up. -_- We waited 20 minutes to be seen, then the vet comes in without everything she needs to facilitate the appointment, yet I have to pay a secondary appointment fee now because of the office's negligence and poor bedside manner? My cats behaved how they always behave at the vet and it's never been an issue. It's seems like this vet and certain techs are uncomfortable around animals, frankly. Maybe they're new to the field? Idk I moved to Elma from Lakewood which is why I switched vets. I would rather make the hour drive one way to my previous vet in Tacoma with two cats in tow than deal with this office again. And moving forward, I will. I did book the tech appointment because my cat needs the update on his rabies shot, and I don't want it to be delayed any further. Ultimately, I will adhere to their policies but it's just not the type of service I'm looking for in a vet. I will say, to their credit, that the appointment was originally scheduled for the week before and I had to reschedule last minute. (The cats are indoor outdoor and got out while I was at work. Came home to an empty house) They were very nice about it, and I do recognize they could argue I wasted their time first. My advice - go the Union Ave Vet Hospital in Tacoma and see Dr. Plevinskyi. My 2 adult (21 & 24) kids took our 12 yr old Chihuahua in as he was vomiting blood. We were obviously terrified. Aside from the almost $1000 for the visit and meds etc. I have to say the veterinarian S. Wilkins has THE WORST attitude & bedside manor. Told my daughter our boy may need an $8000 surgery. When my daughter said we cant afford it she was told "we'll then he will die:. And at his follpw.up visit this am she told my kids being sarcastic how they were "really great pet parents" WTF!? Some background, we have a 10-year old Belgian Malinois named Halona. Her old Vet retired over 18 months ago. He was never afraid of her barking and just tapped her nose to get her to stop. So this brings us to yesterday. So our dog needs a Rabies vaccine booster, and my wife told them about our dog . Her nervousness in unfamiliar and new environments. They Said no problem, so she paid the $72 pre-paid office visit. We showed up at our scheduled appointment 4:30pm and the technician walked in and per norm my Malinois barked at her. Looking horrified the technician couldn't leave quick enough. So after another 15 minutes, my dog was wanting to leave. This is now 45- minutes past our scheduled appointment. Another woman opens the door and peeks in, odd right. Didn't introduce herself, and Halona Barks at her. Her very first words she said was were going to need to sedate her before we can continue. I thank her for her time and we left the building at 5:25 pm. If you're scared of a barking dog then tell your customers before taking their money. read more

I would rate a zero if allowed! If you are looking for a place that demands sedating your animal prior to being seen, this is the place for you. Worst place ever! How they can even call themselves professionals is beyond me! Last time I checked, animals are animals and behave as such, especially in a new environment. That is why people go to school and get licensed in the field of veterinarian medicine because supposedly they understand animals and their behavior! Can you imagine if all hospitals, emergency rooms and clinics for humans demanded all "difficult" patients be sedated before being treated? First of all, impossible because the nature of being human! Second; infections and broken bones have a tendency to make us agitated, and we may behave in a way that is not our normal! This is true of animals as well! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. This is the most unprofessional facility I have ever come across, and I question the ability/license of Dr. Wilkins and her staff. I suggest you and your staff find another profession if you are uncomfortable around nervous animals or animals in pain! Pet parents bring their beloved pets to get services for many things like vaccinations, emergent needs, wellness checks because they are being responsible and want the best for their fur babies! However, what is not responsible is medicating an animal unjustly! This should not be a standard of practice! All medications have side effects and should only be prescribed when absolutely necessary, not for ease! Shame on you! read more

I took my lab Shepherd mix there as a puppy, and they were perfect. Took the time to get to know him and calm him down a little. This time the vet tech was nervous and made things weird. My wife left work early, sat in a room waiting for 30 minutes, and then was told that henervous. Lol. I guess 16 month old lab mixes are a feared breed. So she put a muzzle on him, and since he growled at the way he was being handled they sent him away. What a joke. read more

Fantastic service first visit with my 5 year old doodle. We went early to make sure we were prompt for our appointment and found the staff amicable for several methods of waiting! We toke the pager and gave my boy a walk around the large yard. When we were notified, we were shown into a very clean evaluation room. The veterinarian and attendants were very kind to my pet, gaining his trust. I would highly recommend their care for anyone's pets! read more

I bring both my Balinese-TC and my Yorkie-Piper to this clinic. Dr Crawford and her staff are the best. I have no complaints about the care provided to my 4-legged family members. She treats them as she would if they were her own. It is not only her, but the staff as well. We are greeted when we arrive, called by name and seldom have a long wait time-or if an emergency is happening with someone else's family member-we are updated on the wait. I love the reminder call and especially the day after call which the clinic provides. (They should pass this on to human clinics!) Not only do I bring my current ones here, but have used this clinic for some time now. If I could wish for one thing, it would be to have them open on a weekend once in a while. I tried to reach out to an emergency clinic one time during Covid closures and was unsuccessful in getting an appointment in Western Washington or even the Portland area. It was a good thing the illness passed without the loss of my pet. I can't provide a greater recommendation to any other pet clinic than Grays Harbor Vet and all the staff here. All they want is money! We have been going to this vet for 10 years. He was always so energetic and playful. Recently he has been getting old and has not been doing so well. So we figured to take him in. They told us he has fluid in his lungs. This was very devastating ofc course. We have always loved this vet for shot before but ever since they got new owners and management they have been off the rails. Such high prices and that's not even the point. They told me and my mom when we went into the vet that she needed to see his pill bottles because she didn't believe we were giving them to him. Wow what service! Then pre-seated to tell us we don't give our dog water. What in the world. They are very rude and don't take well care of pets. Dont go to them at all! In fact don't waist your time to even try to get an appointment. They will just charge you and leave your pet sick or dead! Please don't waste your time for a vet that won't care for your pet. read more

Many life-long locals (from Ocean Shores to Elma to Raymond) in Grays Harbor, referred us to Grays Harbor Vet Service...are we ever glad they did!! I was put on hold while they checked with the clinic staff only to be told they were at capacity for the entire week. I have had four cats in at Grays Harbor Vet, three of which were elderly and had to be put down. One had feline kidney disease for a year and I depended upon GH Vet regularly. I will be specific about the vet I have preferred in the past, and that is Dr Sonnya Crawford. Experience, sincerity, calm and compassion are ever-present. She has helped me through two of the hardest pet illnesses and losses of my life. I would put my animals in her hands without reservation. The Vet Assts (Yay, Courtney and Danica!), Vet Techs, flat out everybody on staff, is caring and organized. The new building is clean, attractive, more comfortable and expansive in the lobby and provides a private mourning room to be with your animal when hard decisions have had to be made. In certain sitituations, pagers are provided to owners on arrival if your animal might be contagious, is afraid of dogs, anxious, or immune-deficient. Your pet is not as exposed to more illness or exposing others while you wait for your appointment--I have never seen that kind of forethought in any human or animal care before. Some other vets may come and go out of any practice but I believe Dr Sonnya may be the owner, and everything she does shows experience and pride in her business. UPDATE: I had to visit with an ailing kitty this morning and got to meet their newest replacement vet, Dr Hines. Very impressed with her way of handling cats--not all vets are clearly as in tune or as compassionate towards felines. She was very hands-on, which is rare when a lot of vets handle cats. Very happy with the listening and attention we received. It's nice to know that now she and Dr Crawford are there. We needed to go in at the last minute and reception was very helpful in getting us in asap. By the way, did I mention that they have a coffee area for you while you wait? read more

We had been searching for an Avian vet for our chickens for sometime, when we found GHVS, for once it was nice to not hear it's just a chicken. We had an emergency with our head hen, they got us in fast.. Even when she died a few days later, they were compassionate in how they handled her remains, she was a family pet and was treated as such, which I appreciated. read more

Dr Lacey is incompetant! After telling her that my dog had been exposed to salmon, she said that she was not worried about salmon poisoning. In fact, she said she was 99% sure the problem was leptospirosis. After a week in their care, my boy had withered to nothing. He was there because he hadn't eaten in 3 days and had horrible liquid feces. They hadn't fed him in the week they had him! I took him to the ER beacause GH Vet were obviosly making things worse. They were my vet for 6 years! After $12,000 and a LOT of pain and suffering, he got better to everyone's suprise. ( Thanks so much to the people who actually know what they are doing.) After more than a month of in home extensive rehabilitation, further testing confirmed he was finally shedding the salmon titers! That's right, salmon poisoning after all. And I was told that he had to be on a certain type of antibiotic to continue the purge. Meaning, the antibiotics that GH Vet had given him MADE IT WORSE! Instead of $500 and an easier recovery, it was $12000 and my boy will continue to have hard days for the rest of his shortened life. Thanks so much for doing the worst things when we needed you most! YOU ARE SO LUCKY THAT I AM NOT SUE HAPPY LIKE YOU WERE AFRAID OF! such as when you told me that your under age employee hasn't signed a waiver for the pictures I took of MY dog. read more
