Give Me Paws - NOT a Scottie head trim!

I had spoken to make an appointment on Monday to have my Scottie's head trimmed…read more I explained that I was stripping his jacket but, due to my disability, I cannot deal with trimmers. I said that I wanted to have his head trimmed into a Scottie head from all his hair. Whomever I spoke to told me that that would not take very long and decided to schedule it as a "nail appointment" It does not take someone who is proficient very long to do a Scottie head trim as one is just trimming cheeks, ears and a little on the throat and cutting eyebrows. I should have realized I was not dealing with someone who was familiar with Scotties when she asked how big he was. When we went in for his appointment, much to my horror, I discovered that it is also a pseudo dog care and there were loose dogs in the grooming area. I let her know that my dog is not to interact with other dogs and, while she did pick him up, three other dogs were able to interact with him. NOT a desired event for a service dog! I should have left when, as she was looking at him, she told me that he looked just fine for a Scottie head trim. NO, he currently looks like a Westie, not a Scottie with very hairy cheeks! She took a look at the grooming book then decided I needed to make an appointment. I DID make an appointment and was VERY specific about what I had and what I wanted. I did not say anything this morning that I had not said when we spoke! I appreciate your call to apologize.

I was a long-time customer of Friendly Grove and trusted them with my dogs for years…read more Unfortunately, that trust was broken after a grooming appointment where one of my doodles came back unable to walk. My husband had to physically carry him out of the vehicle. When I contacted the business, I spoke with Maddy at the front desk, who reassured me that my dog had not sustained an injury while in their care. However, I was not present and was never shown any video footage or documentation to support that claim, which left me with serious concerns about what actually happened. Months later, I received a brief email asking me to update my information in their portal. I responded honestly and shared how unsettled I still felt about the previous incident. Shortly after, a staff member called and said they would be happy to schedule grooming appointments for my dogs since they hadn't been in for a while. However, when I arrived to pick them up, I was told that my dogs were not actually scheduled for grooming but that they "accommodated them anyway." I was then informed that Friendly Grove would no longer be grooming dogs at all. The entire interaction felt incredibly confusing and dismissive, and it came across as though they were simply trying to push us out as customers. They offered a $120 credit for that service and essentially told us to find another groomer. My dogs had been going there for years, and $120 doesn't even cover the cost of a single grooming service. After years of loyalty, the lack of transparency, accountability, and communication was extremely disappointing. I expected far better treatment from a place we trusted with our pets for so long.

I have not been disappointed at all. Friendly Grove is very clean, the staff have always been nice to work with, and Tilly comes home tired when she has a day of play. I would recommend Friendly Grove to anyone looking for a place to leave your canine family member.

Even after filling out forms in their office at drop off, they still messed up our boarding. This place has been trusted with our baby, but now not feeling it. The…read morereason I can't give 5 stars and why I probably won't be returning are just inconveniences on my end: Their meet and greet will expire in 6 months if you do not use their services for that long, and you must repay the fee of $30. The $30 does not get you a free day of daycare like many other facilities. So if you board infrequently (like me) you have to repeat the process everytime. I also think some wording on the website needs to be changed. On the FAQ for boarding, it reads to bring food in a "a re-sealable bag as kibble oxidizes quickly which results in substantial nutrient loss." Most places want the food in something re-seable for the reason stated in the quote, however this isn't the reason I was told at drop off; their reason is due to convenience for the caretakers. What they mean to say is food MUST be *pre-measured* *per meal* and *individually* bagged in ziploc bags otherwise there's a fee. This was not told to me until I dropped off my dog with her sealed food container and measured food cup. They then said it would be a $15 bagging fee. I did receive a text before my dog boarded that I can go over the email about boarding reminders however I never got any emails, my confirmations were done through text with an email receipt sent at the end of her stay. No big deal, I didn't think much of it because I got confirmation/reminder texts of her stay and I had read the website/FAQs multiple times to make sure I did not miss anything. I don't even own ziploc bags because I think it's wasteful and I don't like surprise fees because this information should've been readily available on the website (even if that information was in that missing email). I was about to run down the street and grab a $1 box because my dog was only staying 3 nights, but a different worker than the one checking me in overheard and helped me out, so that was appreciated!
