We had been trying to adopt a dog in Seattle for months with no luck, so we decided to make the trip to Hoquiam. I am so glad we did. Nanette is incredibly kind, genuine, and knowledgeable. The patience she showed us went far beyond what we expected. She spent the entire time with us answering questions, sharing training advice, and helping us get to know the dogs. We originally came to meet one dog, but ended up meeting five, and I am really glad we did. What we expected to be a quick 10-15 minute meet and greet turned into more than an hour. We were able to play with several dogs, talk with multiple staff members and volunteers, and really learn about the personalities of the dogs we were meeting! One thing that really stood out was how much everyone at North Beach Paws clearly cares about the animals. While the facility is not a large brand new building with fancy equipment, it was clean, well maintained and the animals are very loved! Also, for my fellow thrifters, they have a huge Saturday garage sale / thrift market that helps support the rescue. There were great prices and a lot of really cool finds. If you're in the Pacific Northwest and looking to adopt a dog or cat, I highly recommend checking out North Beach Paws!

The site for the dogs could be a cleaner area. Water bowls outside were not cleaned out. The front office? area was over run with supplies. I think this shelter has the heart and soul to help get the animals their forever home, but might be lacking in volunteers and staff?

6 years ago, I adopted my two cats from these great folks. The best thing I liked about it is that…read morewould not release them to me until they could come out to my house and see where they would live and how they would be taken care of? How good is that? They actually care that much where the animals are going and want to make sure they are not going someplace where they could be let outdoors and be harmed or living in a bad environment. To this day the company I work for and myself collect donations to help out their Cat and Dog shelters. I am so grateful there is a place like this that really does care about what happens what the animals leave their care. More places should take lessons from them. They find loving homes, not throw away money collection adoptions. Thank you for all you do, please don't stop. Thank you for speaking for those that can't speak for themselves. Jerry

We adopted our cat, Susie, from here around 2008. She was in one of the show boxes at our local pet…read morestore and I absolutely fell in love with her! During the adoption process we found out that Susie was around 1 year old and found as a stray with her kittens. She was almost dead from lack of food, but was continuing to nurse her kittens regardless of her own health. Once her kittens and her were returned to full health she was spayed, but her body reacted badly procedure and once again she almost died. The shelter kept giving her continuos care and once again returned her to full health, and that is when we found her. I cannot thank this shelter enough for caring to help her through her tough young life and not giving up and euthanizing her. She is a great cat and I am so happy to have supported such a great shelter! Give this shelter a look if you're looking to adopt!

I was able to add my sweet new family member back in August thanks to Homeward…read more The people are truly all so nice and the facility is extremely clean. They have put a lot of thought into providing the best care for dogs; music in the kennel room, private rooms for dogs that need them, prioritizing special needs dogs getting into foster homes and out of the kennel environment They even go above and beyond by spending time training dogs and puppies in their agility room. Their social media pages follow a few of the same dogs which just shows the dedication the members at Homeward have to maximizing the amount of people to see their adoptable pups. The quality and the passion truly show at Homeward. I am grateful for my dog and the people that took such good care of him at Homeward when he was there.

I've been to several shelters in the past year to adopt and it's been up and down. I went here on a Saturday after work and brought home my fur ever baby girl. I'm a proud happy fur mom . This is the happiest day of my life . I cried so many tears of joy when I was able to adopt my new female dog. I named her Sasha. Previously known as Oldsmobile. Sasha is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Sasha is what my heart needed. As a puppy she is very smart. Introducing to crate has been fairly well. Eating wow this girl can eat, run, do sprints around the house, yard and is super excited. I am too lol. Potty training is going very well in the morning she wakes me up with kisses to say she has to go and stands by door we go out. We have a routine. Totally recommend Homeward Per adoption to everyone. You will never be disappointed. The accept donations from you if your pet has passed away, been surrendered or you just want to donate, food, toys, supplies for dogs and cats. Well, I could continue to give praises all day. Gotta go mommy duty is calling.

Paws of Grays Harbor - Fresh from the shelter and ready to go quazy. Thanks for helping me and my babies. Signed, Siersha

Aberdeen seems to have a stray cat problem so if you're looking to adopt a cat with up to date vaccinations that has been spayed/ neutered this is where you want to go. Be honest and up front about what you're looking for in a cat (big difference between a barn cat and a family cat) and they'll help you find the right one for you.

This is a depressed area with a lot of need but don't let that keep you away from adopting and volunteering yourself. The veterinary care when we adopted our two separate adult kitties in the past 3 years was very good. Animals were well-socialized and exercised--yes, even the cats. Our sweet Harry had been there for nearly a year (or more), formerly named Sonic. He was about 3 years old. This shelter doesn't put down their oldest and most unadoptable cats. There were some extremely aged cats (and probably dogs too), particularly a sweet lil Manx who was able to roam freely. It felt good to take Harry home and open up his world--but he would have had no world to enjoy at all at some shelters. A previous adoption at PAWS of GH was of a teen mommy who had been caring for her babies under a trailer. Just a slip of a thing but healthy, she was super ready to finally have her own childhood in our home. They have both been a joy and comfort--and got along like best friends immediately. Though the animals were not chipped by the shelter, regular veterinary exams were done, immunizations and flea treatments were done properly and there was an exit visit, flea treatment and claw clipping with the vet tech before we signed the papers and left with our new family members. There was also a built-in trial period. The facility is old but clean. Anything anybody could do to help, I'm sure, would be of high value. We will come back to adopt one day, but hopefully not too soon. Thank you, PAWS of Grays Harbor!
