Long review alert... bottom line... this company makes verbal promises and assurances that they…read morecompletely disregard. If you're looking for storage, you'd be better off looking elsewhere. When I was looking for storage for my small business in June 2025, I visited Prime Storage in Eldersburg and asked for one 10x30 unit. Since none were available, I was offered two 10x20 units instead. The initial price was well outside my budget, so I politely declined and explained that my maximum budget was $500 per month. Jeff, the District Manager, then offered several discounts, and we ultimately agreed on two units at $252 each per month. I didn't actually need the units until August, but over the next few weeks I received nearly 10 phone calls encouraging me to sign the lease early. Eventually they offered July free, so I signed and moved in during the last weekend of July. In September, I received a notice that my rent would increase by 40% per unit effective October 1. I visited the office, as I was encouraged to do, and the increase was waived. I was told that if I ever received another increase, I should simply come back to the office and they would adjust it. The same thing happened again in December. Another increase notice. Another trip to the office. Another adjustment back to my original rate. Then in February 2026, I received yet another rent increase notice. By then I was extremely frustrated. I agreed to a compromise of a $15 monthly increase per unit after being assured that my rent would remain unchanged for at least a year. Just two months later, I received yet another increase notice. When I called to speak with the District Manager, I was instead contacted by a "General Manager" from a Virginia Beach location. He told me this increase would be the last one for the calendar year. I asked for that promise in writing, but he refused, saying it was "company business" and not something he could provide to me. Instead, he claimed he would place a special note in my account and assured me it would be honored. Because of these repeated increases, I was forced to consolidate from two units into one simply because I could no longer afford the cost. Last week, I opened my inbox and found... another rent increase notice. My biggest disappointment isn't even the rent increases themselves--it's the repeated promises that were made to get my business and then broken afterward. Every time I was assured that my rate would remain stable, another increase followed shortly thereafter. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience. If you're looking for storage and value honesty, consistency, and keeping commitments, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

It was Bookstore Movers' excellent customer service that earns them 5 stars. The 3 movers showed up early and worked very quickly and efficiently. In that haste, some items were damaged and I offered that feedback in the follow-up survey. I quickly received a call from the company offering to discount my move and send Walter Davies, a furniture repair person, out to make furniture repairs. That concern for customers and making things right earns Bookstore Movers 5-star service. Walter Davies was excellent and thorough in repairing my furniture. If you have a move coming up, call Bookstore Movers. Lisa C.

We were disappointed with our recent experience with Bookstore Movers. The crew was polite, but the…read moremove felt much slower and less efficient than it should have been. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.
