4.5 out of 5 stars Generally, the moving experience was fine. However, like a lot of moving companies they have absorbent fees that are only mentioned after the move. The fuel/transport fee was above average especially given the move location was only a 2 miles distance. They added an extra mover the day off bc we have stairs. Though that was their decision, we were charged above the quoted rate for the additional person. I paid cash, which gave us a 10% discount but with all the extra fees, the 10% isn't much of a savings. I still tipped and nothing was broken or damaged during the move. They also arrived on time and helped taped boxes that needed additional reinforcement. Boxes were placed on the appropriate rooms based on the labels. I would hire them again but would budget for 15-20% more than what they quote. read more

The worst moving experience of my life. Took them over 10 hours to move me into a two bedroom apartment. Scratched up furniture, broke items & stripped nuts/ bolts during reassembly. Leaving most items unassembled and taped or boxed up. The lead mover even threatened and did leave unfinished because I asked if the bolts on my bed were being stripped, as I could hear the drill stripping them. Then attempted to charge double what was quoted, charging me extra for an additional mover I didn't request and for unnecessarily used tape. They literally wrapped tape around a mattress and taped up sofa pillows and charged me an additional $165 for packing supplies used. But somehow managed to scratch up my entire dinette, chairs included. Giving them 1 star is being generous; there is nothing professional about them. read more

Abba Moving's professionalism impressed me. I spoke to a knowledgeable and personable representative, Lior, who asked me the right questions. I had a good idea of the items and number of boxes to be moved. The rates and timing was explained clearly. The quotation cost was comparable to others I received. What made the difference was that there was immediate follow up by email with a written quote: number of men, travel time, estimated labor time, listed items, and estimated price. (None of the others did that.) Our move was mostly boxes and some big furniture items and required dropping off some boxes and chairs at a second location near the main destination. No problem to do that. When I called to ask if a piano could be added, again, no problem. The original quote stated 3 men would be available. On moving day, 4 men showed up (no extra charge). They were well-prepared, efficient, and very polite. They handled all of the items with care. Certain items required padding and they did that on-site. Excellent care was provided for a mirrored doorfront we had not documented beforehand. They finished the job in less time than estimated. At the destination, they positioned the furniture as requested and removed padding and trash. This was a great moving experience. 5 stars. read more

Our crew from Abba was fabulous! My girlfriend and I needed them to move our two separate apartments into one and they did that in the time window they'd estimated for us. They were on time and quicker than I had anticipated getting stuff safely from a third floor walk up with steep stairs. They wrapped our furniture more securely than I ever have moving it myself and showed a sense of humor and generous spirit when they had to end up parking the moving van in my back alley, due to parking on the main street. (5/1/2015) I spent a lot of time looking at moving companies b/c for one reason or another, I move almost every year. WE are long past the have your friends over and move your stuff stage of life so were the only real option. In 2013, we used movers and had a very very bad experience. At that time, we learned how much control movers can have over ruining your day and how little control you have. Based on our previous bad experience, we wanted 2 things: 1) A contract that clearly stated any foreseeable fees- mileage, time alloted, what they would or wouldn't move, whether they would "HAVE"to pack certain things to move them or were we allowed to, etc 2) decent Better business bureau grade w/ RESOLVED complaints (if any at all). We got lots of quotes and everyone said the right things...2 man job vs 3 man job, yes we are insured, oh yeah it will be great and easy and cheap and of course we will show up with the right amount of people and work hard and not break up all your stuff. But when i started checking BBB ratings, most fell more than just a little flat...like D's and F ratings. Oddly enough, Abba had good yelp ratings, good BBB ratings AND there was a Yelp discount (nominal, but something). They showed up (a big deal for us since our last movers failed to do that). They had 2 guys and a foreman...3 very nice respectful strong healthy guys who didn't take smoke breaks on our time or drag their feet. They wrapped up our stuff they way they liked to for easier moving while they worked. They didn' move certain fragile things if we didn't let them wrap it their way but they were all things we didn't want moved in a moving truck (big screen tvs) and they were very respectful about it. They were fast but not in a way that lead to our stuff begin damaged. They rolled up our rugs and put stuff down in the new place how we wanted it (kind of awesome). They showed up when they were supposed to. They didn't haggle w/ us about the price. They accepted our coupon. They did their jobs. For movers, they were spectacular. read more

Our needs were simple, but very important - we needed a crew to 1) wrap a few pieces of furniture, 2) make an inventory and 3) load a 20' container for export. Everything went very smoothly and in a timely manner. The "icing on the cake" was the following email from our customer: "A shout out to Abba Moving for the excellent loading job done by 3 of your men, loading our Israel-bound container. These workers were extremely polite, respectful, kind and accommodating and made what could have been a stressful day into a worry-free experience." I just moved using these guys this past weekend and they were absolutely the best part of our move. We hemmed and hawed between moving companies and ended up choosing Abba. (My husband "had a good feeling") They were top notch with communication: following up, answering all my questions and concerns, spending more time than probably necessary on the phone with me going over our inventory, and confirming everything. Day of, we were given a 9-930 arrival window. They didn't show up til 950 but the apartment IS downtown and there was a big accident on 83, so who knows what contributed to their lateness. It didn't really matter though, within 10min of being at the apartment they already had items in the truck. These 3 guys were quick, efficient, and careful with our belongings. Did I mention we moved out of a walk up? 57 steps, each way. Not one complaint during the entire move. Completely polite and professional the entire time. They arrived at the house and had the truck unpacked in an hour. These guys were like the most gentle tornado ever. They never stopped. Not one break. We had a case of water on hand for them, and let them have as much as they wanted, but they drank as they moved. I asked them to place the items in one spot, then asked them to move to another. They smiled and assured me it was no problem at all. (Genuine smiles, too. Not like "Im smiling because I cant smack you" smiles) Again, completely polite and professional. In the end, the move ended up costing us $300+ LESS than what we were quoted, a direct result of these guys banging out this move like a bunch of animals. I had a question about the final cost (moving brain confusion) and I emailed them thinking I would hear back from the office on Monday; Abba responded immediately. I hopefully wont be moving again anytime soon, but if I were, Abba would certainly know about it. 100% recommend Abba for your move. read more

I just used these guys to move from Sykesville to Towson and OH MY GOD! They are the best. They are efficient and organized and can move pretty much anything. Also? As you know... moving is stressful and these guys are funny, and nice, and a great to work with. I highly recommend them. I gave them a list of all my things, they gave me a quote and at the end of the day, what I paid was near enough to the quote that it was a non issue. Credit card fraud started the day after I paid my bill by that card. May be a coincidence but I would not use a credit card with this company or definitely check carefully your next credit card statement. I have advised my credit company. Right after I told the men I could not buy them pizza because I was not familiar with the area, I gave them my credit card for the move. $47 and then $23 worth of pizza was then placed fraudulently on my card, notice keeping the amount under $50they did not have to sign for it or show identification. I reported Mr Lior to the BBB for padding my bill. He lied unbelievably on his response. Do not talk to this man unless you have a witness. In fact, do not talk at all, do everything in writing. The crew was dishonest too. If you cannot have at least one or two witnesses with you the day of the move to keep an eye on the men do not let them in. If they do anything that concerns you ask them to leave and do not sign anything. Call the police if you have to to get them to leave. Reported Mr Lior to the Better Business Bureau. He of course lied to them. But he refused mediation because he knows he is in the wrong. He doesn't care because he probably told his men to pad the bill. He specifically takes advantage of women. I am a senior and disabled, easy prey. He refused to cooperate with the Consumer Protection Agency because he knows he is in the wrong. He knows I have pictures of the trash that was packed and labeled fragile. He is not at all concerned about consumer complaints because he will just threaten you if you complain. Do not be intimidated go on line and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Other consumers should be protected from this kind of treatment. Hopefully someone with more resources will take him to court. I am also hopeful the police can confirm their credit card fraud and I will press charges. read more

I have moved with ABBA twice - they moved me from Columbia, MD to the Park Heights area of Baltimore 3 years ago and now they just moved me from Park Heights just down the road to Mt Washington. The fact that I used them again is a very good sign. I had done a great deal of research and I was not disappointed. For the first time they were on time, efficient and reasonable. The actual movers were very nice and did a great job being careful with things so nothing was broken The most recent move was a rush order. I had an ugly flood at my old place and needed to relocate very quickly (3weeks!) In the planning and booking of this move I worked with David who was kind, professional and helpful. When I needed to postpone the move because I hadn't found a new place yet they were patient and understanding, and when I did re-schedule he didn't charge me a second fee Because I had to move so quickly I hired them to PACK and move me. Because this was necessary I hired four men at an hourly rate to do the job. The final price was over $500 more than I expected but David and I greatly underestimated how long it would take to pack. When the actual bill was calculated the packing materials (boxes,padding and tape) was well over $250! (I have a large two bedroom apartment) Their prices on boxes are high so if they pack you I recommend you price around for boxes yourself and tape was $5.00 a roll so if nothing else go to Staples and get tape first... Better yet, pack yourself if at all possible to avoid the hourly rate and materials. The movers were very nice and did a great job packing things (nothing was broken) They demonstrated their best work loading up and emptying the truck which they did efficiently and professionally - they also never complained about (or even mentioned) the fourteen steep steps up to my new place ;-) The crew chief, Arnan was especially helpful and easy to work with I would highly recommend them to anyone for moving but think carefully about having them pack you as this took even more time than the load & unload combined and greatly increased my bill. read more

After reading so many horrible reviews of moving companies, I was very wary of all of them. A friend recommended Abba and my experience could not have been better! My phone consultation was very thorough and helpful. The crew of Alfredo, Cris, Roberto, and Erick arrived on time, were polite and friendly, and most important of all were very careful with my things while being efficient and finishing ahead of schedule. This was SUCH a better moving experience than with the movers I used a few years ago. Wayne was the team leader and he was helpful, attentive, and went out of his way to show me broken or loose items (and even to help straighten my new house railing). The rest of the guys were great to work with, too. One old chair arm is broken but it was wobbly, a few dishes (my faulty packing), and they had to change time from 12 to almost 2 but that worked for us since we had plenty to do! Abba required two trips to complete my move from an apartment into a house. A neighbor who had been watching the process stated that movers were loading the truck "loosely," and could've fit more stuff in the truck and would have only needed one trip. This lie resulted in a higher payment as they charge extra for multiple trips. Furniture was squished through door frames, tearing off frame moldings and refusing to replace them. Other items were carelessly handled, bumping and rubbing against walls of the new home, resulting in scratches and markings on the walls. Boxes marked fragile and "this way up" were poorly handled and the special markings were ignored; boxes specifically marked for one room were left in others (e.g; bedroom boxes left in kitchen). In response to Lori D. of Abba Moving: I am not a scammer. I am a member of a household that used Abba Moving in December 2013. My name would not be on any contracts with Abba Moving because, again, I was only a member of the household and not the head of the household. These guys moved me twice. Once from Pikesville to Rockville, once within the Rockville area. Of all my stuff, they never broke a thing. They're hard workers and quiet, even on the hottest days, and give you extra guys at no extra charge if they think your move is beyond what they initially quoted you. They will charge you additional for moving materials (boxes and tape) on the day of. Also, be prepared for them to bang up your walls in your staircases. Overall though, I'd use them again. Especially since they're cheaper than a lot of other movers in the DC area. read more

I could not have been more pleased with Abba Moving! This was my second move in one year, so I was able to draw on my recent experience with moving. One year ago when I moved, I chose to hire a mover based solely on price. I wouldn't recommend that! Although I am sure the experience could have been worse, it certainly could have been much better: small damage to furniture, broken glass on one picture, marks on door frames, scratches on floors, etc. This time, I narrowed down my choices to only those with an A+ rating with the BBB. Of those, Abba Moving's estimates were better than most. The night before my scheduled move, I received a call telling me the approximate time my movers would arrive. On moving day, I received a call from the movers to let me know they were en route (they had to travel over 1 hour to my location), and to tell me what time they would arrive. They arrived exactly when they said. I had a crew of 4 men, led by Peter, and each one was extremely professional, polite, and accommodating. They wrapped my furniture such that not a single blemish or 'dingy' resulted on my furniture, or on any of the door frames, or walls. They placed all furniture carefully in the new location....not a single scratch on the wood floors. When items of furniture didn't fit where I had planned, they were accommodating with having to move it to another part of the house. They were thorough, friendly..... and extremely strong! They made it look easy, even though it was in the 90's while they were working. They were all so positive and were very hard workers. I would strongly recommend them, and if and when I move again, Abba Moving will be the movers I call! read more

We moved from Frederick to Germantown Md this week and called around to get estimates from several companies. Abba was by far the cheapest...usually I assume you get what you pay for, but based on the reviews here, and the fact they have an A+ BBA rating I booked them. The guys were awesome and very quick. Nothing in our house was damaged, they wrapped the furniture and moved it all safely. Needless to say we are very pleased with them and would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Phenomenal experience with ABBA Moving!!! This was my first moving experience ever and I was totally satisfied. ABBA (specifically movers Milton and Carlos) exceeded my expectations and eased the fears I had after reading reviews for other companies. For starters, they were on time. The confirmation stated they'd arrive between 9-9:30a, and they arrived at 9 am. My roommates and I were a bit leery as to what to expect, seeing as though the night before and into the early morning we had about 3 inches of snow and ice. However, these conditions did not deter ABBA and the move went on without a hitch. They handled our items with special care and even offered to move more items than what we identified in our move estimate. They provided excellent service and were very respectful and professional. They even went out of their way to shovel the ice off of our steps at our destination. Our estimated moving fee was $340, which included traveling fee, fuel, moving blankets, etc. Our actual moving expenses ended up being $407 due to the additional fee for shrink wrap, tape, and tax. This was to be expected and I was certainly happy that the price hadnt increased outrageously. Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend ABBA moving. This moving company did not communicate well, did not follow instructions, stole some of my boxes and is holding them ransom, stole my food, dragged my furniture on the concrete, used one of my blankets for a drop cloth to walk in and out of the property, left trash inside and outside of both properties, damaged furniture, opened boxes and bags to see what was in them.They did not wrap the furniture or pictures either. Everything was covered in debris when delivered. Most things were just put where they wanted without asking us where they belonged. They stated they are holding my boxes until they get paid which they already have. Sadly they have stolen every pair of shoes I have as well as legal papers, memories, photographs, medications, etc. DO NOT HIRE THESE MOVERS! A piece of advice for anyone moving. Mark your boxes with your name, address, contents and number them. Check the truck before they load it and before they leave and you sign anything. Do not sign anything until you have checked all of your belongings for damage. read more

I had a great experience with Abba on my recent local move. Wayne and his team were very courteous and professional throughout the entire move. They were scheduled to arrive between 9 AM and 9:30, and the truck pulled up right at 9. I was contracted to have 3 movers, and there was a 4th man on the team that I was not charged for. They got our job done in just under 4.5 hours, worked hard the whole time, and were always sure to check with me on what to pack, where to place etc. I'd highly recommend the company to any friends or family. Wow were these guys great, they showed up early and worked efficiently and hard all day long. They took extreme car of all of my furniture and valuables without them this would have been a horrendous day. I used Abba Moving for a short distance move within the same town and was not satisfied with their services. Most of my furniture ended up with dents and scratches despite the short distance they mere moved. They completely damaged my bookshelf ( I guess they had placed a much heavier item on top of my bookshelf in the truck) . They would not offer any discount off the price despite the damage. We had moved the same items from out of state earlier without any damage. I think most of the damage took place in the truck due to the careless manner in which the items were placed and transported. Of the three crew members, only two seemed to take their job seriously, the third guy was not very professional. We will not be using their services again. read more

Abba Moving was great to work with. They stuck with us when our dates and times for settlement kept changing, which caused us to have to keep calling to reschedule the movers. I was worried that we had too much stuff for the truck, but they packed it up with room to spare. They stored our stuff overnight and then arrived early on delivery day to get us unpacked earlier than scheduled. The workers were courteous and friendly and when they saw how much junk the previous homeowner left in our new house, they offered to haul it away at a price that was much better than other companies who do that kind of thing for a living. I have no plans to ever move again, but if I do, Abba will be the first company I call. read more
