OMG! Natalie, one of the managers at this location, provided some of the best customer service I've ever experienced! She was friendly, professional, helpful, and incredibly resourceful from start to finish. She went above and beyond to make sure all of my questions were answered and that I had a great experience. I've had a very frustrating experience with the Self Storage Plus Gaithersburg location. I rent a 10x10 unit and pay close to $300 a month, yet the facility has been extremely poorly managed. One of the two elevators has been broken for over two weeks, and the only working elevator is difficult to reach because the entrance door to it is also broken. On top of that, three out of four vehicle gates have been out of service for more than three weeks, making access to the property incredibly inconvenient. Over the past three weeks, I've tried moving items in and out of my unit several times, and each visit has been a struggle. If you are looking to rent out a storage unit... i suggest you look elsewhere. Their customer service team was not helpful at all, the quality of the units are not worth the $60 plus dollars a month. We had booked a unit at the paramount drive location, we called to get the combination for the lock and they did not have it anywhere in their system and basically told me to go to the unit and figure it out, when we got there, there were items in there that did not belong to us. After the back to back issues with this company , we decide to just cancel and didn't even get a refund on it. Awful service! read more

No problem setting up rental of a unit. My mother gave the staffer on duty the (valid) credit card information needed for automatic recurring billing and we headed home. We came back a few days later with our 1st set of shelves, a new padlock, and a couple of boxes. There was someone in the office who explained that they leave rented units locked until the renter has a lock of their own & he let us in. We set up the shelves and made sure everything was locked. We then had to leave via the "emergency" stairs because the elevator had stopped working (stranding a group of other customers who were still trying to unload a large SUV). We could not return due to family circumstances until today, when we had multiple boxes plus a new 2nd set of shelves. We arrived just after 3pm only to find the office empty and locked with "back at 4" on the door. I grabbed a cart, loaded on all the boxes & new shelves, and when we got to our unit our lock was gone and it once again had a company lock on it. We went back downstairs with all our stuff and waited for staff to return and reopen the office just before 4pm. While we were waiting, a man parked out front & tried to get into the office, waited a few minutes, and left. Shortly afterwards, a young woman did the same, then left after speaking with my mother for a few minutes. Both had the same information we did stating that the office was supposed to be open. The young woman checked in the computer and it showed our unit -- the one we had put shelves in and locked with our own lock -- was vacant, and then she said "there is a note" showing we had "moved out" sometime earlier (no date given). She also stated "we do not move people out unless the unit is empty." We went back upstairs with her, she unlocked our unit, and it was totally empty -- our lock, our shelves, and the 2 boxes we had left were gone. We went back downstairs and she made a phone call to someone and looked through more computer records (which we could not see) and suddenly found a handwritten note on a piece of paper that said *she* had called my mother a few weeks earlier -- again, no date given -- and my mother had told her we were moving out. (I absolutely guarantee this conversation never occurred.) We left, after the staffer was unable to in any way describe who she spoke with, why "I called the number we have on record for you" was a call that my mother never received, or why our lock, shelves, and belongings had vanished when they "only move people out when the unit is empty." AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. We repacked the car and will NOT do business with this outfit again. read more

The facility has 2 elevators for all of these units. One elevator has been out of service for at least 6 months and the 2nd barely works. I've asked several times at the front desk as to the status of the repair but they never have an answer and are dismissive. read more

I stored my belongings there for the free moth promotion everything was fine until it cake time to leave I gathered all my belongings out of the storage about a week before 30 days passed it all on camera all my stuff being taken out before the next billing period I spoke with someone over the phone letting them know I will not be going into next month using the storage they said ok then I receive a invoice I went into store personally explained the situation. Again with a manager whom was a man this time he said ok your all set it is now 10/11 I am still getting invoiced for a storage I have no belongings in so o accord asked to speak with a manager got a very rude women who told me there is a shoe box in there I told her it may be trash I have been evacuated out of this storage since August she. Begins to tell me there is nothing they can do I can pay the 300$ for a storage I'm not using or it goes to collections and she is the only manager which is a lie I spoke with someone else I will be speaking to corporate immediately and over using this storage again I'm not paying 376 for a storage I unsee for 30 days and paid for already the women on the phone was very rude read more

Prices are gouging. Customer service is terrible. Once you have a unit they will stick you with price increase at least twice a year...anywhere from 10-15%. Made 12 separate attempts in two days for customer service and finally got a flippant call back from someone claiming to be a District Manager but only after I got very insistent with a nice lady in their sales area. Naturally when they thought it was a sales call she answered. Otherwise, forget it. They have you captive so why should they bother talking to you. They also have a very high turnover rate in their unit offices. read more
