Service: They say what makes a place stand out more is the service rather than the food and I 100% agree with this as everyone here was so friendly. From the doorman, hostess to the waiters. So thank you all! Ambiance: My group Sat in an outdoor/backyard area which was pretty nice and calm, away from the noises happening inside. The inside would be amazing during winter time and such. Food: The starters were the food highlights of the night. The Octopus was very soft and savory, easy to bite into. The Escalop, as if I was cutting through butter as the knife sliced each piece with ease and when you put in your mouth it just melt. Put both of these into the crunchy bread and spread it with the sauce the starters it would be a great combo. The crab cake was somewhat too fishy, the moment you put it in your mouth, you can taste the fish. Well for the main I was disappointed honestly, a Place like this should definitely do better, and here is why. The pasta was too saucy, like if it is drenched in sauce and then put on the plate. The lobster, cant you even take it out of the shell and put it nicely instead of bringing it like this. Had a birthday dinner there and was fairly underwhelmed. Restaurant is beautiful and trendy but that's about it. Had a long standing reservation for four and ended up being seated in the sweltering bar area. When we expressed our displeasure, they assured us that we would be moved as soon as something else opened up. They also offered us a free glass of champagne and a few free menu items. Honestly, I would have preferred a better table over free food but it was their offer, not my request. After about 1/2 of sweating in the bar we were moved into the dining room which was about 5 degrees cooler so we could continue sweating. Service was polite and fairly good but the same can't be said for our dinners. Short rib was good, not spectacular and the tuna was overcooked. Appetizers were good but again, nothing special. Dining in Manhattan can be hit or miss but at these prices dinner should have been better, the restaurant should have been cooler and they shouldn't have charged for appetizers that they ordered for us, which they did. I would probably return but definitely not during the summer. read more

I believe I've discovered the hottest spot in town! It was an enchanting evening, reminiscent of a vibrant night out in LA. The atmosphere was beautiful, featuring stunning rooftop areas and cozy balconies. Although it was a bit chilly, we opted for the inviting indoor seating. I started with the most unique cocktail called Aegean Silk, which set the tone for the meal. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and each appetizer was better than the last. I highly recommend the crab cakes; they were exceptional! One standout was the mushroom side dish--unlike anything I've ever had before--deliciously unique. And you simply must try the cheesecake; it's topped with an exquisite Greek cherry compote. Don't miss out on the Ekmek dessert either; trust me, you'll want to take a second order home! Parking was also easy ! And so many places open late night walking distance to Selene . Will be back for sure ! read more

Selene Soho is an elegant Mediterranean marvel that recently opened in the ModernHaus hotel spanning multiple floors with options including outdoor garden seating and a glass atrium lined by chic stucco walls. Their coastal Greek menu features polished appetizers and fresh seafood. The tiropitakia is a golden flaky pastry filled with creamy goat cheese and topped with caviar. The watermelon salad is perfect for the summer covered in feta cheese and topped with refreshing mint and sea salt. The saganaki is richly soaked in spiced honey. The wagyu carpaccio is beautifully plated with black truffle. The cocktails are on the lighter side but standouts for me are the Naousa Sour mixing rye and Greek wine and the Amber Coast mixing tequila, papaya, and lime. The showstopper for me is the massive black tiger prawn perfectly charred and cooked in olive oil. It's a bit of an adventure to cut the prawns off the shell. The tender short rib in orzo and goat cheese is very filling and flavorful. The service is friendly and refined. read more

We returned to our hotel after traveling via Subway to Yankees Stadium and decided to see if we could relax for a little before heading to our room. When we walked into the bar a gentleman greeted us and said they were closing soon, however we could order a cocktail. The female bartender behind the counter was extremely rude, made us feel unwelcome, and the cocktails we all syrup over ice. When we checked into the hotel, we noticed Selene and thought what a beautiful restaurant and were looking forward to dining there, however with our schedule we weren't able to fit it in and were happy to check out the bar after returning from the Bronx. read more

Overall had a horrible time in the establishment. It was my girlfriends birthday and we were hoping to have a great dinner at Selene SOHO. We made reservations ONE MONTH prior for 9 pm. We got there at 8:30 pm and checked in, but was NOT seated until 9:50 pm. It took 1 hour and 20 mins to get seated when we reserved a table for 9 pm. What is the point of a reservation if we are not getting seated at our respective time? There were no attempts to communicate that there will be a long wait, nor an attempt to talk to us and apologize for the long wait time. I came up to the hostess, Deeandra, after about 45 mins and she told me "there will be a long wait," and dismissed me which we found rude. How can a restaurant who aims for excellent customer service and hospitality hire such a rude and ill-mannered hostess? Also, some parties were seated before us even though they arrived later than us. I find it baffling that they also tell you to wait by the bar where there is literally no space and invasive of other people trying to enjoy their dinner. And when we finally got to sat down, we had to request for the menus which took 15 minutes. And by then, we were over it and left the establishment. The doorman was really nice though. The two hostesses, however, were not. When they reached out to us to give a review via email or instagram direct messaging about our experience, they respond to us with an obviously AI generated email "empathizing" with us with no obvious resolution at hand. We are absolutely livid that a restaurant such as Selene, with a great reputation, would treat their customers poorly and very unprofessional. read more

Starting with the positives: Both the food and atmosphere were incredible. Our server Sergio was great and made sure we had an A+ experience. Two things I would change: 1) The hostess Deandra at the front was rude. To me, that is something that is completely unacceptable when you are the first person greeting people inside the restaurant. 2) The bussers removed dishes from the table too quickly and mistakenly took things we were not finished with. DO NOT HOLD YOUR PRIVATE EVENT HERE! The absolute worst, discriminatory, and most demeaning service I've ever experienced in NYC. Went here for a private event for a big budget tv show where they had to have been paying quite a bit to take over the entire space. The bar staff was too small (2 bartenders on a floor with hundreds of people) so poorly managed with no bulk procedures in place, and was NOT capable of running an event so large. People were literally waiting 20 MINS for drinks. (I asked my friends what time they arrived and realized I had waited 30 mins eventually--if you're staying at a party for 2 hours and want to meet friends/colleagues throughout a huge space, you don't want to spend half of it waiting at a bar for service). Management should have had trays of premade drinks for people who didn't have complicated orders and just wanted a glass of wine. To speed things up I actually took orders from 5 friends around me intending to speed things up by making it easier for the bartenders to take one order instead of five. After waiting here for 30 minutes, trying to make eye contact with the bartender, saying "hi how are you?" to him, I watched him repeatedly ignore me, speak Spanish to other younger patrons his age and work slowly chit chatting. He helped about 5-7 people closer to his age and appearance, people with these complicated orders and cocktails that took him forever to make. He continued to ignore me, kept going around me, and avoided eye contact the entire time. I was standing AT the bar half of this time after initially waiting for long lines in front of me. Finally, he ignored me one last time and went to help someone who looked more like him who had showed up 15 mins AFTER me and had snuck in front of me! I should add... I was completely sober! This was to get my first and probably only drink of the night. So I know my experience was accurate. It was so bizarre and demeaning. Never in my life have I experienced this, especially at an expensive NY hotel. The management here needs to have better procedures in place for managing flow at large events at the very least... and standards for treating everyone equitably! read more

Overcooked chicken. Ruined my date night with my with. The replacement was done perfectly, but why send out a poor product in the first place. By the time the replacement arrived, my wife had finished and the sides had nowhere to go. It's a very expensive visit, and based on our experience, they flatter to deceive.
