a view of a restaurant with a buffet
Liann A.

Was on the search for dilis (deep fried smelt in Filipino). I went to multiple spots in this plaza and Selecta had some ready in their buffet food area. The worker allowed me to purchase all of them after lunch and he said if I needed more in the future I could order and give him 15-20 minutes. I like how fried and crispy they are and taste just like chips. They pair well with their house made spicy vinegar. This spot takes me back to a Filipino grocery, carendaria/sari sari store from the Philippines. They have a buffet full of food that I believe regulars go to. The food looked really good inside, like legit home cooked meal ands and ready to eat. It's out in the open and had tons of food for a Friday. I need to give it a try and experience it myself. They also have a grocery store area that doesn't seem too up to date but it looks like this spot has been here for a while. It's located in the Island Pacific plaza so there is plenty of parking in the area and can get busy.

Very delicious filipino food & very affordable buffet! $14.99 Highly recommended! Try this restaurant for sure you will love it!

The price is very reasonable for a buffet (I think $12.50 on weekends). It's not the best tasting Filipino food but for the price, it's alright. There's lechon, kare kare, dinuguan, pancit, fried chicken, whole salmon, pancit, monggo, and more. The only issue is, they don't refill some of the empty trays and the guest just have to make do with what's available.

My faves: sinigang na baboy, palabok, bistek and hella rice lol

Man, this is one of those places I haven't thought to review because it's second nature to come here. My family and I have been going here since it opened when I was just a child. The owner is always so nice and pleasant, talking to his customers, keeping up with them and their lives. I love buffets since the food is already there and available for when your starving and don't want to wait for your order. It's tradition to come here after church and for some reason, I'm always starving after church lol. I always look forward to sinigang and bistek here but unfortunately, sinigang is not always served. They alternate between sinigang and nilaga which I'm not too fond of. Although I understand they want to variate their selection, I have to dock a star for that. The grocery needs a lil make over but other than that, this place has never done me wrong and it truly is nostalgic to come here when I visit my parents in Vallejo. Definitely worth having a meal here when in town!

Friendly people, clean and who knew there is a restaurant right there in the grocery store! The food isn't bad ...the coffee, now THAT's bad but I would have been surprised if the coffee had been good. None of the buffet items are labeled probably because they serve traditional Filipino food and their clientele is return customers. It was not packed but got very busy and then not so busy then busy again. Then about half way through they wheeled out an entire roast pig! I thought that was really a great move and very generous. I do not eat pork but my friend did and he says it was great. Fresh traditional Filipino food, friendly staff in a very surprising spot and the price is very reasonable. I say check it out.

When I arrived at the plaza, I walked around, saw Ihaw-Ihaw (a "roast meats" place), then just walked on to see a "Buffet" sign.

Like to get ripped off? Love wasting your money for…read morerelentless overpriced products? Most if not all no longer price labelled? Then go to El 2 de Oros! There it will be your chance to empty your wallet quickly with totally overpriced products! We where out of milk so I went to get a quart as we live around the corner on Alabama St. I gave the cashier a $5 bill but was stunned when I got only 49 cents back! $ 4.51 for a quart of milk???? WTF!? So for a gallon you "need to get a bank loan"? I asked and the cashier confirmed. I said NO! Not like that! I'm not paying artificially greedy inflated prices like that! We can do without. The buck stops here! The store manager had to be called as I wanted a refund. I told him that all grocery stores in the are, even overpriced Safeway charges far less for a quart; $ 1.98 and al their products are price labelled. He snapped back: "Then go buy it there!" Thanks! I will! I'm done with you! I know "El de 2 Oros "for over 15 years and it used to have price labels on products and fairly reasonable prices. Not anymore! Since the Covid hysteria --which they still practice by running around in masks-- They no longer label anything and their prices have gone through the roof. Carpe Diem, greed is good? Milk & bilk? I once got slapped with almost $ 30.- charge for a few apples and oranges! So a couple of years ago I suggested to the store manager to do at least a price range labeling as it would give buyers a fair chance and decision and not get sucker punched once the cashier rung all up and then having to wait for an refund/exchange process. Nah, to much work... I'm done with them! As a consumer, a client and I have the right to know the price of items before and not "after the fact" purchase!

My grandmother came home shaken up over the blatant discrimination and racism she faced at this…read morestore. She asked an employee if she worked there and if she could help her find something, to which the employee dismissively replied a stern "No." to both, without even making eye contact with her. The employee was stocking meat in Safeway uniform. To not be rude, my grandmother went to another employee and asked them to help her, and the employee stated that the woman that told her she didn't work there would be able to help her. My grandmother goes back up to the employee and asks why she lied. The woman continues lying, saying "I never said that. I don't remember saying that." Then goes "I thought you were like the rest of *them.*" My grandmother is very hurt by this, as she did nothing to warrant that. No one does. She asks for the manager to file a complaint, and he was even more dismissive. He listened to nothing my grandmother had to say, then stated "I'm not going to write a report on this so you can just leave." No help, no worry, no care. Two random customers began antagonizing my grandmother to take the side of the manager/employee, and the Safeway staff did nothing. They ended up calling the cops on my 72 year old grandmother, for trying to buy meat. I don't even have words. Everyone in this situation share the same race, some sort of Latino, and I believe that is where the tribal, racist, and defensive behavior came from. Everyone else in the store was very kind towards her. It's tragic that in 2026, this repulsive behavior is still ongoing. We are all the same, we bleed the same, laugh the same, live the same and die the same. Race should never matter or be a focal point. Deciding to discriminate against someone over their voice or skin pigmentation is a sign of a lower IQ if you ask me. Maybe that's why they're in their 30s/40s working at Safeway. My family will be going forward with a lawsuit. Happy New Year! :)

Yes I know I am ashamed but it brings me happiness. I went to foodmaxx and the veg was lacking today, the greenbeans which are normally in a box were nonexistent, the broccoli which I "fought" a lady that was plucking florets was alright but I just feel slighted after everything. I moved over to the steaks (the reason I was there) and found some thick chuck steaks and made everything better! It never amazes me in today's corporate business world that some companies just don't care and then…read morethey wonder why they go down the drain. Today I went to a local FOOD MAX that I've been going to for probably 15 years. It was a very nice store. Well put together well stocked. The employees are always wonderful then and now, but what I do see is a huge lack of management! I come from a corporate world and I've been in the grocery business as well as many other businesses. I have never ever seen the manager walking the floor here ever since the takeover and they turned the store into what looks like Food 4 Less in some ways, the store has gone downhill. The good thing about the store is That they have a wet produce rack the manager that was there prior. They shipped him off to Fairfield or Vacaville and they brought their manager here so now they both get to commute makes a lot of sense but the produce people are always working hard over there stocking the rack. Today I was there about 11:30 on Monday 10/13 . There was one check stand open the place look like a bomb went off. It felt like a freezer inside. I happen to go into the bathroom and it was absolutely disgusting. The place is falling apart the only good thing about it is the employees They work hard and probably don't get recognized quite the disgusting RETAIL scene. I can see they are understaffed working on a shoestring budget and once again you never see the manager walking the floor talking to customers or seeing what needs to be done which is the number one thing every day! It's not our job as customers to babysit these retail establishments. We don't need to kiss their ass. It's the other way around the retailers need to take care of their customers make it a wonderful experience rather than who cares about anybody experience.. and if you notice on these evaluations, they'll be somebody which is usually their webmaster it always says that they're sorry and please give me another chance and we'll make it better next time or some BS like that. There is no other next time it should've never happened and all you're trying to do is blow smoke up us. It's your job to make this place enjoyable profitable look good and make it a good retail shopping experience the management here, absolutely fails. I went into the men's bathroom. There are three places to go to the bathroom when it's in good working shape two out of three of the stalls had yellow tape, blocking it off similar to what the police would use at a crime crime scene I tried to post a picture. I don't think you'll allow me to do it. The place was absolutely disgusting. One out of three devices to go to the restroom. We're working the baby changed. TABLE was out with dirty towels on it. the paper towel machine was busted hanging and wide open in the toilet. The toilet paper dispenser is busted. Obviously the manager has not walked the store and corporate could care less what a negative experience .I give them an F....!
