The buck stops here! The store manager had to be called as I wanted a refund. I told him that all grocery stores in the are, even overpriced Safeway charges far less for a quart; $ 1.98 and al their products are price labelled. He snapped back: "Then go buy it there!" Thanks! I will! I'm done with you! I know "El de 2 Oros "for over 15 years and it used to have price labels on products and fairly reasonable prices. Not anymore! Since the Covid hysteria --which they still practice by running around in masks-- They no longer label anything and their prices have gone through the roof. Carpe Diem, greed is good? Milk & bilk? I once got slapped with almost $ 30.- charge for a few apples and oranges! So a couple of years ago I suggested to the store manager to do at least a price range labeling as it would give buyers a fair chance and decision and not get sucker punched once the cashier rung all up and then having to wait for an refund/exchange process. The marinated arrachera preparado is THE ONE!! I tried this at my friend's house and it was so good that I had to pick some up for my own shindig the following week. Somewhat of a small(ish) neighborhood grocery store that also sells tacos/burritos/prepared fruits/fresh guacamole. The store owner yelled at me today to never come back. Absolutely! As we are all coming down with flu's and colds this season, I like to boil a ginger lemon water to build up the immune system. So I came here to purchase ginger and went home cutting them all open to find the ginger was very old, turning blue and grey colors. Returned today to ask for a refund, with the bag of cut up ginger - by now, was it super dried out after cutting it open 12 hours ago. The cashiers refused to refund me and asked me to speak to "the manager" at the back of the store. After zero success of obtaining $1.71 back for the bad ginger at the cash wrap, I finally walked back there. The manager proceed to tell me that their Ginger was from Brazil and it is SUPPOSED TO BE BLUE COLORED. I disagreed and confirmed it was old Ginger and it's not worth loosing a customer over $2. The manager stopped fighting me and handed me my refund in nickels and dimes. Seriously? I told him, "you've just ruined my experience of wanting to support small and local businesses like yours over $2 instead of owning up to bad product that should NO LONGER be on the floor then to return my refund all in change?" He proceeded to yell at me to never come back as he reluctantly handed me two dollar bills! I responded with, "pendejo!!" Unfortunately, I won't be back. Usually this place is great. But last night I ordered a steak burrito. They gave me super dry meat. It was like scraps of what was left from the end of the day. The meat was tough and dried up. I paid for plain chicken tacos for my son. The lady charged me extra for cheese. Just to get home and there was no cheese . I ended up having to throw the burrito away. It was gross! This place is really tiny and cramped which could get annoying but the tacos are super good so it's totally worth it! In the back of this store you can find a meat counter with a variety of meats, both marinated and non-marinated and everything looked pretty fresh. I will def be back to pick some of them up for summer BBQ's. Next to the meat counter is cooked-to-order food and the carne asada tacos were delicious and reasonably priced! The meat was seasoned and tender and they didn't skimp on it. This is one of the two places in Vallejo that will be my go-to for when I have a taco or burrito craving so I'm glad I checked it out and gained myself a second spot to add to my list. In regard to customer service I have no complaints. You go to the back, place your order, and take the food ticket you receive to the front of the store to pay. This isn't a truck so tax is added BUT the option to use card is convenient. Once you pay you take your receipt back to the food counter to show proof of payment and you pick up your food. I have been patronizing this business since they were on Broadway and they sold CD's and small amounts of veggies. Lately the customer service that the employees are giving us, the customers, has been horrible. Today my Mother wanted some pastry and asked the young lady when they had brought the bread in; we were told it was today but when we got it home it was hard as a rock. At the register the young lady was flirting with a couple of men that were there. When my Mother paid for her bread she says thank you to the cashier and all I heard was a grunt. Not a thank you, Gracias, de nada, NOTHING! little girls stay home if you feel the need to be rude to the customers. I spoke with the owner and let her know about her employees. On the flip side, there's a young man at the meat counter that is super nice and thanks me everytime I get my arracherra meat for our carne asada. These are the best tacos in town. The lengua (tongue) is especially tender and velvety. Stop by for fresh carnitas on Saturday when Don Cirilo makes them fresh and sells them by the pound. They are worth planning ahead for and adding them as a weekly 11 am market stop on Saturdays. Make sure the carnitas are mixed: tender meat, jowl and pig skin that ar nicely caramelized and rich. Don't forget the pickled veggies in the fridge. The market itself is ok. Notable at the market are Oaxacan products that are hard to find in the states including tlayudas (gigantic tostadas) and an array of molé sauces.
