As we celebrate occasions somehow there's always something sweet that's included just to express the event though here it's always a celebration just entering the store as you're asked if you want a piece of chocolate...ok lol! Dark or Milk he asked and it's dark for me I like that bitterness-ish of it and with the selection asked if a certain flavor was good is all new for me. What isn't is their yummy treats and as we just past New Year's it's Valentine's that's just around the corner and so is the Lunar New Year as well and here they're all dressed and ready to go which does make celebrating so easy as the staff is so friendly and ready to answer any questions I just love this shop that's been here in Kahala Mall forever I just can't believe I haven't written a review yet and blame it all on the sugar rush. There are 4 See's Candies stores on Oahu, with the 1st location in 1970 at Kahala Mall. The other 3 locations are in Ala Moana Shopping Center, Aiea, and the most recent in Kapolei in 2014. There is a seasonal pop-up in Kaneohe. This review is for the See's Candies at Kahala Mall. See's Candies is an old-school chain, as it's been in business since 1921 with about 200+ stores in the US. The quality chocolates are from Guittard Chocolate Co., and the nuts are from Mariana Nut Co. of CA. No preservatives are used. They offer chocolates (dark, milk, white, soft centers, nuts, chews); lollypops; seasonal holiday-themed items. They also have bridge mix, peanut brittle, hard candies, and candy bars. While many of their candies are sold in traditional packaging, cute and colorful foil and cellphane packaging are used for holiday celebrations. A 1 lb box of assorted chocolates has 26 pieces. You can purchase by the box or by the piece. On occasion, I have been gifted a GC for a lb of chocolates. How I love to choose my own chocolates; however, that means choosing them one by one while customers are patiently waiting for you to complete your purchase. I think the best time to do this is when there is no one in the store. Customer service excels in this Kahala store! All employees are required to wear white smocks or dress and black bowtie or ties with black slacks or skirts. Employees are friendly, polite, and knowledgeable about See's candies. And everyone knows that staff will offer you a free chocolate while asking your preference of milk or dark chocolate, with nuts, caramels of soft centers, etc. But did you know that customers can ask for a sample of any candy in the store? Funny story: Most of us will subtly linger in the store, knowing that staff will approach to offer a free chocolate. Once, this local celebrity, with his wife and child, came into the store, and LOUDLY SHOUTED, "WE'RE HERE TO GET OUR FREE CHOCOLATES!" It was so loud that everyone turned and laughed. No shame. They each got their chocolate! The store is its own building near CVS Longs. The interior is very clean and bright, with white walls and shelves. I love my nuts, chews, and caramels. At one time, I liked the Awesome Nut and Chew Bar that consisted of nougat, almonds, and honey covered with dark chocolate. However, over the years, this bar has gotten smaller and smaller. Limited editions of See's Candies are also sold by Macy's and Safeway. And the last time my son came to visit from Toronto, Canada, he returned home with boxes of See's Candies as gifts, as See's Candies is not available in Canada. Wow can't believe a 2 pound box of chocolates costs $68.00 plus tax. The 1 pound box is half the cost. There's something magical about See's Candies and every time I walk in, feelings of comfort, warmth and nostalgia, connect me to so many emotions and memories. Shoutout to Rhoda for helping us on this particular day. She created an experience that evoked such deep emotions by being so incredibly attentive, gentle, observant and made us feel so special. I was supposed to stop in for a gift for a family party, but who was I kidding? I just had to pick up something for myself, too! One box of Nuts & Chews, a bag of Peppermint Twists and a small box of my highly favored sweets. The Nut & Chew bars would have completed the haul but sadly they were out; just another reason to stop in sooner rather than later. Didn't take pictures but I had the best and sweetest interaction with their assistant manager. I did not get her name but she made my day. Went in to buy chocolates for a birthday present. Realized I haven't started a year's coupon card and realized that before the end of the year it wouldn't make sense. So I will do it next year, however she was sweet enough to give me a $5 coupon (always helps!!!). We had a little convo regarding elderly and caregiving and how it is such a giving and exhausting job. She gave me a few extra sweets so that I could share with my parents. Located at the Kahala Mall Shopping Center, you can find this See's Candies store just next door from the CVS/Longs Drugs store. As a kid growing up in da 808, I remembered when someone would have a kid, people would pass out those See's lollypops with a sticker on it - for a Boy, or a Girl, and I think that was the first time I got a taste for a yummy See's Lollypop. Sure, the standard lollypop flavors are awesome - (chocolate, coffee, vanilla, & butterscotch), but I now see that See's Candies even expanded their lollypop flavors, as I've seen - (pumpkin spice, cinnamon, latte, & caramel apple), but no matter what flavors See's Candies may invent, my true love is for the butterscotch lollypop! It really just does it for me!!! Lol! If you're not into lollypops like me, rest-a-sure there are lots of other goodies that See's offers here, and every time I walk into a See's Candies, the very nice sales associates always offers some kind of chocolate sample. I've been going to Kahala See's Candies for 19 years to buy omiyage and treats, especially for when I travel. Yesterday I went to pick up a small candy box for our tour guide on our upcoming trip. There was no Hawaiian-themed gift box, so Rhoda was so kind enough to fashion a Hawaiian cover out of some wrapping that she had. I love See;s Candy. Better than almost any other candy, no matter how expensive. Give me a box of nuts and chews and I'm good for a couple weeks (I parse them out, one or two a day.) Every Christmas, my family knows to buy me a box, but I do share. When I need a pick me up, I buy a small box with my favorites. The toffee, Scotch mallow, nougats, caramels. A couple of months ago, someone gave us a box of assorted and it had creams. I never used to eat creams but tried them out and amazingly, found that I liked most of them. In September, 2025, I contacted this store in Honolulu from my home in California, to order a 2-lb. box of Sees's chocolates for my son-in-law's birthday, composed entirely of their peanut butter selection. I would pay by credit card and my daughter would pick it up at the store, which is very near their home, and present it to her husband. It worked out well. When I tried the same approach at Christmas, but for a 3-lb box with a variety, and heavy on the peanut butter (I would pay by credit card in advance) it was: Sorry, no can do. I can't recall what the reason was but it seemed strange. I had to send my daughter a check and asked her to buy the chocolates. I came with my sister in law while I was on a short vacation. I am one of the few people in the world who do not like chocolate. Yes, Yes I know I have heard all of the comments all of my life. But it doesn't change the fact that I don't care for chocolate. Now I can eat some things with chocolate but a purely chocolate bar...no thank you. But I hate chocolate ice cream and chocolate cake, but this was not why I went in here. I was not there to turn my nose up at everything. My sis in law loves this place and I can see (not taste) why. Its clean and the service was exceptional. The lady that help us asked if I wanted anything. I said no, I don't like chocolate. So she offered me something like a carmel chew. We've been going to See's candids a lot these past few weeks. My husband is a chocolate candy junkie. And he's turning my daughter into one too! Yikes! We go to Kahala Mall quite a bit because it's the closest mall to us. At first we would just go in a see what kind of candy they had on special, just to look. But now he has a habit of going there every time we come to the mall. His favorite is the Scotchmallow. He can just get a few pieces of that and he would be good. Recently they made a mint Scotchmallow and he was all about that. Mint is his absolute favorite. See's gives you free sample candy every time you come in for a visit. My daughter loves that part about See's. I can't blame her. They have really good candy. She looks forward to us walking into See's because she knows she's going to get a small little sample. Well lesson learned for me. Don't give candy at night. She's like me in that sense. I can't really eat chocolate because it gives me heart palpitations. If I eat, I have to eat it during the day or I can't sleep. Well my daughter ate at night and then we went home and she took forever to go to bed. She was in bed but just talking up a storm to herself. It's okay, lesson learned. Customer service at See's in really good. The workers are pretty attentive to your needs. Love see's candies! I love chocolate so much. I don't come here too often, but whenever there's a special occasion, I must commemorate it with some chocolate lol. The shop is located right outside the mall's entrance. It smells so nice and chocolate-y when you walk in. I like buying one of their boxes and choosing from the display case exactly what I want. I typically like to choose their bordeaux chocolates, any limited edition items, those raisinette things, and the Rocky road chocolate is good too. One, two, three pound or custom boxes (where you choose your own selections) make the perfect gift for anyone with a sweet tooth. Please note candy sizes are smaller now. It's the sign of the times. But all their favorites and seasonal treats are available. Do buy their gift certificates and keep them for future gift giving. I'm a chocoholic..I get depressed, listless and shiver if I don't eat a piece of chocolate daily! Thankfully, See's Candies in Kahala Mall came to the rescue as I was exiting from having my haircut this afternoon. It was a hot and sunny day and I wanted to get in a quick walk around Diamond Head State Monument yet as I walked by the storefront, I felt drawn to the chocolate treats waiting inside. So, I entered into the store as my eyes danced with glee and my mouth began to water...oh, what should I order?? Let me say that I was immediately greeted by a very friendly, exuberant and happy employee, Art. I think that if I were working in this store, they'd let me go right away because I might buy out some selections, er, eat into the profits. But, Art must've taken a chocolate "Happy" pill or maybe the aroma of all of the theobromines must have gotten into him. He cheerfully offered me some free samples, both dark chocolate, which in my book deserves the 5-stars. I inquired whether or not See's made a dark chocolate Rocky Road confection. Art said that there have been several requests but none has been produced. Boohoo! Well, not to be deterred, as I munched on my two dark chocolate samples, I ordered a pound of milk chocolate Rocky Road. Oh, no...don't think that it's all for me (wink, wink)! He carefully packaged and weighed my purchased and I was out the door within a few minutes. I was afraid that if I stayed in longer, I'd find other treats to buy. (Covid-19 Review) As my grandma's new addiction is See's Candies lollipops, I've been making at least one See's Candies pick-up run a month to fulfill her cravings during this Covid-19 pandemic. I'm not a huge sweets person, so I can't speak for the taste, but the over purchasing experience has always been a smooth one. My grandma likes to order 2 boxes of the 30 count coffee flavored lollipop, so that's what I get every time. The bill usually comes out to around the high $40s. With Covid, you have to order and completely the payment via phone call as this is the only option they allow right now. It's always a pretty simple and fast process though. When picking up your order, I go straight up to their door (you can't go inside), and when the worker sees you standing outside, they will pop their head out and ask you for the order name. In less than a minute they will hand you your See's Candies bag and there's always a few samples in there too! Thank you for keeping the ordering procedure simple and smooth during these hectic times, and providing service still while maintaining minimal contact with the customers. read more
