I came here to grab some snacks to take back home to California. It definitely wasn't the cheapest but I liked that they had penty of li hing candies and snacks to purchase. Their candies also seem to be pretty fresh. I probably spent over $50 in snacks to bring back and there hasn't been one that I didn't like yet. But they range from about $7-$9 a bag. It's good checking out if you are looking for snacks and want to gift anything. The people working there were nice and parking was easy since they have their own lot. read more

In 1965, Betty Honma was enrolled at the University of HI to become a teacher. After 2 years, she decided that this wasn't for her. Having a chance meeting for a food broker, she applied for a $250 loan, and Wholesale Unlimited was born. Betty had a rough start. She began selling beef jerky and pepperoni sticks wholesale to mom and pop retail accounts and local businesses out of the trunk of her red 1958 Volkswagon Beetle. As business grew, the 1st Wholesale Unlimited opened on School St in Nuuanu, which then moved to a bigger location in the industrial area of Mapunapuna to handle retail and wholesale sales. Over the years, the family-owned business grew to carry 400+ snack items that are sold wholesale, retail, and online. Betty created her own line of crispy cookies, Betty's Best, with 23 varieties that are baked in Waipahu in their own bakery. With Betty as CEO of Wholesale Unlimited, her youngest son, Marc Honma as President, subsequently opened a chain of retail stores called Wholesale Unlimited Express. Other than their main Waipahu warehouse where all shipments are received and distributed to the smaller Express retail stores, the Wholesale Unlimited Express locations are located at Ahua St in Mapunapuna area, Kahala, Kaneohe, Pearl City, Keeaumoku St, and Kapolei. The success of this business is due to treating customers well and giving them the best quality snacks at reasonable prices with good service. They have a track record of their quality and making sure to care of their customers. I buy snacks for friends and family living off island, as well as for my snack cravings and have been a satisfied customer of Wholesale Unlimited for many years. Although there are closer Express locations to my home, I tend to patronize the Ahua St location in the Mapunapuna area. Staff are always welcoming with friendly smiles and willing to help you find what you are looking for, even if you're not sure. And they don't follow you around and let you take your time browsing. And they are always willing to let you sample an item before buying. When they were out of an item, staff said they would call me when it comes in. After 8 months had passed, I was surprised to receive a call saying that the item I had wanted had come in, and that they could reserve 2 packages for me! Items that I have purchased at the Ahua St location have always been fresh, and the quality has been excellent! I enjoy eating the honey cherry seed, dried slivered li hing seeds, mixed mochi balls, li hing gummies, Betty's cookies, mixed dried seafood, soft cuttlefish, and more. Everything is so flavorful and addicting! I love the light crispiness of the arare as compared to competitor brands that are not as fresh. And I like that all snacks are labeled as to the country of origin. The interior of the Ahua St location is bright, clean and spacious, so I don't feel having to be right next to a customer like in other stores. Because it's spacious, it seems that they carry more items than the smaller stores. Lots of space to display their many snacks. At times, they even have "rejects" from the Waipahu warehouse that are at a discounted price, e.g., broken pieces of cookies, bits and pieces of party mix, etc. Hours of operation are: Mon to Fri 9a to 6p, Sat 9a to 4:30p, and Sun 10a to 3:30p Free private parking in front of and on the side of the store. Great place to pick up omiyagi! We went to this location in the Mapunapuna area since this was main store. It's really big compared to the one we usually go in Kahala. All sorts of snacks- too many to list. They also offer gift bags. You can get some of the arare and other snacks cheaper at Longs when they're on sale, but you can't beat the variety in this place! Be prepared leaving with some snacks for yourself in addition to omiyagi! read more

This is the place to go for all of your goodies! It's definitely a little pricey, but cheaper to buy here than any store you're gonna go to on the island. The staff are really friendly and offered to help as we were browsing, which was really nice. Local Snacks from here are the best. There are so many to choose from and every time I go back, there seem to be more new ones! Ume norimake is so Ono and you can't go wrong with spicy ika and spicy arare. The aunty who works inside was so nice and helpful. We've been coming here ever since I was young. The best snacks & you'll find like literally everything here. PARKING: Its not a big parking lot but not too small. Maybe 15-20 stalls. But I've never come here when its a busy day. Its always slow. My brothers moved off island & when they crave for some local snacks this is the place we come to get them. I do think some snacks are kind of pricey but worth it. The workers greet us when we enter from behind the counter & thats it. They dont come up to you asking if we need help finding a certain snack unless we pass by the counter. We came around the hoildays like Christmas so they had so many baskets filled & wrapped. I guess its ok sometimes that we can just keep walking around & around & around the store. Would I recommend this place to family & friends? DEFINITELY YES!! read more

A must go if you're on the hunt for snacks to bring back to the mainland for family and friends. I'm lucky to live across the way from this place so it's convenient. They have everything lihing-- candy, seeds, dried fruit, etc. they also carry dried local seafood snacks, cookies, chips, etc. I do wish they had more variety of crispy jerky! I think that's the only miss to complete the full "Hawaii snack lineup". Parking lot is small, but it's never been an issue. The workers are usually friendly as well. read more

I always thought their prices would be so expensive so I never even thought of stopping here but I was pleasantly surprised with their cheap pricing and good value. They are located on Ahua street (as you drive toward the ocean) they are right after L&L on the right side. The inside looks dated (basically similar to Loves thrift shop interior) .. They have a pretty good size selection of various rice crackers..some cookies and some other stuff. The shelf signs are very clear and the insides appear to be very clean and maintained. The staff was friendly and cool and even let me try the chili rice cracker ( dang that sounds so not local) before I decided to buy. Their "mochicrunch" snacks are better quality than the cheapo stuff at longs (could defintely taste more shoyu) Looking for good quality "kakamochi" or other snacks at fair reasonable prices gotta drop by and check wholesale unlimited read more

I keep thinking that there's nothing really great in Salt Lake. But I am wrong. Wholesale unlimited has a great store with lots of delicious snacks and friendly people smiling and asking you if you need help. There's parking in front and Battery Bill on the side in case your car battery dies while buying awesome snacks! I am going to miss going to an old fashion crack seed store with the products displayed in large glass jars because someday soon all of them will be gone. Thank god there is Wholesale Unlimited to help fill the void. I come to Wholesale Unlimited about once a week to sate my cravings. The variety is amazing and they are always bringing in new products. And while they don't have those glass jars the do have some ono snacks that also make great omiyage for our families on the mainland. The staff is super friendly and you can ask to sample almost any snack, they usually have a stash of samples that they will gladly let you sample if the have it available. When visiting friends on the mainland I always make it a point to stop by before I leave. As long as they are around I will always have some place to shop for my local goodies. read more

This hidden gem is located in the Mapunapuna Industrial area and is very close to Servco Toyota. They sell ready made gift baskets and ALL the items that you usually see at Longs and other retail outlets. Prices are equivalent to what you would normally see on sale at those retailers. From the outside, you wouldn't know what they carry. The walls are organized by preserved fruits and vegetables, arare (mochi crunch), seeds. It is the most extensive selection in Hawaii. If you are looking for items for your college age children or just seeking your favorite items, which you can't find at the local store, then come here. For Neighbor Island visitors, this is an ideal stop on the way to or from the airport. Parking is limited, but people usually pick up and go. read more

Whenever I'm in the area, I stop by for some snacks. Parking lot is quite tiny with maybe 9 stalls. Ahua St. area is pretty busy during the week with lots of big trucks moving about, so be careful. C+ The store is very clean and lots of room to move around. All products have large, easy to read peg and shelf tags. A+ Gift bags and shopping bags are available for purchase. If you forget your shopping bag, you can purchase a reuseable plastic one for $.10 at the register. High quality, durable plastic. A W.U.E. has a cooler with bottled drinks for sale. Gotta have something to wash them snacks down with!! A The staff is very friendly and helpful. A Dragon Shrimp Chips, original flavor was my first item. There was a furikake flavor, but I am a purist. It said "Puna Style" on the label, but I'm not familiar with it. I do know I like it! I had been craving shrimp chips for a couple days but the ones I see in the grocery store wouldn't do. I like the colored ones! Well, I finished the bag in one sitting. Li'l piggy! A+++ I also picked up a bag of Iso Peanuts. They are always fresh and crispy and the peanut inside is crunchy. A Next was the Hot Arare with Peanuts. Love this in a bowl of popcorn. Gives the snack great flavor and added texture. A+ Betty's best cookies are very good. The All Butter Shorties are my absolute favorite. Small, two bite cookies are dense and crispy, with great shortbread flavor. A+ Can't wait for my next Mapunapuna trip! More shrimp chips!!! read more

Something about the local snacks produced in Hawaii has all my friends and relatives longing for more. Every time I plan a trip to the mainland, my friends and family send me their list of goodies to bring up. I've been to this location at least a dozen times in the past five years and it's always been a pleasure. The store does have limited private parking, but there is plenty of street parking. The store has always been clean upon entering and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. They continue to produce new snacks and goodies that are creative and tasty! The only drawback is that some of their most popular items sometimes run out due to high demand. However there is a waiting list you can sign up for. They will actually call you back too ;). Sounds silly to brag about a call back, but it's just not that common nowadays to have companies return calls. Keep up the good work Wholesale Unlimited and I'll keep coming back! read more

I think that's because I remember the ones my dad used to bring home that had the super thin layers that you could peel off layer by layer and enjoy them for what seemed to be an eternity.

I received 2 strawberry and 2 tangerine mochi. I figured that I would eat 2 today and 2 tomorrow. Didn't happen. It was so good that ate all 4 in one evening. The tangerine was surprising. There is a whole tangerine in the mochi and it was sweet, juicy and sweet. Never had anything like this. The strawberry mochi was also a must buy. I liked that they didn't put too much an in it, so balanced with the sweet strawberry nicely. I must buy more soon and try other flavors.
