Located in Kaimuki on the Mauka side of Waialae Ave. Didn't see a dedicated parking lot but there is free street parking available all around. After parking you'll walk to Waialae Ave to enter their front door. The store is very cute, with a mish mash of items like jewelry, aromatherapy, clothing, ecologically friendly cloths, even a candy area. Welcomed by Brandy, she made sure we knew about the deals and how it worked, answered all our questions and was very sweet and personable. We were there on a Saturday so the place was somewhat busy but the line at cashier moved quickly. We make it a point to purchase at least one item from these small local boutiques so we bought the car aroma bottles which were on sale and only $5 when we bring back to fill up. Keep It Simple, just take all my money! I was excited to come here when I heard about the Swedish candy but also love that they have eco-friendly, zero waste products! This cute store is located in Kaimuki and I honestly wanted to buy everything haha. I specifically came for the Swedish candy since it was Valentine's week and I wanted to pick some up for my mom and sister. They have an assortment of gummy candies, licorice, marshmallows etc in jars that you can pick yourself and put it into a paper bag. They charge by weight and it's not exactly cheap so beware when filling up your bag lol. I also picked up the viral Dubai chocolate which came out to about $40? I can't remember but it was expensive and I was hesitant to get it but supposedly it was the real deal. I bought a few other small gift items and ended up spending more than I had planned. The Dubai chocolate was honestly really good but I don't think I'd spend that much for it again. I also enjoyed the Swedish candy and would go back for those. Honestly my favorite place to get clean and natural ingredients! I'm traveling to Japan this year and was in need for some TSA travel friendly products that I needed to test out before I leave. I was warmly greeted by the cashier and she offered if I needed any assistance, I asked her where her shampoo/conditioner bar soaps were located and she directed me to the back where there was many varieties for your bathroom and house needs. I'm more into sweet dessert like smells since flower smells hurt my throat so this is what I got: Products bought: Coconut + Kukui shampoo Coconut + Kukui conditioner bar Coco Mango body soap bar Tiare gardenia lotion bar Coconut + Kukui shampoo bar smelled just like chocolate! I checked the ingredients and it does contain cocoa butter that makes the smell so good! It lathers really well onto my hair, making it squeaky clean. Coconut + Kukui conditioner bar also smells like chocolate! Only downside is that it's harder it lather so you make take awhile to get it all over your hair. I usually start from the top of my head then work my way to the ends of my hair. I add small splashes of water so the conditioner and spread better. Coco Mango body soap bar smells like mango! It lathers really well and leaves yours body squeaky clean. Tiare gardenia lotion bar, I was curious about this product and never heard of a lotion bar and wanted to try it out. It takes some time rubbing on to your skin and I try my best not to press to hard and break the bar. It leaves your skin with a buttery feel but not really not my favorite since it didn't have the smell I wanted. They only had the Tiare gardenia scent in stock when I went and I was hoping to get the coconut vanilla bar when I visit again. I recommend Keep It Simple for your go to place for TSA travel friendly products! But for storing your soaps I recommend put them in a soap saver mesh bag and not a tin container. read more

I've shopped here twice now and there will be more to come! I really love the whole experience. My friends taught me about this place since they wanted to buy the benoa swimsuits and jewelry, but it's the eco-friendly side that I'm more adamant about. Parking wasn't really easy to find, the first time I came here my friends and I had to park around two blocks away in the neighborhoods since it was Saturday, and the second time we had to circle around the main road a few times till someone left, but nonetheless it wasn't bad at all. When you walk in, all the workers are super nice and friendly! They will help you out with any questions you have. Especially with my friend who likes to get the benoa, she asks for assistance all the time and they are quick with it. As far as the eco-friendly supplies are, they are truly amazing! I live in a small apartment and I barely find time during my normal schedules to actually shop for basic quality of life things, let alone eco-friendly ones. But let me tell you, once I saw the refillable bottles and the wide variety of soaps, I was hooked immediately. The first time I shopped here, I only bought the pina colada hand soap (smells amazing by the way) with a full recycled detergent bottle that they had in their recycled bottles basket. The second time I came here, I bought way more, which included dish soap and cleaning supplies, a safety razor, swedish dishcloths, a shower scrubber and toilet mint fresheners. The prices aren't expensive at all either. They are reasonable and fit within an average budget. I highly recommend going to this place if you want to try out sustainable products. read more

We stopped by Keep It Simple on a whim while we were waiting for my son to get his haircut. There are a lot of items to help reduce one's use. For example, there is shampoo, body wash, conditioner, lotion, etc. You bring your own bottle and fill it with the item. The staff are very friendly. They are super helpful and have a lot of suggestions since they use the products themselves. I ended up buying bar shampoo and dryer balls. The dryer balls are really great and we purchased essential oils to add to it. We often use dryer sheets, so I'm glad that we invested in it. My kids love the candy here. I believe they said they do have a designated parking spot but wasn't sure where to park though luckily it was Sunday and all street parking is free so it was a breeze to swing by and check out their new place. What a beautiful layout so spacious making it super easy to browse the free reusable containers has it's own shelf which makes it simple to go through when you're like me who swings by unexpectedly and needs a refill. I did see a few items I haven't seen in the past so am excited for that though I do still have some left and it seems to last forever lol! This adorable shop is hidden amongst the various shops on Waialae Ave in the hip Honolulu neighborhood of Kailuke. Upon entering, Liza lit up our lives with smiles and joy. We strolled their shop while taking in all the beautiful aromas and asking her questions. They carry local products with a similar mission of protecting the environment and improving our health. Gotta love the body soaps by Keālia Organics, MeliWraps to consciously save or store food, and the 100% Cotton Dryer Balls with 'aloha' or pineapples sewn into them. Yet, their main product line is loads of natural, made-in-house soaps, shampoos/conditioners, lotions, laundry detergents and more. Buyer beware. CROSS CONTAMINATION!!!! If you are allergic to wheat, the tongs have entered the bins. The majority of the candy has wheat in them. I recognized this after making a small purchase of candy. I wanted to throw out the candy but was offered a small bag of gluten free candy. I didn't ask for it. They offered. Be careful. If you experience shortness of breath, hives, vomiting or nausea please consider consulting with a physician. Hopefully the store takes responsibility and provides separate tongs, and disposes of the cross contaminated candy. Today I brought a heavy glass jar to refill. Staff person assisted with weighing the jar and labeling it with tape at 14oz. Thankfully I checked my receipt and recognized I was over charged $7.00 , the cashier said she thought the jar read 1.4 oz. I spent over $70.00 today. The last time I was here I was suspicious of the $90.00 charges. This is why I checked before paying. Good thing I did.... Check the charges before paying. Even though everyone makes mistakes it shouldn't impact your finances. I left these details of my experience when I received the text receipt today. I then received a defensive text message from the store, followed by 2 more texts scolding and criticizing me. Telling me I'm confused because they waived the candy and replaced it and they were more than kind , everyone makes mistakes. I understand this. I provided the feedback via receipt. I received another text telling me they are helping the community , doing the best for the land accompanied by insincere best wishes. Yeah scold and criticize me then add "blessings" and "best wishes". The store has profane language on the sweatshirts "F plastic" that are right where children can see them. Hypocrisy at its finest. I am a consumer and I have the right to comment about my experience in this store. Hopefully the harassing text messages stop. And for public safety I hope this store takes responsibility and disposes of all the contaminated candy. Folk can purchase on line. I went to the website for the coconut clay soap and shampoo. The products are CHEAPER than what this store charges!! FREE delivery with a $70 purchase!! Very easy to achieve. I'll be purchasing the products directly from the source. Check the back label for the web address. Thanks for all the text messages. Without them I would not have been prompted to research and find great cost savings. Much appreciated. Straight up lying. No one advised me not to purchase candy. I purchased the candy first. I have the receipt. I spun the wheel for those making purchases over $50.00. I won 2oz of candy. I went back to add more to what I had already purchased. That's when I realized the candy had wheat in it. This business owner doesn't understand how to run a business without getting defensive. Look at her responses to others who had a poor experience with the staff. Has she taken responsibility and removed the cross contaminated candy ??? No indication in the response. After she sent me those immature defensive texts (it is your prerogative to act this way. It's something you will have to live with) I told her to act her wage. I never dreamed a business owner would have sent those messages. Perhaps if the owner focused on her behavior and learned how to respond to the consumers who are keeping her in business she could avoid losing business. I don't feel I have anything to live with regarding this dialogue. I was in Kaimuki for an event this week, and remembered seeing this store on Yelp! I just had to stop in! I made not a resolution for the New Year 2021, but a Goal, to be more sustainable with all that I do, more eco- friendly, and less wasteful. Since January, I've already made a couple of changes, but one that I really wanted to make was to have a utensil kit for when buying take out and not eating at home. I already had some reusable straws and napkins, but was in need of the actual utensils! So I was sooooo glad when I came in and saw the bamboo cutlery right away. And they are such a reasonable price! As soon as I got home and really thought about it, I should have gotten a set for my husband too, and maybe even some for my babies too, even if they don't quite use utensils yet! We were excited to check out this place that has benoa and swedish candy! We weren't greeted by the cashiers that were honestly doing nothing. I never write reviews but my heart is pounding. I came with my friend and we are completely understanding about having 1 person at a time in the dressing rooms. Although when we were getting prepared to try on our clothes, they told us one at a time although the people inside the dressing room before us were TWO girls. It felt racist to me saying those girls were white and my friend and I were asian, I'm just gonna point it out the cashiers were also white. I don't wanna sound rude or make any assumptions it it felt very unwanted. I understand if there was a rule but, at least make it applied to everyone. Located on Waialae Ave, this new eco friendly place has a lot to offer. Parking - You can park in the paid lot behind the store or if your lucky their is street parking in front. Store - it's a smaller store and it's growing with products. Products - Locally made soaps and items. They have a refill station where you can bring in your bottles to refill local shampoos, conditioners, lotions and oils. It was a little harder for me to smell them as we are in a Covid era of mask wearing but I will be back to get some. I found some peppermint soap, since I live peppermint thought this would be something good to try and also give as gifts. Small Christmas section which included handmade wine bottle covers, aprons and more. So I've been here twice now and it has drastically changed since the first time I came in, the store is really coming along and they have a huge variety of refills ! All kinds of body wash, hair care, home cleaning, pampering, skincare, self care, essential oils, etc. I like the selection of glassware/ bottles for purchase and they have some fun things like scrubs, soaks, face mask powders, etc. They make it pretty easy to start your zero waste journey with easy swap outs for hand soap, cleaning sprays, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste tabs, deodorant, glass and metal straws, paper towel substitutes, sunscreen, dish soap, and soooo much more. It's definitely worth checking out. I like the range of scents they have for different things, different body wash scents we might need to try. I've now been using the hand soap consistently for a few months now and we like it a lot (it's orange lemon I believe). We also regularly use the Keālia Organics shampoo and conditioner bars. They carry the charcoal bars I like from that brand. The "Three Bluebirds Swedish Dishcloth" has been a great swap for us for wiping down countertops and I love that they have this as one option for replacing paper towels. As for parking, I usually do street parking down the hill next to the basketball court. Pay the 50 cents or less on the meter and walk up the hill to the store. Overall, I like this store even more now and it feels like they're really coming into their own. The store really feels more like a store and I can't wait to see what new products they have the next time I stop by. I've been wanting to check this place out since I first saw them on Instagram, and I finally got to go yesterday because I was running low on shampoo/conditioner bars. I AM SO HAPPY THAT THEY EXIST since prior to them being open I had to drive all the way out to Kailua for a refill/zero waste store (Protea Zero Waste). LOCATION/PARKING: Located right in Kaimuki (same block as Happy Days and Big City Diner), this place was super accessible to someone like me who lives and sticks around town most of the time. I also felt like the store fit right in with the whole vibe of Kaimuki, since all the shops in the area are locally owned or mom and pop shops that's been around for decades. I found free parking along the side street next to a nearby park, but I know there is also paid parking in the back of the store (shared parking lot with all of the other stores on the block). STORE/EXPERIENCE: This shop had a lot of variety to choose from which I appreciated because other places that offer refills like Kokua Market and Down to Earth have limited options. In their refill section, they have everything from liquid shampoo, laundry detergent, deodorant, face mask, toothpaste tablets, natural bug repellent, and so much more. Aside from that, they have reusable bento boxes, soap bars, paper towel replacements,.. --- honestly everything that you can think of is here. The owner was really friendly and helpful with all of the questions that I had, and she was telling me how all the items in her store are sourced locally (which is amazing and I support 100%). I ended up grabbing 1 Jasmine Shampoo bar, 1 Rose Conditioner bar, 2 wool balls to put in the drier (instead of drier sheets), Swedish Dish Cloth, plus a lavender soy candle and Mesh Teaball Infuser (last two items for a gift). The Jasmine and Rose bars smelled amazing! I'm not a huge scent person but they have a nice aroma to it without it being too in your face. I've also already tried the Swedish dish cloth which apparently soaks up water really well when wiping windows and counter tops and I gotta say, I love this sustainable swap. I have yet to use the wool balls and give the gift to my friend but I'm sure they will also live up to it's standards. I overheard two other customers speaking with the owner during the duration that I was in the store, and they were very grateful as well that a zero waste/refill store opened up in town (finally). PRICE: So FRIDAYS THEY GIVE 5% DISCOUNT ON ALL PURCHASES! With that being said, my purchase was still about $60 -- honestly not the cheapest, but again for what it is, and the bigger picture, I'm willing to do it for our planet. What a great thing to have in our neighborhood! The person at that helped me was very patient and kind as I navigated my first eco store. I bought a 3 bottles and filled them with glass cleaner (works amazing); air freshener ( pumpkin spice scented but mostly smells like cloves; and laundry detergent. It came out to $90 so I'm not sure how much money I saved but at least I helped save the ocean from more plastic. I'm sure that next time will be much cheaper since I already have the bottles.
