As the name implies, it literally sells only crackseed products. Every time we visit from the mainland we pretty much come here to get our fix. This store is tiny but it has a wide selection, with and without Li Hing powder on it. My wife considers the crackseed here better than the ones they sell at ABC or Donki. The woman working there says they are shipped from China and Taiwan. We always go for the lemon strips and get a couple of small bags of Moys. Interestingly, this also seems to be the go to spot for the local kids. Every time we go, there are always kids coming in to get an Icee Slushie. For the brave, you can even get Li Hing powder on your icee! Located around a small cluster of small shops, cafes, and restaurants in the Kaimuki area, so one can make a little worthwhile trip out of it. The workers there are friendly and helpful. I had a great time here ahaha. They have a large variety of preserved fruit with and without li hing. The employees here were nice and explained the flavor profile of each of their products. I ended up getting the spicy mango, li hing mui, lychee candy with li hing powder, and pineapple with li hing. I loved all of it but the standout to me personally were the chili mango. Located on KOKO head Ave on the corner of Koko head and Waialae Ave. They have 121 different kinds of preserved dried fruit and seeds and also dried packaged fruits. They were very helpful and friendly and gave us items to try, even at that there are so many items that look the same but with different names and flavors. They have parking in the municipal parking lot or they also have some street meter parking. The store is small enough to hold maybe only 3 customers if more than that you would be next to each other all the way to the entrance. Service is fast so better to wait outside until others come out, instead of crowing inside. read more

Hmm, two Yelp listings are using the same street address but with different business names in the system. I decided to post to this listing because the 'Kaimuki Crack Seed Store' one seems to be outdated and has less than ten reviews. Anyway, this is a mom-and-pop shop known for a large variety of popular preserved fruit snacks (i.e. crack seed). A poster on the front window had photos of over 100 varieties. Despite the vast inventory, we came specifically because of their Icee machine. Each of us bought a large Icee with li hing mui (dried salt plum) flavor. The drink had a strawberry slush base with some li hing mui juice added to provide sourness to the mix. The tart factor wasn't quite puckering your lips, however it was distinguishable. The longtime proprietor retired a few years ago, and the place was purchased by the ladies who run Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery in Chinatown. After eating dim sum from that bakery earlier in the morning, this Icee was a perfect cold refreshment. The bonus was supporting two businesses from the same local owners. If we had more time and my stomach was not as full, then I would have asked for some taste samples of the snacks from this Hawaiian candy store. read more

I have been buying the same seed, seedless licorice plum, for awhile from this store. Always good and fresh but today hard and old. I just bought 2 days ago and was great. I'm not a complainer but it was so bad I had to go back. The 2 ladies working said it was a different batch from 2 days ago, said it was a newer batch. I told them it may be a new batch but they were sold old seed. I asked if I could get something else comparable to what I had paid but they said no. A friend went to Las Vegas and brought back a package of Rock Salt Seedless Ume for us and we loved it! Wanted to find a store that might sell this so when we googled it, this place popped up. Made a special trip to Kaimuki to check it out. When we found the store, we were lucky to get the last of the 3 parking spaces in front located on Koko Head Ave. When I stepped in, I saw so many jars of seeds, candy and Mochi crunch...wish I took pictures of all. I was coming here even before when Mr. Young bought this crack seed store in the mid-70's, as an old Chinese lady used to own this cracked seed store. Since then, Mr. Young had ran a successful cracked seed business but decided to finally retire recently, and he sold his business to a new generation of cracked seed owners........ One things for sure when you come to this Crack Seed Store in Kaimuki, as this store has a pretty sizable selection of cracked seeds! Not into cracked seeds? Well they also got Icee da bear (that's what I called it as a kid) drinks, as well as cookies over here! Since Mr. Young retired, looks like this cracked seed store has done a little renovations as the store looked brighter, with nice new flooring. Happy to see the new owners are still passing on the tradition of selling a wonderful selection of cracked seeds and other snacks! The day I came here, I was still looking for my Li Hing Cherry Seed..........yes, I found it, but unfortunately they sold it "seedless". Very late post - Time of visit was between October 24-28th. I was so happy to find this store. My family an I like dried plums and they had so many assortment in this store. Some items are pricey but I think that's just how much it is. Some of the items here can be found at wal-mart but they definitely don't have the assortment like this place has. When my friend and I came here, we were greeted by two asian ladies. I have been to places like this and they normally force you to sample items but here, we actually had to ask if we can sample. Anyway, we were able to try a few things and I specifically bought a LOT. I noticed that halfway through the sampling, they started to get stingy. We didn't abuse the tasting, I literally just sampled the ones I was interested in and most of the items I sampled, I purchased. It kinda just rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn't like there was a long line outside, other than occasional customers buying drinks. Anyway, you can ask to sample is the bottom line. Highly recommend visiting this place especially if you like Chinese preserves. read more

I haven't seen this old style Crack Seed store since I was a child. Everything was clean and the items well labeled and easy to find. I was looking for Seedless King Li Hing Mui. The space is tiny, the customer service is efficient. The best part for me is that it's not actually in Chinatown, there's ample parking, reasonably clean, and they fit so much into that space. Organization is well done, efficiency is key, know what you want or decide quickly, or get skipped. I like coming here for mooncake in the autumn for an assortment of mini mooncake.
