I came in here with my husband last week because I love chocolate, and we always stop by when we're at Oakway. We walked in and the employee just kind of watched us. She was wearing a mask, so I presume she wasn't feeling good. She was friendly when we checked out, but the mask made it difficult to hear and understand her, so we had to ask for clarification a couple of times. Because of the mask, we elected to only buy pre-packaged chocolate and nothing fresh, just because we weren't certain how sick the employee was, and I have been sick myself more often lately, and I didn't want to have it happen again. The store is small but always clean and easy to navigate. Would I return? Yes. We've been coming to this location for a number of years, and will continue to do so. I love sees candies! They are such a classic nostalgic treat. I sent this assorted box to my parents for their anniversary last minute and it only got there 3 days after which I thought was really impressive. It was 30$ (not including shipping) which isn't terrible for high quality chocolates and considering how much they give you. You can't really go wrong with anything at sees but my families favorite are the scotch mallows. I made up a half pound box, the person who filled my order cautioned me about leaving the mint patties in the box so as soon as I got home I took the seal off and removed them. Since they didn't mention the other candy that was primarily chocolate with a small amount of mint I figured those must not be a problem. Only one time did receive anything less than stellar service at sees candies. To be fair it was a couple weeks before Xmas and they didn't have the size of peanut brittle I wanted and the guy made some comment like what do you expect this close to xmas? I expect you to anticipate an uptick in sales and order accordingly. Still giving five stars cause he wasn't wrong. I was just salty they didn't have exactly what I wanted. I'm one of those girlies who absolutely loooooooooooooooooooooooooooves chocolate! I guess you could say I'm a chocoholic! I love the fact that being sight challenged means I could see the world with my other senses, but especially the power of my nose! You open the door, and the smell of chocolate seems to say, "You are certainly very welcome to our, humble home!". I'm not one to like nuts or coconut, but I do love chocolates, especially those chocolates with soft centers. A few of the ones I like are the peanut butter patties, the Chocolate Buttercreams, the Vanilla Buttercreams, and the Cafe Au Lait Truffles. I'd like to give this company a solid 5 stars! I have never had See's candies before being that I lived on the east coast almost my whole life. My roommate introduced me to it one Sunday and lets just say that was a bad idea. We now go here every Sunday and each of us gets a 1/2 pound box each of chocolates. We call it our "Fat Sundays" There is an older lady and a young man that work there on Sundays. Both of them are extra friendly. Don't tell them but I like the guy better. He lets me try as many chocolates as I want. I never go over trying 3 because then I would feel bad. (also just for walking into the store you get a sample) My favorite chocolates that they have are the maple walnut, blueberry truffle, and cafe au lait truffle. They are all rich, creamy, and delicious. They also have seasonal chocolates. They had an apple pie truffle and it tasted like I was eating a slice of apple pie. Yum. I wish that they had more dark chocolate and white chocolate options. There are only about 5 white chocolate options. It is reasonably priced. A half pound box usually costs about 9 bucks and you get 11-13 pieces of chocolate. read more

"I can't believe this place is still doing so well!" I always think to myself when I see people inside a See's Candies store. It makes me happy that a chocolate store that's been around since 1921 is still in business and still making people smile with sweet chocolate treats. You can always count on getting a free sample from the sweet ladies and gents dressed in while behind the counter. I remember going to See's in my hometown as a kid and buying chocolate to send to my grandmother. I loved their lollipops and peppermint patties. The chocolates are rich and decadent so you only need 1-2 per serving. The employees at this location were nice but a little scattered since it's close the Valentine's Day and people were getting their gifts ready in little red heart boxes. My only suggestion would be for the clerks to be more pleasant and personable. You walk in, they toss a sample on the counter top, without saying a word. Smiles are limited. They do their job, but do they find joy in it? I would have given it a 4-star for this, but heck it's See's Candies. They have been delighting me since 1963 in Los Angeles. I went to sees candies on Coburg Rd. I was waited on by Christie. I asked for my box of candy to be wrapped, as it was my present to my husband for our 28th anniversary.
