Yesterday I visited the website, then a retail store. After eating a few pieces of a dark chocolate bar with raspberry filling, the taste did not match that of previous purchases. Today after reading the ingredients on two remaining bars--milk chocolate with peanut butter and dark chocolate with sea salt caramel--I was horrified to discover corn syrup, modified corn starch, xantham gum, anhydrous milk fat, hydrogenated oil, and artificial flavors. The only item with less alarming ingredients was a white chocolate snowflake. Of course, white chocolate is not chocolate. Their version contains sugar, cocoa butter, milk, nonfat dry milk, soy lecithin, and vanilla. The bars, previously over two ounces each, now weigh 1.85 oz. At the regular price of $3.79, that is over $30 per pound. The real eye-opener is a six-ounce box of chocolate covered caramels. At $27.99, that works out to over $74.00 per pound! Now I also wonder if their chocolate is lab grown. I don't know, but I do know that I will look for chocolate elsewhere.

I didn't much care for the coffee flavored (truffle?) chocolate- they were labeled chocolates but filled like truffles. They were also enormous. Since I wasn't in love, I didn't try the other two, but that should give you a decent idea of my opinion of the taste. Still points for options, friendliness, and variety!

Because of not having wax it is kept in the refrigerator for up to 6 months. It only takes about a minute for it to be ready to eat if you can wait that long. My favorite flavors are espresso sea salt and espresso orange liqueur. I do warn you that after eating this chocolate you will be addicted and spoiled for any other. Brutto ma Buono Cioccolato is ugly but good chocolate in Italian, but there is nothing ugly about it and good is an understatement!

Then, for years it was one of two places I both wanted to go to and take people to experience each time I visited. Now that I live here again, I strangely only get delivery. However, even saying the name brings on a childish grin (and possibly happy tears) to my eyes! It doesn't hurt that their key lime tart is my favorite dessert not called sorbet of all time. Oh, yes, they also have sorbet, and while it isn't on Wanderlust's level, I don't care. I liked the earl grey chocolate, but man, I couldn't stand the little yellow dots on it. They reminded me of those little eggs from some insect that lays eggs on your clothes in the summer. The earl grey filling was nice, smooth and citrusy. The passionfruit chocolate was really cute, kinda had the look of a quail egg shell. The filling was a bit more sour compared to the earl grey one. But in general both chocolates were quite similar. My partner had the zucchini pound cake, and he loved it a lot. I don't know much about Eugene, as we were just passing through on our road trip, but I'd definitely recommend people come here when they visit Eugene.

Dark chocolate, assorted chocolate, and milk chocolate covered gummy bears. There were SO many options in the store. Fun to scoop and pick what you want. Caramels, gummy, chocolate, sour, etc. you name it, they have it. The lady working in there was so kind and cheerful. She was very sweet! It is indeed pretty small; there's an "in" door and an "out" door so and since the line can form pretty quickly. They're pretty fast though, so even if the line is close to the door (which it was once when I visited) you'll still be out within about 10 minutes or fewer. One of my favorite things from Sweet Life are their morning pastries--specifically, their cinnamon roll and the lemon cream bun. Both are amazing, and whilst the cinnamon roll is my personal favorite, if you have to choose get the lemon cream bun. It's different from something you've tried before; you can't get one of these everywhere and it's amazing. Their tiramisu is good too, and the some of their other cakes. Check out their specials--there's always something good to choose from. This location has no dedicated parking, just a few spots on the street (shared with Prince Puckler's, the pizza place, and other businesses around). There's a lot of outdoor seating, nice for warm summer evenings.

I believe I've also seen their candy at stores like Market of Choice. For a few years this was my go-to place for caramel apples, so I was sad to see them close. They were a great local alternative to something like Rocky Mountain, and their candy and chocolates were better, in my opinion, than the somewhat overrated Euphoria. Give them a try if you catch their cart somewhere!

BTW, Larson's Candy has not been in this location for years but you can call them and they will deliver it to one of several stores in the Eugene/Springfield area; this is what I do. They primarily sell at fairs and festivals. I know they are always at the Lane County Fair in the summer.
