I got stuck in Cottage Grove this weekend because my tire blew out on Saturday, so I have to stick…read morearound through Monday. Happened to find this shop and played a few rounds of commander. Viktor was really welcoming and helpful, explaining how the commander event works and holding my purchases until we could find out if I would get any store credit (which I did!). The shop is lovely and the fact that they sell art supplies is super cool. Some guy named Chris who was playing EDH as well decided to be a jerk, though. I use they/them pronouns which, tbh, I don't tend to make a big deal out of. When one person at the table referred to me using the incorrect pronouns, I gently corrected, adding that I hadn't introduced myself with them so I wasn't upset. Chris took it upon himself to become hostile, declaring that "I don't use pronouns." (Anyone catch the irony? Lol) Supposedly he uses peoples' names for everything? He also told me he "won't play into that stuff," at which point I decided to leave. We continued to argue for a few minutes with him telling me he wasn't being hateful and that "I'm just being me" (again with the pronouns lol). Anyway, long story short, I called him dumb. This was, as he correctly pointed out, rude. I'm unapologetic about this; I wasn't the one that made a nonsense argument about pronouns. All I did was ask that people refer to me by my pronouns. That's all. Anyway. I got Viktor's attention so I could check out with my purposes and explained that I didn't feel comfortable staying because of the transphobia. Viktor said that such behavior was not tolerated and Chris was asked to leave. I still headed out because I was pretty upset, but I wanted to leave this review. I also wanted to add that the other folks at the table were not hostile, and that one of them actually approached me after to say some kind words.

There's items for every anime watcher or general card game player in my life, and the staff are very friendly! However, there is typically only one person manning the store, and a lot of times, they will start talking to another customer for an extended period of time, sometimes even showing Magic the Gathering cards and the like. Simply, you must be brave enough to engage the person at the rwgister at times. And it is certainly worth it for what you can get!
