For all you new storage people, be aware that you will receive a letter/email stating that your rent is increasing EVERY SIX MONTHS. So, if you need your unit for long-term storage, please be aware! This is why their contracts are only for six months at a time, so they can jack the rates up twice a year. The online teaser rate doesn't last long either. The facility is fine. We've had no issues, except for trouble finding carts, but the rent is now ridiculous! read more

I was unable to get a truck or people to help me until the 20th. I called and explained that I wanted to change the date to the 20th. The gentleman said no problem. When I got my first bill, it was charged from the 15th. When I called a lady said I had to pay from the 15th. I explained I had called and she was unwilling to change the billing cycle. They have proof of when I first came, because they had to show me which unit was mine. This makes me angry. This is not good customer service. I will not recommend this company for that reason. read more

At Public Storage, we called ahead to cancel and they told us we had to come in, and then we still had to pay $10 for one days rent(at 9:30 am when they opened) and $30 for "move in fees", even though we didn't move in. How did I manage to collect all this stuff over the years? That question comes up frequently, now that the Albany House has been emptied, life in Pleasant Hill continues, and 2 of Gayle's Sons have moved in (and one back out). My ex-Wife once made a point that extra storage wouldn't be necessary if present possessions were managed. She was right, but right now that advice is too late. So a few months back, I did my storage facility research, and decided on Security Public Storage, within the northern territories of Walnut Creek. After a bit of a drive, a hard right after a point store, and down the hill, the double story storage complex was laid out in front of me and several loads of stuff behind in the vehicle. The folks in the front office (who live in an apartment above) were friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable in terms of what we had and what storage space we needed. With visions of "Storage Wars" dancing in my head, we have loaded up our space, with several cubic feet to spare. It's a funky combination of furniture, boxes, and other stuff. Transfers have been easy, thanks to available carts and a sturdy elevator. Some day we'll have to deal with what to do with it all. And if I had a choice, I wouldn't be spending my money this way. Yet, Gayle is almost able to drive into the garage, and with promises of the next purge, there is hope. Thank You Security Public Storage for making this stage in family life much more manageable. read more

This place is a joke! I can't even get a courtesy call back from the manager who hides behind her husband who works as her employee. While I was vacating my unit, I discovered my mattress had been ruined due to water damage during my short (approx. 6 months) use of their facilities. Obviously, I brought this to their attention and was directed to an outside insurance company. I did inform them in writing that I was vacating the unit. However, I find out after I moved my items out on the 15th of the month that they cannot prorate the unit because I had already paid a full month of rent in advance per my contract on the 1st. I replied that I would prefer to then utilize the unit I had already pain in full for the additional two weeks. Unfortunately, I was deleted from their system so fast it made my blood pressure go up. I object to this simply because it's unethical. Regardless, my code would no longer let me in or out of the facility I was still standing at. Unpleased with the service I requested a phone call from the General Manager. A couple days later I called & asked a different employee for a call back from the General Manager. Today, I tried again to speak to the General Manager but her husband gave me the same runaround before hanging up me. I doubt I'll hear from this woman. Taking someone's money & re-renting the paid unit to someone else is bad business and in short stealing. Don't bother using this small time storage facility with their poor customer service and bad business practices. Two thumbs down! read more

I hate to write bad reviews - but this is certainly deserved. This facility collected in error an additional month of rent after they knew I vacated the unit -- due to a 40% increase! That was February. This is June and I still have not received the promised refund. Where is their accountability for an error, their follow through on promises and timely correction of a mistake? They keep trapping me in their bureaucracy saying I have to wait 7-10 weeks for a paper mailed checked - rather than a credit to the credit card they used. I've called 8-10 times at this point. No check. No accountability. No information on when I will get it. Ive asked for the district manager contact info to escalate. I'm hung up on. Repeatedly. I've attempted almost everytime to get to the corporate number - I can't get to anyone. The worse thing is Tony and his staff at Walnut Creek seem very very good & I would've recommended this place if this wasn't still happening. It's been 6 months! Ridiculous. If you can charge my card in error - refund my card. Don't do business with this company. read more
