I used Shadelands Self Storage when I had to park my belongings when I remodeled my condo. They have many units in various sizes - some indoors and some outdoors. Indoors = the units are housed in a building, so another layer of protection to keep the contents clean. Outdoors = the slide-up door to the unit faces the elements, and dirt can seep in. First I had my items in an outdoor unit - after ditching furniture, didn't need the larger unit so crammed all into an inside 7.5x10 unit, which worked much better for me. You'd be surprised at how much those units can hold. Cheaper too! Guillermo and David, throughout the several months I used the facility, were top-notch with their customer service. They are personable, helpful and will assist you. They are understanding that sometimes people are under stress during a change in life. You can move your storage contents to another unit if smaller or larger is needed later - the caveat being you have to move stuff on the same day, you can't have two units on the same day (unless you want to pay separately). Be sure and take care when coding in and out, as they describe, to avoid any false-alarm charges. If an alarm does go off accidentally, contact the office asap so they are informed it was an accident. The paperwork takes a little time at first to set up, but when you switch units, it's very short. If you are unsure at the end how long you will need it, and pay for a full month, please know that you cannot get a refund for the days the unit not used. Talk to them before to check on any alternative if that's potentially an issue. I was very satisfied with the facilities and service, would use Shadelands Self Storage again without a doubt. Bad rat infestation! I have a 10X25 unit. The owners/management have not done anything about rats getting into the building. The units are not sealed inside. Rats get into the building from the outside and then can easily travel between units. My belongings have been compromised! In the middle of a horrible rat infestation they thought it a good idea to raise the rent from $405 a month to $550 a month! These people are incompetent and just awful. I just spent $2060 to have a bio cleaning company clean and sanitize my belongings! I had to dispose of damaged clothes furniture and miscellaneous other things. I have to have some upholstered pieces professionally cleaned. I will be moving my belongings to another facility! Moving from a large unit...Another huge expense! I have been renting a unit here for some time now. I really like the place. It is very clean. It has a great Manager. She has been great to me. I really recommend this place. I have never had any problems with breaks in or anything else. It has a very good security system because when one of my employees left the premises behind someone else ahead him without entering a pass code, I received a call from them a few minutes later asking me why someone left the premises without entering a pass code while leaving the premises. Absolutely the best storage facility around! Been renting multiple units for the past 20 years. Very clean and efficient. Never seen rodents, droppings, or bugs ever in any of my units! It's the primary reason I rent here and will continue to do so. The units are very secure which is highly important and I feel extremely safe alone on the grounds even when it gets dark early during the winter months. Barbara who is the manager is top notch and a gem! Very professional, knowledgeable, with a welcoming and friendly personality. Wouldn't think of renting anywhere else. Storage is costly, right? Heck ya it is. Well, I have to say then the things I store I think about really hard. I REALLY like them. I want them to be exactly the way I left them when I come back for them, you know? And, when I do, I don't want to go rifling around in a hot dark room (and a bunch of nasty bugs in splintery wooden beams) looking for what I need. In, out and done. I don't want to have to make an excursion of it. So I love Shadelands. It's secured by a big scary looking gate (automated) which locks down completely after hours. It's lit up like a stadium. In and out. My building is temperature controlled, has a good sized (always working) elevator and is supplied with complementary moving carts. It's manned (or womaned) by lovely staff if there's a question or you umm, err, uhh... misplace your lock. There's a panel van you can reserve on move-in and best of all the facility is clean, clean, clean! (I can stop by straight from work without changing to grubby clothes!) When I come visit my things I feel that they are in an apartment of their own rather than stuffed in a dirty dusty rat infested garage forgotten someplace. Maybe it's overkill that we store this way but if I'm paying 'rent,' I'd like it to feel its for a sturdy, secure, inhabitable and yes, clean space for my important things. Sure, it would be great to have a place for everything where I currently reside, it would be great if storage weren't as costly too but comparing the options year after year... I signed up on a Saturday morning and was taken care of right away by Barbara. The units are well-kept, air controlled and very clean. The site looks secure. I highly recommend these facilities. As Barbara did my paperwork on the computer, we ran into problems getting the gate-entry code I chose to work. Both computers would not accept the number. Barbara was kind enough to give me a back-up code previously registered in the computer and we verified that it opened the gate, since I would be moving in my goods after the office had closed that following Sunday. Barbara worked on problem solving the issue, and emailed me before the end of the day to say the computer had been fixed and my code was now working. When I went to the unit today, it worked just fine. This is great customer service; you see superb customer service when there is an issue that needs resolution and is addressed with professionalism and respect! Barbara even gave me a free, high quality lock for my troubles. I would recommend this place to anyone. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because I think that corporate should support their managers in the field with a better system for fixing computer and gate issues. read more

The sanctuary of miscellaneous materialistic junk. Ok this place is cool, super secure. I'd guess +90% are all single level units- major plus! Price is a bit high, but the service and other incentives like the ability to utilize the moving van is nice. This is my second and hopefully last time using a storage facility. I'd like to give a bit of advice, never put extremely large items of furniture in storage, it will ultimately prolong your stay and essentially money out of you pocket. I'm almost tempted to give this place only 4 stars because its relatively expensive. read more

I made a reservation to see a 150 square foot locker with Deborah. Immediately upon meeting her, my first thought was, she is not very friendly. That was okay. I decided to take it and made a reservation for the unit and the truck for moving one week in advance. I phoned the day before my move to confirm and was informed that my reservation had been canceled with no explanation. Later that same afternoon I received an email from the office indicating their right to refuse service to anyone. The only thing that occurred during the transaction that could have possibly have made anyone angry was an attempt at self-deprecating humor. At some point, she said that she was confused and I said that I am a professional at confusing people. She really is not a very nice person. read more

They have a wide variety of sizes depending on what you need to store, plus you can use their truck to load it up if the Uhaul doesn't cut it. Both the check-in area and the units themselves are very clean. You can choose indoor and outdoor units, and be ready to smile for the video cameras, because there are several around the facility to keep out undesirables. If that is the reason it costs a bit more I'm ok with that. read more

have had couple of units for 20+ yrs and have been happy with service and security. unfortunately, in last couple years cleanliness, customer service and security have gone down hill all while rates have sky rocketed. that weekend office manager is a complete jerk, and not helpful at all. the indoor units are infested with rats - apparently someone was storing food in their unit and the rats run through there like crazy causing all sorts of destruction to anything in cardboard boxes. lately there have been gate issues - the gate doesn't open when you put your code in, causing you to either be locked out or locked inside. if it happens to be on a weekend, the guy who's supposed to man the office often takes long lunches or just disappears and you can't get in or out. phone messages left are rarely returned. time to look for a more customer focused business as this one doesn't seem to give a darn. read more

Katie and Barbra are genuinely good spirited people, they really do like their jobs, I asked ALOT of questions and without hesitation they answered them clearly and concisely. The process of securing my belongings was quick, I just needed money and to fill out a few forms and I also brought my own personal lock! Barbra gave me the tour and really highlighted key aspects that makes this storage facility different from the rest, she is very knowlegable. The property has a varity of size units. I secured an inside 5x5 unit in an air-conditioned building with alarm sensors! I personally will pay anything for the sense of security and I know for certain that my personal belonging are secure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I travel and the things I have are irreplaceble so I needed somewhere I trusted, I know I made the right decision by entrusting this storage facility. read more

Beware of this Storage facility. All their units are RAT infested! Our precious belongings were ruined. We repeatedly told them of the issue with promises from them to address it. We were out of the country for six months and trusted that they would. When we arrived back and went to look and it's was disgusting!! Obviously nothing had been done. I was hesitant to put my antiques in storage but after visiting a few storage facilities and seeing how they're kept and the folks that manage the sites. I'm happy to say I'll be moving my collection of old things to Shadelands. Not only was the property clean, they had pest abatement boxes around the facility and in the hallways. The manager was very helpful and answered all my questions, she even took me through the facility to let me decide what I thought of their place. I was pleased to see they offer drive up units but they also have indoor climate controlled units and they're actually affordable. I never thought I'd be excited to store my antiques and vintage collection away from home but I need my space back and I'm confident I've selected the best facility around. I can't wait to park my car in my garage again and not hear my husband talk about how much stuff I have. Maybe now I'll finally get that she shed we've been taking about. read more
