Great place for high profile things. Quite, organized and helpful place for your things. The staff is beyond helpful and nice. I am so happy with every aspect of this company and location. Update from that post. I continue to love the kind service of the staff and the helpfulness that they provide every time I'm in. They remember me and always say hello. They are still the same great place during these crazy times we live in. read more

I helped my 80-year-old uncle find a storage unit because he's moving into assisted living. We looked at three other places before SPS. Barry and Tyler were so kind, patient, and helpful we knew we had found The One. I know that if Uncle Ed needs any help at all, they will be ready and willing to lend a hand. #PeaceOfMind read more

PHENOMENAL service and team- many thanks to Barry, Tyler and Linda for making my move a breeze! I had to briefly put my apartment items in storage for a month and Barry went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly for me - he coordinated my time and moving van and made sure I had everything in place. Even more, their team knew exactly what size unit I needed for my items and didn't try to oversell. My items fit perfectly! Not only is their professionalism unbeatable, but they are genuinely kind, honest people who take care of their customers and treat everyone and every move with the utmost care. They are putting such positive energy into the world, it's seriously inspirational! Note: I have used their neighboring facility Public Storage at 2222 S. Delaware Street and their staff have been consistently rude, mean, and passive aggressive (threatening me with fines, never having carts available and even calling my work manager at one point when I dropped a box). It's amazing how Barry's team makes a seemingly similar storage unit a complete 360 difference! read more

Barry and Tyler are just amazing, welcoming and so so helpful! My husband and I needed a storage unit for the first time and had some places in mind. Security Public Storage was our first stop for no particular reason but the decision was clear and easy to make as soon as we got into the office and talked to Barry and Tyler, it felt like we knew them for years, they were so kind and accommodating, showed us options and explained prices, hours, everything pretty clear! We couldn't be happier to know we have a safe place where to keep our stuff with amazing people on site. Honestly 120% recommended this storage and their service, you won't be disappointed. Nothing better than receiving a smile and good vibes every single time we go in! Thank you guys so much for all you do! Carlos & Yuli :) read more

I never thought I would have to use a storage unit. Having hear all the horror stories I was a bit worried about how to find one. Barry gave me a tour of the facility. He was very patient and showed me the different storage unit sizes and gave me advice what would be an appropriate size. It was a never a hard sell. He made me feel very comfortable. There were no hidden fees as everything was posted on the website. Barry even tried to hold my unique storage size for 48 hours. Fantastic customer service! Unit was clean! I like how everyone has their own gate security code. The hours to get into the storage is pretty long 5 am to 8 pm. Its tough when life is giving you curve balls. Its just much easier when things are stated upfront. That is what I liked about this place read more

I just finished storing my stuff here for a little over a year, and frankly I'm blown away by the amount of positive experiences and run ins I've had with staff here. The kindness of the people that operate and staff this place is genuine and really appreciated. On a few occasions they lent me a ladder and even let me stay past closing to dig through my stuff to find a particular photo we needed (in the very last box, of course). Oh and when I lost my job during covid they helped me out with a break until I got back on my feet! If I ever need a storage locker again I will absolutely turn these folks. They take care of their customers from start to finish. read more

I gotta say, Barry and Tyler are some of the nicest people to deal with. This facility is clean and is easy to access with many hand carts to lug stuff around. They also allow you to use their moving truck within limitations but it's free if you're in the area..FREE! The move out process was even easier than I thought. Every step is very simple and it something to appreciate as moving is already a huge headache. I highly recommend this storage facility because of the personnel, cost, ease, and cleanliness. If I ever move back to the area, I will be storing here again. read more

I'm impressed. Reasonably priced plus the coupon - this is the best deal for storage. The added extras are what really are the seller - and show they are customer service oriented: - Free use of a move-in truck (3 hr limit) - Elevator access to upper level storage units - Carts available for hauling your stuff to unit - recycle, trash and donation bins available on site - alarms set on each storage unit Only bummer: - *not* temp/humidity controlled - location is a little off the freeway, located near old downtown San Mateo behind the Dollar Store and English Pub (which I guess could be a plus!) Give'em a shot! read more

Love this place. The onsite manager is so nice and professional. The building is extremely clean and air conditioned. I have a small business, so I'm able to store merchandise here because the place is clean and rodent free. read more

The cleanest, friendliest storage unit I've ever been to! The owners were so kind and helpful. They have a free box truck that you can borrow to transport all your items, which was the main reason we sought them out, but we will definitely be back for the kind and helpful service. The men who run it clearly take pride in their business. We had several large pieces that we were having a lot of trouble moving ourselves and the two guys who run the place quickly came over to help us lug two very heavy couches and a queen mattress up the stairs to our unit. They were so kind and and went above and beyond to make sure we could get our stuff in safely. They wouldn't even take a tip (they forced it back into my car when I tried to give it to them on the way out, lol!). Added bonus, the bathroom in the office was impeccable! And even had some nice peaceful artwork hanging. We are so thankful we were recommended to this place! read more

As a partner and employee of 18 years for a local newspaper I have to say that in 10 years of partonidge I am appalled by what has transpired with this place. I have spent over 50k with them and it looks like they are really going to be selling my belongings at an auction, I showed up a couple weeks ago ready to pay my bill and get my stuff and leave this terrible place I really cannot believe what they said to me. I was not allowed access to my unit because I was in my mercedes was told that until I get a truck to remove my items I would not be allowed in. Well i called yesterday and my bill is now over 1000.00! We came to an agreement that I was moving out, no big deal everything in my unit came in the same car I drive every day! I had a message from some manager that I have never met or spoken with saying something about eating food on the premises no clue what he/she meant. The 2 funny guys at the front said it was drinking alcohol so an outright lie so pathetic. Bottom line is that I now have to take this place to court and believe me I do not have time for any of this. This is a serious warning to you please be leery of this place. I know its just storage but they are basically stealing 2 huge lockers full of items that I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars on. I was ready to get on with this 2 weeks ago, this place is run by people who act like they are in 8th grade. I had a tennant come un to me and ask me if I was moving out? Really? Why was this information which is very personal shared with someone I have never met? They put on a good game face but some of the rude behind my back comments that I have had made towards me are downright disgraceful. This place needs some sort of sensitivity training, not sure how these guys can even have control over anything that does not belong to them. Please feel free to message me if you would like to know more about the horrible experience that I have had at Security Public Storage in San Mateo, I will be posting this on Twitter, Nextdoor, Instagram, Facebook and in the San Mateo Daily Journal, I will pay for an ad if I need to. All I can say is WOW! read more

To any rented or people that want to rent a storage! My apartments offer storage and they just broke into them recently but I am glad I have security public storage because is secure, great prices and very friendly. The managers had change since I go this unite but they all have been really nice to me! Please if you are looking for a place to keep your things save come here! read more

This Security Public Storage has the best customer service. Besides great customer service the property is really pretty ; the property is surrounded by trees and there's flowers in the parking lot. Instead of looking like a prison it looks more like a park , which makes it a pleasant experience instead of a chore going to the facility! read more

They miss guide you on the sign up process, tell you insurance is not needed on the unit then it automatically is added to your account after 30 days. After calling the corporate number they stated this is a frequent issue yet are not able to reimburse the fee that was charged. Keep an eye out, bad business. read more

Oh my gosh this is the best public storage. We just had a nightmare experience at U-Haul and walked in and have been pleasantly treated and got a great storage unit for a great price. Thanks Tyler. You're awesome! read more

My husband and I have had a storage here for several years. The previous managers were nice folks, but they didn't do a lot to improve the property or offer options for improving our experience. Since Barry and Tyler became managers, we've seen many improvements to the facility and improvements on management too! We highly recommend this storage location and it's impressive style. I have been a customer for over a year and their lack of customer service and hours are not convenient as a customer. Their prices are very high and their facility are outdated with no ventilation (A/C) for your belongings. There have been several occasions on my days off (holidays) where I'm not even able to access my own unit. If you miss a payment and it's 11 days past due, they will lock your storage without any notification. They are not customer friendly regarding your feedback as a customer and don't care to listen. Location wise, very congested traffic causing difficulty getting access to the facility , especially when you are moving in very large items. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because my location is a few blocks away from the facility but I will be considering going elsewhere. read more

This has been my best storage experience ever. Last year I rented my first unit with SPS as I was anticipating an upcoming multi-home downsizing. Barry and Tyler made a wonderful first impression! They helped me find the right unit for my needs. Shortly afterwards, I added a 2nd unit and eventually a 3rd. The units are clean and secure, well lit and have good surveillance. The free use of their moving truck was a godsend as I've made many trips loading and unloading my units. I highly recommend SPS and their team for your storage needs. read more

Tyler and Barry are amazing; always professional and smiling. I have been renting there for over a year now and they never cease to maintain a professional attitude and willingness to help. Thanks guys read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. Very honest and provide superior customer service. When I inquired about the units they were very patient and matched other companies. I will def recommend them to anyone looking for a place in the peninsula. read more

Barry and the staff are fantastic. The team was very accommodating when our move in went past the standard 8pm closing time. Great service! I also appreciate the very straightforward pricing for units at SPS. There's no hidden fees - what you see on the price tag is what it costs. The facilities are also very clean and well maintained. read more

Excellent service! Barry, Tyler and Linda are so helpful and friendly. We moved in late May for two months during a move. We had lots of questions as it was our first time using storage. Everyone was so patient with us, especially when we couldn't get our unit unlocked and when we forgot the enter the security code. The facility is clean and very easy to navigate. We highly recommend them! They also connected us to an exceptional moving service we have used 3 times now and several friends have as well. Great people! read more

I was looking for a less expensive option for storage space with twice the size of my storage unit in San Francisco. My 4x5 space in San Francisco was $201 per month. This storage space that Barry and Tyler offered me was $186 for a 5x10 (includes insurance). He gave me a move-in offer which I couldn't resist. I found out that move-in offers vary from month to month so I chose not to tell you mine :-) So, I closed out my San Francisco storage space and moved to Security Public Storage in San Mateo. I really appreciate the follow-up that Barry did with me since he only had a few in inventory. We made the arrangements over the phone and then we went to the office soon thereafter. Amazing customer service! Their office is very neat, clean, and orderly! I like that there is cold water to quench my thirst --- and even Keurig coffee if I needed it. The paperwork was done via tablet (as well as my e-signature) and emailed to me. So efficient! I love my unit! It is spacious and clean. Since I've just moved in, I will be back soon to work on organizing my storage space. I hope to tell you more about my experience at this San Mateo storage place. Thank you, Barry and Tyler, for taking very good care of me! read more

Very nice and clean storage. Tyler and Barry are very helpful and accommodated us with everything that we needed that made our move easier.

They used to give me a courtesy call or text to let me know I would be incurring a late fee if I don't pay in the next day or two. This has been done for many years and it's pissing me off that all of a sudden they just stopped doing it. It seems like they just WANT me to be late so they can make an extra $15 off me. That's on top of the constant rate increases. I was at $110 for one of my spaces which now is $180. And it's not a huge space. I'm starting to think I should just take both of my 2 spaces and go somewhere else that doesn't keep raising their rates everytine I blink. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER! read more

We have used Pubic Storage for over a decade on and off. The location has always had decent prices in some what of a difficult to access layout, but the level of customer service just took a dramatic boost.. so much that I will never think twice again about which storage company to consider. Barry & Tyler were an absolute life raft for us in dealing with a nightmare logistics company who were helping us move in and out of Storage. So many unfortunate surprises for us in this process which impacted them directly, yet so many fortunate solutions B & T were able to aide us with. None of it had to do with getting discounts or rate relief.. it was 100% pure great customer service in them helping do whats best for us. I honestly don't know how they do it so well with all the curve balls that are likely thrown their way in the industry they are in. Cheers to you both! read more

Great service & great Management. Very clean! Thank you Barry & Tyler for your help. You guys are awesome!

"It's a good day at Security Public Storage." (That's how they answer the phone!) Security Public Storage is located between Prince of Wales Pub and the Dollar Wherehouse across the train tracks from the San Mateo County Expo Center. The prices are really reasonable here, especially when there's a sale. My 5'x10' unit was half price ($56) for the first two months. It's quite a steal considering that a 5'x5' unit is $84. I called around to find out prices at other storage facilities in San Mateo, and SPS' were the best. The overall security at Security Public Storage is very good. If someone opens your storage unit without your pin code upon entry of the premises, an employee will walk over to monitor the area. All of the employees with whom I've spoken with have been very nice and helpful. There are usually 2-3 dollies/carts under the stairs by each freight elevator. My advice is to use the smallest one, because the green metal carts are VERY DIFFICULT to maneuver. Also, please take note that in the elevator, there's a switch that holds the door open. read more

Barry and Tyler made the rental process quick and easy. The facility has all the convenieces to make the move in stress free.

I move a lot. I'm getting pretty good at knowing storage companies and this one is one of the good ones. When we went in a few months ago, we met with Desiree, who is totally kick-ass and knows her way around the system. We got a nice interior unit on the first floor at a good price, and we took advantage of the moving truck to haul all of the stuff from my most recent move. Pluses: Good prices Super friendly Carts are handy Plenty of parking Interior units are nice and cool Truck is a huge help Alarmed units with interior lights Elevator to get onto upper floors Minuses: Getting out of the driveway to turn onto 25th Ave is pretty gnarly Units aren't climate controlled Not enough carts on a busy weekend Honestly, they deserve 5 stars, but I was pretty damn spoiled by my last storage in San Diego (they had a bunch of guys on-site to help you move stuff, plus bottled water and coffee every time you visited!). So, not best in California, but maybe best in the Bay Area? read more

Hands down, this has been the best storage company I've rented from. I've rented storages on and off over an 8 year period. This was the cleanest, as described unit I've had. They have plenty of carts to use. They make it easy for you to park and move in and out. If I need a unit again, I will only rent from them. read more

Security Public Storage has great service! Barry and Tyler were really helpful in finding the right storage needs for us. Thank you!

We stored items here for over a year. I was extremely impressed with this place. First of all, the people in the office are great--friendly and helpful. Secondly, the facilities are excellent--every unit has an individualized code for the front gate. If you fail to enter with the right code, then an alarm will go off when you open your unit. Lastly, the place was always kept clean. My only wish (but I knew this going in) was that the place was a little more temperature controlled. It's not as if it gets overly hot or cold in the peninsula, but a bit of heat and humidity control wouldn't hurt for storing nicer items. Still, for the price, convenience and staff, I give this five stars. read more

I found this place because I was looking for the closest storage facility to my house. It turns out that they are the cheapest and friendliest storage place in San Mateo. Every time I call or go into the office to make a payment, they are really nice and helpful. The only reason it gets 4 stars is that there is no bathroom, which makes if inconvenient if you have to go. There is a bar/restaurant next door though. They also don't provide garbage cans, but I can understand that they don't want people to dump things and have to get rid of it for you. read more
