One word. Exemplary. That's what I would use to describe Security Public Storage. While some would say, "blah blah blah, it's just storage", yes, these are physically just empty spaces, it's the experience that made me stay here. I once called in to another facility inquiring about renting, and the facility manager kept telling me to go on their website to rent, as their rates were lower online. Well, I don't care about a website at the moment. When it comes to storing my personal belongings, I want to talk to a human being. I want to see the unit personally. I don't want to rent a unit, and end up looking like a fool because I chose a size that was either too small or too big. When I called Security Public Storage, the manager himself was able to determine a perfect size for the things I had. How do I know it was the perfect size? Well, instead of just telling me a bunch of numbers and rates, he actually invited me over to the facility to check the unit out. Man! In my search for storage, never has a facility asked me to come over to see for myself. With that, I knew they weren't going to try and con me into getting an unnecessary size. Their rates are great, and they even gave me a move in special! Some other places told me they had a lower rate, and while they may have been, the management was very dull. I swear they were related to Ben Stein. Here, at Security Public, they're always in a good mood, and that in turn, puts me in a good mood. Thank you SPS! read more

I had to put my stuff into storage for over a year and I had a financial situation where I was unable to pay for my storage unit. Long story short it went into a levy and I called the Manager, and he was amazing! He told me the process and the things I could do to get current and by what date I had to pay. I went in on the last day that I could pay and he helped me close out the storage unit and assured me that I was not to late and I could still get my belongings. I have many things in there that have sentimental value and even though it cost me and arm and a leg to pay it, I was happy to because he made the difficult experience pleasant with his customer service. read more

Had rented a smaller sized unit for 2 years, over 100 bucks a month, dont know if thats good or bad. but when i went to get all my furniture out yesterday, i noticed my almost new couch was covered in old looking water spots and mildew all over it. When i went to file a claim i had asked what the process was, they said they would have the owner call me. no answer, so i called him. He said he would call me back and he did. Claiming that he saw no leakage in the unit (which the unit had nothing but gaps in the ceiling and floor by the door and the fact it hasnt rained in months here) so i dont know how he would figure that out without a test. Plus its all metal siding so isn't that stuff supposed to resist water rot and discoloration? i now know why their units have no lights inside, so you cant see your property until you get it out. Anyways, after that he said, insurance only covers water leakage, fire, theft. (I don't know the difference between water leakage and water damage, i wish he explained it to me) He basically refused to submit it, I'm glad i got a copy of everything from his wife, it had the numbers and addresses to the insurance. I'll submit it and also submit it to my insurance, my insurance will get the money. i mean, its only fair i trusted them to care for my property. I might as well threw a tarp over it and left it in my back yard, wouldve saved 100 bucks a month for 2 years and gotten the same results. Go somewhere else guys read more

This is a great storage facility. I was impress with how friendly and kind the management team is. They welcomed me with open arms. I liked how the management team handles there day to day operations they were very helpful in helping find the right storage unit. They genially care about their tenants. I was also impress with their prices. This facility is very affordable with top of the line security cameras. In my opinion this is the best storage facility in Salinas. read more

I found management and staff unethical at best and dishonest at worse. I was told one thing but company policy and procedures are something else. I feel I was lied to by staff in order to get late fees or take property in the storage unit. Their attitude is very unprofessional. I recommend you don't use this place! read more

If you want want your possessions stolen and then be told there is no proof that the unit was entered except by yourself and there will be no recompense, then go ahead and rent one of these units! Yes, that's correct. I was robbed and all I got from the manager was that it was impossible, please go away and write a nice review for us. ZERO help at all to try to find out what happened, YET IT DID HAPPEN. The perfect crime. I'll let you decide how that might have happened. I filed a police report, but they won't do anything either. Think it worth a one star? Two rent increases in first year. Of course I'm not renting there anymore. read more

I originally wrote off SPS due to the negative reviews on Yelp, but for some reason I called them. I spoke with Daniel. He was pleasant, informative and professional. After a few minutes of conversation, I told him that I didn't want to store my belongings at his facility because of the negative reviews. His response changed my mind! He didn't bash the bad reviewers, he simply stated that it made him sad that others would say things like that. His family has managed the facility for ten years! He invited me to the site and I accepted, I was treated well, professionally and with respect. Needless to say I rented a large unit with them, and first impressions have been good. Make your own call, see for yourself, but they deserve a chance for your business. Deals and offers change, and that's not necessarily under Daniels control. He earned my business and I am pleased with my decision. read more

I have had a unit with Security Public for 5 months during a crazy transition of moving out of the country. Because of the unprojected changes we experienced, our move plans consistently changed. Everyone at the storage was always so kind and accommodating. We had a 10x20 unit, and will all the rain we received earlier in the winter, I was pleasantly surprised that the unit was essentially sealed, nothing got damp or even smelled musty! With the additional security of the gates and cameras, I always felt safe and secure each time I had to do "work" in the unit. Not to mention my friendly unit neighbors... The staff was superb and I would strongly recommend securing a unit here if you are in the market. read more
