Lousy customer satisfaction by refusing to refund me for a mistake clerk made on a shipping item. I didn't want to use the US Post office to send 2 paperbacks to a military base, so I used UPS. Bad decision on my part. 1. Clerk couldn't get the address to work in computer, so she changed it so that it would work. 2. Cost $75 to ship two not very heavy paperbacks! 3. About 2-3 weeks later I got the paperbacks returned to me--by the US Post Office due to incorrect address. 4. UPS used the US postal service! So what was I paying them for? I went to the post office and the original address I used was valid, not the one the clerk used to fit the computer. And, I was told it would only cost $27 to send! The UPS store manager refused to refund and said I could get store credit of 50% off on future purchases up to $50. Really? That's how you compensate for me spending $75 on a package that wasn't delivered? Why would I go back to that store to save 50% and risk another botched job? Keep my $75, because obviously your business needs it. And in return you can keep my bad review! And this isn't a reflection on all UPS stores, which I do still use for notary's and photocopying, etc. I just won't go to the Del Monte Shopping Center UPS; and, now when I mail the US Postal service is my first choice. So you get 2 stars for teaching me this lesson the old school way of 'screw the customer'. read more

I went in here to ask about international postage and if I could try to staple a small booklet my son had made (8 pages of paper clearly with children's drawings on them). Something I've done at other copy places with no problem. The owner offered the stapler and I had some trouble with how they worked. At this point I had used maybe 3 staples? The front desk clerk then come over and says "If you're going to use that many staples, you're going to have to pay for them." And I asked - "ok, how much? 5 cents? 25 cents?" He just vaguely pointed to the back of the store. He just wanted to scold me! Idiotic store owner because I literally was going to pay for 4 international letters ($15?) afterwards, but I was so annoyed I just left. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been receiving top-notch service, from the terrific women serving me, at the UPS Store, Del Monte, in Monterey. Until today, when Manager Barbara, informed me, that the dozens of prints they had been producing for me the past 2 month's, should have had a $25.00 additional fee attached!? She explained, after my big surprise at this additional fee, that their store Laptop, did not have the proper program uploaded, in order to down-size my images, & so they had to charge me $25.00, so they could upload the resizing program necessary. So, you are charging your customer, an additional $25.00 fee, because you neglected to install the proper program on your store Laptop, needed to perform such a basic task, as re-sizing! You just lost a very good customer, because you, not I, did not have your 'laptop's' act together! My big kudo's! however, to the magnificent women at the Del Monte store, who gave me excellent customer service these last months, in making my resized prints. Manager Barbara ruined, in 5 minutes, what had been a month's-long, terrific business relationship, & all, over $25.00! read more

Highly incompetent worker "helped" me print out flyers for an event. She had zero knowledge of how to use the program on their computer and repeatedly messed up the print job through dumb short cuts. Took me a total of 1 hour to print 25 flyers. Management, I highly recommend firing this employee. If you need something done or assistance. Do not go to this location. read more

I learned the art of voodoo dolls just for the owner of this UPS Store - Barbara Cabina! I shipped a fragile package (a piece of sculpture) to a customer for my retail business. I paid extra money to have them pack it for the "Pack & Ship Guarantee" and then bought extra insurance. Well, you know how this story goes... the package arrived totally smashed, much to the disappointment of my customer. Barbara Cabina, the owner of the UPS Store, was not helpful at all. She was just f***ing rude to me. She would not arrange a pick-up of the smashed package. She would not honor the "Pack & Ship" guarantee. She would not honor my insurance. I had proof of the cost of the item and all my receipts from her shop. I asked her to pay me the $250.00 she owed me and she said, "That's not a lot of money to me." And I said, "Great. Then pay me." And she said, "You can leave or I'm going to call security." I wrote letters to the parent company of her franchise - Mailboxes, etc. (That's right - UPS doesn't even own The UPS Store, so don't expect them to honor you!) The lazy cowards at Mailboxes, etc. were no help. They took no responsibility whatsoever and tried to blame the whole event on me. I run several small businesses and believe that customer service is everything! If you agree, don't go to this awful place. My advice - use the United States Postal Service, where people have integrity. Or else, get a voodoo doll, some pins and matches, and go meet Barbara Cabina at the Del Monte UPS Store! read more

I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the manager I spoke with was extremely nice. However, I had to ship expensive jewelry to family members, I asked the young man at the front which was the best way to ship so nothing would break or be lost. He suggested an envelope and paying for it to be protected from machinery- he works here, so I trusted him. Several days later I got emails from my family members telling me that all they reviewed were empty envelopes with holes in them. EXPENSIVE JEWELRY WAS LOST! I should not have trusted the young man, but he works here, he should know the best way to protect things!!! I was furious so I went into the store to speak with a manager and he felt awful and took down my information to see what he can do... A month and a half later I haven't heard back. So as a proud "box owner" I may have a slightly different experience than the one timers who ship things at Christmas. The people who work there grab my mail for me when they see me pull up in my car. They've accepted pallets of product I've ordered without complaint and the place seems to be staffed adequately with very low turnover. They're in the mall so it gets super busy but I've still never waited long. Tip: Fridays are free popcorn day. Pack floss. I went to the Del Monte Center UPS store today to have my Christmas letters printed and was very impressed by the Civid safety precautions and the excellent customer service provided by Resa. Resa was very pleasant, knowledgeable, professional, and helped make my letter much better by suggesting minor changes that would help it fit the special paper I had and suggesting a more aesthetocally pleasing and festive font (I told her I welcomed help) . I closed my mailbox at this business several years ago after renting a box from them for well over a decade (and going through several owners and the move from elsewhere in the center in the process) after packages started going missing yet were tracked to the UPS store. The owner (Barbara, who has been mentioned repeatedly in other comments) tried to suggest I was mistaken, that I'd already picked up the package or the PO or UPS was at fault--she and her employees were blameless, of course. After the second inside job theft of an expensive piece of jewelry (which was insured but I couldn't claim because according to USPS it was "delivered") and I got into a screaming match with her (which she started) I closed my mailbox and good riddance to people who smile and take your rent money and then steal your packages. I assumed when it changed hands things would improve--nope. I will never rent a mailbox again due to my experience with Barbara (there are so many loopholes for abuse like stealing parcels if you rent from places like this), but the new owners or at least their employees are no better in my experience. Maybe they are polite and professional with people who rent or who are regular customers, but walk-ins with a simple printing need or needing to ship something UPS...expect to be treated like something you scrape off your shoe. I've gone there twice now and both times I was ignored in preference for the clerk talking on her phone or carrying on a prolonged and personal conversation with another customer and when I was finally waited on, I came away wondering how the heck they stay in business when they treat paying, polite (and patient) customers like this. Adding insult to injury what they charge for a single photocopy is ridiculous. One even tried to charge me extra when she accidentally printed a black and white invoice in color and on the back of labeling paper, which made the writing on the invoice almost unreadable due to the instructions on the peel-away backing on the label paper. I'd clearly asked for a simple black and white photocopy but she claimed otherwise. After a brief argument and another customer stepping in and saying he'd heard me ask for a black and white photocopy, she relented but still charged me for a terrible, almost unreadable copy, acting as if she was doing me a favor for only charging for a black and white photocopy. Avoid this store--I know I will in the future. If I could give them a minus star I would. read more

Previous reviewers are spot on. Wish I'd visited Yelp sooner! Because the branch where my mailbox is is in the process of closing, three weeks ago I signed a one-year contract with this branch. When I realized there was a more convenient branch for me in Monterey, I signed up with that, then asked Barbara to cancel my mailbox after subtracting for one month. WOW what awful service. Barbara could use some phone etiquette lessons - she was short, curt, and rude. Said I'd signed a contract for one year and it was non-refundable, and that was that. Said it was UPS policy, nothing she could do. I had to call to follow up because she "was too busy" to answer an email I'd sent asking to cancel. So now I have a mailbox that will sit empty for one year, and I'm out $240. I have been a UPS mailbox customer for many years and I'm stunned by my experience at this branch. Do yourself a favor and avoid. Needless to say I will discourage anyone from doing business here. read more

The worst UPS experience of my life. After dealing with Barbra the "manager" at this UPS I will never use UPS ever again and I will make it my goal to tell everyone I know how horrible this UPS location is andthe company as a whole. I recently moved to Hawaii from Monterey CA and went to UPS to ship my $1500 TV and XBOX. I paid $561 to ship them to Hawaii and even paid the extra amount to insure the packagae. The package of course came damaged and so I went through the whole hell of UPS's claims process. After 4 months of myself calling UPS each tim and never recieveing a call from them, they denied my claim and cited it was "incorrectly packaged" because we packaged it ourselves. This upset me because the manager Barbara that we purchased the claim through never told us that UPS could deny the insurance claim if it wasn't packaged correctly!! I would have just paid for her to pack it!! Now I am out of a tv and XBOX and the $561 I paid. So then I called the store to ask if I could at least get the $561 I paid to ship the package since I wouldn't be getting the insurance claim money and she said to me "stop trying to get money, you're not going to get any money." Is this how UPS treat their customers? where is the customer service??!! Who says this to a paying customer when they are the ones who broke my items?!?! At this point I just ask if she can at least just send my damaged merchandise back to and she told me I would have to pay for ithat! UPS was the one that took the package back for "claim inspection purposes"!!!!! How is this legal?!?! No one at this store tried to help me or even see my side. I am extremely upset and outraged that the manager of this establishment is allowed to speak and treat customers like this and get away with it, it's just unacceptable. If you want to ever use UPS I urge you to use USPS, FedEx or at least another UPS store other than this one. read more

If I could give negative stars and cuss up a storm I would. Walked in during my lunch as I needed to mail a few cards overseas. From what I see here the person who waited on me, is the owner Barbara. Well...Barbara was wrapping up a conversation with a customer. From said conversation I know that Barbara feels that she is aging (you are!) and that she has no "glow" (you don't), and that she is looking for some type of exfoliation to look better (you're beyond help). I also know that the said and recommended esthetician has a Groupon? for a $150.00 and it includes a manicure and massage. Barbara reluctantly takes my mail and then proceeds to give me the worst attitude ever. I am not sure why though - I walked into a store to mail items - do they not do that? I said nothing about having to wait - I asked a few questions for example "Is the price the same at a post office?". Then I was surprised that the cost was so inexpensive, so I simply asked if the correct amount of postage was added. Then when I asked to pay with a card, I received...AN EYE ROLL!!!!!!!!! I have not given an eye roll or received one since I was in 5th grade. The charge was $4.50 sure - but I had no cash. This is perfectly acceptable elsewhere. I thanked her still and said "have a good day". She remained silent. I was so baffled by this exchange that I walked out but then had to actually go back to ask if I had offended her. I honestly in all my years on the Peninsula only had this horrible of an experience with service at two other establishments (my reviews are testiment to this) - Vapor Cleaners and then the other cleaners on Forest Hill. Some advice, dear: There isn't a facial out there that is going to help you glow! It may help if you weren't such a Bee-yatch. WORD TO YOUR MAMA (that's if you were birthed by a human). read more

This is the best UPS store in Monterey county. The service here is the best. Can't say enough about how you are treated here and the owners make all the customers feel welcome. One time they even offered me free Moto GP tickets. Fast and easy service. Prices are very reasonable. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because parking can be limited and tricky. read more

The UPS store changed owners, and I was concerned it wouldn't be as wonderful as it was. Oh, was I ever pleasantly surprised. Matt, AJ, Dylan, Steve and Jen are so nice and efficient. I have been in the store a few times when Matt has been under tremendous pressure (I'd be pulling my hair out if it was me) and he kept his cool and his focus- amazing to watch. Not all UPS stores are created equal. The nuances are created by the staff and their helpfulness and professionalism. We were a rowdy crew of four who just met to sign and get a contract notarized. Although we were unorganized the notary understood completely what to do, and completed the task quickly and efficiently. I was massively impressed. Avoid the UPS Store in Del Monte Shopping Center at all costs!!! The owner lacks personal skills and is not friendly at all. Her employees do not know how to operate the UPS shipping system...example-I shipped Christmas packages from her store last year. Her employee did not enter the addresses correctly into the UPS system, misspelled several names, placed addresses on the wrong packages, and did not provide a shipping receipt until prompted. She deemed it necessary to step in and take over the process since he could not finish the process. Upon entering her store today to ship again to an address already in the system, she rudely told me to leave since I am 'not happy there.' I left with the shipping envelope I was about to purchase from her store, in hand. It is unbelievable to me that in this day and age that an owner and human being can act so selfishly, immaturely and unprofessional to a paying customer; and pay we did-we've had tons of thigns notarized and shipped from her store. All I can is, her loss! Please do not patronize her store. There are other better UPS stores on Lighthouse Ave and Fremont Street in Monterey that will be willing to help you. Thank you. read more

Ding-Dong the Witch is Dead" I just heard today that this store in Del Monte Center was recently bought by the same owners of the UPS Store in Carmel, where I currently do business -- and I might add, receive exceptionally good, professional service. Too bad they didn't take over when I had my address in Del Monte Center......until 18 months ago. For twenty years, and through three owners, I did business at that location. The third owner , who just recently either quit the business or got deservedly booted was the game changer -- and for good reason. In the past, and for the benefit of doubt, I overlooked their mistakes and practices that were dubious to say the least. However, after the sixth time of going into the store and hearing the owner scream at her in-law / employee three feet away, I had had enough. I leaned towards her and bluntly said, I didn't appreciate her yelling and dressing down her employee in front of me. I went further and said that it was bad for business and if she had an issue with an employee, she should do it after hours or in private. She replied " I'm sorry, but if you don't like it you can go someplace else " I said that was just what I intended to do and said her behavior was inexcusable and unprofessional. She went on to say my mail would be destroyed after 60 days, citing policy or some such nonsense. I should have stopped doing business with them years ago when I paid $180.00 for a weekend delivery of an emergency part that UPS claimed to have delivered but I never received. I know this because I literally sat in my car and waited right outside the store for several hours. Someone was lying - either UPS or the store's then owner. Obviously, my experience is not isolated, given the previous poster's reference to learning the art of Voodoo dolls. (I almost lost bladder control over that one) So...Let's get this straight: you're in a business of which you deal directly with the public and you treat paying customers like dirt. Hey good plan...Great social skills....if you live in North Korea that is. UPS is horrible enough when it comes to fessing up to a costly mistake, so dealing with the "Store Owner From the Black Lagoon" is the last thing I want. This is a whole new experience with the new owners! Today was my first visit since the change of ownership and I knew something was up when the door was opened for me and the guy offered to help me with my packages. He was professional, weighed my packages I was returning, put the return labels on them, gave me a receipt with the tracking #'s and told me if I had any questions or problems, to please call or stop in. It's the difference between night and day. They even offer free, fresh popped popcorn. It doesn't get any better! read more
