My situation started off with a frustrating problem. I had sent a Priority Mail box for delivery in Carmel but for some reason it was not delivered at destination because of a "problem " with the address and it was returned to me in New York. I called and spoke with Leo and today, Linda (Lulu) and explained to them that while I had sent previous packages to this same address and that they were delivered , I was very unhappy to get this one back and wasn't sure why this happened. Not only did I pay for that original service, but now I was reshipping the same box only to have to pay once more. I was desperate to make sure that there was not a repeat performance when the shipment arrived there next week. Really lousy customer service from manager JR. We have rented a PO box at this location for many years. Since we live out of the area most of the time, it's really convenient to have a local delivery address. We paid our most recent bill ($166 annually for a small box) by mail one week in advance of the 1/31 due date printed on our bill. A few weeks later, I was in town and went to check our box, only to find I had been locked out. When I asked to speak to the manager (JR) he advised me that notices were slipped into boxes in early January that customers had to pay for their renewal by 1/9 in order to avoid a rate increase to $198. If you were out of town during the holidays and didn't get the notice, too bad. Even though we had paid the $166 bill on time, he demanded an additional $32 PLUS a $25 late fee. According to JR, we were responsible for accessing our box on a daily basis in order to receive and act on any such notices of fee increases - even those which conflicted with the bill we were previously mailed. Really? Daily? Where is this ridiculous policy written? JR insisted that this requirement was printed on the USPS PO Box application, but couldn't show me where - because it is not. Bottom line, this Louis DeJoy wannabe could care less about being fair to loyal customers. read more

This Carmel-by-the-Sea site is large and the wait was not long. However, I found Will's sense of humor was not too funny. (Lately I have encountered several USPS workers who seem too chatty. All I want is service.) I was surprised to be told he could not add some extra tape to the priority box. I have never encountered that before. Perhaps he just didn't have a tape roll at his window. He reluctantly added two small "priority" stickers in both ends of the box. Also I almost got short changed. Glad I was alert as I would have ended up with one dollar and change back rather than a five dollar bill and change. I had bought an anniversary gift for my husband from amazon to be delivered to our home in Carmel and got a reply that it had been delivered, but could not find it anywhere. After verifying the right address waiting 3 days, I contacted the post office in Carmel (crossroads) and spoke with LuLu. She was very kind and polite and promised she would find the package. The Carmel USPS is the most unreliable service for packages. SEVERAL times we were notified by the businesses (not just Amazon) that our package was scanned and delivered, only to find out that neither had occurred. After our packages were delivered to another address, multiple times, I went to ask the USPS supervisor if they could ensure that our packages could be delivered to us. He refused to meet with me. Came to PO twice because Amazon order history indicated 3 shipments "were placed in mailbox". The problem, is...I don't have a mailbox! (rent in Carmel). JR told me the postal carrier, who is a long time employee, put the packages in a mailbox on a different street. JR told me it was "delivered", and I have no recourse, despite having *never received* my three packages! The other employees at the post office are very nice. Hello my delivery was ok but usps isn't taking taking the right steps to helping keep everyone safe my daughter was gonna go and take her packages and the employee was not wearing a mask or gloves we do not appreciate this immature behavior because I'm trying to keep my children safe and well and even if you guys check there temperatures witch I'm not sure if you do symptoms could take up to 2 weeks to show so please take this seriously because we need you to please tell your employees to do so because we don't need other getting sick And she got asked questions that where not horrible but definitely information they don't need to know and my daughter felt uncomfortable!!!!!! Terrible! I went there to get a money order this morning. There was a long line of customers, but only two of the five counters were open. Then, instead of opening up more counters, the lady from one of the counters left. Someone was trying to buy a money order, but nothing was working. He was first given a money order for an incorrect amount. Then, when he requested a correction, the staff claimed that the printer was not working. After waiting for 30 minutes, I asked them and learnt that a new printer was installed recently and it was not printing money orders correctly. So I left and went to the Chase bank nearby and got a cashier's check instead---it took just 5 minutes there. I keep reading news that USPS is losing money; with such inefficiency, I do not know how they would ever make money! read more

I have had the Carmel Post Office at Crossroads lose packages, carelessly handle packages until they are broken or smashed, and received other neighbors mail and packages. They continue to say the item was placed in my mailbox, but upon inspecting, the package is not there. They will not answer the phone, so I have to make a trip to the Post office to inquire, only to be met by the clerk saying 'well someone must have stolen it out of your mail box'. They are rude, unprofessional, and inept at a simple task of finding the right mailbox. I only wish I could use another service for my mail and packages. Unfortunately, Amazon only uses USPS. The latest package lost was a pair of eyeglasses that originally cost $1,000 that had been repaired and shipped. The company did not insure the glasses, so I am just out $1,000, thanks to the Post Office. read more

The best Post Office I've been to! The Good: - Wil is the best! He consistently provides fast, friendly customer service. He makes quick work of long lines and I've never seen him without a smile on his face or without a kind word for every customer. Plus, he's funny too! I don't think I've ever laughed out loud while waiting in line before. - Always clean and well-stocked. The Not-So-Good: - There's only one Wil. - The parking lot is tricky- be careful! Entering from Rio Rd. requires a left, then a quick right and I'm always afraid I'm going to be rear-ended. Pulling out is always and adventure. Cars are allowed to park very close to the exit making it difficult to see oncoming traffic. There's often confusion between the folks using the drive-thru mailboxes and the regular exit lanes. read more

I had to solve a problem with adding a signer to a list of those who can access the P.O. Box for a non-profit organization. Mr. R.J. Valeriano was extremely professional, going out of his way to solve the problem and allowed me to pay for the Carmel P.O. Box at his station vs. have to go to Carmel to do so. Be cautious! The parking lot of this location is a safety hazard! I work in an office building across the street and can't tell you how many times there have been fender benders or how often we hear honking because of people coming and going from here. Seriously, people... SLOW DOWN when driving down Via Nona Marie. Half the time, the drivers pulling out of the post office or other driveways nearby, can't easily see past some of the cars parked on the side street to know you're coming... The other issue is they need to repaint the arrows at the entrance and exit of the lot and put back up proper signage indicating each. The exit sign was taken out when a lady rammed her car through it and one of the drive-up mail boxes a couple of years ago but was never replaced! Of course, it's not going to stop everyone from going in the wrong way (some people just don't care) but it could at least help minimize some of the confusion and almost accidents that occur because of it. As for the inside service here, I've never had any issues or had to wait too long. There's usually 2 clerks working the front line. One of the perks of working nearby is I can just look out my window to gauge how busy it may be and know when to head over. We have, however, had issues a few times of mail getting misdelivered to us at the mailbox in our building. And I'm talking about a full stack of mail (10+ pieces) each time being delivered to us for an office that is across the street (different building number and business name) that just happens to be the same suite number. Our box is labeled with our business name (inside and out) yet some of the mail being put inside, clearly has a different business name. We've gone to the post office to advise them of this error a few times, yet it keeps happening... It's gotten to the point where we've just taken the mail to the other business, but really, we shouldn't have to if it is being sorted and delivered properly. Makes you wonder if [some of] our mail could be getting delivered somewhere else too... read more

I just went to send a package while the office was about to close (which I wasn't aware of). Will was so friendly and kept it open a little longer with no complaints. I do not recommend this post office for passport processing. The passport processor, Raquel, was very insensitive and rude. I am a full time working mom who had scheduled an appointment for my 5 year old twins renewals, arrived on time with my husband with all documents needed only to be told the camera was broken. She had my phone number but never bothered to call me to let me know so that I could have gotten photos taken elsewhere on the way. Not even an apology for the inconvenience or a recommended solution. I went to a nearby UPS store, got their photos and returned within an hour only to be treated by her with sarcasm about cancelling my appointment. She refused to speak with me directly, sent over her supervisor who wasn't able to process the passport applications and she simply refused to do so. Anywhere else and she would have been fired for her behavior towards a respectable customer. You are at their mercy, unfortunately, but there are other post offices so please choose another. read more
