I found a couple that fit the specs I needed but they were pretty pricey and didn't include the countertop or sink. I found a nicer model elsewhere that also included the countertop and sink and the price was less! Maybe it depends upon when you stop in to see what they have in stock. After almost two years of having our granite kitchen counters installed, the counters are already starting to turn colors due to water/oils being soaked into the granite. This means that the granite was NOT properly sealed. I have done a lot of research that explains how the granite is supposed to be sealed before installation to avoid the granite soaking in moisture/oils. I clean up every spill or mess as soon as it is made to ensure we don't have staining. This is so disappointing because our beautiful gray with cranberry bits countertop that I have always dreamed of and we spent a lot of money on now look dark and stained. read more

I have actually been coming here for years, but have never reviewed them. I have bought several things over the years and have found that their prices like everyone else's have been creeping up quite a bit. The difference is and surplus has prices seems to have caught up with the other guys. This used to be a place where I felt like you could get pretty good deals but anymore I think you can get just as good of a deal at many other places. What terrible quality!! ...and untrained salespeople who don't know the products as well as bad customer service. We had major issues with the door leaking from around the middle glass right away. Originally, I was told it was powder coated, and there is no way powder coating could come off that fast. Either way, the finish was completely flaking off in less than a year....and it just got worse and worse with no simple way to remedy it. I am a General Contractor in Plano, TX. Against my better judgement, my customer talked me into getting the doors from Seconds and Surplus in Richardson on Arapaho drive. I went along with it because Antonio (2nds employee) told me they had most of the doors in stock, and the rest they could have within a couple of weeks, even if special ordered. We ordered 22 doors, 18 Interior 3 panel solid core, and 4 exterior all custom with ADA thresholds. We started that on Sept. 28th. Seconds and Surplus was to come out and measure all the doors to insure they were ordered correctly. I paid $100 for this measure from seconds and surplus so, if anything happened and the doors were not correct the liability to fix it would be on seconds and surplus. These doors had to be exact because of the fact the customer had ADA requirements and the doors could not be shimmed up from the bottom. When the guy came out to measure the doors, he measured them all incorrectly. He measured them all too short. I went back and removed the casing on the tops of the doors so I could see the actual rough measured space allowed and made my own printed document and emailed it over to Antonio. I brought up the fact that the doors were measured incorrectly by their measure person. The doors were ordered, and they came in. Seconds had the "Meth Head Express" deliver the doors in which 2-3 of the doors were damaged in transit. They brought the doors in the house and left them. My installer went in the next day to install the doors. Out of 11 doors sent (partial order not full) to us, we were not able to make one functioning door out of all the pieces we had. Either the 32" doors had the wrong frame, or they were damaged, or the swing was not right. No doors able to be installed I then was out in contact with Jordan (Store manager). All hopes were back-up as I had the "Store Manager" listening to me and all is promised to be well. I was told by Jordan, that he was sending a better quality of all new doors out that were not "Chinese" doors and much better doors that would be pre-framed instead of having a jamb kit that had to be assembled. I don't know why I was not given the option for the better-quality doors at the time of the sale, but nevertheless, I need my doors. When the new "better" doors arrived, they were in much better shape even though a couple of those doors were damaged again by the meth head express on the way to the job site. I still have not received my exterior doors and a couple of the interiors at this point. They were to follow up on a future shipment along with the damaged doors. When they dropped the new doors off, they didn't take the lesser quality "Chinese" doors back with them, requiring yet another rendezvous with the meth express. Nov. 8th, I received the exterior doors to find them all wrong and basically a stock 80" tall door and not the custom doors I listed, spoke, emailed, and texted about to Antonio and Jordan. When the guys got ready to pick up the "Chinese doors" I was told they could not come into the house to pick them up??? I totally did not understand this, as it was the same company that brought them and placed them there, now would not come in the house and take them. After several phone calls and waiting around they indeed decided they could come in the house to get the doors to return. Now, I have 20 days before my customer moves in and I cannot utilize the doors I have. I am beyond myself as to how special of a person it would take to make this many mistakes repeatedly. Buyer Beware. These guys will tell you whatever you want to hear, until they swipe your card for merchandise. Then you have entered their lair of lies and deception and you are stuck there, especially if you believe them. Good luck to you... Try Builders Surplus instead. read more

Ordered a full set of cabinets. They sat in storage untouched for over a month because of a construction set back. One was damaged and i contacted the business. I didn't receive a follow up email and i got busy with work and a bit of time went by before i could contact them again. I did speak to a rude person regarding this however when i talked to the correct person they are going to make it right. The rest of the cabinets were great for the price. I am having a bad experience with this store. They promised me a door that had to be special ordered to be ready and in my hands in a matter of two to three weeks. Now I am unable to rent my property as I am still waiting for the darn door. They keep telling me it is not their fault but the manufacturer's but that is irrelevant to me. i've been a customer in seconds and surplus for going on 25 years. It continually has gone downhill and customer service has been lacking in every area. I was recently there trying to purchase a couple of used doors and one boss told me that they were the displays. The second boss told me that they were rejects from a customer. The third boss told me that they came from another store, so take your choice I guess seems like a car lot sales people. Buyer beware. While yes, they do have some low prices, be sure what you buy meets code if you are flipping a house. We bought over $2000 worth of french doors & were assured they met code requirements only to put them in & be told by our inspector that they did not have the appropriate stickers. When we called the store, the store manager rudely told us that we bought from a surplus store so we are stuck w them. Also, NEVER buy tile or anything boxed from them unless you are ok w paying for boxes of damaged product if there happens to be any. They do NOT guarantee or refund in those cases. read more

Most impressive was the customer service. I had at least six people assist me and they also provided a list of suggested contractors. He was absolutely excellent in representing this business. He provided us exactly what we needed to help us make decisions out of their large selection. I bought a door for my shower $800 dollars yes in Seconds and Surplus, well during the trip from store to my house we tear the packing box and we brake a glass :( yeap. Any way i call to store to let them know what happen and we trying to buy a replacement glass and this guys told me that they do not sell replacement parts they told me if i need another glass i need to buy the complete door again. I also bought a faucet from them and i asked if for any reason i loose or misplace a single bolt or lug nut what can i do to get a replacement and they told me again YOU NEED TO BUY ANOTHER FAUCET. This place employs a random selection of amateurs that have no idea how to design and no absolutely nothing about how the install process actually works. Close to nothing was accurate from what I was initially told. I was even sold a model of cabinet that they did not have anymore. They did not respect my schedule, my budget, my requests, or there word. The only reason I stuck with them was because I had already torn out my kitchen. I regret everything about the decision to ever talk to anyone at this location. The granite was fine because it's a third party company. The install itself was okay because it was also a third party. I have shopped at Seconds and Surplus for many years for the most part the merchandise is Fair Quality. In September 2019 I Purchased a few thousand dollars of merchandise at the Seconds and Surplus on Arapahoe Road Richardson Texas.All merchandise purchased fair quality. The exception a bathtub, as they were bringing out the tub I checked And it was damaged, subsequently after two additional tubs were brought out all were damaged. Just to let you know I Purchased a brand new one from seconds and surplus, Got a refund on the tub, but it was reluctantly given. So I went to Home Depot and bought a brand new one made out of better materials and actually cost less than what seconds and surplus was selling as new. Do not buy any bathroom fixtures from seconds and surplus they're poor quality. I also bought prehung six panel clear pine doors for the interior of the project.For the most part the doors were correct but there was one door in particular that The sales person and myself reviewed several times, Unfortunately those doors were not checked when they were picked up by my contractor. The sales person at seconds and surplus wrote the order and we did have a long discussion about the swing of the door. The swing of the door was wrong and seconds and surplus was unwilling to take the door back and make it right. So my most negative comment about seconds and surplus is they are not capable of doing anything custom or out of the ordinary they're very good at off-the-shelf products that are a fair quality my biggest caution is when you pick anything up from that store you must check it with a fine tooth comb because they don't not stand behind their products and it's like pulling teeth to return anything to that store. If you're buying anything you need custom or out of the ordinary, buy from a larger retailer that stands behind their products, seconds and surplus is just not one of those type stores. When calling to the store to let them know that the order was wrong they were unwilling to change and make good the order. I would not recommend purchasing anything that needs specialty or custom specific specifications from Seconds and surplus for they are not capable of understanding or fulfilling the simplest of details that custom projects need. We had to remodel our kitchen following damage from the freeze in Dallas this past February. We were unable to find replacement cabinets anywhere. We walked into seconds and surplus never expecting to find everything we wanted and needed! We had the great fortune to meet Eric Reading who helped to design a beautiful... and very practical kitchen for us. It is an absolute dream. We cannot say enough about how amazing and what an enjoyable process it turned out to be. In spite of the delays encountered that everyone has been experiencing, Eric was communicative and did as much as humanly possible to make it all possible. In addition, we'd like to thank Amy Reynolds, the Install manager. Although there were a few minor adjustments that needed to be done, she responded quickly and professionally. This is the premier place to buy materials to build/update you home. They have wonderful stuff, not the cheap crap that most other places that we shopped carried. Their vanity selection was the absolute best anywhere and the prices are just GREAT! Their granite is absolutely gorgeous, and a lot to pick from. They also have entry doors, mantles, tile, faucets, vessel sinks and a lot more. Customer service is BEST of the BEST! I used the richardson location to do a complete laundry room remodel. It seemed like a straightforward project, but I never got an email from them after the initial measurements. I had to call them. I went back in and they drew up plans to install extra deep cabinets and an open cabinet base to be converted into a bench seat, and crown molding. Then nothing. No calls, no emails. I called them back and They told me to go to their granite supplier and choose the granite and they would install it all in three weeks. The cabinets finally arrived and they were a standard depth and they did not have crown molding and said they could not install crown molding with these cabinets. This was never mentioned previously. They did not bring the granite with them and told me to go back to the granite remnant shop a second time to look at the granite again and pay for it. They were not installing it but subcontracting it out. When I arrived at the granite shop they wondered why I was there since I had already chosen the granite and I don't pay until after it is installed. When they brought the granite to install it the grain of the granite was pointed towards me as I faced the cabinets and the grain of the granite on the bench seat next to it was lengthwise which is the way the other piece should have been as well. They said they had to cut it that way because the remnant was small. I had them pull it right back out. I will find a different granite company on my own. I felt like the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing through this whole ordeal. Caution. Make sure everything is in writing detail by detail. read more

We just spent 30,000 with them and when you purchase an installation you get a $200 credit towards a sink, they added the 200 credit on the contract as the sink was on the floor and we purchased it, it turned out to be wrong color so we returned sink and purchased another one elsewhere as they did not carry the sink needed anymore, so without any communication they put our countertops on hold for $200!! Without telling us due to the mess up on their end, as you cannot add the 200 on the contract so now we are delayed on our installation and paying them the 200 and cannot pickup a new sink until the installation is done wtf!!! will not be using them again as it has been a cluster from the start. read more

We wanted a pre-hung steel door. The Richardson store said they didn't have one and sent us all the way to Grand Prairie. When we got there we found out that the steel door they had didn't open the right direction, and they didn't have another one that opened the right way in either steel or fiberglass. They said, "But our Richardson store has a fiberglass door just like what you want." So we drove back to the Richardson store and purchased the fiberglass door instead of the steel one we wanted. Oh well. Their guys loaded it onto the truck for us without alerting us to the bad ding on the door. We had our installers put in the door, and only after it was installed did we see the ding. When we let the store know about it, after some resistance, they gave us a rebate on the dinged door. Thanks for great customer service! read more
