She seemed a little overwhelmed that I had a huge bag of items. 3 of the items she looked over and told me she couldn't get it done without a helper, and that was totally fine by me. The measurements for the other 5 items took about 30 minutes. She quoted $15 for 3 buttons, $50 and $70 for the other two pants that needed to be hemmed (a pair of viscose/polyester trousers and a faux leather pant). I felt that the two pants hemmed were out of my budget, and asked her if she could just do the 3 buttons and not the pants. I also offered to compensate her for her time, as I was there for a while for the measurements. She then told me she was too busy to do the buttons, or any of my clothes, and sent me out of the store refusing service. She was still relatively polite throughout this whole exchange. I think it is within her right to refuse service because it is out of her scope or she is too busy. But I think she ended up turning me away because she was offended? I'm not sure if there is an etiquette for me to reduce the scope of the work?

The shirt is factually not in its original condition. One side is shorter than the other. The original condition would require not cutting off the thread in the first place. The fact that you think cutting off a part of the shirt, and then re-attaching it, makes it "original condition" speaks volumes. Terrible, ruined my $200 shirt by cutting off a chainstitch run-off when I asked for sleeves to be shortened. When I brought this up, she became defensive and told me she was doing me a favor by cleaning up loose threads. Completely incompetent. First, she has no idea what a chainstitch run-off is, which speaks to her lack of experience. Second, she has no concept of duty of care. Third, she has no sense of responsibility to own up to her mistake, and instead insists that she 'did me a favor.' I understand making mistakes, but she I think truly doesn't she is at fault, as she said she will keep cutting threads off for her customers. The incompetence and lack of self awareness is almost laughable.

She's also old, and doesn't speak English well, but shae has always been very nice to me, and I make an effort to be kind to her as well. When you try your clothes on she knows exatly what needs to be done. I know we're not really wearing our finery during COVID, but if you can find it in your heart to support this small, immigrant-owned business, I know she would appreciate it. She tailored the living heck out of that shirt and now it's one of my favorites. I have turned to her repeatedly ever since for exactly this kind of work: tailoring menswear. She's perfectly customized slacks, jackets and many button-up shirts and her prices are remarkably reasonable. I brought another shirt to a different tailor much closer to where I live and was charged twice as much for similar work. Cho is a keeper.

The time to also get your one basic alterations done are way too long...so if you are in a rush don't come here. The woman who owns the shop is not horrible, but for sure she is not friendly...at all. I also thought it was an oddity to pay up front. I have lived in Los Angeles, Manhattan, Chicago and I have never been asked to pay up front. The shop itself is clean and well organized, my alterations were done OK. But that is about it. There is no outstanding customer service besides overcharging and taking money. There is barely a hello and a thank you. When I came back to get my item, it was thrown haphazardly into a plastic bag...not hung on a hanger or anything, so when I got home, I had to steam an item that was brand new...to get all the wrinkles out (that was not wrinkled when I dropped it off). The shop doesn't have me wanting to rush to give them my business.
