This place deserves 0/5 rating for their service and ruining my dress. The guy who does alteration here doesnt know sewing and doesnt put efforts in making right alteration. I asked him to cut the train of my dress, and the final dress I have is long from front, shorter from back and its super super short on the side. I would have used scissors by myself and trimmed the train better than him. This place sucks at alterations, dont come here unless you want to get something ruined. I got my 600$ dress altered, the guy who sits here charged me 100$ for it. read more

Though I've only had one experience at Queen Anne Tailors, I'd say it is a reliable place to get your tailoring done. I needed a gown hemmed with less than 1 month notice, and they took it without grumbling. They had it ready the morning of the day I requested it be finished. The price was about $130, which seemed a bit pricy but I went through with it anyway. I asked for the front of the gown to just touch the floor and have a slight train in the back - I think they did a good job overall. The bottom of the gown (the area they hemmed) looks good as new (no strings hanging off). When I tried it on afterwards I think it's ever so slightly shorter than what I wanted, but barely. I would return here if I needed another tailoring job. The staff seemed to be good, honest people who care about their work. Though, if you're looking for somewhere very cheap, I suggest going elsewhere. read more

I had two pairs of pants hemmed. The work was good, if pricey. The thing that will likely keep me from coming back: the person who helped me both times made just the barest effort to be polite. Wasn't rude but also not welcoming--curt, unsmiling, and just gave off an unwelcoming vibe. I know that ultimately it's the quality of the work that matters, but customer service matters as well. A simple smile and how are you goes a long way when you're interacting with customers. read more

I went here to get two dresses taken in--I scheduled a consult online through their website. It was pretty easy..I got there, tired on the dresses, talked through what needed to be done, and got an estimate. I paid up front via credit card and got a pick up stub I would need upon returning. It was more expensive than I anticipated but if the work is quality and the clothes are tailored to you so you'll actually wear them? Worth it. I wasn't in need of them in a rush, so it was about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks I think? When I came to pick them up, they looked great, stitching was well done and they were able to take out the bottom seam of one to make it a bit longer. One was a work dress with a back zipper and I couldn't even tell it was altered, but it fit much better! Happy with how they turned out. I recommend them if you need work done on your clothes. read more

Expensive and did a terrible job. I brought in a dress and a pair of pants to be hemmed and was quoted 100$ for the dress hem and 55$ for the pants hem. This seemed insanely expensive for two simple hems. I ended up having the pants hemmed and they are SO BADLY done. Loose threads and seams already coming apart (see photo). I'm so confused when I compare to the review below me that I wonder if i ended up at a business next door with a duplicate sign or something, or maybe the guy working just had a bad day. I walked in and the guy working berated me for having the audacity to ask if they could help me either create a waistline in a dress or take a strip of fabric off the inner layer to create a little fabric tie/belt. he literally raised his voice and threw his hands up and then refused to help me with it. i then asked about a different dress that just needed 2in hem and one single spaghetti strap in the back to be shortened an inch. He offered to have it back to me in 2 wks (which was fine, i said no rush) and tried to charge me $99.99 for a hem and shortening of 1 tiny strap. I'm flabbergasted and sad that i wasted an hour of my time between driving and having these conversations. read more

This was my first time ever going to a tailoring shop, and I came in with a maxi wrap dress that I needed hemmed for a wedding. After going to one place that couldn't finish it time for me, (I got it Wednesday and needed it done by Saturday) Queen Anne Tailors was the 2nd place I called and they said they could do it in time. So I went in, tried it on, and was told I could pick it up at 11 (I had to leave by 1:30 for the wedding). Low and behold, I picked it up and it was absolutely flawless. The color of the seams were 100% identical to the dress, and it looked so natural and I never would've guessed it was altered in any way at all. I give it 4 stars because I wish I paid a little less than $82, but I know now that it is very well worth the cost for such good work done. The tailoring is decent, but I've been in a few times and always feel like I'm being taken for a ride. First time was a suit and pair of jeans which was paid up front- about $160. When I went to pickup I was told that he had undercharged me and it was going to be an additional $25, but we went through the breakdown of the initial charge and I had paid in full. Second visit was for another hem and I realized that the total I was quoted ($20 plus tax) was different than the amount I was being charged (about $24). Not a huge difference, but was told "the credit card machine charges a fee" with no signage anywhere to indicate this and he acted as though he had no control over the decision to pass along his CC fees to his customers. Last visit was for another hem and was told it would be $25 plus tax instead of the $20 it was not 2 weeks earlier. Nope. There are plenty of other spots to go instead. read more

I want to start off by saying that I'm the kind of guy that believes there is nothing more important to looking your absolute best and to being fashionably good-looking than having a great tailor. As a bodybuilder, I dont have a size that work with anything off the rack. I have broad shoulders and a smaller waist so any jacket, shirt, or coat that fits me well in the shoulders always need work to bring in the torso and waistline. Additionally, because I have well developed thighs, many jeans and pants that fit my quads are too big in the waist. Suffice it to say that almost anything I buy requires tailoring so I'm pretty much at expert when it comes to tailors having dealt with many over the years. I moved to Seattle two years ago and started my hunt for a tailor. Found a couple of places that were acceptable, but nothing I'd classify as a winner. That it, until I discovered Queen Anne Tailors. These guys are the best. I've taken everything from a simple jeans hem and darted shirt to refitting a one-of-a-kind wedding tux I purchased in Paris to use for my wedding. These guys have NEVER disappointed me. In fact, they have never ceased to amaze me with their skills. I've asked them to even do some pretty whacky things to coats (I like to create my own fashion at times), and while they may think me strange, they always offer to do as I ask...and do it better than I ever thought possible. They surpass my expectations. While it might be true that they aren't the "warmest" in communications at first meeting, after having developed a rapport with them, I finally understand they cultural way of being more of a "listener" than a "touchy feely talkative" person like myself. Know what? It's just not a big deal. We all have our own way of communication. That being said, they are sympathetic and understand that what they do is based on what you need. Some people do not have personalities; This is fine. However, if this is you - and you open a tailoring business you should consider how your hesitance to communicate with others will impact your work. I brought a lovely dress in a few weeks ago, it needed some work and I suppose I'm spoiled to really good tailors that just start pinning you up. This gentleman worked on my dress and the part that they did was great work, but he never once realized that the bosom needed more work. Instead I found myself quite literally falling out of my dress at a wedding last week. It needed more work but the guy was so quick to get me in and out that either he ignored it or just didn't notice. For this reason I am going to brush up on my own sewing skills and take care of this sort of thing on my own from now on. I hate spending $30 on something that I have to do additional work on. read more

I am a men's wardrobe consultant as well as an outfitter for a made-to-measure menswear brand. I've brought my own clothing as well as clients' apparel to Yakov and his father Solomon, and I've been happy each time. They've worked on several blazers, suit coats, pants, jeans, and button-down shirts, all with very good results. One thing I appreciate about Queen Anne Tailors is that they'll tell you when an alteration doesn't make sense, whether it's due to the construction of the garment, the cost-effectiveness of the task, or the likelihood of the alteration not coming out right. This is a great service, as I value their honesty about what jobs to take and which to pass on; I'm glad they don't automatically say yes to every request. I did a closet clean-out with one of my clients, and we brought in a dozen shirts, 3 blazers, and 4 pairs of pants, all needing various tweaks. Yakov made recommendations for most of the garments, told us to pass on a couple of them, and then executed the alterations very nicely. A good tailor can be hard to come by. I'm no seasoned tailor-going veteran, but this place has it down. When momma's out of town or my needs require a bit more precision than at-home sewing remedies, I come to Queen Anne Tailors. Other than the $15 for jeans to be hemmed being a bit more than expected, this place produces quality work at reasonable prices. I have also taken two very different dresses here both with fantastic results. The first, a tiny little party number, was nipped in nicely to my waist and then allowed for it to skim back out for my badonkadonk (trust me, girl's got ass). It was a lined dress, which I know are often harder to stitch such that they lay flat, but this was done perfectly. The other dress was more blouson style and needed the sleeves and top de-volumized, as well as a tricky belt issue -- it was mostly woven but with a leather buckling assembly (such that just punching more holes was NOT an option due to symmetry). The guy I worked with wasn't comfortable undoing the belt body from the leather buckling, as it likely would have unwoven, so he came up with a fairly subtle way to fold it back in on itself (not actually removing any material) in the back. Every time I come up here, I'm reminded how beautiful Queen Anne is. The subconscious selling works! read more

I read good reviews, but I wouldn't ever go here again. I brought in my suit because it fit in the shoulders, but just about everywhere else it looked baggy. After putting it on, the guy told me that it "fits perfect" and he would just hem the pants. I told him I wanted a CUFF on the pants, and the jacket scooped, and the arms shortened to my wrist bone. He stuck three pins in and said, "that is all i need". Flash forward 3 days. The pants are HEMMED, not cuffed, the arms were not shortened at all. I tried to politely ask about it, but got a "I did what you wanted". Now I'm stuck taking it somewhere else, and $58 poorer. What a terrible experience. read more

Found myself in a crunch where I needed to actually rent a tuxedo for an event far away (the last tux I owned was for my wedding, 14 years ago, and no chance that I was going to fit int that). So I found an online place that rents tuxedos and ships them. The only thing is .... I need measurements. ASAP. I called Queen Anne Tailors and they said that yes, they'd do this. Couldn't tell the difference so took it back in, this time they took way too much in. They were nice enough to fix it in one day. I am probably one of the best procrastinators you'll ever know. I had to attend a wedding in the area last Saturday, and I bought my dress the same day I flew out from Los Angeles. I frantically called around Seattle in a desperate attempt to find any tailors that have quick turnaround times. Queen Anne Tailors specified that they could get my dress back to me the same day. And since they had a slew of good reviews, I was ecstatic. I dropped my dress off at noon the next day, and picked it up around 5:00pm. Though the employee specified to me that they would steam the dress after the job, this was apparently not done, since my dress is still visibly crinkled from my hasty attempt to stuff it in my duffle before embarking on my trip. Hm. No problem, I guess I could iron it myself. At the wedding, I noticed that the lining kept peeking through and underneath the main fabric. Generally, I would think that if the dress is hemmed, they would shorten the lining/slip underneath as well. This way, I wouldn't have encountered the trouble of having to constantly adjust my dress so that the lining did not show. What a poor, poor job that Queen Anne Tailors did. If you promise me something, I expect that you deliver. And Queen Anne Tailors didn't. Instead, I paid $28 for something to hold me over (at the very least) until I get their job finished elsewhere. read more

The dad altered my wedding dress weeks before my wedding, this was a complicated job with all the lace and bead work. When I got it back it fit like a glove and I couldn't be happier. Amazing work! They are expert tailors and I go to them a LOT. Ive lost a large amount of weight over the last several months, in addition to a body type where my torso & waist are much smaller in porportion to the rest of my body (full hips and thighs). So basically I need everything tailored or it bunches and sags. I absolutely love them, their work is excellent, they stay open late for me so I can get there in traffic and the prices are totally reasonable. I see there are a few negative reviews here and honestly with any business bad things can happen, thats the nature of it. But overall they are wonderful and reliable and I highly reccommend them. read more
