This place is just average. I live pretty close and needed an alteration, and so I decided to try them out. The prices on some of their services are ridiculous...I mean seriously overpriced. The time to also get your one basic alterations done are way too long...so if you are in a rush don't come here. The woman who owns the shop is not horrible, but for sure she is not friendly...at all. I also thought it was an oddity to pay up front. I have lived in Los Angeles, Manhattan, Chicago and I have never been asked to pay up front. The shop itself is clean and well organized, my alterations were done OK. But that is about it. There is no outstanding customer service besides overcharging and taking money. There is barely a hello and a thank you. When I came back to get my item, it was thrown haphazardly into a plastic bag...not hung on a hanger or anything, so when I got home, I had to steam an item that was brand new...to get all the wrinkles out (that was not wrinkled when I dropped it off). Rejoicing to have finally found a reliable, affordable, friendly tailor in Seattle! I've brought 3 shirts of different materials in for hemming and all have turned out excellent. I have also brought a sweatshirt in and she was able to take the waist and sleeves up AND move the pocket to effectively downsize the whole thing for a perfect fit. Turn around usually 1 week. I've been going here for 18 months now (~8 alterations in total), and have been extremely satisfied. I've gotten hems, darts and fixes/patches done. All have lasted without issue. One darting was missed once, but when mentioned she promptly completed the work without question. My boyfriend and I stopped by to have the jacket of a suit taken in and the sleeves of his dress shirt shortened for my sister's wedding. While pinning the jacket, the seamstress convinced him to have the pants taken in too, even though he had told her it wasn't necessary. She quoted $75 for all of this (more than it cost to extensively alter my bridesmaid dress at a different tailor's shop) and forced us (well, me; I was paying since it was my sister's wedding) to pay in full up front. I've been to many of this city's tailors and never encountered having to pay up front! Turns out the reason she does this is because she knows she is going to do a bad job and doesn't want to have to haggle at the end. My boyfriend returned without me to pick up the suit. He tried everything on, but the suit jacket was still too large. When he asked her to take it in more, she refused, claiming there was no way to do so. My boyfriend isn't one for confrontation, and she's lucky I wasn't there, because I would have asked her why she charged so much to do half the job. Or more to the point, why she didn't inform us while we were there on the first visit that she would not be able to make the jacket fit him properly. I am extremely upset by her lack of professionalism and customer service. At the very least, upon realizing her mistake (if it was one), she should have offered to refund some of the money. I will absolutely not being going back and unfortunately cannot recommend this tailor to anyone else. Oh, and the $75 she quoted us was originally $80. When I balked at the price, she dropped the price of the shirt sleeves by $5. I suppose if you hesitate before agreeing to the price, there's plenty of space to haggle. Don't accept the first price she quotes you! And if you can, insist on paying when you pick up, so you can further negotiate if she does a botched job. read more

Cho tailor is the best tailor I have ever dealt with, and I have dealt with a lot of tailor in my day I make custom clothes for some of the biggest hip hop artists in the industry. They make all my clothes from scratch and do an impeccable job at it. All my artists are more then happy and I cannot seem to keep up with their demand. Although, Cho's can! Original 2-star review: The proprietor is very nice, but we had a miscommunication. I needed cuffs on two new (and expensive) suit trousers. Unfortunately, she performed a simple hem and the mistake cannot be reversed. Not only only am I out of $22 for the alteration, I now have two trousers that are less than ideal for wearing (my tall and slim build require cuffs on trousers so that they hang properly). She charges $18 to alter cuffs on my trousers (I ordered a total of five suites), but I will take my business elsewhere. If you take your tailoring to this business, definitely get a CLEAR UNDERSTANDING as to the alterations that will be performed. UPDATE to 3-star review: Took two trousers for cuffs. Awful service, disrespectful owner, and to put it simply, NEVER GO HERE. Took a dress to get hemmed to have two layers match, however they ruined my dress. When I returned to show then the uneven dress and ask politely for my money back the owner was confrontational. She yelled at me and told me it was my fault and that with her "40 years experience" she's never had an issue. She continued to scream at me in front of other customers, and then walked to the back of the store to give me the silent treatment. she offered to repair it- for a fee, and ignored me when I said it would make the dress too short. I brought the dress in and she marked it correctly but when faced with her mistake, told me I should have tried it on in front of her. however a few months back I brought in a dress and tried it not and had it marked, she made it uneven and too short. I gave chos a second chance because it's closest to my apt but I will never return. Fancy Cleaners down the street has better prices and exceptional service. read more

Terrible service and shoddy work. The item wasn't done when promised. I was told I would get a phone call when they were done. 6 weeks later. No call. Finally was able to stop by and the seam was puckered. The woman at the desk got mad at me for questioning their work saying it was hard and to stop talking they would fix it. This is not the way to talk to customers. She would not let me take my item and kept telling me to stop talking it was hurting her head. Do not go here. read more

I had a dress that was about 5 inches too long. The add says $6.99 for a simple hem. I'm unsure what is more simple than a straight line but maybe they mean men's pants. Either way I was charges $17 before tax. The transaction was pleasant the woman that works there is great and it is a nice place. When I went to go pick up the dress I couldn't because the employee didn't know how to work the card machine and I didn't have cash so I had to come back 30 minutes later. That was a tad frustrating. Not a fan. Unexceptional workmanship, no major complaints. But when I visit a tailor with clothing (menswear) I need altered, I expect them to have some idea as to how it ought to fit and to look. I expect to be told up front what will need to be done to achieve that result, and similarly, how much it will cost. And given the steep prices here, I expect it to be delivered when they say it will be delivered. Those expectations weren't met. I should have just done what I thought about doing in the first place, and taken it to Nordstrom downtown. I might have paid a little more, but now I'll be taking it there anyway, and paying to have the same items worked twice. Unprofessional. Avoid. read more

Cho's is a few blocks from my apartment in belltown and has been the tailor I use most often since I moved down here from the Edmonds area about a year ago. Every time I go here is hit or miss. I have had some items done very well and to my liking. However, there are a couple items I've brought in that the tailor just refused to do, saying it was "too much work." Now, I understand that some garments can be particularly tricky to tailor. I am a very small woman and have had to have most of my clothing items tailored for a good part of my life, so I'm pretty familiar with what it takes to tailor particular items. However, it seems a bit ridiculous, or perhaps just lazy, to refuse to tailor something when you are a tailor by saying it's "too much work," especially when I say the price does not matter to me. If am willing to pay extra and I don't need an item for a month or more, I don't see why as a professional tailor you would refuse to do that. It's just not very good customer service. On other instances I've had the tailor tell me that something "can't be taken in" anymore than she had pinned it, even though I know it can be. The work that has been completed has,for the most part, been good, but I feel for the level of service I've received the price is a bit too high. One good thing I can say is that the item is always done on time. Oh, and they take credit so that's a plus. I would recommend this place if: 1. You live nearby, 2. You need something simple done (don't come here for anything even a bit complicated), and/or 3. You need to pay by card. For any complicated garment alterations I would recommend finding a different tailor. read more

I paid to have sleeves shortened and an additional button and button hole for my coat (provided button as well). Once received I showed her that she had forgotten to add the button and she claimed that was not on the ticket and that I was trying to take advantage of her. I took the ticket to a friend of mine who translated it and there it was "add a button/button hole". Do you think she honored that ticket? Nope. Never again! read more

I wasn't impressed. My hiking pants have a snap closure on them and the closure ripped. I dropped off my pants for what I thought was a simple repair. When I got my pants back, it was $2 higher than what I was quoted plus instead of a new snap closure a new button hole was cut and a different style button rather than a snap closure was put on. read more
