We move every few years and tend to use the same local moving company every time. Because our usual company charges for travel to the source and from the destination we thought it would be more cost effective to use Seattle Small Moves because they don't apply these fees. It turns out that they couldn't handle a 850 sq foot townhome move. They were extremely slow moving us and ended up leaving a significant amount of our stuff at our old home. Their truck wasn't tall enough for the items we told them about in our quote. I pointed out several expensive items we cared about and they seemed to ignore my concerns. Our expensive grill, washer and dryer, and Dutch ovens are damaged. They packed a bottle of olive oil with a spigot on its side and it spilled everywhere! The way they packed doesn't make any sense and is causing us to spend way more time sorting through what they did. They left our doors off hinges and left us in a bad state in our new place. In our last move, our usual company moved everything flawlessly and very quickly. They had to deal with a 4 story townhome with narrow halls and doors but they handled it with same crew size for half the price! The workers were friendly, but the overall operation was very disorganized and unprofessional. This crew also didn't seem to have their own water jug... I would not recommend this moving company. Evan is awesome! I've booked with Seattle small moves for my past two moves and both times the service has been outstanding. Evan and Fred moved me into my current place - they were punctual, efficient, super careful with my stuff, thoughtful about where and how they stacked it, and really nice! They are great at navigating weirdo parking situations and city apartment shenanigans - elevators, stairs, whatever. Watching them flip my couch around multiple times to take it out of the door of my old place the best way was watching the pros in action. I believe that their office/wherever the truck comes from is inside of Seattle too, so they charge you less for travel times than other quotes I got. The owner Ken reached out after my yelp review and seemed really eager to help replace the table. Here is his last email to me. **Yes I can compensate you for the patio table. The move went different than described in the terms: - None of the movers wore face coverings, and only 1 of the 2 wore gloves. - The truck was not like the pictures on Yelp. It was unmarked, seemed dirty, and had other furniture items in there prior to our move. - They taped around a buffet to prevent doors opening during transit, but upon removing the tape also peeled off the outer layer of the furniture. - Loading was mediocre; thankfully nothing damaged upon arrival. I hate moving. I'm 65 and just not up to hauling furniture or calling on college friends to help. I boxed everything up, including a room full of books. I moved light and miscellaneous stuff, but needed help with the heavy lifting. I've been dreading this one for months, but determined to make the move to eliminate the commute. I'm now a 15 minute walk to my office. Hallelujah! The Seattle Small Moves crew and operation was great, start to finish. Setting up and obtaining their bid via the web and email was easy. Moving day the crew called in advance and arrived on time. They picked up my instructions on the walk through without repetition or error. Second hottest day of the year but they plowed through under budgeted time. Very flexible whenever a minor shift had to be made, including getting the computer desk out without full disassembly. One box of old LP's fell apart and they didn't miss a beat. No damage to walls or floors at either end. Highly recommend them. Don't forget to tip your movers! read more

I was somewhat satisfied with my move with Seattle Small Moves. We did a very short-distance move but we wanted everything hands off so we asked for the full packing service as well. The packing itself was excellent. Nothing was broken. Now the bad. The guys were very kind, but they were a bit careless when it came to bumping into walls. They left a lot of marks, and our couch has some new marks on it that were never there before. They also didn't assemble our bed correctly and didn't even remember to add the support beam. My advice to management is to make sure your guys are more careful when handling things. Minor bumps add up. The door at our new place is scuffed. While they were speedy, I'd rather they be a bit more careful and take a bit of extra time. I initially gave them 3 stars, but given how reasonable their rates are, I upgraded to 4. We have used them twice now. I'd use them again. Pleasant, hard working guys with great attitudes. Really makes moving, an otherwise difficult experience a lot better. I must say that the first time we used them, we had the absolute best moving experience we have ever had. They helped us move on a Sunday. Worked for the company in 2017 as a lead we did very good job worked dont know what last guy was talking about but from hands on experience everyone professional people answer phone movers show up on time and often wondering how company makes money due to such low prices and ive worked a few moving companies in seattle alot arent at all. Nothing gets broke like ever and they do hire real professional movers only. On another note the owner was kinda reasonable in the end employment wise so we parted ways. I called SSM for a very last minute move and they were so kind and helpful every step of the way. They sent 3 very helpful movers to help us load our rental truck on a very tight time frame. I paid for additonal insurance in the event they damaged stuff, which they did and now they refuse to respond to my request on a claim The move team showed up 2 hours late with a 26 ft truck and a 16 ft. truck, not the two 26 foot trucks stated in the move contract. "That price includes 4 professional movers, two 26 foot moving trucks, furniture blankets, dollies, straps, shrink wrap, tools for disassembly and reassembly." We ended up paying an additional $209 in move fees to hire a company to come pick up the items the moving team left behind since their trucks were full. 65" TV, broken Walls scratched, wood floors scratched. Multiple Items broken including a crib, large outdoor pot, and wall hangings. I thought maybe COVID related, so i was really patient. Multiple emails sent and no response so I filed a claim with my credit card company, which they miraculously responded to (go figure). Sent another follow-up email to discuss and nothing. read more

To request for the moving services, you just need to fill out some information on their website and you will receive the confirmation email and text. The process is easy and you pay on the moving day. They accept both cash and credit card. On the moving day, Evan, Renee and Ryan are on time, friendly, professional and very efficient. We finished moving all the stuff (2 bedroom townhouse) in 2 hours. I am glad that the move is over. Now, it's time to unpack the stuff. These guys are awesome! We used Seattle Small Moves to move our bigger furniture -- bed, dressers, couches, etc. about 10 miles. Fortunately, we were able to get all of our items into the truck and only had to do one trip. Staff was super friendly, professional, quick and very careful with our furniture. We actually found out about Small Moves through a Groupon deal, but even without the Groupon, prices seemed pretty reasonable. The move took us about 3 hours, and if my memory is correct, I believe it was something like $60 per half hour. Not bad! All in all, we were very happy with the service, and will be back the next time we're needing to move. read more

Extremely disappointed. I booked them for a 9am move on a Friday morning. Time was confirmed by them. I got a call at 8:59 on move day telling me their truck was broken and in the shop. Estimated time they would be available? 1-2pm. I was promised a call back with an update, which never came. I called at 130pm and was told it would probably be another hour. 2 hours after that, they still had not showed. I booked my move time specifically when I knew both my old place and my new place would not be busy and it would be easy to back the truck up and load/unload. I also picked a time when I knew there would not be traffic, which is not the case on Friday night. They are currently SIX AND A HALF hours late, and still not answering the phone and have not arrive. Repeated phone calls and requests to speak to the supervisor have gone ignored. I understand that things happen, but how they have handles this issue is the worst customer service I have experienced. They aren't cheap movers and I expected much more for this price. Unprofessional. UPDATE: the owner says below that their truck was broken, however the movers themselves told me on the phone Friday that they were with the truck that was working just fine but they didn't have additional people to help move my items. Same thing was told to me in person when they showed up the next day finally. So someone lied to me. Also, I was made to pay upfront and they only refunded my money days later once they learned I had given a poor review. Would NOT recommend. read more

Do NOT use this company. I have filed an official complaint with BBB, please check their updated rating which is an F. He shows the BBB logo on his website, and he is not accredited. He continues to show the logo on his website. I used this moving service for a move from Seattle to Washington D.C in August. Things started to go downhill when, despite having a guaranteed delivery date, my things arrived 4 days late. When the truck arrived, the men who were contracted by Mr. Marley came to my door and apologized for the condition of my belongings. They were not the ones who loaded my things in Seattle, just contracted to unload in D.C. The movers were kind enough to take dozens of photos showing how poorly our items were handled during transport. I ended up having damages that total more than $6,000. Mr. Marley was not able to be reached for almost 2 weeks after the delivery of our broken items. When he did respond, he simply stated "sorry for the damages, but given that your stuff was delivered almost 2 weeks ago I need payment today." I wrote him an e-mail response back, sharing my frustrations and asking him to forward on proof that an insurance claim had been filed to replace our items prior to me submitting my final payment. He quickly escalated and said he would send my final balance to collections if I did not pay in within 24 hours. I sent the final balance and requested a follow up plan on how the damaged items would be resolved. The major item damaged was our tempurpedic mattress. We told him in writing, and verbally, multiple times that it needed to be stored flat in accordance with the warranty. Photos showed that the mattress was stored upright for the entirety of the transport. This voided the warranty, and because tempurpedic uses gel in the mattress and gravity causes the gel to shift and settle when transported improperly. When asked about dealing with the damaged mattress Mr. Marley said he would not replace it unless it was taken to a warehouse and "diagnosed" damaged by tempurpedic. Mind you, this process does not exist. He then told me I should file a warranty claim through tempurpedic and keep it "hush hush" about how the damage occurred. Unbelievable!!!! It has been 6 months, and to date Mr. Marley has not reimbursed ANY of the damaged caused by his moving company. He has stopped responding to e-mails as well. So, I will be taking him to court, as he is committing fraud and breaching our contract by stating in the contract that the items are fully insured. Please save yourself the hell i'm having to go through and do NOT use this moving service. read more

I would rate Seattle small moves between a 4 and a 5. They were 90 minutes later than our scheduled move time; however, once they showed up the experience was fantastic. The movers were friendly, professional, efficient, and really went above and beyond to get my bed frame up two flights of very narrow stairs. In the end, it had to be taken apart and completely put back together again, which they executed very well despite what I'm sure was a frustrating set back. All in all, I would chalk up the late-ness to a fluke scheduling mistake on their side and would use their services again in the future. read more

Once again, their quote was competitive and made me feel like they cared about my move more than any of the other companies I reached out to. On moving day, the team's foreman, Evan, called to let me know when they were on their way and they arrived within the window given with the quote. My boyfriend and I were moving into a house in Ravenna from two separate apartments, one in Issaquah and one in Green Lake, and even with the travel time and loading up at two separate locations, Evan, Ryan, and TJ had us into our new place in four hours.
