Been coming to this place for years. Bringing my daughter since she was 3 she's 10 now. Service is always good except one lady. She literally is so rude to us. Today she dropped our food off and never came back over. No refill didn't ask if everything was ok. I always tip so good. Its disheartening to get service like this.She went to us ONE time today. We had to call another server over to get the check. The steak was good, the food is good. It's bad when my child is asking "how come she doesn't like us?" Everything else is a 5 stars. The food was brought out pretty quick and our wonderful waitress made sure to let me know "we don't play here!". The service is fast and the food is very tasty. I ordered the hungry man special (I'm eating for 2) and It was priced nicely, cooked nicely, and overall I'm just a very happy pregnant woman. I strongly recommend this place. The crowd was pretty family friendly and it seemed like a lot of regulars come here, as some waitresses addressed people by name! I loved this place! In fairness, let me just say that I wanted to love it from the moment we drove by the first time. It's in a funky little industrial area and it stands out because of the seaplane in the roof. It feels like being in the old times, the whole place is just dripping with nostalgia. As we often do when visiting an area, we came to this cool diner for breakfast. It was a rainy day and the ambiance was cozy and welcoming. The waitress was friendly and attentive and we had our meals quickly and nice and hot. We both enjoyed our eggs a great deal... I had eggs benedict with avocado and Hubby had an omelette and we both remarked how good the food was. We took our time and enjoyed more coffee before heading on our way. If I lived in Providence this is a place I'd want to go to often, and am jealous it isn't my own hometown hangout! read more

We've eaten here twice, and the second visit wasn't as good as the first - but was still a solid 3.5 star breakfast. The food is typical diner fare, with large servings of eggs, omelets, pancakes, etc. The coffee is decent, though served in those teeny tiny cups that diners use. Prices are reasonable (our first visit, four of us left stuffed for less than $50). Interesting offerings on the daily specials board, but I'm not sure I'd come here for eggs benedict or bagels! There is a model sea plane on the roof, lending the place its name. Very funny face "flying" the plane! I won't give that away. The diner is set up exactly like the front room of the West Side Diner, with a few steps up to the door in the middle of the structure, a counter by the main cooking/coffee making area, 4-top booths to the left and right with a larger semi-circular booth at the far right. Unlike the West Side Diner, this structure looks a bit tired (but not as tired as Pawtucket's Modern Diner). Clientele was a bit less east side and hipster than either of those places too. The old-school table top juke boxes are fun - just wish they worked, because they cut down on some of the usable table space if you have 4 in a booth. Our first visit, the service was top notch. The second time around, it was just OK. My toast came dry (I didn't request that, but the waitress may have assumed it since I subbed fruit for the potatoes); it took 2 tries to get my butter, and coffee refills were a bit slower this visit too. Still, now that I work in the jewelry district, this may become a go to spot when I'm having a before work omelet/hash brown/toast craving. Ok so this is a cool little diner. You get a bang for your buck! I'm not kidding- I probably got the most filling breakfast of my entire life for less than $10, maybe $12 if you include the fact that I got a soda. The hungry man's breakfast, like everyone else has mentioned, is what I got, and would 200% recommend. I also got a western omelet the following time I was there and was equally satisfied. This place has been around for years and years and the staff who work there are excellent. Stacy, my waitress, was wonderful and funny! She was great. I'm sure this place gets busy on the weekends but during the week, there was no problem with seating, and I sat at the bar. Came here today for the first time with my son and his girlfriend, it was very busy but we only waited a few minutes before they had a table for us. I love this place! It's charming and very clean, has a friendly staff and everything we got was excellent! I had an omelet and it was delicious and the home fries were amazing, my son had the linguisa and eggs and loved it and his girlfriend had a turkey club and she said it was great. Lots of good reviews for Seaplane Diner (others as well to be fair) but the plane on top of the building was a good lure. And to be honest, the review by the person that took her elderly 90-something year old aunt there a month ago sealed the deal. Well coming in the door today Saturday for the first time it was hustle bustle and ONE table left! Ya!!! It was a larger table for 6 but they said that ok go ahead and sit! Wow the prices look great. We are tired of high prices here in Providence. ( we from out of town). I ordered the Linguica sausage n eggs. Wow three eggs on most items too. I also wanted to try the cranberry walnut pancakes. So I asked if I could get just one and she said no prob! I like that wow!! Ok everything came and we think we over ordered lol! Eyes bigger than stomach deal. The portions are so big and the prices sooo right on! My pancake was awesome. Such good flavor ate it all. Ate my three eggs some potatoes but only one strip of sausage. It was more like kielbasa than what I was thinking (Italian). I gave the rest to the boy to eat! Haha. Bf had the BLT and Seaplane special. Well I had to taste a few bites.. yummy! Really a nice local diner that caters to the local businesses in this industrial neighborhood. While on a business trip to a nearby company, we came here for a couple breakfasts and a few lunches. Very economical, fast friendly service and decent food. It can get crowded during lunchtime but they do a quick turnover so waits aren't too long. Worth checking out if your in the area. read more

After driving past this place many times on my way to work at the hospital, I always wanted to check this place out. Boy am I glad that I did! I had the Seaplane special that includes eggs, toast, home fries, and corned beef hash. I ordered the home fries well done, but they were a little soft in some spots. Otherwise, there was nothing to complain about at all. The hash was very good, even though it's no longer homemade according to my waitress. Service was quick and efficient, and the coffee was good and strong. It seemed popular with the locals, including some uniformed Providence Police officers and utility company workers. I spent more than I would have at Dunkin or McDonald's, but it was well worth it. If I'm in the area again at lunchtime, I would certainly give their lunch menu a shot. read more

Guilty pleasure ftw. I love this place. A hop and a skip away from my parents' place and my beloved Honeydew iced coffee, Seaplane is probably my favourite diner, period. I have never received poor service nor have I been served poor food. Granted I've never stopped by for lunch, but then again, why would I when I can eat enough for all three meals at breakfast? It's no exaggeration that their Hungryman Special rocks my world. While I'm notoriously picky about how my eggs are scrambled and cooked, they totally make it right every time without the need to send 'em back. Absolutely heavenly pancakes and perfect home fries. Ihop has nothin' on these dudes quality and price wise. Added bonus? Sure the food doesn't qualify as 'healthy,' but unlike other places I've eaten breakfast at, nothing is actually drenched or sopping in grease. The interior doesn't reek like stale oil and everything is totally clean and well kept. Did I mention the service is great? Well, it is. I haven't been by in a while now and this is something that needs rectifyin' stat. In all seriousness though, you couldn't find a better value for your breakfast lovin' buck even if you tried swimming across the port of Prov. Great place to grab a break-fast. Its a classic diner place on Allens Ave right off the I-95S. While the street is not so famous for good things but this place is worth a try. We were greeted by a wonderful waitress and were treated with great customer service throughout. We ordered the coffee to begin with. While the coffee wasn't the greatest, we went with the French toast and the hungry man's special from their break-fast menu. The French toast came with powdered sugar and salted butter, the hungry man's special definitely took us by surprise (lot of food for the price). It's served with toast of your preference, sausage, 3 eggs and pancakes. They were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend the both while a warning on the later-order only if you are starving. Although the coffee was re-fillable, it was hard to get through the first cup but the food and customer service made up for that. So 3 stars does not seem like enough, but yet there was nothing that really jumped out that made this place more special. HUGE diner fan to begin with (the establishment, not the patrons). Although not in the most scenic of areas, the Seaplane is the real thing. Nostalgic design that has been retained, maintained, and not "updated". I loved it as soon as I saw it, in fact as it was a weekday lunch and looked busy as I drove by, I pulled a U-turn on busy Eddy St. anyway to get back there. It was there many years back when I attended J&W Culinary and didn't think it still existed. I'm glad it does. I was by myself, so seating was easy at the counter. Immediately a friendly waitress was there to wipe down the already clean spot I was seated at. I placed my order of the Southern Burger (fried onion & bacon), got my beverage immediately and was able to watch my meal being assembled. I don't know how these guys can cook in such tight quarters, but I was impressed. The meals going out began to give me diner's remorse; I started wondering if I should have ordered something other than a burger! It all looked awesome. When I got my meal, I was delighted that I HAD gotten a burger. The fries were fab, not at all greasy, at the waitress gave no attitude when I asked for a side of mayo for them. The burger was cooked perfect, not greasy, with melty cheese, ripe red tomato slices, crisp green lettuce and an above par roll. For under $10, I got a great diner experience with real diner fare and exceptional service even though it was pretty busy. As far as cleanliness goes, it looked to me to be fairly decent for the lunchtime rush, especially for 2 girls on with lottery, full diner, etc. Now I just gotta get here for breakfast some time! read more

We ordered two of the hungry man breakfasts eggs homefries a couple of significant blueberry pancakes and sausage. i mean solid diner fare and the price is right at the Seaplane. I've been here a few times. Every time was a different experience since every time was with different people (mostly.) If you are a white gloved tight ass, don't bother. The place is like most old school diners that are greasy grimy and busy. It's located on the waterfront but you won't see the water. It's not pretty but it is a classic. The breakfast food (because that is all I'v ever eaten there,) is good diner fare. Hash-browns, toast, pancakes, eggs, all the basics. If you are there after a night of drunken revelry they don't take offense. It's on the street with the stripper bars. The waitresses are efficient, ask them for sweetener, more coffee or whatever you lack. They're friendly and they are like the old yankees, they leave you alone unless you talk to them.
