the best peruvian restaurant in peru
Farah F.

It's a small little restaurant within 8-10 minutes walking distance from the Utah Valley Convention Center. Our group of 6 people went there for lunch. I ordered the Limo Mixto with steak & shrimp. It was tasty but i wish it had little bit more sauce...felt kinda dry. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the service was super slow! I mean the lady was friendly and nice, but it took them almost 1 hour from taking our orders till the foods came out. And even after sitting at the table that long, she never brought the utensils and napkins to our table. But even so, I'm looking forward taking my family there soon. ^_^

I loved everything about Se Llama Peru! The food is incredibly delicious. Both dishes were warm, flavorful, and prepared well. Chaufa is like Peru's version of friend rice and Saltado is steak served over fries. What's not to love?! It was the perfect lunch on a cold day. The service was great, too. We were seated immediately, got our food relatively quickly, and the waiter checked on us multiple times. No complaints there! I'll admit, the ambiance isn't the most exciting part of Se Llama Peru. A little more rustic and charming--perfect hole-in-the-wall vibes. You might be tempted to walk past their door and into a more modern restaurant, but you'd be missing out. The food was so good I was sad we didn't have any leftovers.

Lomo Saltado! Steak, Fried potatoes, onion and tomatoes all stir fry and over stem rice! Really, really good!

Delicious Peruvian Food!!! Lomo Saltado y Ceviche are really good! We loved! And It worth the wait.

Fun little Peruvian place on Center Street! My friend loves Peruvian food and she said it's pretty authentic here. I ordered the Lomo Saltado de Pollo, and I would recommend it. I will say, my first few bites took some getting used to... It was a new flavor for me, but then I couldn't stop eating it after I convinced myself that I was full and needed to stop! The regular Lomo Saltado with steak was also good. This isn't the kind of place that I'll want to come back to all the time, but it's definitely worth giving a try!

Food was delicious! Definitely the most flavorful Peruvian restaurant I've had. I got the Lomo Saltado and my husband got the arroz chaufa and both dishes were excellent. The only reason I am leaving 4 stars is because service was slow. It took a while for the waitress to take our order and another long while before the food came to the table. Not sure if they were short staffed that day or what, but I can get over that for how good the food was.

I had great expectations of this cute restaurant but nothing was remarkeable and some appetizers were really bad. We left the yuca app and a baked potato filled with meat and veggies because first they looked like frozen and put in hot oil too fast; second, the oil tasted like fish. Really bad. My roasted chicken was ok but the fried were cold and the salad in the combo was old. My boyfriend got some perfectly forgettable dish. Service was just ok. Pick the order, serve and go. No asking if we need anything (what about some salsas or some more drinks?). Nothing. And we were the only customers. The server and the girl at the register kept talking all the time among themselves.

Me encanta este restaurante! This place is so good. I lived in South America for two years and can confirm that this is an authentic Peruvian experience. If you're trying it for the first time, I would recommend the lomo saltado! It is amazing! You can't go wrong

Tough flavorless steak

Extremely slow & poor service. Waitress was too busy flirting with a guest to greet us/get an order. Heard the microwave door open/close and timer go off constantly in the kitchen. The steak in my dish was tough/over cooked and looked unappetizing. Food was rather bland for Peruvian food. The waitress or kitchen staff wasn't wearing masks. No signs or notices about how they're operating during COVID. No mask requirements or 6ft distance enforced. Definitely would skip this place if you could.

Slightly divey but fun atmosphere

Service is slow but ceviche is top notch. The server recommended we share it, but we wish we had gotten our own

Tasty traditional Peruvian food. We travel to Peru often due to family, and this competes with moms cooking ;)

The rotisserie chicken was so juicy and had so much flavor. I loved dipped it in the green sauce. I also enjoyed the Peruvian friend rice and all of the flavor that came with it. The fries were also homemade, crispy, and not super oily at all. The beef was seasoned great and had a lot of good flavor. Everything was super flavorful and tasty. It looks like they are expanding so I hope they make it a nicer interior! Overall, I will be back and I definitely recommend!

I went to the Provo location tonight, never been there before. Pros, it was fast. Less than 10 min for our food. Cons, the food was sooooooo disappointing. Worst Lomo saltado I've ever had. Tough beef almost unchewable, weird undercooked rice and no juice or sauce. Usually that yummy flavorful sauce is all over but nope. The chick was okay, still flavorful. The sides were disgusting. My kids wouldn't eat the plantains for the yucca even though they've loved them in the past, and to be honest I didn't want to eat it either. Beware of this restaurant, extremely dishonest management…read more The management at this location deserves zero stars. If you are using a coupon, be prepared to be misled and treated poorly. We used a Starving Student coupon before at the Provo location without any issues. This time, we used the same coupon at the Orem location. The deal clearly states Buy 1 entrée, get 1 free (saving $17.99), as shown in the screenshots. We ordered two half-chicken entrées. The cashier scanned the coupon, charged us, and told us the wait time would be about 20 minutes. At no point were we told there were any restrictions. After waiting 20 minutes, the cashier brought out the food and then informed us that "the boss's mom said" that because we used a coupon, we were only allowed ¼ chicken, not half. This was never disclosed when we ordered, and directly contradicts both the coupon and our previous experience at the Provo location. We were told this was a "new rule." This is misleading, dishonest, and false advertising. I asked to speak directly with the boss's mom, but she refused to come out and instead hid in the kitchen, sending the employee to act as a mediator. We were then told she "doesn't speak English." Ironically, my husband speaks Spanish and suddenly she was "too busy" to speak to us at all. This is an unacceptable way to treat customers. The cashier at the front was the only helpful and professional person there. She even disagreed with the situation, but could not approve a refund without a manager. She had to call twice before we finally received our refund. Bottom line: If you don't want to honor a deal, don't offer it. This is false advertising and completely unethical. Hiding in the kitchen instead of addressing customers is unprofessional and embarrassing for a business. This restaurant should either honor the Starving Student deal as advertised or remove it entirely. I'm posting this so others don't go through the same experience. I will not support a business that operates like this. This review will also be sent directly to the restaurant's management team and to Starving Student's management.
