I wrote to them and called them and they told me that they would make the return and after 15 days I went to the store and they did not take responsibility for making the return or exchange. Their menu and pictures of food on their tv screen make all their food look amazing. And everything I ate tasted was amazing as it looked. Currently my favorite Latin style food in Utah. Mid service, mid food, and over priced. I got the shredded chicken arepa and the chicken was cooked and so salty. Tasted like they put too much yellow sauce. The masa of the arepa was nice and thick so that was great. Only things I would get here going forward are the empanadas. read more

So as you walk in it is a different atmosphere here. You are greeted very friendly hostesses. You head to the counter to order from the menus. Menus could be better but it works. You can hear the cooks back in the back just talking and being loud. You get the authentic feel here. There might be language barrier when ordering for sure. The place seems to be a little spendy for sure. My kids ordered the burgers and I'm not sure this what they are expecting like a Mx Donald's burger. I ordered the hot dog and some empanadas. I know the Mexican empanadas are amazing never had Venezuela food. So here we go, some times you have to leave comfort food and try something new. The soft drinks machine wasn't working this day so very limited on drinks today. Food was going ok till the big hair in our food!!! That's what shit it down. Yes they made a new burger to go. But a refund should've been given. I know they don't want to loose profit. But 70.00 dollars down the drain. Everyone was grossed out. Will I come back probably not. The staff here are very friendly! We got to try their empanadas (one with beef, one with potato). They were pretty basic. They were also piping hot when we got them, so take caution! My wife really liked the potato one, which I thought was a little plain. It's basically a fried batter with a filling that tastes like french fries, but had more of the consistency of cheesey mashed potatoes. The beef one was decent... Hard to describe it... But the fried batter just gave it that amazing fried, "comfort food" feel. They have a great variety of foods to try with their own flare to it (hamburgers, hot dogs, pastelitos, sandwiches, etc.). My husband lived in Venezuela for a time so our whole family has become big fans of good Venezuelan food. Three days ago, he pulled into our garage with a huge smile on his face. There is a new Venezuelan place over by the Lehi Maceys! Two days later we tried it. We had the arepas pabellón, empanadas (chicken, ground beef, and pabellón), and tequeños. The arepas pabellón were filled with large portions of seasoned carne mechada (tender, shredded beef), black beans, plantains and salty cheese. The empanadas were made with the same dough as the arepas and fried with their filling inside. The tequeños were a slightly sweet, crisp and flaky pastry full of cheese. All had ample sides of really-fantastic guasacaca (an avocado-type salsa). We finished it off with some Frescolita (reminds me of red cream soda). It was prepared fresh and we enjoyed everything we ate. Our son's favorite empanada was the chicken (pollo). The portions were large and we were full and happy by the time we were done eating. The carne mechada was a bit on the salty side (especially when paired with the salty cheese). Otherwise, everything was fantastic! The owners were friendly and generous. The shop had a warm and inviting vibe. They advertise live music and karaoke nights. The food has a few regional dishes from around Maracaibo, so we are eager to go back and try some of them as well. read more

Comically the worst service I've ever gotten. This was a few years back but I've never forgotten, that's how bad it was. The "server" at the register had really snooty and rude mannerisms. He would arch his butt out really far backward and his head up. He was really rude for no reason. Acting like I wasn't welcome. I ended up paying $20 dollars for 3 gyro type taco pocket things, which weren't very big, and a canned coke. The soda fountain was broke, so I had to pay for an over priced can of soda. I think it was like 3 bucks for a regular can. The menu says that they will bring you the special green sauce. Of course, he didn't. After he dropped my tray of food, like actually dropped it. Then spun and stuck his ass in the air. I noticed the sauce bottle on another table and just grabbed it. Food was good, but not $20 good. Bathroom was clean and the mural was pretty. Wow I was super impressed with this arepa! I was not expecting one of the best arepas I've ever had to be located in Utah. We got the pabellon arepa and all of the toppings along with the meat were delicious. The arepa was light and crispy and the green sauce they served it with was amazing! When I walked in there was a man, woman, three teenage girls and a baby sitting at a table. The one teenager took my order. It took a long time to get the food. The man was on the phone the whole time. The teenage girls were playing with the baby. They put the baby on the counter and touched my food to go, also they touched all the to go utensils. If you lived in Venezuela for any amount of time or were born there, this place not only nails the taste of the food but embodies just how nice Venezuelans are. In almost every Venezuelan restaurant I've been to I usually get the Pabellón. Which I have done here, but they smiled their way into my heart to really explore the menu. I was driving by Lehi in a very cold April and I was craving the tastes of my childhood, a quick search gave me Zaperoco as the first choice. The name made me giggle (zaperoco is a funny way to say messy mixture). I was welcomed by very friendly staff and I teared up with the murals on the walls and the tables. The empanadas hit the spot and I left with a full, stomach, a happy heart, and a satisfied soul. The only suggestion I'd give the owners is to pick up the phone and identify the business in a friendly way ("Hello, this is Zaperoco, Venezuelan food, how may I help you?") instead of just "Hello". It was our first time trying the place and we were very excited, but we were very disappointed with the customer service we received. The food was good, but the place was not welcoming. I did not speak Spanish and it seemed like this irritated the cashier and did not really try to explain the menu and did not help me out with my questions. This little hole-in-the-wall is just that; a hole-in-the-wall. Despite the speedy service (7 minutes from order to pick-up) for freshly cooked, piping hot food, the flavors are something I could get at home or from the freezer section of the grocery store. The empanadas are cheap ($1.35 ea) but they're nothing to write home about. They have maybe two table spoons of filling. The shell is crispy, but that where it ends. The chicken and meat empanadas both lacked any tangible flavor. The shredded white chicken meat empanada had very little flavor in the sauce it was mixed in other than it didn't taste like chicken. Which was strange, because it seems like when there is unknown meat, everything tastes like chicken. The ground beef empanada tasted like fried ground hamburger would taste like, grease included. The tequenos were basically cheese sticks. The cheese was creamy and wasn't bad. But I would say Arby's cheese sticks are better and that's not saying much. I can accomplish something similar with something from the freezer section of WalMart and my air-fryer at home. So why two stars? The service was quick (although there was no one else in the place when I ordered) and the cheese sticks weren't horrible. I was disappointed with the empanadas, but maybe I was expecting Peruvian empanadas. Oh well, it was worth trying for myself. Maybe next time I should try something different? read more

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! It is very new and is fairly inexpensive, which is always important to me, and has tasty food. Which is also important. The restaurant decor itself is on the very casual side, but there are little tables and things if you're inclined to eat there, which I was. We tried the patacon with carne asada and the hot dog with French fries because if you're going to offer a hot dog with French fries, I'm going to eat it. The patacon is essentially a sandwich with fried sweet plantains instead of bread, which is pretty amazing. The carne asada was delicious and I loved it, even though I only got to steal a few bites from my dinner companion. My hot dog was okay. The toppings were super good, but the hot dog itself tasted kind of boiled, which is fine, but not really my favorite. The fries were tasty and made me super happy. I also got a Fress Colita(?) drink, which was delicious. Now, am I planning to go there again a day after to try more of their delicious-sounding food even though that is completely unreasonable? Why yes, yes I am. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood. Much better than the neighboring restaurants, which will remain nameless. read more
