We stopped in for a late lunch on a Wednesday. There was one other table besides our group. Service was good. They offer menus in Spanish and English. Fairly basic on the inside with dark wooden tables and not much light. That said it was cozy and we were very comfortable. The meals are very large. My wife ordered Picada Reina Lucero, which had several varieties of meat, white cheese, tartar sauce on top and two sides of other sauces, one a chunky green sauce and a smooth white sauce that mostly tasted like salty butter. The meat was piled on top of fried arepas. My BIL ordered a half chicken and an empanada with pork. The empanada was large and the pork filling was delicious. The chicken was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I ordered the De La Casa Arepones with shredded beef. Ham, cheese and sauce were served along with the delicious shredded beef. This is the only item we ordered that could be considered as a single serving, but even at that it was a lot of food. If I'm in the area I will not hesitate to stop in again and explore more of their menu. read more

They don't speak English here just a heads up. Found this place on a whim after a concert in Sandy, is open late til 11. It was pretty busy for a Sunday night. One word.... Cachapa!!!! They are huge, one could feed 3 people. I had the chriozo, but it was like hillshire smoked sausage. I would say get the chicken with smoked meats and fried pork. Venezuela Mia was AMAZING. We have been back 3 times now with different friends and it has not been a disappointment. The food comes out fresh and hot, service is excellent and staff is very nice. We got the Cachapa bites as an appetizer, La condesa - Half Cachapa with cheese, fried pork, chorizo, crumble cheese, and cream De La Casa Arepa - fried arepa with shredded beef, cheese, smoked ham, and traditional sauce. My experience here was definitely 5 stars. I was on the south side of the valley and have been wanting to incorporate more Venezuelan food in my life, so conditions were perfect. I stopped in, but ordered food to go. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and willing to deal with my limited grasp of Spanish. So the question on many of your minds is, "what is a cachapa?!" In a nutshell, it's a (somewhat sweet) corn pancake, folded and filled with meats and cheese. They are definitely fantastic and give an awesome combo of flavors you won't easily find elsewhere. A patacón is just a meat sandwich with plantains instead of bread. Huge and delicious. Each of these plates weighed almost 2 lbs. A few important things to note, a "half" cachapa is huge, definitely enough for one or two people. Two cachapas and an order of yucca fries will be enough for 3-4 people. The Interior of the restaurant is well designed and clean. A large mural and the lighting feels more dim and relaxed. You can order to go, but the design is based around table service. I will definitely be back. It's unique and delicious. The price may seem a little high, till you see the portions. I ordered way too much, and was stoked to see that the cachapa heated up reasonably the next day too. read more

Wanted to try a cachapa and this place did not disappoint! I got the cachapa catira (chicken), and it was massive. Definitely enough for two meals. I loved the corn pancake. Thick, soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet to complement the chicken and cheese filling. As for the shredded chicken, they really loaded it up! It was a tad bit dry, but that's almost always the case with shredded chicken, and the cheese helped to add some more moisture. I was expecting the cachapa to be quite greasy but it wasn't, so that was a nice surprise! And while I didn't try anything else from their menu, everything looked delicious. read more

I don't know Venezuelan food. My husband lived in Venezuela for 2 years and throughout our marriage, he has tried to show me what Venezuelan food is all about. But of all of the places we have tried, I have liked this one the best. I think that the first indicator of "good Venezuelan food" was the fact that it was all Venezuelans in the restaurant! And Venezuelans waiting to get in. And the second indicator, was that our server only spoke Spanish which definitely added a degree of difficulty. Luckily my husband was there to help translate. Just two good signs that we are in the right place for a food of another country. My husband said that the food was great and fairly authentic, but that the restaurant has definitely added some "western" elements to their dishes. My husband enjoyed his Venezuelan hot dog and I really enjoyed the cachapa and "fried cheese" appetizer. It was my first time having a cachapa and I loved the cheese and sweet corn flavor. We also ordered an arepa and it was the biggest arepa I've ever had. Definitely too cumbersome to really handle and enough to feed at least two people and not what I'm used to when ordering this dish, but still flavorful. This place popped up on my Yelp and I thought I should pay a visit to this place as I never had Venezuelan cuisine before & I was also curious. This hotspot is located in the Fort Union Square. Inside the store was very colorful, cute and incredibly cozy. The staff were SUPER friendly and helpful!! They took the time to explain me HOW to (they don't have any menu books or boards. They have this "interactive menu" QR code pasted on each table that will scan to get to the menu...brilliant!) and WHAT to order (as I had absolutely no idea what to try). Because we don't eat pork, they even helped me out by changing the ingredients a bit for one dish. I ended up ordering the Cachapa Bites as appetizers, 2 Arepa de la Casas from the Arepones section, & the Doña Barbara with beef and chicken from the Special Cachapas section for 6 people. But the amount of food they gave in the boxes could have easily fed 8 people! So what we discovered was that everything had a substantial amount of corn in them, so they were all a bit on the sweeter side. But the shredded beef and the lettuce in the Arepa de la Casas helped balance it out nicely and gave it a lot of flavor. The beef and chicken in the Doña Barbara were a bit dry for us, but the sauce helped a bit. And the cheese they used inside the Cachapas helped balance the sweetness from the corn and a nice tang (these cheesy Cachapas were even better with coffee!). This dish also came with a sweet lemon tea that helped cut some of the richness. Finally, we treated the Cachapa Bites as dessert instead. All in all, the foods were VERY rich, with lots of cheese and corn in them, and nice flavors. However, a few small things that bothered me a bit were...it didn't seem like that they were talking enough precautions or had rules in place for social distancing. And masks did not seem to be required inside the restaurant...I mean the staff weren't also wearing any! But then again, I went there during an odd time, only 3 other customers were there. We had the Cachapa Catira and Picada Reina Lucero Plate. The cachapa catira is a sweet corn pancake filled with shredded chicken and cheese. The Picada plate consists of yucca fires topped with smoked brisket cubes, fried pork cubes and sausage. Both are delicious and filling. We fed four people with these two entrees. We were greeted with a kind host/server. The food was delicious and portions were very generous - you'll have enough to take for a snack later as well. I recommend the following: * pabellón -- a homemade lemonade infused with raw brown sugar cane. Both delicious and refreshingly cool * doña bárbara -- a meal fit for two, it combines your choice of three meats (I got beef, pork and Venezuelan chorizo (more like Portuguese linguiça sausage versus Mexican chorizo)) and the celebrity offering of the place: cachapas. These are corn "pancakes" made of chunks of corn niblets and corn meal, filled with stringy white cheese and topped with cotija cheese. The corn adds an element of sweetness. Sauces include a fresh cream (a little salty, not sweet) and a green sauce with pepper in it, similar to chimichurri. * plátanos fritos -- fried plantains with cotija cheese on top. Originally I wasn't excited about the pairing but have quickly warmed to it. The sweetness of the plantains is not reduced by the cheese but rather accentuated via contrast. My husband is from Miami and he was so excited to have found this place! The food was authentic with every flavor of the sauce, cheese, cachapa and meats! We thought we ordered enough but we ended up bringing home the leftover. That was fine because we were happy to eat them all the next day. Staff was very nice and worked hard to overcome the language barrier. English language is tough for them here, so be patient. The menu is a QR code in the table. The website has no pictures or an explanation of what the item is. (Breaded taco, etc.) It's confusing what is supposed to happen when you walk in. There are no signs and the inside is small. It's like walking in and you get 3 feet in and people are eating at tables. We just sat down and someone came to help us. Music was at a pleasant volume. Tequenos were excellent. To die for. Probably will die eating fried cheese, but I don't care. Worth it. I got a chicken Chachpas and chepina chachpas. Both were delicious. Great flavor and humongous portions. I had to get 2 boxes to go. Can't wait to try more from their menu. The restaurant owner uploaded some fabulous photos, but did not add any tags to indicate what it was in the pictures. The online menu could be better if you could click a menu item and see a picture. It's a web based menu so it should be fairly easy to do. I often worship at the altar of Venezuelan food. One taste and you're hooked- if not, you're buds are to blame and may in fact be broken. I'm happy to have stumbled across Venezuela Mia! The pork arepa was delicious obviously with a pretty generous layer of cheese. The pork was super flavorful and moist (pet peeve: dry pork- crisis avoided) The arepa itself was a little hard, maybe it was just cooked a bit longer than usual. But it didn't keep me from enjoying every bite. The quesillo was ok I thought it could have been a little smoother and more flavorful. But it did have its own subtly sweet, holey thing going on that was a nice change. I'd definitely be curious to go back and trying their cachapas because everyone and their mom was eating one (cue the fomo) and I think that you can't go wrong with cachapas!! read more

Decided to try it for mother's day since my mother, grandmother and aunt are from Venezuela and we love finding new places in Utah that have Venezuelan food. Our experience quickly declined after arrival. The menu is a bit confusing in its wording and the ingredients they state they use they do not. For example : crumbled cheese on top of cachapa when it is just parmesan cheese. The first cachapa arrived and my mother was thoroughly disappointed. What they claim to be a cachapa is a sad attempt. It is mostly doughy and mushy with barely the taste of corn which is essential in a real cachapa. So unlike the multiple reviews that state it is the best cachapa in utah, i would say nope not even close! Anyone who has had authentic Venezuelan food in Venezuela knows this is far off from the real thing. We had 6 cachapas at our table and all of them came out barely warm which to us made it seem like it was pre-made and reheated to be served. The service was lacking. Most of the waiters were standing around starring at the customers or on their phones the whole time. The whole experience seemed disorganized to the point that they forgot my order, I waited, and soon changed my mind as I saw my family members response to it. At no point in the meal did they come check and ask if everything was good or if we needed anything. Lastly, when you go to pay they warn you on the receipt that there is a 4% charge if you use credit as a form of payment. Well my sister paid with a debit card and they charged her 2 dollars extra. She asked why this was the case if its debit, and they stated all cards run as credit. So there is always an upcharge on your total because they need to cover the fee that comes with allowing the use of cards as a form of payment. The items are expensive as it is to have another fee added to the totally. I would rather go to other Venezuelan restaurants in the area than come here and would reccomend you do the same. read more

I enjoyed this place! We got tequeños and chachapa bites for our appetizers and they were delicious. I want to come back and just get a whole ton of tequeños, they were so good. I can't remember what our main meal was called but it was a plate that came with 3 meats (sausage, fried pork, & beef I think) and chachapas. It was really good, I split it with another person. All the food here is pretty heavy so we didn't even eat half the plate which made for some great leftovers. I've never had Venezuelan food before this and I liked it a lot. Mi novio tuvo que bajar del carro y reclamarle por su error para que ella recien quiera darnos el reembolso de lo que habia cobrado por error. La comida estuvo buena, si me gustaria volver a comer ahi, pese a que el precio es bastante alto y creo que no amerita. Very good food. I went there a month ago, and it was my first time trying Venezuelan food. Everything we got was very cheesy. Personally I don't like cheesy cheesy foods, but I think they balance it out pretty well. The dessert which is viewed in the picture (I forgot the name of it) was delicious. They even gave it to us on the house even though there was only one other family in the restaurant. They also play music on the the television which I think makes the restaurant seem more lively. They have hundreds of reviews on the walls from their customers giving awesome feedback. I definitely recommend coming to this place to expand your tastebuds, or if your Venezuelan, to make you feel more at home. Because I know I felt such a warm feeling when I was there. read more

It had this whipped crema stuff and a salsa that was vaguely cucumber-ish. The combo was awesome! Check out the menu. Be bold and adventurous. Found this place by accident and I'm so glad we did. The place has a great vibe and very friendly service. We ordered the house special Picada Reina Lucero and it was truly amazing. Definitely one to split and still have left overs. It's very reasonably priced for the huge amount of food (serious split it, no human could finish it by themselves). It's hard to find really good arepas anywhere. This place has them. It kind of like a BBQ place since a lot of the menu is meat with some sides. But the meat was delicious and the arepas were everything I wanted. It's definitely worth your time and I'll definitely be back over and over read more
