The server was so nice, even when he realized none of us spoke Spanish, lol. The food was so delicious but a tad salty for me. The price was on the higher side but it's because the steak was perfect and absolutely worth every cent. They also have Inca Cola which I haven't seen anywhere since moving to Utah! I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for good Peruvian food. read more

Puro Peru is not a particularly attractive restaurant inside or out, but the food was surprisingly good. Service, as others had mentioned, is slow, but for freshly prepared food, I think it's worth the wait. The Lomo Salado with Beef was excellent. Make sure to ask for hot sauce to enrich the flavors. The Cicha Miranda was good, although it wasn't as flavorful as other Peruvian restaurants I've visited. read more

I found this restaurant three year ago and loved it. Unfortunately he quality of the food has declined so much. I ordered Saltodo Mixto and I got frozen crinkle' fries. We also ordered Yuca and it was the frozen crap you get at the store. We ordered Causa as well and, it just came with only 3 shrimp. We just to love this restaurant but the quality of food has definitely gone downhill. Services was great, but they only had one waiter, and the poor guys was trying to keep us with all the table on a Saturday. Sadly we won't be coming to this restaurant, and I will definitely find something more traditional where I don't get frozen French fries with my food. read more

I don't have any experience with Peruvian food so I don't have anything to compare it to. I got something that was labeled as beef stew with rice . The beef stew was two large chunks of beef which were covered in a tasty green sauce. It was delicious but I was expecting smaller pieces of beef . The rice had a a cute garnish - the outside of the rice was crispy which was nice. I wish the rice had more flavor The food took a long time to Come out - there were 8 of us and some people got their food much sooner than others so I am Guessing their kitchen and staff are small - so if you need a quick meal this might not be the place for you The portions I thought were good for the prices charged - I was full read more

NOT RECOMMENDED, bad experience, the owners and Chefs are NOT peruvIan's, and the food its far from authentic and delicious.. and I said this as a Peruvian born and raised by chefs... depressing ambiance read more

The ceviche was amazing! The right amount of acid and corn with the fish was right on point. We also had chicha morada with the meal and they make it just like we do at home. The food was hot and fresh and we really enjoyed it. When we come from Reno, we will visit each time. read more

We came here for the first time. The floor was sticky. The table was sticky and dirty. The waiter brought out glasses that were very dirty. The water pitcher was also dirty. When ordering, we had questions about the food since we are not native Spanish speakers. The waiter could't and didn't help us. It was as quite challenging to order. When the food came, it didn't come with the a the items that the waiter said was included. Food was not fresh. Meat was very dry like it's been re-fried a few times. Potatoes were very greasy due to being re- fried over and over. Restroom was gross. In summary, this place is very dirty and unsanitary, the service is really bad. Food sucks and is overpriced. We're not coming back. read more

It is NOT a place I would recommend: 1. They automatically CHARGE THE TIP on the bill, rather than letting customers decide the amount. 2. The PORTIONS ARE SMALL for the price, so it didn't feel like a good value. 3. SERVICE WAS POOR; we had to ask the waiter (who might be the owner) for basic items like ice and the sauce, and he never brought the ice to us. 4. The TASTE WAS AVERAGE for Peruvian cuisine, good, but not outstanding. We ordered the green soup, but it was very salty. We couldn't finish it. read more

Been here a couple times prior to this review. The service is hit or miss but they are good when they see you are in need of something. The place seems very welcoming as you walk in there is a waiter or waitress there to greet you each time I've come here. After being seated they will serve you two sauces along with some salted corn nuts. The green sauce is by far the superior tasting sauce of the two. Decided to try one new dish this visit and while it was tasty something seemed lacking. The chicken with rice if I remembered correctly was listed as bbq chicken but the chicken looks like it was pan fried. The ceviche was the reason I seem to come back for each time. There a nice tangy to the ceviche mix. The sweet potato adds a little sweetness to the dish to help balance it with the large corn? Rounding out the dish. read more

We were able to be seated right away, which is always nice. The food was good and plentiful, but on the expensive side. Dinner for two was over $60, which included a 2 liter of el Inka cola ($5.99) and a bottle of Coke. Lomo saltado was $17.99, a dollar more than their online menu stated, but it was delicious. I'm not opposed to paying that much for dinner, but for the casualness of the restaurant it felt like a lot. Service was slow, but they were packed and it was a Friday night. read more

I have always had a love for Peruvian food, and any time I see a new Peruvian restaurant, I make sure to stop in. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It may be unassuming on the outside, but everything dish I have tried here has been incredible. Their portions are generous and their sauces are authentic and flavorful. They have different sodas and desserts from South America and provide a great experience for anyone wanting quality food. read more

My little brother speaks Spanish and our 2nd time coming to this location. The first time was when K Rico Peru was here which I think had closed in 2013 (I think). I don't remember K Rico being that great though. Puro Peru on the other hand was great! Service was on the ball, food came out piping hot and delicious. Loved the purple corn drink, ceviche, chicken & alfredo, and shrimp chowder Chupe de Camarones. Items not that great were the cilantro chicken (arroz con pollo), and the cookies (Alfajores) as they didn't have enough Dulce de Leche IMO. For sure will return with a bigger party to sample more items. read more

Saw other views encouraging people to forgive the appearance, outside and in. My wife and I were craving fried yucca, plantains, and chicken - this was one of the few menus we could find with the trifecta. She got the grilled chicken and salad, I got the pollo con arroz - rice cooked in beer and a green sauce whose name escapes me now. My dish came with a potato-type side as well as a heap of a sort of pickled onions. The combo of rice, chicken, and sweet onions with a green pepper sauce throughout was great! (it's best as a combo - the chicken alone is still really good, but the other flavors take it over the top) The grilled chicken and salad dish is focused on the chicken itself and OH MY! That was AMAZING chicken. This dish was sooo worth it. The yucca was an appetizer, matched our ideal, as did the plantains. This place deserves to be tried out. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that service was pretty fast (not many people in when we went in, but it started to fill up), and our server was kind and courteous. Despite no check-in podium/desk, and despite the duct tape on the booth bench, it was such great food and atmosphere. 10/10 would go again! read more

OMG! I'm 67 years old and have never had Peruvian food. I would drive past this place almost daily when I was working and never bothered to check it out. WHAT A MISTAKE! This place is a hidden gem. The food (so far) is spectacular and I can't wait for my next visit. I strongly encourage you to check it out if you have a taste for seafood and mild Latino spices. Here's one of the recipes they make... this is obviously homemade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAfG9GbEZNw read more

Real tasty food. I ordered the fish stew. It seems we are the only non Latinos there.

The food is delicious and the portions are very generous! My favorite spot for an authentic Peruvian food!

We decided last minute to go to Puro Peru on a Saturday night at about 5pm. We went in and were seated immediately which was a pleasant surprise for a Saturday night. Neither my husband or I had ever tried Peruvian food before so we have no idea what Peruvian food is supposed to taste like. They gave us a little bowl of complementary corn which was pretty good but had a very strange texture. They went well with the 2 sauces that were served with them. We decided on two entrees that were listed as popular dishes on Yelp. We ordered Arroz con Mariscos and Bistec a la Parrilla. The waitress assured us that these were great dishes and as usual my husband and I ate half of our dish and then traded so we each get a good portion of both dishes. The "Bistec a la Parrilla" is Peruvian steak that came with a salad, white rice, french fries, and fried Plantains. The steak, which had a fried egg on top, was tasty but pretty much tasted like a steak that you could get anywhere. So if you come here looking for unique Peruvian flavors, then don't order Bistec a la Parrilla. The sides were all just ok, nothing special. "Arroz con Mariscos" is a rice dish with shrimp, squid & some veggies with mussels on the side. The flavor of the rice reminded me of Mexican rice from back home (Southern AZ). It was so loaded with squid that you couldn't take a bite with out some in it. It was very tasty and satisfying. The service, like a lot of other Yelpers reported, was subpar. We found ourselves waiting around for the waitress a lot. The atmosphere was great, very relaxed and fun. As we were leaving they had live entertainment starting up for the night which was great. We enjoyed the seafood dish but we weren't really blown away by anything else. If we ever decide to go back I look forward to trying other Peruvian dishes. read more

The food was hit and miss, arroz con mariscos was good! Go have it! Kids had salchipapa which didn't come with any sauce, we had to ask for Mayo and ketchup and they only had small sachets, which to me, sauces are important in salchipapa. Lomo saltado was not tasty. I didn't know they added tip so I left tip on top, which made my so so meal too expensive. Service was good. read more

I love Peruvian cuisine, it's my favorite ... and I wanted to try a new place ... The food here was just bland, unlike most Peruvian dishes which are full of flavor. We order Bistek a lo Pobre and Lomo Saltado. The steaks weren't seasoned... almost like boiled meat... the fries were dull, the plantains tasted like they were made earlier that morning ... I guess the rice was ok... I would love to give a better review but for the price, you expect higher quality food or at least taste ... and to be honest this was ... well tasted cheap read more

I ordered a traditional Peruvian dish from Puro Peru to go and it was so delicious! I hadn't ever tried Peruvian food before, but the meat was so well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It also came with a side of potatoes and huge kernels of corn that were both so tasty. I would definitely order this dish again! The parking lot is a bit crazy, but I can't wait to go back soon and try some different dishes. read more

I debated between 3 and 4 stars... if we had been there a different night, maybe it would be 4. This is a little hole in the wall place with a big menu and authentic Peruvian food. Usually places like this are just up my alley, but it started poorly when they didn't even acknowledge us for 10 minutes. They aren't handing out menus now, so when you stand there and wait, look at the menu they have tapped up on a TV as that is the only menu you will see. There was a huge wedding party there, but it wasn't that they were always even taking care of them, the staff just seemed to disappear. Once seated and and once we ordered our appetizer of Platanos Fritos came quickly... we just had to wait 5 minutes to get someone's attention again to bring us silverware so we could eat them. We ordered Lomo Saltado and Pechuga a la Parrilla. The portions are big, I loved the rice that came with it. The Lomo saltado was good, the chicken in the other dish was a bit bland. When we finished eating it was at least another ten minutes before we flagged someone down for a check. They do have a small kids menu, and they can push tables together for big groups. This place is definitely very authentic and maybe a different night would have been better service, but if you like Peruvian food, definitely try this place. read more

Great flavors but the food was all a bit dry.. I'd recommend getting their green sauce on the side. They were out of all the appetizers we wanted, they didn't have their tapas, or tamales, our server recommend the yuquita fritos.. which is $7 for fried yuca and cheese.. every dish we ordered had fried Yuca root, which made the appetizer a costly disappointment. The Rachi traditional was good.. but was missing something to absorb the flavors, it came out like an unorganized mess. Our main dishes were the chicharone de pollo and the beef heart stir fry, both were excellent, though I would rather have the pollo dish served in a taco. Our server neglected our waters, and even though it wasn't busy, our server was rarely present.. but sue was rather nice to us.. it did take 30 minutes to get our check, even though our server only had 3 other tables. read more
