Get there so they say they are out of noodle's and a few things ok so order Chaufa @7:15 pm than they 15 year old waiter waits 50 mins to say they are out . Mind I ordered the chaufa with the intent to share with my 3 year old so now it's 8:05 pm . They bring my wife food at 8:25 then mine at 8:45 . Ask the kid to speak to the owner he lies and says he doesn't understand english do than I ask for the chef than he smiles and says the same . I talk to the owner who actually speaks and understands enough just says sorry . I say look I have had 2 bad experiences now I wish you could give me a reason to come back I like the food , sorry . No wonder everyone goes to Rl Rocoto they fix their mistakes if they made them but usually they are on top of it do they don't .Real disappointed that no one here cares and the little teenager smiles like a smarty pants . read more

Delicious and authentic. I have been driving pass this place so many times but haven't tried it until my friend told me to go there. Let me tell you the food here doesn't disappoint at all. But there are some kinks to this place that will make me think about coming back. They brought roasted corn with sauce for the table to start. Let's start with the food here. I ordered arroz con pollo and it was very delicious. You get to chose the part of the chicken, leg or breast. I got the leg and the meat was super tender. The flavor was deep in the chicken. The rice had a lot of flavor in it. My friend ordered poor mans steak and the portion is more for a starving man. The steak was flavorful and the meat always tender. It came with side of fries, rice and a salad. It was really delicious. My other friend ordered the seafood platter. It was very huge. It isn't a one person portion. But the seafood is super delicious and flavorful. The service here was very hard on both the waitress and us. That's because the waitress had limited English to use. We had a lot of hand gestures and very simple simple English, most yes and no's. The most important thing to remember when coming here. Is to keep your coat on the entire time. The restaurant is freezing cold. I don't think their heater works. All in all. I would recommend this place for the food. read more

The food was so good and it was my first time trying Peruvian food and everyone was so nice and the service was great. They helped me choose because I was debating on what to order, the servings are kinda big in my point of view but it is worth the price and they have live music as well. read more

5 star ceviche! Beef was Lomo Secco dry dry unfortunately had a hard time chewing, definitely a one off in multiple visits here

Do not be put off by the outward appearance of this restaurant. Sure, it is run down and divey, but the inside is a wee improvement (they are really trying with their cloth tablecloths, ha!). It's a little dark, but we'll call it moody, and their booths are the circular style I adore. As soon as we were seated, our waitress brought out this cooked corn that looks like giant un-popped popcorn kernels along with two sauces. It was mildly crunchy, but mostly just salty and a vehicle for the two delish dips. One was a spicy cilantro base; the other was kind of like tangy mayonnaise? It's difficult to describe either, but this was a superb starter. I could have just had a meal of it alone! The menu is huge, and having only a little experience with Peruvian food, it was difficult to make a decision as it all sounded scrumptious. Expect to find many options of meat and seafood, plus all the carbs. I ordered the bistec a lo pobre, which features steak topped by an egg fried over easy, fries, salad, and rice (I subbed beans for the rice). The steak was cooked as requested, very juicy, and nicely spiced (borderline too salty). It was fantastic with the leftover spicy green sauce. The salad was simply iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber with a little drizzle of dressing, but it was a much-needed foil to the richness of the other components of the dish. The fries were horrid. Like, the absolute worst fries of my entire life: super soft, not at all seasoned, and even if they had been good they were plated next to the salad, so just soaked up all the water. The beans were bland, but excellent texture-wise. I also tried a bite of the fried chicken that is part of their alfredo dish. It was simple, but tasty. We ordered chichi morada, a pretty purple drink made with spices and corn. Sounds odd, but tastes delicious! They had some cookies and other desserts available, but I was too stuffed to have any. I'll definitely return, though, and make sure to partake. I found the Festival Criollo intriguing, which is listed on the menu as a meal to share, and would be a great way to try many different dishes. Prices are a bit high for the atmosphere, however the food is mostly so excellent that they can get away with it. Also, they serve cuy (guinea pig)!!! Anyone adventurous enough to try it with me?! read more

If you want authentic Peruvian food, come here! It's amazingly good and the portions are fantastic. We ordered the classic Lomo Saltado and the Arroz con Pollo/Papa a la Huancaína. We also ordered a side of plaintains, which were a bit dry and so-so, but the two entrees were amazing. The only real downside was the corner that we sat at had an awkward funky smell around it. The table next to us said the same thing, and they sat before us, so it wasn't my own B.O. I swear :) Great food and we'll definitely be coming back! read more

Great food and nice staff. It is a relaxed atmosphere, you are never rushed like most restaurants.

Love love Peruvian food! This place gets lost on state street and more people need to check it out! It's seriously a little gem! Ok so when you first walk it you might be unsure. But it's very clean and u won't regret it! So if you are being super adventurous and want the total experience order the Chicha Morada. It's a yummy drink made from purple corn! I know I know what you are thinking, but seriously give it a try. You will be so happy you did, and here is a pro tip! Well at least A JC tip but order it with lots of ice, they don't really serve it with a lot of ice but it seriously taste so good! As an appetizer order the papa la huancaina. Basically a boiled potato in yellow sauce. YES just order it. As your course order the Lomo Saltado! Ok it's skirt steak and French fries with onion and stuff! You will lose your mind and come back to follow me for more tips! If you want to be super adventurous and have a group order the Jalea sea food! Shut up and order it! The food deserves 4.5 stars but the less than pleasant attitude with from employees and late orders is my reason behind my 3 star review. The food is wonderful but Puro Peru has a reputation when it comes to long wait times for your order. My table decided to call ahead 1 hour before our arrival and placed our orders and when we arrived, our food was not ready. We asked for a status update regarding our order and we're informed they had not started on anything. We sat and waited for our food for half an hour which makes me question why they didn't start on our order an hour and a half ago when we called. By the time our food was ready we only took a few bites before having to leave. The food is really good and the ingredients are fresh which is why they will have continue to have my business but I won't be dining in anytime soon. Any future Togo orders will be placed well in advance to avoid any mishap but some would agree an hour and a half notice for food is a sufficient amount of time. read more

I never leave review but this place left a terrible taste in my mouth service wise I went in over the weekend and stood in line excited to have some lomo saltado when I got attended I told the girl I wanted take out she said okay she said one second I waited a few minutes and turn to realize that she had walked away to clean a table a few workers walked past and they all simply lacked customer service etiquette, no knowledgement to even ask if I had been helped or to just let me know that they would get to me soon I walked out disappointed and found rocoto in west valley with great customer service and amazing food I'd recommend them instead read more

All I can say is that I will never go back to that shit hole, the enviroment was indeed a third world style, the floors dirty as hell , the seco was really dry and looks that they reuse the beef left overs , the Lomo saltado , no garlic no tender beef, no salt no flavor, what a shame of a place that does not represent at all the Peruvian couisine. My calamri plate was good. Fried squid with some fires and red onions on the side. No complaints from my end. My friend tho... he got a COLD CHICKEN. The funny thing about this is, he calls the waiter and the waiter puts her finger in the chicken to make sure if it was cold. She assured us that it was cold and took it to the cook. No glove or anything just her finger. My friend told me it's was eating something that was frozen. The surface of the chicken was hot but the inside of the chicken was cold. read more

I am Peruvian and it is really hard to find food in the states that even resembles the true taste and I am happy to say that I have found the closest thing. When we arrived they seated us immediately with a smile. They gave us water and canchita (which is a Peruvian toasted corn) which was delicious! We ordered an Inca cola (typical soda), anticichos , papa a la huancaina, and lomo soltado. It all was delicious and all came in a timely manner. The service was great, very friendly. I went there with my grandma, mom and aunt who all grew up there and they loved it as well! Will be coming back! read more

The food is absolutely fantastic! We each ordered something different and they all had amazing flavors and a good portion size. My only complaints are that they are way over priced and the prices appear to be going up and they don't serve alcohol. I understand that they are LDS, but to be a good restaurant you should have a little something for everyone. Even that Romney guy has alcohol in his home for guests that do drink.

The food is amazing and the service was great. This is a whole in the wall... not your typical chain restaurant. The worse service anyplace. The waitress just came 3 times to our table once to take the order, second to bring the food, turd to brought water. We went find her to pay che never came back to ask if we need anything else but of course they charge 9 dollars tip with no autorización y know $9 it's not too much but it is for 2 people service if u are not attending them just getting a tip for coming 4 times to your table it's ridiculous!!!besides that they charged u for paying with your credit card it's another inaceptable thing. Everybody pays with plastic now why do u have to pay extra for using it card to pay !!!!! Not recommended this place take too long to get it food !!! read more

I really wish I could give this place zero stars. We waited close to two hours for Aguadito de Pollo and it never came. We repetitively asked the waitress when it was coming. She kept saying it takes longer. This was not disclosed to us from the beginning. The waiting staff was constantly behind the cash wrap laughing instead of servicing customers. My toddler spilled some water and when we asked the waitress if we could have something to clean it up she just threw a rag on the floor. She left the water behind risking another customer falling. The food we did get was mediocre at best. The lomo saltado was dry and lacked flavor. I am genuinely appalled. The level of service shocked me. I won't be coming back. read more

We of course had to order the Inca Cola because as a child my best friend and her family was from Peru so I had already grown fond of Inca Cola (think kinda pink bubblegum-ish flavored). We ordered the ceviche and the lomo saltado. The ceviche was fresh with a lovely lime taste that finished with some heat. It was so filling and very refreshing. The calamari was not tough or chewy at all and the fish and mussels were fresh. The lomo saltado I had with beef and chicken served in the most delicious savory sauce. It came with rice and fries and I would order or again for sure. This is the kind off place that attracts peruvians so you know it's authentic. I loved it and we will be back! read more

Peruvian restaurants from what I can tell are seemingly unknown or don't get the attention they deserve. Their food is downright good! Puro Peru does quite a few dishes to perfection. Their Ceviche clasico is so good, I crave it at least once a week. The lomo saltado, papa a la huancaina and arroz con pollo are as good as any I had in Peru. The menu I feel offers something good for anyone's tastes. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Especially the ceviche!! read more

Felt ambitious one day and decided to try Peruvian food for the first time. One of the guys in our group spent 2 years there, and we pretty much let him take the lead. The atmosphere was great, with TV and music. Got two main dishes. 1. Arroz chaufa with beef. (5/5) Fried rice with egg and steak. Add in garlic cilantro and spicy sauce. It's just a big portion, tastes delicious, and fills you up. 2. Ceviche (5/5) Raw fish soaked in lime juice with onions. A quintessential Peruvian dish and truly unique. Every bite of fish is a flavor explosion and absolutely no fishy aroma at all. Combination of both of these dishes really complemented each other well and made me crave and do more research on Peruvian food. I will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend Puro Peru to anyone. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible! The restaurant was empty and our food took forever to come out. The last plate which came out 10 minutes later than everyone else's was salty. The server missed a plate in the order. By the end of it the up the gratuity of 20%. I said something and the server with a smirk says it's their policy. Horrible! A tip needs to be earned, so that's why he didn't implement that much effort with our service. read more

The reason I brought my family to this place is truthfully due to good Yelp review coming from a number of yelpers ... So I ordered based on previous yelpers review, which are the deep fried seafood plater and chicken cutlet on top of green spaghetti ... Sorry I could not remember the name of the dishes exactly. Let's start with the chicken cutlet on top of green spaghetti ... It costs around $14, but the plate is larger and good for two persons. The spaghetti is tasty and delicious. The chicken is thinly sliced and breaded, I like it ... Remind me of similar dish in Singapore. The deep fried seafood is huge. This is as good a dish as reviewed in yelp. My son truly loved the fish, it's a fresh fish and no fishy smell at all. My son kept asking for the fish... The calamari is good as well... I like the lime deep onion, they're truly refreshing. The prawn is good and the mussel is ok. At the end we box the remaining back home as we're so stuffed. The reasons I do not give 5 stars are as follows: 1. The restroom isn't as clean 2. The service is average, whereby they don't serve your drink; instead, they give you empty glasses with separate water in a jug. 3. The outside of the restaurant is not well organized for the parking, waiting place, etc. read more

So, it was a Saturday night and I felt like eating in and we rented Frozen. I used the Yelp App to see what was nearby and opened around 9pm. Puro Peru was one of those places. So they get a +1 for being opened late. I called and placed an order for the Tacu Lomo and not knowing if they have the next dish or not I just asked for it, which was the Aji de gallina. I was surprised that they had this here since most Peruvian places I go to in Utah do not serve this dish, so I was excited, and another +1 just for having this dish. The lady told me that it would take about 10-15 mins. 15 min passed and we were there and they said two more minutes. Servers came in and out and kept saying two more minutes. Another server saw that the food still has not arrived and still waiting, instead of checking on the food and seeing how it was going, she went to go dance with a customer and she saw my bf giving her the eye like WTF, so she kept on dancing and tried to deflect his eyes. So, negative many stars for this. After 30 + minutes from the time I called, the food was finally ready. Now for the food, I dug into the aji de gallina first since I've been waiting for this for the long time. It had the usual components of the creamy yellow sauce, chicken, potatoes, and boiled eggs. Is it the best that I had no, but it had the basics. The spices and flavors weren't all there, but it was good enough. Next, the tacu lomo, which is usually fried rice with beans and sauteed beef with onions and tomatoes. As far as the rice goes, I wish it had some crispiness to it. It might be different if I had it right away there since it was sitting in the sauce for awhile. Now for the beef, it was inconsistent, some pieces were tougher than others and some were a good consistency. As for now, I don't recommend getting take out from this place. I will come back and try out this place to see if the food was better and hopefully the service as well. read more

I was very disappointed in the Ceviche Classico... This is actually my favorite dish but it was the first time I went to this restaurant.... I was surprised when this dish came with milk in it and I ordered medium spicy that tasted like there was no spice at all.... I always had this dish else where and friends who are Peruvian that didn't make it with milk.... So the milk killed it for me! Or maybe I'm spoiled with having bomb Peruvian food in California and Peruvian friends. read more

Such yummy food! Tacu tacu de lomo abd tacu tacu puro Peru were both delicious and the arroz con pollo was really flavorful. Also, the chicha was above average (real chicha and not powder mix!) Overall I will definitely recommend it, I will be coming back for more tacu tacu! read more

This is the worst restaurant I have been to. They are the perfect example of no customer service skills. I ordered Pollada plate and the chicken was salty and there was a hair on it. One of the waiters came over and told him about it and he came back with and empty plate for me to put the chicken but told him about the hair and took the whole plate. Then another waitress came over and with attitude said they were not going to bring me another plate of what I ordered. She asked if I wanted to order again. I did not ordered. At the end the owner was standing at the door and did moved until my friends and I paid. He was rude! This is just my experience and hopefully you guys do go through that. read more

First time here was a great experience! Enjoyed EVERYTHING we ordered. Started with the Yucca frita appetizer which was the best I have ever had before. The Traditional Anticuchos were the next tasty thing to arrive to the table. Thick cuts of marinated beef heart was incredible and so tender. Also we had the Lomo Saltado which was very good but presented differently than I was used to. Coming to the table last was a Causa de Pollo which was very tasty too. Service was very well from a friendly gentle man there. After we finished the meal I noticed that the place was getting busy and over half of the tables had patrons dining there for the late dinner hour. Best Peruvian in the valley! I used to love Del Mar Alago downtown but their quality and service has slipped pretty far. We always get Papa Huancaina a steamed potato in a sometimes spicy yellow sauce and Lomo Saltado, steak, tomatoes, onions, rice and fries with a yummy rich dark sauce. The food was delicious as usual and even better than I remember to some degree. Service was pretty good, around average or a little above.
