Red Fuego I visited Red Fuego at Traverse Mountain after hearing several good recommendations, so I arrived with fairly high expectations. When I got there, the restaurant was clean and well organized, and there were not many customers at the time, which made the atmosphere feel calm and relaxed. The service was average. It wasn't unfriendly, but it also wasn't particularly warm or memorable. I ordered the arroz chaufa, and in terms of flavor I have to say it was very tasty. The rice itself had great seasoning and a really nice flavor. However, the dish was a bit disappointing because it was almost entirely rice--the chicken was practically nonexistent. For a dish like this, you expect a better balance of ingredients, and unfortunately the main protein was missing. Sadly, this made the overall experience not the best, especially considering the positive recommendations I had heard before visiting. I hope they can improve the consistency of their dishes and the proportion of ingredients, because the flavor of the rice shows that the kitchen has the potential to deliver a much better experience. read more

The main dining room smelled like sewer. We had to move upstairs. The fountain drink machine was out of ice, and the Diet Coke was completely out of syrup. When we alerted the staff, we were met with indifference and it was not fixed even though we had paid for sodas. The chicken was super oily and made the salad lettuce inedible because it was brown & wilted from the oil. Sadly I will not be back. read more

Every time we come here, we always leave satisfied. The food is cooked well, and the portions are filling. The flavor and presentation are very nice. The restaurant itself is clean and it's easy to find a good place to sit. The orders just take a few minutes to come out, and the staff is friendly and polite. I had the arroz chaufa (fried rice type of meal), and the chicken pieces inside were big and tasty. The parking lot is shared with a few businesses, so you may have difficulty finding a close spot depending on the time you decide to go. read more

Great crisp skin and tender chicken. The arroz chauffa was delicious as well, if I were to go back this is the thing to order. Lots of good flavor and taste! I paid $18 for 5 small pieces of steak and a drink. The food took a very long time to be served. I was with one other person - we ordered at the same time. 3 people passed in front of us before we could receive our second order despite it being the same thing. Service is awful. Girl at the counter seemed bothered when we had questions about the menu. This was supposed to be a quick yummy place for lunch but was anything but that. Extremely overpriced. My little brother was in the area and went to laid back Poke shack and then saw this place in the Lehi strip mall. After a Google search found that they have a location in Orem too. Surprised they didn't have the traditional appetizers that other Peruvian restaurants serve in the states. Prices are a bit steep, for 4 items the total came to $50.48 without a tip. The good: -The 1/4 chicken was excellent and full of flavor -Yuca perfectly cooked -Aji De Gallina (the nice rich creamy yellow pepper sauce) The needs work: -Red Fuego bowl (pricey for the small amount of chicken) -Tallarines verdes (wrong kind of noodles and basil sauce needed a lot more substance, and steak was very gristly) Didn't get to try the desserts, will be back for just the chicken next time as it was excellent and worth the cost. read more

The plantains were some of the best I've ever had! I will say they were very greasy and sweet just like they should be. One of my absolute FAVORITE places to eat. I've been to the Provo, Lehi, and Saratoga Springs locations, and all three have been well maintained with great staff! The chicken and sides are always amazing, especially with their sauce, but I also love getting Lomos Saltado! The Yucca fries are my favorite side, but the black beans and sweet potato fries are great too! Basically everything I've tried has been delicious, even the little cookies at the counter and the Inca Cola! My family and I go here whenever we get the chance! read more

A lot of people were saying how good this place was and we happened to be nearby one night so we decided to check them out. We wanted something traditional so we ordered lomo saltado and chicken thighs with two sides. We really liked the lomo saltado cos it was very consistent with seasonings (soy sauce) but we kind of wished it came with more steak cos we got like 6 thick strips. They have the BEST fried rice! In the 4 years I've lived in Salt Lake, I have been to many Asian restaurants looking for fried rice that you can smell the "wok hei" (the heat and smoke smell from the wok) and I have found it in a Peruvian restaurant in Lehi! I tried a new dish here today i.e $8.99 1/4 leg and thigh with 2 sides (plantain and white rice). I love the smell of the spices on the dark meat and the white rice was cooked well (Asian Approved). However, the plantain was a tad dry and less ripened to my taste. I will prolly go for the yuca fries next time as a side. I only wish there's one in SLC so I can visit whenever I have cravings for fried rice! Definitely my go to place when I'm in Lehi. read more

Pulling into a big shopping center with plenty of food places makes it tough to spot this Peruvian gem but for those of you who may be getting groceries at Harmons or getting a haircut, don't miss this stellar place. The menu has a few options that range from Lomo Saltado (steak with onions and bell peppers severed over rice) to Tallarines Verdes (basil sauce on flat noodles with steak or chicken) but the real star of the show is the Pollo a la Brasa. If you didn't know pollo a la brasa is whole chicken that has been marinated over night in a blend of spices and then rotisserie cooked over charcoal or in this case a wood fired oven. The flavors are intense but not too spicy so don't be afraid to have it by the handful. Believe me this is going to put that Costco chicken to shame every time. If you're up to it grab some chicken wrap it in a little bit of that blackened skin, dip it in the sauce and BOOM, flavor bomb. Your mouth with thank me. This time I went with the yuca fries and black beans for sides. The yuca is a root vegetable also known as a cassava. It's like a potato but starchier with a more firm texture after frying. Did them in the sauce too. Don't be afraid to ask for more sauce, they know you like it. The black beans are flavorful and a good contribution to offset the fries and chicken but that's all they are, a side. Although I find this place to be a bit pricey it's still a great choice for a good meal. Only thing is change is a sauce option with a little more spicy heat to it and maybe some utensils with a little more fortitude. -Parking is plentiful as you're in a big shopping area. - There's a cute little getaway seating area up top. -They serve coke products and carry Inca Kola (Peruvian soda that tastes kind of like cream soda). -Little hideaway seating area upstairs is cool. -Chicken served in 1/4, 1/2, whole options. Disappointing. I love Lomo Saltado, unfortunately the meat was dry, the portion was small and lacking flavor, the fries seemed to have been sitting a while, they were cold and limp. The price was way too high for the portion. Not sure if I will go back, I wanted to try the chicken, but did not want to purchase a second entree. I asked if I could purchase a piece of chicken. No. They also support another trend I don't like, one size of soda, basically a small. but charge more than a standard fast food large. pretty bird does this, as well as a couple others. Terrible if you are taking it to go. I guess I will chase the Red Food Truck around the valley for my Lomo Saltado fix. Interesting little joint we have going on here. I've never had Peruvian food before, so this was a first. I'm a big fan of trying new things, I had a pretty open mindset. We ordered a good sampling of all the dishes, chicken and steak, noodles and rice. Nothing really stood out as being awesome or groundbreaking for me. Some of the spices were alright, I probably liked the rice the best. But nothing to really bring me back. They did have a good dining center but it was pretty vacant. There was an upstairs nook I would've sat at if I was dining with in. The ladies at the front were not too helpful or enthusiastic. No real recommendations were made. And the food took a while to come out, I think we were waiting over 30 minutes. I had to walk up to the front after seeing a bunch of bags sitting on the countertop for a few minutes. Pretty solid chicken. I had the 1/4 breast with 2 sides for $9.99 and really liked it. They've got a big selection of sides, rice, fries, yucca, quinoa, and more. I went with the fries, yucca, and an Inca Cola. The chicken was really flavorful and juicy. The seasoning on it is great. I was a little disappointed by the yucca, because it was served more like a fry than how I've had it in the past (cut into cubes). It was still good, but I wouldn't bother getting fries and yucca. I was so excited to see Red Fuego opening close to my work! I love rotisserie chicken and love Lomo Saltado as well. This place doesn't disappoint, the chicken was delicious, tender, juicy and flavorful. The flavors almost reminded me of like a Caribbean jerk seasoning. A tiny bit of sweetness with quite a bit of savory. Make sure you get plenty of the green aji sauce. It's amazing on everything from the avocados to the chicken and it isn't spicy. The salad comes with a vinaigrette that is a little sweet but not too strong and overpowering like a lot of vinaigrettes. I got to try some bites of the Lomo Saltado and it was delicious. If I wasn't trying to get back into low carb/Keto I totally would prefer the Lomo. The steak was super tender, the flavor is on point too! I think the only things I would change are to make sure the food is hot coming out, mine wasn't cold but wasn't as hot as you would expect and maybe I just didn't check with the staff but a spicy sauce would be a nice addition too. Oh I might add the prices are a touch high for lunch, but they do advertise that it is all organic chickens and they marinate the chicken overnight and then cook it rotisserie style. So maybe those things are worth the premium for you. read more

It is very exciting to have Red Fuego right here in Lehi. The restaurant is spacious with 1.5 levels and a modern, minimalistic look. The music was really good (Latin hip hop) until someone complained and they changed it to 80s top 40--I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Debbi Gibson and Def Leppard as much as any Gen Xer, but this is a Latin restaurant so Latin music is very much appropriate and enjoyed (I saw several customers shaking it to the contagious beat.). Service was excellent. The food was very good. The meat in the Lomo Saltado was tender and delicious. The roasted chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The rice, side of beans, yuca, and plantains were perfect. The only problem I had was that the onions in the Lomo were under cooked and there were way too many slices. I love onions, probably why this dish is one of my favorites, but could only eat about a third of them and still had tons leftover--see picture. Another problem is that they use a lot of disposable items. They could greatly reduce the amount of waste by using reusable plates and utensils. read more
