I was very impressed with the churrasco sandwich! It is so simple - steak, tomato, mayo and a heaping amount avocado (which I love)! Don't let its simplicity fool you - it was very tasty! The bread was so soft with some nicely toasted parts. The churresco is quite sizable - definitely got me very full and satisfied. I never had a circle sandwich before so it was a fun new thing to try! As a side order, I got fried plantains which were yummy! Great palette cleanser - they have just the right amount of sweetness to them. The food came out fairly quick and the server/cashier was kind and attentive. Even though he was also the cashier, he took the time to come to my table to see if I needed anything else :) The place is nice and clean. It had some pictures of Chile on the walls. This is a very solid place to get South American food and I've been here several times. Their Chilean sandwiches are great, especially the chicken milanesa one. Their bistec a lo pobre is also good. They have delicious french fries too. Keep in mind that the portion sizes are quite large, so I recommend sharing or getting a doggie bag. Their prices are more than you'd expect, but since you're getting a lot of food, it's ok. They're definitely cheaper than Holy Cow, the Chilean sandwich truck you see everywhere. read more

I love Lomito's. One of my colleagues brought me here a few years ago and it has been a regular spot for us ever since. It's a small, kind of hole in the wall Chilean restaurant that is run by the owner and his wife. There are usually a couple of their friends chatting in the corners and a few of us gringos grabbing a quick lunch. The owner is absolutely hilarious. I would go in over and over again just to spend a few minutes bantering with him. It is so fun to see a man who loves his job and is so happy. I usually opt for something simple, sandwich and fries. I ordered the breaded chicken and my friend ordered the steak sandwich. The flavor of the seasoning and the bun are pretty good. The reasons I'm giving a two stars are: 1. The breaded chicken is honestly the driest chicken I have ever tried. It felt like I'm chewing wood chips. 2. The egg white in the steak sandwich is partially raw. But need to manage expectations that this is more Chilean food than Peruvian despite the menu options. Lomo saltado flavors are slightly different and sauces (which usually make the food) are more Chilean than Peruvian. For me, Argentine food is comfort food. I said goodbye to my teenage years in Argentina, and some of my best days were spent there in difficult, but character-building times. Simpler times in so many ways. There's something so simple, yet so mystical about the empanada. I once made a goal to eat 1000 of them in a year, and after falling ill on a batch about 400 in, I stopped that goal. But even then, I still think of the empanada as a comfort food. Flaky fried or baked shell, rolled in that special way, surrounding ground beef or chicken or jamon y queso. If you were lucky, it was real jamon y queso. If not, it was hot dog and cheese food. So it was a wonderful discover to find Lomito's. There was much empanada-ing. And much choripan (although it was not the choripan of tradition--more like a thin sausage burger?) that brought me back to the days of chorizo and guiso and fideos and facturas. Oh yes, there were facturas too. I never loved dulce de batata, but if you can find the dulce de membrillo, you got's to get you some. They sell the actual product there, as well as a few other things--yerba mate, dulce de leche, and to my surprise and delight, a surtido bag of galletitas. In my day it was the "desfile" bag (meaning parade) but it's still mostly that same mix of terrible cookies that gave you comfort. That's the thing--comfort. Back to those days. Those tough days when you were missing your homeland and bag of cookies made everything a little better. You knew you were going to be just fine, but having a few empanadas, or some cookies just made things a little sunnier. read more

I've driven by this place probably hundreds of times and never really noticed. Until Yelp pointed it out for me. So I decided to try it out! Run by a cute little Chilean family, they serve Chilean, Peruvian, and Argentine food. I had a friend with me who lived in Chile and he said it's authentic. You can choose from sandwiches, empanadas, or entree plates (usually steak and French fries and then something else like egg or rice). Definitely recommend the empanadas. They were yummy. Especially with the sauce - not sure what it's called but it was the one that was not fry sauce. And for $2-$3, it's a steal. My friend also really liked the sandwich. After seeing this place for ages, I finally got here. What a mistake not coming earlier. While the fries were a bit on the soft side, the sandwich was excellent. I didn't take any pictures, because how many pictures of sandwiches do you want to see. However, I just looked at the pictures, and there isn't a single picture of a sandwich, even though that's really their forte at lunch. There are empanadas and full entrees as well. The wife and I got sandwiches that could be bookends. Each was the same with different meat. I had sliced pork, she had sliced beef. It was on an excellent large bread/bun with significant amounts of mashed avacado, tomato, and mayo. It was delicious, and almost more than I can eat. This is my first time at Lomito's and it was just ok. There were some good things about this place and some pretty bad things. The gentleman who helped us was very friendly but he needed some help. We ordered a soft drink and some waters. We got half of our water cups but never got our soft drink. They also need to change the way they do the final bill. I told him we did not get the drink and to not bill us for it but there was no way of checking if the bill was right because they do not give a detailed check. The sandwiches were good but the thin slices of meat were very disappointing. The beef empanada was delicious but it also had very little meat. The fried plantains were great. The plantain was perfectly ripe and they were well cooked. They had some problems but the worse one was cleanliness. Our table and the booth were filthy with caked on dry sauce, and the cups were sticky. The floor was also dirty and sticky. If the area of the restaurant that is visible is so dirty, I fear what the state of the kitchen may be. read more

Monday of this week my wife and I were both feeling really low and thought a pick me up would be in order. We dropped into this little shopping strip after leaving Harbor Freight and found this restaurant we had never heard of. One of the interesting things about this particular place is how much fried eggs are part of the cuisine, and I've heard that is very common in Argentinian food. My wife had Milanesa whereas I had the Lomito Argentino. My food was delicious, though the only thing I can think of to compare it to would be a really deluxe egg salad sandwich with a million extra goodies in it. Definitely worth a try, and with the addition of the pineapple jarritos, great find and a wonderful experience! The meat was delicious, but I felt like it could have used an extra helping of meat to make it extra special. Also, make sure to get some of their special sauce to put on the sandwich. All I can say is get the empanadas! The ham and cheese empanada was so good! The dough was flakey and crispy and the cheese on the inside was very melty and gooey. I only ordered one when I went but on my next visit I plan on ordering at least 5 of those wonderful suckers. The sandwich I got was ok, I could tell it was real pork loin as it had some bite to it so that was nice, but the sandwich was plagued with so much crunchy water (lettuce) that it took away the flavor or everything else. The avocado was a really nice addition to the sandwich and the homemade bread was a really nice touch as well. As I mentioned though these guys really know how to do empanadas, and you will definitely miss out if you don't order at least a few of those. They have some traditional Peruvian desserts including Tres Leches which looked really good and definitely deserves a try next time I'm there.
