Just to preface my review: I don't eat El Salvadorian food a lot haha. BUT I really liked this place. It seems authentic and is fairly priced! I opened the menu and went straight for the lengua guisada (cow tongue stew); if lengua ain't your thing then don't get it ok. But as a lengua-lover myself, I thought the stew was DELICIOUS along with the beans and rice. It was just a great combo and I'd definitely come back for it again. The papusa was good, but there was barely any pork inside (as other reviews have mentioned), but the cost was quite the deal! I love yuca and fried pork so that dish also slapped. Overall.....amazing and the workers are very friendly! I would definitely come again!!

Some of the best pupusas we've had in Utah. The corn mixture is very flavorful and a good ratio to the filling. We ended up mixing hot sauce with the sauce provided to give it a little more heat. Great overall and so affordable!

I've gone to a handful of Pupusarias in Utah and this place has the best Pupusas. My husband went on his mission to Guatemala and was close to the border of El Salvador (where Pupusas originate) and that's where he had his first experience with Pupusas. I'm as "bland" as can be and can't handle spice so when he first talked about Pupusas I was worried that it would be spicy; but they are not at all! They have some sauce that you can put on them to make them spicy, but they don't come spicy. We always get the Pupusas de Revueltas which is a corn tortilla stuffed with cheese and pork. You only need to order 2 of them per person. First off, I am not a fan of corn tortillas, but I would not classify these as corn tortillas, they are thicker and not dry like most corn tortillas I've had. The Pupusas come out with a little crispiness around some parts of it due to the cheese seeping out and getting cooked on the grill; it's delicious! They bring out a bowl of cabbage with some type of dressing on it to put on top of your Pupusas and that has a little kick to it, so I normally just eat mine plain. They also bring out 2 sauces; one is a tomato type of sauce and the other is spicy. Overall: If you like meat and cheese, try them out!

I love pupusas and this is quite a nice place to go to! They have nice service and the portions are good and filling. The pupusas are yummy, but the meat is quite little compared to other pupusas places! I love the fried plantains, a little pricy but delicious! Cute restaurant to check out, good for a cheap meal and very casual

I got two pupusas: Bean and Cheese Papusa, and Cheese Pupusa! They were very good! I didn't really know what to expect, I had never had them before. A coworker of mine had brought them up to me. The worker who took my order was very friendly and helped answer a few questions I had. I would recommend this place to others.

I've only been here for the Papusas. They're booommbb. I got 3 with the pork inside and that was plenty for me. Not expensive at all and a really fresh taste. I love the slaw you add on top with the yummy sauce that kinda has a faint taste of a spaghetti sauce or tomato sauce. Really good vibe and atmosphere. Beautiful authentic art and artifacts all around the place. It is family owned and they are really nice, talkative people!

Yes, the papusas are the best thing to satisfy a late-night craving. (And they're like 2 bucks each!) They were my favorite thing here until I tried the fried fish. Game changer. It's literally the entire fish-head and eyeballs and bones and all, you just pull it apart and get all the crispy and tender fish off the bone. That's not easy to find in Utah. Also the people that work here are so so lovely, always super friendly and sweet. It just makes the experience that much better.

If you have never had a pupusa, you are missing some deliciousness in your life. A pupusa is a cornmeal "pocket" that is deep-fried with a savory filling that can include cheese, beans, chicken, pork, or beef or a combination of same. Pupusas are relatively thin, so get at least a couple. They are served with a thin--not hot-spicey red sauce--and appropriately, slightly sour cabbage slaw. I love them. The pupusas at this restaurant are authentic, at least in my limited experience. They are wonderful here. This establishment is frequented by Central Americans and the wait staff speaks limited English, but somehow we happily made it through. The waitress smiled throughout my stumbling attempt at Spanish. We tipped her well. No visit to a Central American restaurant is complete without Plantains. Plaintains are sort of like the Central Americans' potato (that resembles an elongated and thin banana. You've probably passed over them at an American grocery store) in that they are a starch with a hint of banana flavor. They are a lot of work to properly prepare. The plantains at this restaurant are delicious and served with dipping sauces of crema (similar to sour cream) and thin, but delicious, refried beans. The atmosphere at this establishment may be off-putting to some (they may be operating on a shoestring), but it reminded me of establishments in real Central America, and therefore, I loved it. If you're a snob, may I suggest you dine somewhere else, such as a fast food establishment, and while you're there, be sure to go through the drive-through lane and while doing so, relish your lack of adventure.

El Salvador was one of the few restaurants open on a Sunday in the small town of Provo. After a beautiful hike, we were in need of a refuel and wanted to try something new. The family home feeling is very comforting and welcoming. I got the steak with sautéed onions and was very pleased. The steak was tender and juicy, and the onion with a tomatoey sauce were the perfect topping. For $10, I couldn't have asked for a better steak meal.

I ordered two pupusas revueltas and finished them feeling full! They are pretty authentic and the topics are good! The restaurant has a very Latino vibe

Cafe Guanico solved my papusa & Salvadorian horchata craving…read more My go-to papusas are the loroco/cheese and zucchini/cheese. Both of the papusas I got were fresh, had a good amount cheese, and the veggies were delicious. They do include the salad and tomato sauce on the side. The horchata isn't just a regular rice and water drink. There's a bunch of seeds and toasted rice blended together so you get a real nutty and almost smoke flavour. This is my 2nd favorite kind of Horchata. I've never had chapulines and a family member wanted to try them so I got a side of those as well. They didn't taste like much, mostly salty, sour, crunchy and a toasted flavor. I only ate a few because I started having flashbacks to insect videos on YouTube which have permanently ruined my eyesight. I'll definitely come back when I'm in town.

Well, the soup alone is a meal and a hearty one. The broth was delicious and included large chunks of carrots, like two whole potatoes, two pieces of chicken (wasn't my fav part but oh well), and delicious rice on the side.... and two tortillas. The papusas were hot and delicious and extremely filling. The cabbage slaw topping and salsas and everything in general was clearly fresh. Whatever you order will definitely satisfy your appetite. And for anyone wondering about what a Tlaytudas is we didn't order the dish but it looked like an El Salvadoran pizza. Def a meal for two.
