Do: Stop in solo, sit & watch the street fly by Grab coffee/pastries to go (especially if you aren't solo, as this shop can barely accommodate more than 3? people standing in the cafe area. There are two high top stools/counter at the front, plus the register and bar with espresso machine Don't: Come here for a first date coffee :p The "don't" was my plan, but I hadn't been here and assumed the person I was meeting had. Imagine our surprise when we walked up and realized it'd be hard to have any sort of private convo. The specialty drinks are interesting, though I recommend they size the lattes down 25% -- they are all too milky as is and you don't get to enjoy the unique flavors of the cardamom syrup or the malted mocha. We also tried the pesto egg toast, made with the most excellent bread seeded sourdough. It was so good and reasonably priced we went there both mornings of our stay. This is a super cool little espresso shop with high quality toasts and pastries. I was a visitor to the city but felt very welcomed at this obviously locals place. In a few words - friendly, tiny, delicious and comparatively cheap place. I visited this cozy cafe during my trip to San Francisco. And I was lucky enough to get a seat inside on Saturday morning. However, the coffee shop is really tiny, for only 6-7 seats, so be prepared to order a takeout. I took a Latte on oat milk and a Pesto Egg Toast for less than $15 (which is less than average price for San-Francisco). The Pesto Egg Toast was surprisingly delicious - I could feel the right amount of Pesto and seasonings. I especially liked that they used coarse salt and fresh warm bread. It wasn't dry as I was afraid of, since they also use butter for any toast. But as a little suggestion, I think it can taste even better if you use cream cheese instead. The latte was just right! Warm, smooth and flavory - a perfect start of the day. I also want to thank the wonderful and friendly employees. Some commentators have written otherwise. However, I spent about two hours in the coffee shop talking to the barista and reading. Although there are very few places in the coffee shop, no one said anything to me, as I was just sitting and reading my book there. Thank you so much for that lovely morning! So I got the avocado toast, and added an egg. It was so good I gobbled it down and wished I lingered over it. Avocado was fresh and sliced very thin, so you didn't have large chunks falling off your fork. A little salt and cracked black pepper was added and the egg was all yolky, which I love, to slather the top of the layered toast with. The Vietnamese coffee shikatege was delicious. Had a touch of hickory. Yum. I told the man running the show, "My other meals today will be a compromise." Anyway, head over there. Why 4 stars? Because this was exactly what I needed at the time. --- --- --- I slept in on my last day in SF, which put me a bit behind schedule. While I initially planned on getting up early enough to enjoy a sit-down breakfast before boarding my cross-country flight home, it turned out that I really only had time for something of the fast casual variety. Scullery was about a 5 minute walk from my hotel and looked great, so I quickly headed over. This is mostly a to-go counter for various coffees and toasts. There are a handful of seats if you're looking to eat here, but I'd imagine most people grab and go. I was trying to get a solid amount of food before my long flight, so I opted for the avocado toast, the cinnamon toast and a nitro cold brew. The avocado toast was clearly made with love. It was *packed* with perfectly sliced avocado, oil and seasoning. It definitely put my homemade avo toast to shame. I may not ever be able to look at my own creation again after eating this amazing version of it. The cinnamon toast was tasty, but I think it would have been better on a different bread - maybe something a bit sweeter. The flavor of the bread and cinnamon clashed a bit, IMO. And the nitro was solid - definitely above average. I appreciated that the two guys working here were shoulders-deep in a very technical discussion of what espresso machines they preferred while they worked on my order. Based on this conversation, I'd say that these guys are beyond expert-level when it comes to coffee, so you'll be in good hands when you come to Scullery for your caffeine fix. read more

Very small coffee shop with limited seating inside. There were 2 tables set up outside for seating. There were 2 baristas inside so the coffees were made quickly. I got the plain croissant but it tasted a bit old and wasn't toasted or crunchy. I got the mocha coffee which was sweet (the way I like it) and reminded me of hot cocoa, and my fiancé got the burnt caramel latte. The burnt caramel latte wasn't overly sweet like it would have been at Starbucks. The caramel taste was faint and the burnt taste cut the sweetness level down. They're more known for their toast which no one in my group ordered. read more

My new local coffee watering hole. I stopped in for a mocha with oat milk and I was in LOVE. It wasn't overly sweet like S***B***** and they offer oat milk. Win-Win! I came by the next day to try a seasonal drink and got the burnt caramel latte. This drink tasted really light in terms of caramel flavor but once it cooled down you could REALLY taste the caramel and the sweetness of the drink. Too sweet for me! I needed to water it down with some more coffee. Don't think I'd order it again. I will stick to my mocha latte. They don't call out your names and I wasn't paying attention like most ppl of this generation. When I have heard l" something...latte"... and a drink plopped on the counter I swooped up and grabbed it and was told by the cashier, "that's not yours". Sorry! eek! Note to self: pay attn! I have been going to this local coffee shop for 3 years and the service / community is always welcoming. The ambiance is quiet, cozy, and great music. The latte, specifically the burnt caramel latte got me hooked and became such a regular of mine. Their Welsh Rabbit toast with ham and egg added. I am the girl who always ask for the Tabasco sauce. Mm mm chef kiss From there on, I became a happy regular. It's small, but the neighborhood/regulars could honestly care less bc how good it is. The latte and food are worth the wait if there is any. A favorite for sure! Scullery has mastered the art of the flavored latte. None are too sweet, but somehow the flavors all come through anyway. Their burnt caramel latte is probably my favorite latte of all time, and they have the best pumpkin spice latte in SF in my opinion (I've tried A LOT of PSLs this season). They also have delicious toast options which is a huge plus for me because I love a good latte + toast combo in the morning. The spicy ABJ is my go-to.
