First time here on Tuesday and service and wait times were great. Today they had a mimosa special and I'm glad I got them. I picked the pineapple and mango ones and they were both really good. My wife and I started with the fajita quesadilla started with steak and it was a great choice with the beef being very tender and juicy. Service was excellent. We had around four people serving us and checking on us in case we needed anything. Food was outstanding, possible the best chilaquiles rojo I've ever had. They even accommodated my request to have half beans and half country potatoes. My friend had the Sunshine breakfast which had all his favorite meats and pancakes. He really enjoyed it. We live in L.A. so our first time here, we were on a road trip. Don't know if we'll return since we're 92 miles away but hopefully we'll be back. read more

Great location. Easy to get into and out of the huge parking lot. We were greeted and seated with a smile, and then the wait began. It took way too long for someone to acknowledge us (15-20 minutes) , actually it was the hostess who walked by and we flagged her down, she took our drink order and said she would get our waitress. We should have just left, it took another 15-20 minutes until someone took our order. Although someone came by to refill our drinks before that. The food was good, but not worth the wait. The atmosphere is typical diner style atmosphere not too loud. They do serve Pepsi, which is a bonus. read more

The food is good. I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was lacking flavor and texture. I didn't like it much. The waffles were great. The were light and fluffy, cooked very well. Next time I'll just order the Waffles. The eggs were cooked perfectly sunny side up. They were also very fresh or farm eggs. The eggs were delicious. The potatoes were a bit soft, like they were boiled or microwaved first then fried, which allows you to get them out faster but they don't get crisp. The potatoes had a different seasoning than I'm used to for country potatoes but I liked it a lot. The veggies were very fresh and cooked very well. Not to hard but not over cooked and mushy! Overall everything was plentiful and very well cooked. My kids had the chicken taco salad and the Chili Verde Burrito. Both of them liked what they had and would order it again. The Taco Salad was very big and my daughter could not finish it. Overall a good experience. The cooks are doing a great job. The servers were nice and friendly too. read more

Our waiter finally made his way around and took our order and we never saw him again. Didn't check on us once. With how long the food took to come out, it was like they had to wait for the chickens to lay the eggs and the cow to be ready to become a tiny piece of steak. My wife's food was decent, my steak was seasoned and cooked well. The potatoes were actually very good, my niece and nephews chilaquilles were drowned in salsa and very soggy. Came here on our way to southern California. It was quite busy so we had high anticipation for the food especially with the reviews already on yelp. The waffles and pancakes were top notch! I ordered the caramel and banana waffles and wow! I'll say it's probably one of the best waffles I have had. The pancakes were great and just perfect. The bacon was crispy. Eggs are eggs and so are sausages. Now, the hash browns were overly greasy and overcooked. I'm not crazy about greasy food so it was hard to eat it all. The breakfast sandwich that we ordered was meatlover sandwich. The bread itself was just soaked in oil, every bite was overwhelmed with the oil. Ambiance was loud due to the high volume of customers. My husband and I often stay at the Marriott when visiting Bakersfield. Fortunately for us this cafe is easy walking distance from our hotel. It's very clean and the tables aren't crowded together. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Service is excellent and not rushed. The senior menu that we order from most often is very good with several choices. We usually order the Senior Breakfast that includes eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns or fried potatoes, pancake or toast and coffee or tea! The pancake is made even more special because it's served with whipped butter and HEATED syrup. That was a first for me. It's only $11.50, a bargain.
