UPDATE: Once again, our friends at Schuck's Transmission took VERY good care of us! Last week, the previously-replaced solenoid block started acting-up again, tripping the Check Engine light and keeping the car stuck in 2nd gear. Of course, we took the car back to Jeff and Ed at Schuck's to let them have a look at it, and they found that the solenoid block had failed again... so they replaced it and refilled the fluid... all at no charge to us (even though it had been a little over two years since the transmission had all been rebuilt)! THIS is why Schuck's has been around for as long as they have been! To say that this shop, and their friendly staff, actually care about their customers, and STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK, even after the warranty has run out, is an UNDERSTATEMENT! We were referred to Schuck"s from Seevers and Sons tires,,,another great shop and find....I worked with Jeff Gillette who gave me great counsel on what I should do. The check engine light was on ...and codes indicate that I had transmission problems and evap problems. Jeff advised us that we might expect to replace the transmission but to do the prelim check first changing the transmission fluid and opening the pan up to see the condition of the fluid and check the transmission. He reset the codes ....and we drove the car for a bit...the transmission codes did not come back .,..so he said we lucked out 99% would be a tranmission replacement....he also advised us on the evap problem .....just start cheap and replace the gas cap...as a first step....that also solved the evap code. So Jeff was incredibly honest and frank and not to take advantage of the situation. The car passed smog...which was the goal....Can't praise him and his shop enough. he was a life saver. read more

Schucks came highly recommended by my uncle and a buddy of mine. I burned up my transmission on the freeway and had it repaired at Schucks. Jeff was awesome, he found the problem in a timely manor and fixed it with a quick turnaround time. Not only did they do a great job, but they asked me to bring it back in 2 weeks to ensure there were no further issues. When I brought it back I had a squealing noise coming from my back tire which was not related to the transmission at all but they fixed that for free and met with my insurance agent to explain how road debris caused my transmission failure. It took us at least a month to decide we were going to revive our Volvo which needed a new transmission. We decided on Schucks because 1. every time I called with a question, a live person answered the phone and they either knew the answer or would find the answer and called me back within a reasonable amount of time. 2. they use transmissions from a company that has a great warranty 3. they kept in contact with me when the transmission was delayed due to severe weather 4. they made an extremely stressful time less stressful by being friendly, understanding and communicative. We live a bit of a distance from Schucks and there are MANY transmission repair shops much closer...we hope to never have the need for another new transmission but if we do, we would go to Schucks. read more

I want to do preventative maintenance on our 2008 MINI Cooper S by getting the transmission flushed and fluid replaced. It has 78K miles on it now. The dealer said that it wasn't needed because it's supposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle. Yea, right! That's a recipe for disaster. So I called around to various shops and Schuck's came in with the best price of $300 using MINI fluid (which I didn't think of requesting). A shop specializing in German cars wanted $650. All the quick fluid change places wouldn't touch the vehicle, which is just as well with such a specialized service. I'll update my post after the work is done. read more

I broke down on the side of the road, had my car towed to a nearby auto shop, they had my car all day and "fixed" the problem. I picked it up, for in the freeway and the exact problem happened again. Having to coast off the freeway and getting another tow. They told me it's the transmission and quoted me quite high. I called up a mechanic family member who usually takes care of all my repairs, he did some research and said he wouldn't be able to do it for me but knew a great person who could help me out! He referred me to Jeff at Schuck's. They gave me a lower quote and really helped me out. They ran into an issue with a recall leaving my car immobile they had to get it over to the ford dealership... they had it towed over (at no extra charge to me) and asked them if they could get it done ASAP as this has already been a long process. I have a 1994 GMC pickup, I am not the original owner and the mileage is getting up there. When I was worried I had some major problems with my transmission, differential and transfer case I brought it to Schuck's. I was on a budget and I was worried I might get taken advantage of somewhere else. Schuck's replaced my transmission fluid, filter, topped off my differential and sent me on my way without a huge repair bill. This is not my first experience with Schuck's. They have also rebuilt the transmission in my girlfriend's dragster and did high quality work. I know that when I take any of my cars to Schuck's they will not sell me something I don't need. I have to preface this review with the fact that I totally HATE my car but I LOVE the service at Shuck's transmission. I first brought my 2011 Ford Fusion to Shuck's when I had my car for just 6 months. I purchased the car used, but there were only 50,000 miles on it. By the time the car reached 63,000 miles, (right after the 60,000 mile warranty was of no use) my transmission had to be completely replaced. I brought my car to Shuck''s and they worked really hard to help me find a solution that wouldn't completely break the bank. They took the time to explain all of my options in detail and were not at all condescending (if you are a woman - you have probably experienced that horrible attitude when dealing with car problems). I have been back several times with different issues, but each time the guys at Shuck's have been kind, fair and very thorough. When I get ready to purchase another car, I will be bringing it to Shuck's to look at before I purchase because I trust these guys implicitly. read more

This post is overdue, i recently got my 700r4 from my 89 iroc-z rebuilt by these guys. When i called the shop i spoke with Ed and he was more than willing to answer all my questions(and i had a lot) i actually called a few times every time i thought of a question. What attracted me to get the job done here was that when i talked to Ed he didn't rush to give me a price in fact he told me he would call me back with a price once he looked it up which he did very promptly. He gave me a price and never left my checkbook open for additional parts like other shops did, THE PRICE THAT HE GAVE ME WAS WHAT I PAID WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP. this included a few upgrades to the transmission. I returned to Schucks based on my prior experience with a new transmission issue 3 years later. Jeff continued to take care of me and my car. After we had it resolved, the check engine light reappeared days later. Jeff solved my problem w a simple replacement of my gas cap. Apparently a common cause for the light, but it made me panic it was something bigger. All is well again and my car is back running smooth. Jeff and his staff have been servicing my 2007 Chevy Tahoe for the past few years. Now that my Tahoe is out of warranty and has extremely high miles, it's nice to have a Transmission Shop that I can trust! Great service, great attitude and repairs done right. In September of 2011 I had a service engine light come on in my 1999 Chevy Tahoe and took it to a shop in Hayward. They charged me 75 to spend an hour diagnosing the problem. When they were done they told me it was a major repair and gave me a quote for over $1800. I then went to Schucks for a second opinion and Jeff said he could get it done for around $1000. Saved me $800, it was done quickly and they communicated with me the entire time. The truck recently passed smog with flying colors and is still running great with over 130,000 miles. I would highly recommend Schucks to anyone. read more

These guys are as good as it gets. I had a vibration problem. And just could not find what was causing it. I had looked at everything from the fan to motor mounts ignition system carb, exhaust pipes, the works. This had been going on for a long time. I left it with Jeff for two days and they found the problem. The transmission was touching the crossmember. It was hard to see but they found the spot and repaired it. Its like getting a new car back. I can't say enough about how great this shop is. You just don't find professionals like these anywhere and when you do. People need to hear about them. read more
