I have been a loyal customer of R&C Auto Service ever since they helped my sister with her catalytic converter problems. They were the only shop who were willing to work with her through a very stressful time, and that alone showed me how much they care about their customers and earned my business. Sophie has been so helpful with scheduling appointments, and Dave is the best for routine maintenance for my cars. There has never been a charge that took me by surprise because they do a great job communicating the scope of the work. They have earned my business as long as I live in the area. Thank you team! read more

Thank God my wife found this place! I had my front brake pads and rotors replaced and changed the lug nuts. The service is top notch! Price is really good too! I will do all my auto service here from now on! Thank you Dave! and R&C Auto Service read more

I finally found a Go-to Auto mechanic shop that I can rely on. Sophie knows what Customer Service is all about and Dave is a craftsman with his work. They communicated well with me, they were accommodating to my schedule and did great work on my car. Add in competitive pricing and you have an all around one of a kind place. I never felt cheated :) read more

I can't rave about R&C enough. CJ and Dave, the friendly father and son duo that run this place are absolutely incredible. They really know their stuff and go above and beyond to help. We've had smaller issues and more involved ones too--CJ and Dave have given every car problem equal importance, approaching every issue with an equal amount of helpfulness and professionalism. We have a hatchback and an SUV, and I know both are so well taken care of at R&C. CJ and Dave, you've got a customer for life! read more

I've been taking our vehicles to R&C for several years--when they were in Pleasanton before moving to Livermore. They are very trustworthy, focusing on the true needs for your car to run well and safely. They don't add on unnecessary work. Sophie at the front office is very quick to respond and work with you on timing and logistics. Dave, the head mechanic, is very well-experienced and good at explaining things. My family trusts this auto repair shop, and we recommend it to anyone who is tired of paying too much for low quality work at the dealership! read more

Disappointing that I drove out to this location after they told me to come around 9am just for them to tell me that they can't help me because I had running boards on my truck and can't lift up my truck. Wasted time. read more

So grateful to Dave & Sophie for their help in making sure my car was taken care of!! I'm new to the area and it feels relieving to know I found an honest mechanic to trust with my repairs. Sophie knew my situation was urgent and moved things around to help me get an appointment sooner- couldn't recommend R&C enough! So grateful for you guys!! read more

This place was so beyond helpful when i was dealing with scary car issues! They were so kind and understanding when explaining the issue with my car read more

UNLIKE ANY OTHER. I came in with a scary noise on my car expecting to be charged an arm and a leg. I called at noon and he got me in at 2, diagnosed my car and was very transparent about what was wrong with my vehicle and even showed me. I was in and out within 20 minutes for my issue. If it wasn't for me living in sac this shop would be my go to for auto services. Quick, trustable, and affordable! read more

Today was my first time taking my car to a mechanic that wasn't referred by family as I wanted something closer to home. My car needed inspection for general wear and tear and of course I turned to Yelp to find places here in Livermore that had the best reviews, R&C was it. Sophie was very helpful from the beginning when I first called. She checked in with me the night before to confirm that I was coming in the next morning. She let me know I would be meeting Dave and after my car had been looked at, she'd reach out with suggestions on things to replace. The turn around time from dropping my car off to having everything replaced was very fast! Dave did an excellent job in getting everything done quickly and efficiently. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave suggestions for a couple more things for next time. I appreciate him not pilling everything on at once as car maintenance can get expensive depending on what's needed. Had a great experience working with Sophie and Dave and I will definitely return for future maintenance! read more

I was in a pinch and the gentlemen at R&C Auto went above and beyond to help me out. Mechanic was knowledgeable and thorough. Front of shop was patient and customer service oriented. Quality people. Thanks for your help with my black car. Highly recommend! read more

We've been a loyal customer for years but was very disappointed with our last appointment. 1) They called the day before drop-off (scheduled a week in advance) and said they had to reschedule because technician was sick. 2) We were pushed out another week. 3) Drop-off at 9 and around noon, they called to tell us to pickup truck that they wouldn't install after market headlights! We had already told them they were aftermarket headlights. Also they were the people who installed the current aftermarket headlights (one side broken but both sides needed to be replaced because of how system works). They could have simply told us beforehand and we wouldn't have even bothered to wait. What a waste of time! Time to find another mechanic shop. read more

I've been to R&C Auto Service twice now. The first time was for my friend's 2008 Honda which needed the AC fixed. She'd taken it to 3 other shops (not local to here) and gotten a wide range of very expensive quotes. When I borrowed her car while she was on a trip, I decided to give R&C a try, since my favorite local mechanic (Skip's Auto, where I went for ~20 years) had closed. The guys at R&C did an excellent job! Not only did they fix the AC (needed a new compressor), they found several issues that the other mechanics who checked out the car missed, some potentially serious. They fixed everything (the AC, rear struts, new hoses, fluids, etc) for *less than* the lowest quote she received for the AC alone! Her car has running running great since then. Last week, I took my brother's 2006 BMW in. It needed for routine maintenance and was running a bit rough. Again, they did a thorough check, found and fixed all the issues and got the job done by noon the day after I dropped it off! We were impressed, given the amount of work they did. The front desk is also excellent: friendly, efficient and very clear the work to be done, at better prices than I've found elsewhere. I highly recommend them! read more

10/10 experience all around with this shop. extremely communicative and transparent. i would absolutely recommend to anyone looking!

R&C has been extremely helpful for many years. For many years I drove an older vehicle - difficult to maintain and acquire parts for, which they kept in excellent working order the entire time. They also recommended other experts to take my car to when they couldn't do a particular fix themselves. Excellent all-round service and support. read more

A++++ service for the R&C staff. Took my Jeep here to get my car checked out and was hit on some major repairs which i already expected. Staff was honest and quoted me the price and had the repairs done. Picked up my car and after a few minutes of driving it my check engine light suddenly came up. Called R&C and immediately dropped my car back to them. They apologized and did whatever they could to make it right. I was able to pick up my car the next day and i could tell it was running way better than the first time i picked it up. A big thank you to the team and also a big thank you to Brayden. He communicated with me throughout the whole process. I appreciate his honesty and kind gesture. read more

The service was super fast and friendly. I didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes and I was in and out before you knew it with a passing grade! read more

Great shop. They were very professional and quoted me a fair price. They were able to correctly diagnose my electrical issue and explain exactly what went wrong before I brought it in. Above and beyond that, I had a separate issue immediately after that and they were able to diagnose that and fix it for me at no charge. I wouldn't hesitate to bring any of my cars here for service or repair and I would highly recommend them. read more

Responding to owner's comment :When i dropped off my car in the morning then I double checked on the price and i was told it will be $85 plus taxes. The issues is not 10-15$ but when you confirm a price with a customer, you cant overcharge him. Plus Kia dealership always run a promotion where they give $15 off and they include free car wash. And i never said you charged me more than dealer. I said you charged me pretty much the same price. I went for an Oil change and was quoted a price over the phone. The price was quoted after sharing my car details. But When I picked up my car, after the service then I was charged a 15% higher price. They charged me a dealer price for an oil change service. I went to them because of their service and was super disappointed with the overall experience. The front desk guy was also very rude and was blaming me for the price change. I will never be going back to them. read more

Was looking for a place nearby that could perform a routine maintenance on my car. They were quick to respond to my inquiry and provided me with an estimate on how much the service would cost. They even offer after hours drop off, which was really convenient! The morning of my appointment, they texted me informing me that they had my car and when it would be ready for pickup. They called me a few hours later and informed me of the service performed and were very accommodating and friendly. Price was unbeatable and they even provided me with an estimate for my next visit. Thank you again! read more

Sophie and Dave are great! Dave worked on my 2019 Highlander twice in the past couple of years. The first time was to replace a sensor in the engine. I dropped off my car 1st thing in the morning and got it back by noon. Sophie quoted the cost and time. The work was done in the time they estimated and the cost was very reasonable. The 2nd time was to replace all 4x of the brake rotors, in October 2023. I had the brake rotors replaced juat a year prior, by another local shop, and the SUV would shitter/vibrate when braking at mid to low speeds. Dave recommended a specific brand of rotors and Sophie quoted a very reasonable price. I dropped off my car 1st thing in the morning and it was done shortly after 1:00pm. I haven't had any issues with my brakes since. read more

Great place to service all of your car needs! Have been coming to R&C for many years to have my cars taken care of. R&C Auto Service just replaced both sets of brakes and the master cylinder on my car. They were professional, specific and clear explaining the repairs required, and the price was fair. they also noticed an additional safety issue with my vehicle and got me a quote from an appropriate business to repair it if I chose. I highly recommend them. Allene Reis read more

A few months ago, I took my aging Toyota Tacoma to R&C Auto Service to have work done on the brakes. Mechanic David took good care of me. His assessment of what I needed was accurate, the price was appropriate, and the work was good. I am a retired auto mechanic, so I know when I'm being told the truth (and when I'm not). I definitely recommend R&C Auto Service. Honesty and good work. What more could you ask for? read more

I love R & C service. My car is a lexus which has specific router for specific side. So my car kept giving squeezing sounds. I have went to the service, and they did their best found issue and help me resolved issue. It is a ticky situation of my car, but they nailed it down and give peace back to my ears when i am driving. Price is also decent. These days, a lot of business does not treat their clients in the right way with respect. R&C sincerely cares about their business and care about their customer. Fully suggest to you if you want to find a decent car work shop for your viechle no matter how much mechanical knowledge you have. read more

Needed a brake change for my Audi! Don't let the car fool you though. While I may own an Audi, I don't have Audi money. R&C accommodated that and offered affordable and reliable brakes in a timely fashion! They offered to get my car serviced quickly. I started with a Yelp quote (which was quickly responded to), but had to follow up by phone later. They were able to keep true to their quote, which was great given they hadn't even seen the car yet. They have drop service which was great. They got the job done quickly which was also great. The customer service was on point. Definitely go here! read more

After Mercedes-Benz dealership asked for almost 300 buchs for break oil flush and refill top of fluids. I took my car to R & C , arrangement was super easy. after they checked, they said break fluid is very clean and good and I will l waste money to pay for flushing it and refill, and they refill all fluids and didn't charge me a dime . I insist to pay for refill, but they said , that's part of gratitude they do for all clients regardless of service. Sophie , the lady in front desk and Joe, the person I arranged appointment and Carl the owner , Who I chatted with in yelp, all were very friendly and helpful. I am really happy to find a place with Honest people , who I can trust , and will be using them for all my cars maintenance and refer my friends to them as well. Thank you so much R & C! read more

Five stars for R&C! I had an issue with my tire this week and was on a tight time schedule to get some Boy Scouts out on a campout. The big tire store next-door couldn't help me for two hours. Luckily, I found R&C next-door. David was very gracious and efficiently got my truck up in the air to inspect all the tires and changed out the bad one for the spare and had me on the road in less than 20 minutes. Well Done! read more

I read the comments/reply from Sophie and the owner. It's always best to take responsibility for poor service. It's how you stay in business. I left my vehicle there for 1 day ( I thought). I commute for work and can't have a call informing me that there's no mechanic so it will be 4-5 days. A snorkel has nothing to do with my dissatisfaction. If you return the vehicle with no horn, etc. that's a problem. Leaving it with you again for who knows how long is not acceptable. Had there been an apology and acknowledgement of the inconvenience of renting a car a second time because you don't provide good service- this review would not have been posted. read more

Our family has used R and C Auto for several years. We started with them when they were in Pleasanton and followed them to Livermore. The folks at R and C are friendly, professional and honest. I believe their workmanship to be top notch. They answer the phone promptly, try their best to get you an appointment sooner than later, give a fair and honest quote on repairs and do good work. They have never tried to "up-sell" me repairs or extras. Another thing I appreciate about this shop is their communication. If you ask when they think your car will be finished, they will give their best time estimate and call to keep you in the loop should things change. Although they were a little far from my home then moved farther, it is worth the extra drive time to go to a fair and reliable repair shop. I recommend this shop. read more

I brought my 2010 Toyota Prius Gen 3 for some 120k maintenance - hybrid battery check, inverter coolant change, cabin filter change and inspections of other areas. Scheduling was done through yelp messaging and I was able to be seen during the week when the hybrid tech would be in. Great! Easy online scheduling is always a plus for any business in my book, especially since phone scheduling is quickly becoming obsolete. I received a quote through yelp very soon after I put in a request and I ended up paying exactly what I was quoted. The problem was that my partner dropped my car off for me while I was at work. There was some confusion when I spoke to the front desk staff member on the phone when my car was ready, who I later found out was new and not quite well-versed on lingo yet. He told me that my hybrid battery was not checked. I was disappointed and confused as to why I paid the original quoted amount if a key portion of the work was not completed. Sophie, the office manager, was quick to explain (via yelp messaging) that there was a misunderstanding and my hybrid battery WAS indeed checked using the obd2 diagnostic system, and no codes had popped up. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical and asked for a copy of the report. When Sophie explained that it isn't possible to print one out, she offered for me to come in the next day to see it being done with my own eyes. My check engine light came on later that day (a day after being seen at R&C Auto). My skepticism grew. I messaged Sophie and she agreed to help me get to the bottom of the cause of the check engine light coming on. Could it possibly be related to the work I had done the day before? Anyway, I went in and saw the diagnostic being performed with my own eyes. The mechanic was nice and accommodating. I took a photo of the screen. This made me feel better, but as someone with very limited knowledge of cars, I couldn't help but feel like something wasn't right with the situation. The P0401 code popped up - EGR valve. The mechanic and Sophie both helped explain to me exactly what that meant and reassured me that my car was safe to drive in until it could be properly diagnosed and looked at later that week. I made an appointment to be seen again at R&C Auto in about 5 days. I ended up working with Toyota to find out this is covered through my extended warranty and will have repairs done through them. Otherwise, I would have trusted R&C Auto to help with my car's repairs. In the end, the responsiveness and honesty of this shop really reassured me that they do honest work and what I experienced was a true coincidence. Their prices are hard to beat and they are very accommodating, you are even able to drop your car off the evening before service. As someone who has very limited knowledge about cars, I still recommend you do your own research before going in to get work done at ANY shop, but R&C Auto will educate you and ensure you understand what is happening every step of the way. In my case, it was truly a coincidence that my check engine light came on the day after my car was serviced. read more

Update: Downgrading to a 2 star I have been coming here for years now. But the service has started to go down recently since the pandemic. The front desk is quite gruffy and no longer friendly. Sophie who worked the front desk earlier was very helpful. The rate has increased wildly. Earlier I would get an oil change for 45$. Now it is 90$. I will be looking for another place now. Original Review: Great service. I had my car oil changed. For some reason the oil had spilled out. I went back and they fixed it and replaced the lost oil for free. Highly recommend it read more

Nice experience got the job done fast. I was given a quote and a timeframe of the work done and it was done a lot sooner.

I've waited 2+ years to write this review. This is my go to mechanic and I've had 3 cars over the years serviced here. The front desk and mechanic are responsive, honest, and very reasonably priced. Late last year, my Jeep encountered the dreaded cylinder 2 misfire. R&C spotted it during a routine oil change and replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils. When the error code popped up less than 2 days later, Sophie and the team promptly squeezed me in to look at it again free of charge. Long story short, it turned out to be a much bigger issue that I needed warranty repair. R&C was upfront with me and told me to go to a dealer and claim warranty repair rather than have them fix it. My Jeep was at the dealership for over a week where she got a new crankshaft and cylinder head. How does this relate to R&C? Well the dealership being a dealership wanted to replace the spark plugs and ignition coil as those are not covered under warranty. Why would I do that when I just replaced them? Not surprisingly, the dealership hassled me over getting it replaced through an outside mechanic. This is where the customer service of R&C really shined. They took care or talking to the dealership and providing proof that OEM parts were used. In the end, my Jeep was fixed and I saved a ton of hassle! I would have had to pay for the spark plugs and ignition coils anyways but I definitely saved $ doing it at R&C vs getting gouged at the dealer. Them going above and beyond has earned this customer for life. read more
