Transmission went out in San Francisco and needed to be replaced asap as I drive for a living. Dublin is not close to SF but I chose to take my car to Schucks. After calling every transmission and repair shop imaginable for quotes and advice I was referred by not one but two shops to Schucks. So I called them and decided to go there for four reasons: 1) they were helpful, courteous and took the time to answer all my questions without being condescending. Also, there was no pressure or stink of desperation. 2) they offered the best warranty: 6 years/10,000 miles. 3) they beat everyone's price by almost $1200. 4) to be referred there by two other shops really says something to me. They also arranged for my car to be towed to them and made sure the get this big time consuming job done three to four days days sooner than anyone else could. Got the car back and the transmission has never felt better. I wouldn't go anywhere else in the Bay Area ever again and will definitely go back there if I ever need any work done again. I love my Yelpers but I was actually referred to these guys by a mechanic in Oakland that I Yelped but, unfortunately, doesn't do automatic transmission cars. He recommended Jeff at Schuck's so I called and took my Jetta in for service. My regular mechanic looked at the car, after I was having occasional (rare) trouble getting the car into reverse. The service (not check engine) light was also on. My mechanic charged me a fortune to flush the transmission but couldn't clear the light. He said only the dealer could do that. Not correct. When the trouble started again, I called Schuck's. I live in Oakland so it's not super close but they're walkable from BART and even dropped me off, in the morning, so I could catch the train to work. They kept the car a couple days and couldn't replicate the reverse issue. The car ran fine for them. They diagnosed the service light codes and cleared them. They recommended we not do any work right now since there didn't seem to be any issues and just monitor the situation. LOVE that! No unnecessary repairs! No taking advantage! Yay for honest mechanics!!! Will update again if/when any trouble starts and we have to do repairs. For now, I'm happy to walk away without shelling out unnecessary cash! read more

The girl in the office tells you stuff to get you in the door. The service manager allows subpar work. They don.t use pan gaskets but use squirt owe gasket. Which pissed me off. I went there with a pan gadget leak... Guess what.... Month and half later it's leaking again. Was also told they would do a transmission full fluid replacement but lied... And only dropped the pan.... I don.t even know if I got a new trans filter and my magnet cleaned.... with that much deception. read more

I have had the misfortune of needing transmission work of two Ford Explorers (a '95 and an '06) and the good furtune of being referred to Schucks. The '95 had already been to a quick and shifty guy in Pleasanton and after three years of return visits to the guy it was still screwed up. Larry over at Larry's Automotve referred me to Shucks and they got it right the first time. That was about six months ago. A few weeks back the front differential on the '06 also needed work. I had my transmission replaced at a reasonable price and before they put the new transmission in I asked Jeff if he could try to find a engine oil leak I could not find. So your transmission just took a dump, yea I know, huge expense, tell me, I just dropped 6K. BLOWS! However if you want to take away some of that huge pain, then you need to go to Schuck's. Jeff was awesome fixed me up and went out of his way to lower the cost as much as possible. (My secret). Got the 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty cause I am running my FX35 till it just won't run. 2005 and hoping for another 12 years and another 190,000 miles. It was a little more expensive cause its AWD and Infiniti has all the computer controls housed in the tranny (damn progress), AND they found my front drive line was jacked, so that added to the cost to be replaced. No more steering wheel shimmy (wasn't the tire balance, checked that, wasn't out of alinement, checked that) Jeff found it! Painful find but Infiniti's are spendy. So long story short, (Sorry) take any transmission problem here, to SCHUCK'S. Hey if a bird dumps on your car SCHUCK's will even give you a free wash. THANKS SCHUCK'S! read more

I've brought both of my Toyotas to Schuck's. They are the shop that honest mechanics send their clients to for transmission work. You never have to worry about whether or not your transmission was serviced and/or repaired correctly. Transmissions are their specialty, but they also do other mechanical work to the same standard of excellence. Do yourself a favor. If you keep your cars and trucks as long as I do, get the transmissions serviced by people who know what they are doing. My regular mechanic recommended I go to Schuck's due to my transmission leaking oil. I had never been there before. Though the shop was inconvenient to me being about 30 miles away, I'm so glad I had them work on my car. They put in a gasket and o-ring as well as replaced a couple of sensors (check engine light identified them) and basically serviced my transmission. All the things I put down are listed on the invoice and I don't really know what any of them are. A+ Customer service. Fast, quick, reliable, honest and not going to rip you a new one in your wallet. Recently - last week my car was not driving well and leaking fluids. Unable to drive my car and no one open to look at it I had it towed to Shucks Transmission. My car was left in the parking lot and key left for in the morning when the shop would re-open. I got a call from Ed Schuck the next morning letting me know everything he was going to do to the car to find out what was really going on with it. A few hours past and I got another call from Ed - Thank God - it was only a cooling line that broke from my transmission and a easy fix. Like other reviewers say, Schuck's is the best. This is a busy shop and there is a good reason why. They do good work, and they stand behind it. They rebuilt the transmission on my 1966 Mustang and did an outstanding job. When it developed a small leak a couple months later, I called and they said "there should be no leaks" and that I should bring it in. They fixed it right away and told me that they made the mistake of using a modern gasket on the pan rather than a cork gasket and these cars only seem to like the cork. When I asked what I owed they told me "this is all part of it" and there is no charge to take care of this. They also told me to bring it back if any other issues come up. From my first conversation with Alex to multiple discussions with Jeff, I could not be happier with the communication and repair of my transmission (2014 Ford Raptor). When I dropped off my truck to get a diagnosis, Jeff was upfront and honest with me about the process. Once determining an issue between fourth and fifth gear, he suggested dropping the pan to look at the fluid to see what it looked like. After finding metal particles in the pan, the best course of action was to do a rebuild. We own a 2003 Honda Odyssey and had to replace the Transmission in 2011, took it here and they said they would rebuild it for 3,200. Get it done now fast forward to 2013 and guess what more problems with the Transmission call and are told since we are returning customers we would "get a break" only 2,600. What a joke. Don't go here. Find a better place. We found a place in Union City that would do the work for 2,400 plus 3 year warranty. Not like Schuck's who gives you one year. read more

I took my truck here at the recommendation of my mechanic as my truck would not shift into higher gears (t would shift into second, but rarely into third or overdrive.) Schuck's wrote an estimate for $2,500 to $2,700 for a rebuild of my transmission. I then had my truck towed to another shop where they replaced the TV cable, replaced the rear main seal (as a precaution) and got me back on the road for $600. I have now driven the truck over 1,000 miles including a 500 mile trip largely on freeways and another 500 miles of short distance driving and all is well. Schuck's had the wrong diagnosis and could have cost me $2,000 which I did not need to spend. read more

Brought my car in a few weeks ago after experiencing some issues with the transmission during a road trip. It took about 2 hours for the initial diagnosis, and I was told that I needed a part from the dealer; we scheduled for a week later. I brought my car in at 7AM and was called back about 1PM. They removed the transmission pan, replaced a faulty sensor, and serviced the entire transmission. This included a fluid drain & fill, gasket & seal replacement, and transmission cleaning. Everything (parts/labor) came in slightly UNDER estimate, which was already an amazing deal. The entire experience was wonderful and entirely on point. I HIGHLY recommend Schuck's Transmission.
