Although I appreciate that they didn't charge a diagnostic fee, I'm really disappointed with my experience. I brought my car in due to an intermittent gear slipping issue, which I had already traced to a solenoid problem--a very common issue with my Pontiac G6. The symptoms only occurred twice, very briefly. My check engine light came on both times but turned off on its own. I was still able to drive the car on the freeway at full speed with no issues. The problem only showed up during city stop-and-go traffic. I specifically asked if they could just replace the solenoid, and was told no. Instead, I was told I "only had gears 1 and 2" and that I'd need a $4,800 transmission rebuild--which is objectively false, as I literally drove the car 70+ mph on the freeway both before and after leaving the shop. My engine light was off before coming to the shop, turned on once at the shop, then turned back off shortly after leaving. There is no way my car had only gears 1 & 2 I know what that feels like as it happened twice briefly. So to say this to me is insane. Mind you wouldn't have been able to go more than 25 with out the car struggling they must have assumed I don't know a thing about cars. Possibly because I'm a woman and I went alone. They also claimed the solenoid was too difficult to access without replacing the computer and warned me about my car's mileage, as if that meant it wasn't worth fixing. But then, on my way out, they admitted it's a "really great car" and "this is the only issue." It felt manipulative. I decided to trust my gut, went to a different shop, and had the solenoid replaced--and now my car runs perfectly fine. No rebuild needed. If I hadn't known what I was talking about, they would've gladly let me spend thousands on a completely unnecessary repair. Trust yourself. Do your research. Don't let fear-based upselling push you into something you don't need. Also from reading the reviews it sounds like the routinely tell their customers they need a rebuild and successfully do the rebuild. (more than likely something very easily replaceable) However a good transmission shop doesn't just rebuild, they properly and honestly diagnose and repair. He also tried selling me cars on the way out. Notice how he hasn't replied to this yelp review and also told me he feels bad for me in the text? Very unprofessional I don't need your pitty I needed honesty which I didn't get from this shop. He also told me don't buy a used car you can't guarantee you won't have problems it's best if you fix this one with us. My husband drives a 2000 Chevy Silverado and got an error code for his transmission. He's already had his transmission rebuilt in 2017 once and was hoping it hasn't taken a crap already. He took it in to another shop here in RWC. The guy just said "it's toast, it's $6k to replace it" and blew him off. We wanted a 2nd opinion and found Legacy Transmission on Yelp so my husband called and spoke with Salim the next day. Salim was super accommodating and told my husband to bring it over, he'll try to get to it when he can (they were extremely busy when my husband went to their shop). Within maybe an hour or two, Salim and his team had already tore apart my husband's transmission and told him "I'm sorry, it's done". He sent my husband photos and had a thorough discussion of his findings. My husband is an ex-mechanic so he understood everything he spoke about in technical terms. Salim gave him a quote on another rebuild but my husband does not want to put in another transmission (even as much as he loves his truck) because the truck is old. Salim also recommended against it but wanted to give my husband the option. My husband said Salim is one of the most honest, kind, courteous, reasonably affordable, knowledgeable and accommodating gentleman he's met in a long time in this industry. He was so impressed by Salim, he said he will back by when he purchases another vehicle for Salim to inspect. Salim said "bring it on by". My truck is also a 2008 Silverado and when it's time for my transmission to be serviced, we are DEFINITELY bringing it back to Salim! We also both work for (competing) industrial HVAC companies and have fleets of vehicles. Salim is the owner I worked with. We have a 2018 Ford Focus that needed a transmission clutch repair. Ford did not have parts and wouldn't even give an estimate for when they could do the job. I did the research and found the needed parts on Amazon and EBay. I also needed to learn/run the ForScan software on my PC Laptop to run the TCM thru its routines to complete the clutch replacement adjustments. Salim was willing to do the job with my parts and required tool set. Plus he allowed me to do the TCM setup/adjustments in the shop using the Forscan software. I have a 72 chevy c10 with a 700R4 transmission. The tranny was purchased out of state. Tranny had less than 5,000 miles on it. (Never again, the company is no longer in business). It would not shift out of 2nd gear into 3rd or 4th. I dropped off the tranny after talking to Mr Salim. He figured out the problem and it needed rebuilding. This guy is so pleasant and professional. He had my tranny rebuilt within the two week time frame we discussed. He beefed it up with great parts and it runs like a champ. My transmission light came on as I was driving home from work on a Friday night and I got really nervous. My car is pretty old but in very good condition. Of course I looked online to check and see what the transmission light could mean and I immediately got more nervous since I was going to drive to LA in a couple days with my family. I brought in my 2006 Acura TL with a blown transmission, Muhammed "Bless this man" was honest, answered all my questions from my research I found on the internet. He did the job exactly how it should be done and he added a transmission cooler which my car did not come with. I have put 16k miles on the rebuilt transmission and no problems. Our 109,000 mile 2013 VW Jetta needed a transmission. Seems like this is a problematic issue with these transmissions. We had several shops look at our car and give us estimates but no one seemed to be thoroughly knowledgable nor capable. After doing our due diligence, Mo was our man. I am so glad I found Legacy Transmissions. Salim did a wonderful job installing used transmission I bought off of eBay Motors (with Square Trade as it covers parts and labor) for my RAV4. It runs like new! He even told me to bring it back in six months so that he can test to make sure its running properly. Salim responds to your queries right away. He told me to bring my car to his shop the next day in the morning. Then I met the guy, his name is Salim, he's very nice and polite. He checked my car and advised me what to do. Salim and his crew are so honest, professionally and mechanically the best in Northern Cal. We could not find anyone in the Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield, Stockton greater areas, we even called transmission places in southern cal that wouldn't touch my 1994 Toyota landcruiser transmission problem. We called Salim and told him how stuck we were and he agreed to take a look. We drove over 3 hours one way for his expertise and knowledge and within ten minutes of him driving it he open the hood and showed us a broken cable that went to the transmission.
