Great service and very knowledgeable - I will definitely go back. I appreciate the honesty

They were amazing!! Everyone else wanted to put a full transmission in my car instead of just replacing the torque converter. They saved me thousands of dollars by replacing just my torque converter. It's like the car is brand new all over again. read more

I had a great experience with Alan and the Kwik Shift crew. Replaced my torque converter for 1/2 the price of a different local shop, and I felt confident that Alan knew what he was doing, not just swapping parts. When the shop has all the correct equipment and staff, not just a bunch of parts in boxes, you know your car is going to be fixed right. read more

I was referred to Alan for diagnosis and repair for my BMW 7 Series drivetrain and transmission faults. Previous diagnosis from independent service shops all pointed to full replacement of transmission and mechatronics unit. When driving the car, I always felt like I was dealing with some type of poor electrical contacts. I also feel like others who had previously diagnosed the car had come to the same conclusion but had concern about capabilities and abilities to warranty work. Alan and his team to the rescue! Dug into the transmission and came back with not only really firm diagnosis but also reported out that the transmission was in excellent condition. He also complimented me on what he could tell was a well maintained example of a 7 Series. He was familiar with the symptoms, vehicle and solutions. I'm am roughly 8 months into enjoying my vehicle after a couple of really frustrating years of trying to find an honest and reliable place to just tell me the truth and give me a fair price! Alan, as discussed when you took care of my BMW, I have another vehicle with the exact same symptoms thar will be coming your way. Hopefully this review will encourage other having electrical issues tied to their drivetrain to give Alan a call! read more

Alan was great. We had a major problem diagnosed by another shop and were looking for a competitive bid for the repair. The issue wasn't related to the transmission but required the transmission to be removed. When I asked Alan if he could do the work he said yes. His estimate was almost a third lower than the quote from the other shop. He first verified the problem did exist and then we had him repair the car. The work only took a day and we were back on the road. I definitely recommend Kwik Shift, Good folks to work with. Phil read more

Came to Kwik Shift after Dublin Hyundai quoted me for a new transmission, Alan was able to diagnose the issue and find a nearly new transmission for a significantly lower price. Kept in close contact and did the job very quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get some serious work done on their car. read more

Alan is a scam and fraud Tool my Mercedes to have the transmission solenoid replaced which he recommended to be Done The problem was never fixed as I took the car to a different shop to check and found out it was never touched for the repair that he claimed he did,, even the fluids weren't changed Don't take your car to him read more

I have a '97 F350 4x4 Crewcab 7.3 diesel with E4OD automatic. In 2015 I bought a 15K GVWR toyhauler and on my way home from picking the trailer up the transmission failed. I called Kwik Shift and talked to Alan and had my truck towed to the shop. Knowing I was going to be using my truck to tow my new trailer we discussed upgrades to the transmission ( torque converter, upgraded internals etc.) after picking up the truck I added an upgraded trans cooler. We have now put 150,000 miles more on my truck SINCE the transmission overhaul (many trips with the trailer) and it continues to perform flawlessly like the day I picked it up from Alan. Thanks Alan and Kwik Shift read more

My husband had a great experience recently with Alan at Kwik Shift. We needed a transmission replacement for one our vehicles and were asking around for quotes. The most reasonable pricing was from Alan. He provided very quick service and was very responsive. Within a couple days, the replacement was complete and the car has been running great since. Highly recommend Kwik Shift! read more

Needed a new clutch and front axle seals for my 2015 Subaru WRX, Brought my car in, Alan spent plenty of time with me discussing what was going to be done, and what it would cost. Next morning, job was complete, clutch feels great. Definitely recommend!!!! read more

Alan is a true pro!! Honest and does a great job. I have had 3 vehicles serviced thru his shop and all went well. read more

Found this place on Yelp after getting the run around at the dealer. What a great experience. Very transparent, highly skilled and knowledgeable, and excellent communication. From now on I will be getting regular transmission service performed here. Much better than dealers who just want to replace everything. read more

Allan was very helpful in fixing my trucks issue. He was friendly, and got the job done in the time promised. Thanks! Would recommend for sure! read more

Spoke with Alan upon arriving, i discussed the issue im having with my car. And he explained everything to me in detail. A very honest and reputable business. He saved me alot! Other shops suggest replacing the transmission altogether, and some didnt even want to do anything when i said i have transmission porblems. My car is a 2006 Infiniti FX35. Thanks Alan read more

Gave em a call to inquire. Super helpful information that they provided. Really nice people.

Allan and team are experts in their trade. My experience has been very rewarding. They are professional and honest and above all do great work often going above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied. I will be using Kwik Shift as my preferred mechanic read more

If you are looking for honest, affordable, professional, hard working, true, passionate and dedicate mechanic that will try to help you get your car fixed as it was his own - look no further. Allen is your guy and Kwik Shift is the place you should drive or tow your car. I had to tow my car due to a transmission problem alert at after hours. I didn't know where to tow it to. I was referred to Kwik Shift as the local transmission shop around and took my chances. I was lucky! In the morning Allen gave me a call he admitted upfront that this car, Ford Fiesta, is not the kind of car usually coming in to his shop. But, he did all the research needed and even took it home to test drive and see if he can fix that special transmission issue, and he did it! The car was at the shop for 2 days as we looked for solutions. We, as he and me chatting on phone trying to figure out ways to source parts and possible car computer fixes because Ford does not have the parts to replace with backorders that will last for years. For all this work and time he put into it he asked for a bill that was half a home plumber visit. I topped it on off course, but point-in-case Allen is the mechanic I always have looked for - honest, affordable, professional and dedicated to fix my car as it was his own. read more

Great value. Hard working business. Top of the line work and price. It is a small shop so it takes a few days but definitely worth it!! Shop local and respectable places! read more

The best deal, best warranty and best customer service hands down. My truck was in and out with the Kwickness! Lol.

My 2007 Chevy Tahoe's transmission conked out on me on a freeway flyover. I had to tow it somewhere. I was informed that there was a shortage of 4 wheel drive transmissions. I waited 2 weeks going on 3, waiting for word on available transmissions. After some advice from coworkers, I had it towed to Kwik Shift Transmissions. The first thing they recommended was repairing the transmission, rather than waiting for one to become available in 4 to 6 weeks. I dropped it off on Saturday. They started working on it on Monday. It was ready on Wednesday. It drives like a dream. Alan at Kwik Shift Transmissions is friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. If you want your transmission done right, I highly recommend Kwik Shift Transmissions! I forgot to mention that the cost of repairing it was much less than the cost to replace it. Thank you Kwik Shift Transmissions! read more

Allen knows his stuff and is very considerate to things like cost and time. He provided frequent updates around finding available transmissions, gave us our options, ordering, shipping, and when the job would be done. While my car was there he even did the computer upgrade that was due. I live in Oakley but will be using him exclusively for transmission jobs in the future. Thank you, Allen and the Kwik Shift team! read more

Alan the shop owner very great work and great customer service. Quality work 100 percent recommended

Got my clutch and flywheel replaced at Kwik Shift for my Nissan Xterra. I have driven it for 2 months since the replacement and I have no complaints. I called a couple different places before quik shift and most places didn't want to do the job as it requires dropping the transmission and transfer case to get to the clutch and flywheel but quik shift did it without any problem and the job was done in days. When I was talking to the owner about the job he recalled doing a Nissan Frontier clutch before which was great as the xterra is basically the same vehicle. I got to see the old clutch and flywheel and they definitely needed to be replaced. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable. I would use this shop again. read more

Huge Rave to Alan for fixing the valve body and transmission flush on my Subaru Forester. Alan was very honest from the time we met all the way through. We were quoted a higher rate than it ended up being as the labor didn't take him as long. We were very pleased with the work he did. It completely fixed our problem, but also really felt great working with someone who genuinely wanted to help and not take advantage. We are happy to have supported a local business and will continue with him if issues arise in the future. Thanks Alan! read more

Alan is an honest, straight shooter who really knows his stuff. My 2008 Mazda 3 started having shifting issues a couple of weeks after I bought it. Alan did a free test drive to diagnose the issue, and then patiently and extensively talked me through options and pricing before starting work on it. He was able to repair the tranny and fix the issue, but during his final test drive he noticed it was starting to recur when he drove it harder. So he said he wouldn't charge me and recommended I trade the car in rather than put more money into it since Mazdas are known to have tranny issues. Basically he was looking out for me even though he could have made more money by continuing to try other options. Even though my car wasn't completely fixed, I appreciated Alan's time in chasing down the problem and giving me straight up advice. Highly recommend!!! read more

Alan is the Man. I have one of kind classic car that I imported from Brazil. Had an issue with the clutch. Alan spent 2 days finding the correct parts to fit my car. Very patient and understanding. If i could give him more than 5 starts, I would. Thanks Alan read more

I am glad I found Alan. If I could give him more than 5 stars, I would do it in a heartbeat. I was calling around to see if anyone would install a Corvette Servo in my 4L60e transmission in my '96 Suburban. Multiple shops turned me down, and one even ridiculed me for thinking about such a thing, they said it would be like driving a bucking bronco? (I will keep the shop nameless). Anyways, I called Alan and he was aware of the mod and was VERY knowledgeable about everything transmission related. I cannot put it into words how much he knows about transmissions. Give him a call if you think I'm joking. Back on topic, I brought my truck in and Alan did exactly what I asked, no BS. The truck ran amazing and even shifted even more amazing. Fast forward a few months, and the truck blew a head gasket and sat for an extended period of time. My worn out 4L60e lost 2nd gear so Alan suggested we install a 4L65e instead for my purposes. I'm glad I took his recommendation because the truck feels greater than ever. If anyone ever needs any transmission work done on their vehicle do not hesitate to bring it to Alan and his guys at Kwik Shift Transmission. It's hard to find an honest shop with excellent customer service nowadays but that being said I've hit the jackpot with Kwik Shift. read more

Kwik Shift Transmissions is a great shop. Alan is easy to work with. He knows his business, is honest and very fair. After performing a full diagnosis on my Lexus 8 speed transmission he got right back to me with a repair solution Transmissions are so complicated. He explained how it functions in a very clear and easy to understand way. I highly recommend Kwik Shift Transmissions in Pleasanton. read more

Alan is honest and absolutely great to deal with. This place has fantastic service and excellent pricing. Highly recommend.

We took our daughter's 2006 Lexus GS300 to Alan for transmission problems. After trying to fix it very economically, he determined it needed a new transmission. After installing a new one, he determined that the computer was damaged and needed replacement or repair. The dealer cost for a new one was astronomical. Alan was very creative, and acquired a used computer for a fraction of the cost, but we needed to spend a few hundred to program the computer and keys. The car runs great, and even though we spent a lot on a new transmission and a used computer, I am sure glad we went to Alan. He genuinely cares about his customers and doing the right thing. Great workmanship and more importantly trust, are his trademarks. I highly recommend Alan. read more

Great customer service. Walked in one day and Alan went out of his way to help us out and answer any questions we had.

The reviews for this place were spot on. I called about half dozen transmission repair places and Alan demonstrated the most confidence and experience and offered a very fair price and warranty. I had my Acura TL towed to his shop on the weekend. When they opened monday they tore it apart and found a real mess. He provided a quote which included complete rebuild and update kits necessary. He provide updates daily by text. He discovered motor mounts were bad so suggested I replace them while transmission was out so we did. Had car completely running again by end of the week (they had to replace yet another motor mount they discovered bad, else 3 days). Alan took time to explain all options and the entire process and never tried to upsell us. he stayed within his estimate except for additional parts need for motor mounts. Overall these guys are experienced and more importantly they are honest and would highly recommend to anyone looking to get transmission work done. read more

Alan is a great guy to work with had my transmission rebuilt and he's been nothing but great throughout the whole process. Highly recommend

Alan at Kwik Shift is a Grand Master @ transmission repair. My wife's 2004 Five Series BMW developed a hesitation when accelerating. Our regular repair shop determined it was the transmission. They suggested taking it into the BMW dealer as they don't work on transmissions. That was a waste of time. The dealers suggestion (after having the car for 6 days), was to replace the transmission at a cost of more than $10,000. My reply was to forget it. I picked the car up, drove to Quik Shift. Alan drove the car with me in it to get a feel for what it was doing and had a couple ideas what was causing it. We left the car with him. The very next day he called in the afternoon and said he had good news. He had determined what part(s) were faulty, replaced them and it operates as good as ever. The total cost was less than 1/5 of what the BMW dealer wanted. I don't wish transmission issues on anyone, but if you get them, no one is better than Alan in determining the possible cause of the problem, then doing the work, getting it done and his prices are really reasonable. read more

Al took my daunting car situation and transformed it from utterly dire to already dealt with in less than a week. Really excellent and responsive customer service and car service. I'm so grateful they got me back on the road so quickly and affordably. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! I had a clutch done about a year ago, I drive very very easy on this clutch too and after a year and two months it goes out; just two months after the warranty ended! So i go back to Alan(the owner) and ask him if there was anything i could do and he said he could sell me a new clutch for a bit cheaper which was what i wasn't looking for. igo in there just asking for a number for me to contact the manufacturer and he startes to get angry, as if he didn't put in the correct parts that he was supposed to. and he said to me "get out of my office, you're pissing me off"....im still in the process of figuring out how to get this bastard out of working under nice peoples cars but for now, do not go to him!!!!! read more

I took my car here after getting price jacked by all the other local transmission shops. Took a chance base on the Yelp reviews. I highly recommend this place to everyone for transmission work or just any mechanical work. I spoke with the owner (Alan) and he walked me through explaining what i needed and I could wait. His price is very reasonable and he could shave off a few dollars based on your situation. He saved me a ton of money and I drove away very happy. Not only that, Alan is a very honest man and I would go back there again for sure for any future work. Great experience. read more

my transmission needed tuneup/service and I just showed up in person and asked myself, hey this might be a good place for me to try out. i asked to schedule an appointment and it was scheduled for the following week when i could drop it off and walk around while they worked the service magic. price was acceptable and the car needed the service. i was happy with their service and i returned when they called me to pick it up, paid the bill and left. the service was done within the last 6 months. and, ,,,,,,, the transmission still has zero problems. i am glad i took a chance on them. read more

Simply the best transmission shop in the tri valley area and possibly the bay area. I spoke with many shops and did my research before calling Kwik Shift. When I spoke with Allen, his quote with well under the other shops ($500 - $1000+) and I could tell he was an expert on transmissions. TIP - these guys actually rebuld the transmimssions themselves which saves you money. Most shops just pull them and send them to guys like Allen and then upcharge you for the rebuild. Bottom line: cheapest and best with amazing customer service. they got my car done in just a few days and it shifts like butter! smoothest clutch and transmission i have ever felt. i'm sold for life on this shop and if you don't at least call them for a quote you are wasting time and probably a lot of money too! read more
