I woke up to find one of my tires had sprung a leak overnight. I booked an appointment at Big O Tires for the next day, and the process was quick and easy. When I showed up, one of the guys working there greeted me right away. He walked out to my car, checked out the tire, and let me know it could be repaired. I had been bracing for the cost of a new tire, but he was honest and told me it wasn't necessary. About an hour later, my tire was plugged and patched, and I was back on the road for just 38 bucks. No upselling, no pressure, just straightforward service and respect for my time and money. That kind of honesty is rare. Based on how well I was treated, I'll absolutely be coming back to Big O when I actually do need new tires. read more

My recent experience at Big O Tires in Pleasanton CA is very reminiscent of the TV show, Gilligan's Island. We all know the story, on what is scheduled to be a three-hour sightseeing tour on a boat, passengers get caught in a storm and end up stranded on an island. After calling and asking for an estimate/quote for the services needed and time estimate, I was told that it would take 2-3 hours. I then scheduled my appointment online for a routine oil change. I arrived 20 minutes prior to my appointment time thinking the sooner I drop my car off the sooner I will get it back. Wrong. I checked in at 10:40am and walked out at 3:35pm -- that's right you are doing the math correct. That is 4 hours and 50 minutes for an oil change. Upon check in the red flags popped up. Tone V. who checked me went into the parking lot looking for the wrong vehicle model even though my information was on the computer screen in front of him. Tone please learn the difference between an Audi Q9 and A5. He then, said, "Well we will get it done as soon as possible...". Not very assuring. After leaving for 2+ hours, I return to find out that service on my vehicle had not started until 2.5 hours AFTER I dropped it off. In addition to the timing issues, I'm then informed that they ended up unscrewing the transition fluid drain instead of the oil drain and ended up flushing out all the transmission fluid instead of the oil and had to correct that mistake. It's a bit alarming that they did not have the knowledge that European car models do not have dip sticks to detect oil levels (it is done through the electronic sensors in the car). When FINALLY getting my vehicle back almost 5 hours later, I was disappointed at the cleanliness of my car. Brown grease smudges/fingerprints along the hood, passenger door handle and along the bottom of the car. When cleaning off my steering wheel with a tissue it was covered in brown grease. The interior also had a very strong smell-- like car fluid/grease/auto body shop smell which lasted for a couple days. Also in my observation (as I was stuck/confined there for hours), it appears that this location in Pleasanton typically has customers that are "regulars" from the area and the staff caters to them with preferential treatment. In addition, it seems some staff members may not be used to dealing with female customers as I found it hard to make eye contact with the some of the staff to get updates on my car and felt like I was completely invisible. The only staff member that was understanding of my frustration and gave me an update was the guy that ultimately finalized my check out. A week later and I am still confused and disappointed about what really transpired that day. From appointments not being honored, poor time management, lack of attention to detail, poor customer service, lack of respect to return vehicles to customers in the same condition and most importanty having to wait almost 5 hours for basic servicing is mind boggling. I would only recommend taking your car to the Pleasanton location if you have an entire day that you don't mind wasting, like being ignored, want to question the level of service you are getting and want to pay for cleaning/detailing afterwards. read more

Got 4 new tires there today and alignment. Apparently $1500 does not include air in tires. I drove off the lot because there is no where to park or stop (the parking lot is a cluster) with 12 psi in one tire and 37 in another. Unbelievable they wouldn't check before handing off to customer. read more

Terrible customer service. Wife came here to have a tire replaced from the original set purchased at Big O Tires. The staff immediately told her they couldn't help and she had the tires longer than she actually did. They literally laughed at her and teased her for it, then she called the original Big O Tires where she bought the tires and they verified she was right. I spoke to the manager Jim, who kept changing his statements to dodge the facts & any obligation to provide customer service. Jim said he wouldn't go through it with me. When I called him out on being manipulative, he said he was done talking to me. I asked for his manager and he said there was nobody above him, but then admitted there was, so I asked to speak to the owner and he ended the call. Multiple audacious comments made by Jim that are shameful from a business/customer service perspective. Even his coworker admitted to my wife they judged her b/c she was a woman and they assumed she didn't know what she was talking about. Terrible look for Big O Tires and unfortunate. The shop in Pittsburg provides excellent customer service. read more

The overall service is good. The staff is polite. For my Tesla model 3, they shared the Actual vs Specified Range for tire alignment (See attached). The specified range did not match that on the actual Tesla service manual webpage for model 3. https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/2024/en-us/GUID-E3666B22-8266-4699-8892-3BA9F885D764.html Do they do this as a standard practice to gain more alignment work and $$$? I don't know. They said, our alignments are accepted by insurance companies and others. May be so. That does not disprove the discrepancy we see as stated above. I don't want to invest $190 for tire alignment that is not necessary. This note is more of an opportunity for Big O, Pleasanton to review and reconcile. Hope they will do so and provide any reasonable clarification here if necessary. Big O, please do not counter here just for the sake of it. The place is trustworthy and agents very friendly. Quality of work is great but in my last visit I was told the work takes 1-1/2 hour and I returned after 1 1/2 hour and mg car was still not attended. Took another extra hour. Hopefully it was only a glitch. read more

Watch out for hidden charges..... apparently buying 4 new tires doesn't include alignment.

Watch your bill as they really seem to want your money. Their service and pricing are just so so (higher than americas tire). But watch out as they will add on extras without telling you and try to sneak it by you. If you have the choice go to America's Tire instead as it's a more honest business. read more

From out of town & was desperate for service. Worker hung up on us mid conversation while discussing prices !! Extremely rude.

Always great employees and quick service. The owner and manager are so friendly and knowledgeable. I always get my tires here.

I spent a lot of money on tires. I bought exactly 5 to 6 tires a couple years ago from big O and they would not honor anything. It was all my fault and I think it was because I was a woman I felt taken advantage of so I will not go there again. read more

You just can't be our local big O tires for service, professionalism, friendliness! I've been coming to this location for almost 12 years and I'm always impressed by how consistently great the service is here! A lot of people will write a bad review and being a business when they don't get what they want from it. Big O in Pleasanton always delivers! Their service professionals are just so friendly and wonderful. I'm always greeted with a smile when I enter. I have peace of mind knowing my vehicle is safe to drive. I've been coming to this location for a few years now and I recently had a lot of issues with the sensors on my tires. The staff did such a great job ensuring the issue was 100% fixed. Eddie was especially helpful in the explanation of what needed to be fixed and how they were going to fix it. It's always intimidating going to mechanic shops by myself a young woman but they are so nice and helpful! read more

Our family has used them for years. This morning I showed up with a flat tire. I have a crucial appointment at 10:30 in another city. Not if you value your family's safety. Verbal (3 times) and written agreement that when new brake rotors were installed that 10 NEW torque to yield bolts would be used to ensure that the axles would not fall out. Per Ford, these bolts may NEVER be reused due to safety issues. I discovered today that old original bolts were reinstalled, despite this company's repeated assurances. I later had rotors inspected and photographed showing old bolts were used endangering our family. "Torque-to-yield (TTY) bolts are intended for single-use. When a bolt has yielded, it has plastic deformation and should not be reused in a critical application." FORD MOTOR CO. read more

Great service! I called Big O Pleasanton store and got Josh right away yesterday. We wanted to get our Ram 1500 leveled with new spring bump stops for towing. We asked Josh what our options were and he spent some time researching and came back with a couple ideas and the quotes to go with it. We picked the best one and the next day his crew took care of us. They did the spacer inserts and a new alignment in just a few hours. The truck looks exactly how we wanted it to and is now the perfect height for the suspension enhancement bump stops that were recently installed. 2.5" front 1.5" rear leveling read more

They do outstanding work: very efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and, added plus, timely Came into shop at 10 am with my 2017 Sienna to check on brake related noises. After free inspection, I was told what needed to be done on the vehicle. I said go ahead and do the work. They said they'd have to order the part and then work on it. At this point i was told that it would be maybe two or three hours later, after the order parts were gotten. I told him I was running on a very tight schedule. I needed to be somewhere by three. They were shooting for completing it by 2:30 but by 11:30 I got the call that it was done Outstanding I've done business for years read more

Car returned in horrible condition, employees intentionally rubbed oil into my leather steering wheel! Very immature, unprofessional, and just ridiculous. I had brought my car in to this location in February and spent around $1500 for a tune up, alignment, two new tires etc. Not sure if they even looked at my car after putting on new tires because it wasn't aligned. Fast forward to now, I ended up bringing it back last week because one of my new tires (which were $129 each and had a warranty) split in half. They told me they could patch it up for me and said they would take a look at the alignment again, which they definitely didn't do this time. Staff are lazy and don't seem to know a much about vehicle repair or customer service. When I got back to my car I was shocked that the people I trusted with my car not only blew off what I was telling them but took the time to destroy my steering wheel and surrounding areas with dirt and oil. Completely unacceptable and illegal according to BBB. Would never recommend BIG O or return to any of their locations. Wish I could get my money back, as they didn't service my car, just tampered with it. read more

I called in on Thursday and made an appointment for 1pm Saturday for an oil change and he said it would take under an hour. On Saturday I showed up exactly at 1pm. The person at the counter said there was no appointment in the system and therefore he can't honor the appointment and the oil change would take 3 hours. I am very behind with work and a personal project and had already wasted about 5 hours of my life trying to get a simple oil change appointment (in fact I have been looking at oil change appointments for about a month now) so I couldn't afford another 3-4 hours of lost time. I double checked my phone and confirmed I did call the correct location last Thursday. Maybe they need to check their recorded calls where they will find irrefutable evidence that I was told I had made an appointment for 1pm Saturday. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Bvy1b75mS0TT78VdI2DItNDFvlsYw_hV/view?usp=drivesdk I am, as of now, still trying to find a place that can do a simple oil change in less than an hour and costs less than $90, which is just crazy to me because this is a service which is conducted in 10 minutes and supposed to cost $25 just about everywhere in California other than the bay Area. read more

I used to use Big O Tires back when I lived in Pleasanton (once for an oil change, once for a flat tire, once for a tire rotation), and everything was professionally done and costs were fine. But I really appreciate a recent experience, which I want to call out here. I actually don't live in Pleasanton anymore, but I happened to be driving by the area on the first leg of a road trip, when a dreaded dash light turned on, saying "TPMS". I wasn't sure what that was, but time was tight and I was worried that I was going to have to abort the trip if my car needed work. I called Big O Tires, and despite the fact they were fully booked through the day, they said I could swing on by and would take a quick look. When I showed up, they had a technician do a super quick check of the car who explained to me what the error meant as well as why I was getting it (my tire sensors were getting very old and the one on my back right tire was apparently the first of the four ready to give up the ghost). They told me what this meant (if the sensor died and then I got a flat, I wouldn't get notified), but they also assured me that with the battery remaining for the trip ahead I should be fine, which was a huge relief for me. Within an hour of first seeing the light on my dash and pulling over, I was back on the road. They didn't charge anything and yet provided excellent, friendly advice. Even though they were busy, they prioritized me so I could get in and out. I was able to make the trip with no problems and a huge load taken off my shoulders. Thank you! read more

My go to tire shop. I've been getting my oil changed there and general automative service.

Took my 2005 Mustang in for brakes, that was in 2017. Lately my brakes have felt mushy and soft. Taking too long to completely stop. Took my car into Firestone Car Care in Milpitas. They said I had 80% pads on the front and 60% on the back. Yet my car was not stopping correctly. Find out Big O Tires of Pleasanton, put the wrong type of brakes on my car. I had to replace the pads and the rotors. Not even 8K miles on the those brakes. I'm not very happy with Big O Tires of Pleasanton CA. Their error could have cost my life. read more

Update: Had to come in again. Had a pice of metal in the tire. Chevy told us we needed a new tire as it couldn't be repaired because of where the price of metal was located. I came here and Jim took a look. He said, let's see if the metal even penetrated the tire. Maybe we can patch it! Guess what! Thank you Jim for being honest! . The metal didn't even penetrate the tire. No cost! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You will always have a customer! Original Post: Great customer service! Walk in and feel very welcomed.
