If I could give Old Town Auto Care zero stars, I would. Save your time, your money, and your sanity, and take your vehicle anywhere else. In October, we paid a $1,600 deposit to have a rear differential replaced, followed by a final payment of $2,804.12 on November 25th. When we picked up the vehicle last week February 11, 2026 (yes they held our vehicle for months), it was still making the exact same noise as the day it was dropped off. We immediately did a ride-along with their own mechanic, who confirmed the issue was still present. Because they were entirely unable to fix the vehicle despite being paid in full, their mechanic explicitly stated that if we took it to another shop, Old Town Auto Care would refund the cost of the repair. We took the vehicle to a second, competent shop. They completely repaired it and confirmed that the rear differential did indeed need replacement, which was the exact work Old Town Auto Care charged us over $4,400 for but utterly failed to perform. We returned to Old Town Auto Care with undeniable proof: the new invoice, the actual old part, and a letter from the second shop. Despite their blatant failure to do the job and their own mechanic's verbal promise, management is now outright refusing to issue the promised partial refund of $1,900. I have included pictures of my credit card charges from Old Town Auto Care as well as the invoice form the different competent shop who confirmed and fixed the problem as proof. They will take your money, fail to fix your car, and then refuse to make it right even when presented with hard evidence of their incompetence. Do yourself a favor and avoid Old Town Auto Care at all costs. read more

I really wanted to like this place and the nice woman at the front desk said they needed customers and I was excited to be a returning one. Called them when I needed an alignment at the last minute before a road trip. They said they could do it no problem so I took it in and was told it would probably be done around 5:00 which is their closing time. When I return to pick it up I was told that they couldn't get one of the eccentric bolts loose to adjust camber. By the time I got home I noticed that my steering wheel was a quarter turn off meaning it was turned sideways in order to drive straight. Then I look at my wheel which was pointing out at the top about an inch and in at the bottom an inch. I still had to leave for a road trip in the morning and like I said they were already closed when I picked it up. So I drove to Washington the next morning and by the time I got back from that trip a brand new tire was mostly ruined. Furthermore the suspension was making all kinds of clunking noises and I wasn't even sure if it was safe to drive on. So I called them told them exactly what happened with the steering wheel the clunking noises the wheel and you would think that they would be eager to correct the mistake for liability reasons if nothing else. But I was told they didn't have an opening until next week. So next week I go in on the day and time that she suggested and she said they were too busy today try coming in at the end of the week. I took it to a shop down the street that adjusted everything correctly had no issues doing it, corrected the steering wheel the clunking noise, and alignment itself all for half the price of what this place charged me. As far as I'm concerned they put my life in danger and we're too lazy or it was too late in the day for them to finish the job so they just said I had a seized bolt. If they want to buy me a new tire id be happy to take this down. read more

I had an appointment to drop off a vehicle at 9 AM when the shop opens. I arrived at 9 and no one was there. There were laminated signs posted on the door saying they are not at the shop yet and they commute. It also said to drop keys in the drop box. I asked the guy at Supreme Auto Film next door what time they get in, he said around 9:30. I stayed until 9:27 AM before leaving. What is the point of having the hours of operation starting at 9 AM when you are going to be 30 minutes late?? I had to take time away from work (that I am on time to) to have work done on my vehicle. When making appointments, someone should be there to take it and explain the work to be done. Most importantly give a written, itemized estimate according to California law. The fact that the signs are laminated tells me that this is a normal thing. Getting to work on time is not hard. Everybody commutes to work. Grown adults should know time management to open up on time. If they can't even do that, I would not trust them to touch anything of mine. Disrepectful. I came here for an oil change and I was helped on the same day and it was done roughly about 40 minutes, which was great! Location: in the middle downtown of Pleasanton, which is a good safe neighborhood, just a little far for me even though I work in PLS but its not right off the freeway, i wish... Pricing: for full synthetic oil change, I think it was under $60, which was great deal nowadays, everywhere else was quite pricey for some reasons. I brought in my Mazda 5 going on 6 months now and all I can say it's running like a champ. Inside filter replaced, back brakes done, the technicians where even honest enough to say that my shocks where still in working condition when I thought they needed to be replaced. I drove to Pleasanton from Los Angeles this past Friday, and during my trek, I noticed that my Nissan Sentra's check engine light had popped on. My windshield wiper water pump was also not working, so I figured these guys would be able to help, once I had arrived into town. I did call one other mechanic beforehand, but because they knew they wouldn't be able to do anything for the windshield wiper situation, they recommended Old Town. I called when they opened, and John was so kind to squeeze me in for the morning. I told him I was on my way from LA and that I'd be there in an hour and a half. John and his team were excellent, friendly, and knowledgable. Their main concern was that I be able to safely drive back to LA, which I thought was very nice of them to vocalize. John worked with me on the pricing details for their service, and I headed to an appointment. When I returned, they luckily found nothing wrong with my car, but they did inform me that I needed a new windshield washer reservoir, which they wouldn't be able to get in until Monday. Since I was leaving Sunday, I made a note to take care of this back home instead. John even gave me a ballpark figure for what I might expect to pay for a replacement reservoir. DO NOT COME HERE. I WAS SCAMMED. They quoted me $330 for - replacing the passenger side inner fender liner - fixing my windshield wiper fluid connection I checked with another shop in Fremont which quoted me $450 for the same service. I called Old Town and said I wanted to go with them, since they were cheaper. I verified verbally over the phone that they would perform both services for 330, since it was significantly cheaper than the Fremont shop. They assured me both services would be performed for $330. They then collected my payment of $330 on the phone ahead of time by charging my credit card. Later that week, I get my car serviced. When they present me with the invoice, it was a charge of $330 for ONLY the fender liner replacement. They once again assured me they would fix up my windshield wiper connection once they were able to get the part. 1 month later, after multiple times checking up, they said they can't fix my windshield wiper connection. Or I they would have to charge me $1000+ for it to get fixed. NEVER put down a deposit or payment without an invoice in writing ahead of time. After days of ignoring me ( maybe attending to his many other customers, they refused to give quote , instead wanting $77 for a quote . Funny Yelp starts out with " get a quote " . Had an odd electrical issue with my Grand Cherokee that was preventing it from starting. Initially we thought it just needed a new battery. After that didn't solve the problem, i took it to a dealership mechanic and received suspect advice. Jason @ Old Town personally scoured the system to trace the issue to a bad sensor that was throwing off the starter and battery. He worked thoroughly through it and didn't overcharge me vs his original estimate despite requiring many more hours of work on his part. On top of that, the tow company had left the window open in the rain when they had dropped it off. Jason worked with the tow company to have them dry it out and detail the entire interior. i took my 1977 jeep in for a leaking master cylinder & tune up. the master cylinder was incorrectly installed and caused my brakes to me locked up on my entire drive to tahoe. when i arrived in tahoe i brought it to a local mechanic and the damage was devastating. not only did i need a new correctly installed master cylinder, i needed new pads & rotors since they were locked on the entire trip. the local mechanic in tahoe also realized that old town auto care had left a lug nut of each of my wheels which really shows a lack of safety for their customers. as far as the tune up, they didnt even attempt it. air cleaner was corroding and nothing was changed. when speaking with john he said he would refund me $800 for the inital bill as well as the $1500 i spent for the mechanic to fix the damage and unsafe work the did the first time. after reaching out multiple times for the agreed upon settlement they have told me to "f off" (twice) and that he was done talking with me on the matter. i have brought 2 of my other cars to this shop and will not be back after seeing their real way of doing work and being treated like this i would take your business elsewhere as there is plenty of reputable shops in the area who are honest and do quality work the first time read more

3 months after the original repair was made, the smoke and smelling burn returned. I brought my vehicle back to the shop to have it looked at and they said the plastic gasket cover was cracked, causing it to leak again. What I thought was going to be a simple replacement of the plastic cover ended up costing me another few hundred dollars. When asked why it was so much, they said they had replaced the entire gasket yet again (which was done the first time) and charged me a second time for it. They offer a 12 month warranty, which is nice, but the burning smell and smoke returned yet again after a few months and I was weary to bring it back to the shop as it didn't get fixed the first two times correctly. My uncle actually took a look at it, tightened up some screws on the gasket where he saw a leak, power washed the old corroded oil that had leaked previously and it hasn't smelled and no smoke seen since. read more
