Great service at Advantage Auto. Russell took the time, even after closing, to review what he'd done to my car. Told me what did, and didn't, need to be done (yet). Quality work at reasonable price. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Russell and Advantage Auto! If you're trying to find a quality, honest, reliable and fair mechanic around the Tri-Valley / East Bay in 2025 THIS is where you need to go! Very nice, professional, transparent and timely. 10/10 will absolutely continue to use and recommend. Thanks again! read more

Think any other mechanic would have understandably said this problem cannot be fixed, but not Russell. He simply will not quit until he's given his best effort. Incredible work ethics. Honest to the core. And yes, he fixed the problem by being creative. Takes a lot of experience to do something like that. read more

We were recommended to this shop by a client of ours. I'd like to commend Russell for A-1 service. Customer service was exceptional. The job we thought was major. It was a rattling noise in the undercarriage. Russell said he'd examine the car and call us with an a diagnosis and estimate. We left the car with him. After 30 minutes he called back and told us it was just a loose nut in the right sway arm. I simply tightened it back up and gave us the car back. I write this because we easily could've been ripped off. We have been in the past. He told us exactly what it was. Showed us and asked if the car had been worked on in the past. As said, He tightened the bolt charged us a minimal fee and gave us the car back. Most garages (including local dealerships) may find a way to gouge more $ from you and make up a false job. Seen it more than a dozen times. Rest assured you can trust your car w/ Russell and his team. They service both foreign and domestic vehicles. read more

Is there anything more comforting than to have a good mechanic that you trust? Russell is that guy. He is upfront and honest. He told it like it was and didn't try to sell me unnecessary service. I now have my "go to" car guy! read more

No salesy approach! Straight to the point! Russell is one of the most honest mechanics I've ever interact with

The people that work here are amazing. We bring all three of our vehicles to this location. #1: Amazing customer service, and extremely friendly. #2: They explain everything in detail from where the exact problem is located/ noise in where it's coming from, and providing you the overall fix solution. #3: Their prices are much cheaper than traditional car dealership mechanics. IE: hourly rates to work on your car are much cheaper. #4: They provide warranties on their work #5: Out of our three cars we have not ever had to return a car for the same problem. I highly recommend these mechanics to anyone who does not want to get ripped off at the dealership. read more

Russell is great and was able to fix my car in a day! He is reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Pricing is very competitive. I will make him my go to person now when I need some work done in my car. I'm glad I found his business in yelp. read more

Nobody ever wants to go to the mechanics but as far as unexpected expenses go, this visit was rather pleasant. I drive daily from Stockton to Dublin for work and right as I was pulling into work, my car started to make an ungodly noise. Like...the sound of the bowels of Hell bubbling up from the dark abyss. I did a quick search for mechanics in the area because ain't no way I'm gonna drive back to Stockton like that, and my search came up with Advantage Automotive. Nick was really nice and got me in within minutes. Turned out it was my front brakes and they needed replacing; he got it done quickly and even drove to 2 different auto stores to get lug nuts I suddenly needed when they fell off, at no additional cost to me. 10/10 would not want my brakes to go again, but if I had to, 10/10 would go here again. Thanks Nick and Tony! read more

Advantage Automotive - My dumb car getting fixed. Thanks guys! - Auto Repair Near Me - Dublin, California

We brought our daughter's car in for an inspection and it needed some repairs. Russell and his team did a great job! The team was very kind and explained everything that needed to be done and what could wait. We were also given a referral for some bodywork that we needed completed. Russell gave us the best contact for body work! We really appreciate the honesty and quick attention to get our daughter's car up and running again! read more

Went in to get a metal scraping sound from front tire of Alfa Romeo Giulia checked. Russel saw us right away, removed the tire, and dislodged a pebble stuck between dust plate and brake rotor. Didn't want any money but we insisted. Hard to find people today who know their stuff and are honest! Will be coming back for car maintenance and refer to friends. read more

My car's AC was not working and I took it to Advantage Automotive. Nick and Tony are extremely helpful. They are responsive, honest and professional. I brought my car to the shop Monday afternoon and I got it back on Tuesday! Nick went through all the details before I arrived, so I was aware of all the tests they performed and corresponding costs. No surprise, no hidden charges, just great work! Highly recommended! read more

Brought my car here. They deleted my dash cam footage two times. If you are a person of color PLEASE STAY AWAy. If you read the reviews the two people that laugh at the comments of the one stars are the mechanics. Hi Tony! read more

The reviews don't lie! Awesome service from Advantage. I dropped my car off after hours, stressed from spending a good couple hours on the side of the freeway. The next day at around 1pm, I received an update on my car and found out that the repairs were going to be finished by the end of the working day! Phew! Speedy and efficient job, not to mention they fixed some other small problems my car had needed, along with offering to change my oil. The price was fair, especially for the amount of time it took to repair everything. This shop is a favorite of many of my family members and I'll definitely be back (hopefully not /too/ soon... yikes!) when the time comes. read more

Silly as it may sound, serendipity played a role is our discovery of this auto shop. Finding a good automotive shop and trustworthy mechanic is something I don't look forward to doing. For the past few years we relied on a friend to take care of our needs. When he moved, I was a little concerned about being overcharged, pushed into additional repairs, etc. However, after my radiator broke on one fateful commute on 580E on the Dublin grade, my AAA could take me within 5 miles to a shop. They took me to Advantage Automotive. Thankfully, they did a quick and friendly fix on the radiator and we've been able trust them with all of our auto repairs since. Just this morning my husband took our creaking car there to have it looked at. On the spot, they quickly assessed the problem and fixed in minutes. Because it was so simple, it was free of charge. We are bringing our other car there this week for a look at the air conditioning and I can feel fully relaxed about being able to trust them. Look no more to fear what you might hear from a mechanic or automotive specialist. This business truly cares and takes pride in doing good work. My five Yelp stars are shining bright for this place! read more

I had to change my brake rotor and Pads on my Dodge Durango. Nick was absolutely awesome and walked me through the entire process explaining every step in detail and giving me options to solve the problem. I wanted to upgrade the part that was installed which he was willing to do with no complaints. I would definitely put them at the top of my list for any auto work i need. read more

Just moved into Pleasanton/Dublin area and had a small mechanic problem. These gentleman were very helpful in fixing my problems as well as friendly customer service. Hopefully I don't need a mechanic anytime soon but if I do, I know just where to go! read more

Warning, DON'T go to this shop! My safety was placed at risk due to repairs done here. I went to this shop with an issue in my braking system. They ran diagnostics (not free), told me that the issue was a broken part in my braking system, and gave me an estimate. I approved the repairs. However, when I went to pick up my car, my car still had the emergency lights ON for wheel traction and brakes. They told me that for a couple hundred dollars more, they could fix the issue. Then, what were they doing with my car before...? That's what I had originally paid them to fix! They sent me home that day with $500 less in my wallet, engine lights on, and a disabled ABS braking system. What if I had to make a strong brake and crashed! The car was NOT SAFE to drive. I went to a Toyota dealership for a second opinion and was informed that the part placed in my car by Advantage Automotive was a cheap copy that did not fit my car. The mechanic left an open circuit in my braking system and I had a report from a Toyota specialist as proof! Advantage Automotive' s manager REFUSED to give me a refund. Please don't go to this shop. They care more about money than your safety. I plan to sue this shop. I don't care about the money. What makes me angry is that they placed my safety at risk, weren't honest with me, and took advantage of me. I wouldn't trust them with a toy car. read more

These guys are honest and great at what they do :) My 2008 Saturn VUE is in good hands.

I had a perfect experience this morning at Advantage Auto. Nick provided me with honest information about my service with no pressure or hassle in any way. He was very courteous and accommodating. Tony, the mechanicthat worked on my truck was equally as perfect. He did an excellent job. Overall my cost was below what I was expecting and their service far exceeded my expectations. I dread going to mechanics because they seem to always look for problems that don't exist to get the price up. Not these guys - they are honest and real good at what they do. All told I can't imagine a better automotive shop and would highly recommend this shop to everyone. You won't find a better place to have your car serviced. 5+ stars!!! And thank you guys for a job very well done. read more

Today, I went driving with a friend and noticed a scraping sound coming from the bottom of my car while we were on the highway. We got off the nearest exit and started looking for auto shops. On a whim, I chose to go to this shop instead of any of the other shops on the block. The service was great. Larry was finishing up his work on another car when I walked in, so I got my car diagnosed almost immediately. As soon as he got my car on the lift, he told me that my splash shield was loose and that he was going to screw it back into place. He was pretty humorous about it, too. He also mentioned that I was missing about $400 worth of splash shields, which I was unaware of. He explained that since we don't get snow or too much rain, it wasn't necessary to get to splash shields, but I'm definitely keeping that in mind for whenever I want to go to Lake Tahoe in the winter. I got in and out of his shop in about 20 minutes with amazing service for free! All around great guy. I would definitely come back! read more

Advantage Auto stands for Awesome and A++! My Honda was broken into and needed a window replaced, and Larry was kind from the start. He gave me a great quote on the phone for the service, and even referred me to a window dealer who could get me a better price for the part. I've never heard of such honesty! I was so impressed that I decided to give Larry my business for the window, in addition to other maintenance that I had been putting off. I was SO glad I did. Larry was extremely helpful and went above and beyond in service. He took the time to answer all of my questions (and I had lots). He was nice enough to carry my two heavy child car seats across a parking lot too! Although a part took longer to arrive than expected, Larry stayed late to make sure that everything was fixed that day, as he promised. Highly recommended, and I will definitely come back for future work on my cars! read more

Larry replaced one of my VW's CV boots, fuel filter, air filter, and spark plugs. On Sunday. SUPER BOWL SUNDAY (yes, he's a football fan). He charged me a very fair price and was cordial before, during, and after the job was completed. I can't say enough about him and will be going back for more service as my aging Passat needs it. I recommend him to anyone as long as they don't make him too busy to work on my stuff, too ;) read more

We found Advantage Automotive when our car broke down. We brought the car in, and Larry told us one of our spark plug cables had a bad connection. He patched it up for Free and recommended replacing ourselves as it was much cheaper. We've been going to advantage automotive for nearly 2 years and are very satisfied with the quality of work, and professionalism. Highly recommend Larry at Advantage Automotive. read more

This place was a find! Larry, the owner, was recommended by my buddies auto body shop, 360 Auto Body, located a couple shops over. First of all, Larry is a very honest guy. No BS and he gives you the most competitive price. A lot less than stealerships! When my girlfriend moved to Dublin, she received a "Welcome to Dublin" free oil change voucher from Larry's shop. She thought it was too good to be true and indeed he honored it. Her car is a Prius which requires full synthetic oil and he didn't hesitate to do the service. My dad also brought his minivan to Larry to fix his brakes. He couldn't be any happier. Larry even showed my dad the bad rotors. Most mechanics don't do that anymore. If you live in the Dublin/San Ramon area, definitely check out Advantage Automotive! read more

Did I mention I love Larry and his staff??? I feel so bad I don't know the darling gal in the front's name but she is so sweet and helpful and a joy to sit and chat with while waiting. She made me feel so included in what was happening and I felt a very warm reception from her and Larry. Just a really good place to bring your car. Reassuring to find mechanics who really take time and pride in what they do. It feels like your uncle working on your car while you are there. Like you belong there. Again, I was fit in that day right when I arrived. Again, I had a nice conversation and the time flew by. The price didn't knock me over and everything was EXACTLY as they said it would be at the beginning. These people know what they are doing and they make sure to help out as efficiently as possible. Always doing the extra for me and my husband. Thank you!!! read more

Back to Advantage for an oil change, $20 if you bring your own oil and filter which isn't bad, although not amazing. However, the owner Larry said my belts were squeaking and offered to adjust them for free so they would not wear out as fast. I'll repeat, free, which he didn't have to do. I even asked at the end, do I owe you anything and he said no. To top it off, my car lived in places with snow and salt for a while so it took a bit to get one belt off because of a frozen bolt. It was harder to do the good deed than he though. So far so good with Advantage! read more

I'll just cut to the chase: - The service was incredible. From the initial call to make an appointment, to the last handshake when i left their shop, I always felt like my business was important to them. - They called when they said they would, and they did what they said they would. - Their prices are incredibly fair and transparent. No surprises with my final bill - none. - Larry, the owner, is an incredibly friendly, courteous, knowledgeable guy. He took the time to explain the work they did, and laid out in plain english why it needed to be done. Do yourself a favor - stop looking and bring your car to Advantage Automotive. You'll be happy you did. read more

Larry's shop and his staff are awesome! I've had battery trouble with an older car for a long time and had a make-shift way of keeping the battery going. I finally talked to Larry about it as he just loves to find the source of problems in cars! Well, he did find the problem, fixed it and now....no more battery trouble with my older car! And, he didn't charge me a lot for the work done nor was I out of car service for an extended amount of time! Larry is very knowledgable, trustworthy and honest about his work. His shop is clean which is another great thing! Clean shop equals care and respect for your car, in my opinion! Great place to take your car for any and all automotive needs! read more

I am writing the review 2nd time, the service is really great and very very honest. This time it is a 2008 BMW 528i, Larry and team have fixed my transmission leak issue @ cost of $473.47. The dealer has quoted $860 and other shops in the neighborhood about $650. I have decided Larry due to trust and confidence in his service. Note: He has given me a $150 discount to match his original estimate. Thank you again Larry appreciate your help. read more

Unbelievable repair job done by Larry. Had my 2002 ML320 breaking down on ABS. Larry went through a lot of things, including rebooting the system, unplugging the cable, reset many of the error codes, and finally, the car was fixed, at the cost of less than $30, plus the original diagnostics cost. Amazing! When my system broke down, I have done lots of study for my ABS, ETS and BAS system. After the thorough analysis, I believed it was really obvious that the ABS system and pump was ok. The most likely problem is the sensor or the circuit. And, Larry's final verdict was that it was indeed one of them, instead of the pump, the brake, or any other part. It was relay! He fixed it, and test drove it. And, none of the light came back. And, now, my ML is again ready to challenge those new snow dumping at Tahoe! read more

I would not recommend. They charge more than a hundred dollars just to look at your car and they will not give you a choice. They charge $150/ hour for labor which is crazy. They can take their time and charge a lot. Also, they charge hundreds of dollars for parts you can buy online for less than $10. Luckily, east bay has a lot of other honest car repair shops to choose from. read more

Called for a quote over the phone to get my power steering belt replace for $115. Went ahead and made an appointment the next day. 9am came in waited about 15 min and was told they could not fix the issue because another issue occurred my ac compressor was frozen. She told me it would cost $1700 to replace everything. $1700 for to replace an ac compressor? Then I was charged $30 just because he inspected it which I saw him do all he did was just look at engine bay for less than a minute without my consent or acknowledging me about the inspection fee. I just went to another mechanic shop they did a free inspection and quoted me $450 for everything. Other words be aware might be scammed of this place. read more

I've been here a few times and have had work done, but this time around I went by myself (My dad usually helps me when it comes to cars) I feel like they took advantage of my lack of knowledge. I got $350 in repairs done, but they told me my car wouldn't pass smog and that they estimated the repairs at $500. So glad I decided to get my car smog checked first before coming back and getting the repairs because it passed!! They had me worried for weeks about having to shell out more money! I want to believe everyone here is honest and nice, but after the results from my last visit I don't think I'll be coming back. read more
