We were recommended to this shop by a client of ours. I'd like to commend Russell for A-1 service. Customer service was exceptional. The job we thought was major. It was a rattling noise in the undercarriage. Russell said he'd examine the car and call us with an a diagnosis and estimate. We left the car with him. After 30 minutes he called back and told us it was just a loose nut in the right sway arm. I simply tightened it back up and gave us the car back. I write this because we easily could've been ripped off. We have been in the past. He told us exactly what it was. Showed us and asked if the car had been worked on in the past. As said, He tightened the bolt charged us a minimal fee and gave us the car back. Most garages (including local dealerships) may find a way to gouge more $ from you and make up a false job. Nobody ever wants to go to the mechanics but as far as unexpected expenses go, this visit was rather pleasant. I drive daily from Stockton to Dublin for work and right as I was pulling into work, my car started to make an ungodly noise. Like...the sound of the bowels of Hell bubbling up from the dark abyss. The reviews don't lie! Awesome service from Advantage. I dropped my car off after hours, stressed from spending a good couple hours on the side of the freeway. The next day at around 1pm, I received an update on my car and found out that the repairs were going to be finished by the end of the working day! Phew! Speedy and efficient job, not to mention they fixed some other small problems my car had needed, along with offering to change my oil. The price was fair, especially for the amount of time it took to repair everything. Silly as it may sound, serendipity played a role is our discovery of this auto shop. Finding a good automotive shop and trustworthy mechanic is something I don't look forward to doing. For the past few years we relied on a friend to take care of our needs. When he moved, I was a little concerned about being overcharged, pushed into additional repairs, etc. However, after my radiator broke on one fateful commute on 580E on the Dublin grade, my AAA could take me within 5 miles to a shop. They took me to Advantage Automotive. Thankfully, they did a quick and friendly fix on the radiator and we've been able trust them with all of our auto repairs since. Just this morning my husband took our creaking car there to have it looked at. On the spot, they quickly assessed the problem and fixed in minutes. Because it was so simple, it was free of charge. We are bringing our other car there this week for a look at the air conditioning and I can feel fully relaxed about being able to trust them. Warning, DON'T go to this shop! My safety was placed at risk due to repairs done here. I went to this shop with an issue in my braking system. They ran diagnostics (not free), told me that the issue was a broken part in my braking system, and gave me an estimate. I approved the repairs. However, when I went to pick up my car, my car still had the emergency lights ON for wheel traction and brakes. They told me that for a couple hundred dollars more, they could fix the issue. Then, what were they doing with my car before...? That's what I had originally paid them to fix! They sent me home that day with $500 less in my wallet, engine lights on, and a disabled ABS braking system. What if I had to make a strong brake and crashed! The car was NOT SAFE to drive. I went to a Toyota dealership for a second opinion and was informed that the part placed in my car by Advantage Automotive was a cheap copy that did not fit my car. The mechanic left an open circuit in my braking system and I had a report from a Toyota specialist as proof! Advantage Automotive' s manager REFUSED to give me a refund. Please don't go to this shop. They care more about money than your safety. I plan to sue this shop. I don't care about the money. What makes me angry is that they placed my safety at risk, weren't honest with me, and took advantage of me. I wouldn't trust them with a toy car. read more

Today, I went driving with a friend and noticed a scraping sound coming from the bottom of my car while we were on the highway. We got off the nearest exit and started looking for auto shops. On a whim, I chose to go to this shop instead of any of the other shops on the block. The service was great. Larry was finishing up his work on another car when I walked in, so I got my car diagnosed almost immediately. As soon as he got my car on the lift, he told me that my splash shield was loose and that he was going to screw it back into place. He was pretty humorous about it, too. He also mentioned that I was missing about $400 worth of splash shields, which I was unaware of. He explained that since we don't get snow or too much rain, it wasn't necessary to get to splash shields, but I'm definitely keeping that in mind for whenever I want to go to Lake Tahoe in the winter. I got in and out of his shop in about 20 minutes with amazing service for free! All around great guy. I would definitely come back! read more

This place was a find! Larry, the owner, was recommended by my buddies auto body shop, 360 Auto Body, located a couple shops over. First of all, Larry is a very honest guy. No BS and he gives you the most competitive price. A lot less than stealerships! When my girlfriend moved to Dublin, she received a "Welcome to Dublin" free oil change voucher from Larry's shop. She thought it was too good to be true and indeed he honored it. Her car is a Prius which requires full synthetic oil and he didn't hesitate to do the service. My dad also brought his minivan to Larry to fix his brakes. He couldn't be any happier. Larry even showed my dad the bad rotors. Most mechanics don't do that anymore. Back to Advantage for an oil change, $20 if you bring your own oil and filter which isn't bad, although not amazing. However, the owner Larry said my belts were squeaking and offered to adjust them for free so they would not wear out as fast. I'll repeat, free, which he didn't have to do. I even asked at the end, do I owe you anything and he said no. To top it off, my car lived in places with snow and salt for a while so it took a bit to get one belt off because of a frozen bolt. It was harder to do the good deed than he though. So far so good with Advantage! read more

Unbelievable repair job done by Larry. Had my 2002 ML320 breaking down on ABS. Larry went through a lot of things, including rebooting the system, unplugging the cable, reset many of the error codes, and finally, the car was fixed, at the cost of less than $30, plus the original diagnostics cost. Amazing! When my system broke down, I have done lots of study for my ABS, ETS and BAS system. After the thorough analysis, I believed it was really obvious that the ABS system and pump was ok. The most likely problem is the sensor or the circuit. And, Larry's final verdict was that it was indeed one of them, instead of the pump, the brake, or any other part. It was relay! He fixed it, and test drove it. And, none of the light came back. And, now, my ML is again ready to challenge those new snow dumping at Tahoe! read more

I would not recommend. They charge more than a hundred dollars just to look at your car and they will not give you a choice. They charge $150/ hour for labor which is crazy. They can take their time and charge a lot. Also, they charge hundreds of dollars for parts you can buy online for less than $10. Called for a quote over the phone to get my power steering belt replace for $115. Went ahead and made an appointment the next day. 9am came in waited about 15 min and was told they could not fix the issue because another issue occurred my ac compressor was frozen. She told me it would cost $1700 to replace everything. $1700 for to replace an ac compressor? Then I was charged $30 just because he inspected it which I saw him do all he did was just look at engine bay for less than a minute without my consent or acknowledging me about the inspection fee. I just went to another mechanic shop they did a free inspection and quoted me $450 for everything. Other words be aware might be scammed of this place. read more

I've been here a few times and have had work done, but this time around I went by myself (My dad usually helps me when it comes to cars) I feel like they took advantage of my lack of knowledge. I got $350 in repairs done, but they told me my car wouldn't pass smog and that they estimated the repairs at $500. So glad I decided to get my car smog checked first before coming back and getting the repairs because it passed!! They had me worried for weeks about having to shell out more money!
