Been going there for a couple of years. It was recommended to me and feel like the price is reasonable and honest in their work.

TL Auto Repair - A fresh new look!

This is an honest review to help others who require auto repair. This was my experience at TL…read moreAuto... I walked in and asked for a quote for my WRX, a clutch and hydraulic replacement, and was given an estimate of over $6,000! After doing some research and checking with local Subaru specialists such as PM Autoworks, I found that TL's pricing was nearly double the market rate for both parts and labor. Unfortunately, TL Auto quoted $4,242.99 just for the clutch replacement, WITHOUT a flywheel resurface or a flywheel. PM Autoworks quoted $2,058.09 for the same job WITH an OEM flywheel. In my case, TL Auto is applying HUGE markups on basic OEM hardware. For example, TL auto charges $942.87 JUST for a "Genuine" clutch flywheel, AND $948.94 for a clutch kit, which comes out to $1,891.81 for BOTH. Fortunately, PM Autoworks charges $921.68 for BOTH the OEM clutch and OEM flywheel, and other parts that make up a clutch kit are also included in the price. TL quoted over $1,700 for the replacement of the master/slave cylinders. I was able to source the high-quality Japanese OEM parts (Seiken/Nabtesco) from PartsGeek for $280.10, and PM Autoworks charges 2 hours of labor (inquired after the quote) instead of the 4+ hours implied by TL's quote. By going to PM Autoworks instead of TL Auto, I am saving an HONEST $4,000 for the same work!! In my case, the price difference isn't just a few hundred dollars--it's thousands! If you work hard for your money, I strongly recommend that anyone, especially Subaru owners, AVOID the "general repair" markups at TL Auto. (See attached photos for proof of the price gap.) *** UPDATE*** Just got the work done (and then some) on my WRX by PM Auto. For all the work performed, the total was UNDER $3k! (Invoice in picture). It only took them 6 hours--straight up skills. TL Auto claims their pricing "reflects the quality of parts we use and the confidence we have in the work performed." That's fine, but high quality shouldn't be an excuse to charge an absurd markup for "exceptional service." They also claim their pricing includes complimentary rideshare and free loaner vehicles, yet a friend of mine who had work done there was never offered those services. Let's get one thing straight, PartsGeek is one of the BEST places to get OEM parts at a respectable price. Just because they are a "discount website" doesn't mean they aren't an equivalent comparison. They sell the exact same parts without the massive markup. Some businesses, like TL Auto, clearly don't like it when customers do their research and shop smart. Even more telling: TL Auto failed to admit they overcharged on their estimate for the SAME OEM parts that PM Auto sourced directly from the dealership. I'm sharing this to be transparent about my experience. I don't want others to be robbed by shops like this. I will never take my cars back there, and I'll be advising everyone I know to stay away as well. (Final invoice in the pictures)

I noticed a transmission leak on my vehicle and decided to look for an expert transmission service…read moreprovider near me, and came across Leale's as I always look into reviews to see what people are saying i noticed honesty and to me that is key, so I've decided to contact them. And they told me bring the vehicle in for inspection. I arrived about 15 minutes before they open and surprisingly the gentlemen instead of pushing me away by telling me we are still not open asked me to come in and I was able to leave my car that is above and beyond especially because I expected a please wait. We're not open yet. So they contacted me that day. Giving me a price range. And they kept their word. My vehicle was there over the weekend, the next day, I noticed a check engine light on. So I decided to drive back To Leale's they put it in the scanner. And they noticed that it had a code related to the cadillac converter one of the gentleman there told the one that was scanning for codes. Raise up the vehicle, make sure that all the sensors are connected. They could have missed not connecting one. And that can be the cause of the check engine light. They did remove that check engine light. And also they had the person that was working on my car. The day before, and he mentioned that one of the gaskets in the exhaust before the Cadillac converter was a little deteriorated, and they recommended that I change that. So I do appreciate the honesty. My car is Running even better than before, as they did not just fix the leak but actually serviced the transmission. I would definitely recommend this place. They also call promptly to provide updates and are up front about their recommendations. I just had my 90k service completed and they provided a clear breakdown of what's highly recommended to fix and why vs. others that need monitoring. Love that they sent the report via text so I could take some time to review and discuss with my husband. I also think the price is fair (checked with AI and it always fits the range for the service). Special thanks to Scott for staying late so I could pick my car up before the weekend! Appreciate you!! Highly recommend. P.S. location is so convenient, too. They scanned my 2010 Prius car at no charge and identified the issues. There would only be a fee if further diagnosis or repairs were needed. AutoTech is a great place to get an estimate, and Lauren is very responsive. I had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend this shop as an alternative to dealership service.

Tri-Valley Automotive - A classic car in the shop

This post is long, long overdue. I've been going to Tri Valley Auto for the past 8 years. I love…read moreTri-Valley Automotive. After searching for a reputable repair shop, I was pleasantly delighted to meet Don and his great team. We had leased a car from a dealer (new) and after 3 years we bought it. About 6 months after that we took the car in for some upgrade and they came back telling us we needed new breaks and some other things. I took the car to Don and he evaluated everything and said none of it was needed- the car was in incredible condition. I walked out with an oil change (which was one thing I had come in for). It would have been easy for him to rip me off, had he wanted to, but he didn't ad I found him to be consistently honest and reliable. We learned that the vehicle we purchased (the type of car) has had a ton of recalls over the years. While we didn' thave problems with ours, I did talk to Don about whether or not he thought we should trade in or vehicle. With less than 15K miles and no issues, he suggesetd we keep it and I'm really glad that we did as we haven't had any major trouble with it or problems. I probably would have traded it in just from worry had I not talked to Don, and that likely would have been at a loss. Another time, my wipers damaged (years later) and it was scheduled to be a very rainy weekend. Tri-Valley Auto is open M-F and I had to drive more than 40 miles on the weekend, so I pulled into Riley Auto Parts and bought some wipers and asked them to help me install them, since I didn't know how to. I walked out of there having paid about $90- thinking it was probably a good deal. About a week later, I was driving and the wiper flew off the car (obviously, not installed correctly). I called Don, he saw me same day and gave me a new wiper for something rediculously low- I don't recall, but I want to say it was less than $15 and maybe less than $10. I'll never go anywhere else. Another think that I love about Tri-Valley Auto is that they give you an electronic email write-up, so I can clearly see the full assessment, any recommendations, critical needs and also coming future recomendations. As someone not versed in this, it's so nice to have it in writing to so I can review it and make my decisions without pressure. It also allows me to call around for other quotes (which I've done before) and have found that the prices are spot on here and often cheaper than elsewhere. It has helped reconfirm what I already supsected ealy on- that Tri-Valley Auto is really honest, quality service and they care. I love that I can book appoitnments online and that I'm texted as the work is being done and when it's ready to go. As we only have one car, it's critical to get this information in a timely manner. I have had horror stories in other cities where we've lived where the work was done at other shops in an hour but they didn't tell me to 6 hours later- making life very inconvennient when I was waiting around nearby at a coffee shop until they were ready. I never have that experience with Tri Valley Automotive. Also, the work has always been done the same day- even when I needed an oil change and new breaks. I've had other shops that are so slow and you're there forever, not with Tri-Valley Automotive. Don is scheduled to retire (much deserved) later this spring and in discussing his transition and the shop, he's assured me that the work and honesty will continue. He's hand-picked the staff who work with him and they've worked together for years. They'll be taking over the business and it's good to know that not only do I feel comfotable continuing on because of their work ethic, but also that Don highly recommends them -- couldn't recommend them more highly. I wanted to add this comment for those who are looking for reliable and timely customer service, good communication, fantastic prices, and more importantly- people who actually care about you, your vehicle, and your safety. If you're considering a shop, this is the one for you. Don't waste time or money considering anything else! You'll be glad that you came here.
