    Alcosta 10 Min Oil Change

Its a no-appointment place where everything is streamlined and no upselling of other services. Of course, they'll top off fluids and suggest things like filter or wiper changes from cursory inspection. Just no questionable services like expensive steering wheel fluid flushes. Very happy with the service speed here, and the fact they use the correct oil for my car, SAE OW-16. Their waiting room is small but they have a TV playing America's Funniest Home Videos to help pass the time, which is short.

The staff member who helped me was very friendly, and the service itself was quick. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed that I was charged the full price even though not all of the work appears to have been completed. When I got home, I checked under the hood and noticed my oil level was overfilled, my coolant was at the minimum level, and my windshield washer fluid was completely empty. I also noticed my brake fluid was low, which can indicate that the brakes should be inspected to determine whether they need to be replaced soon. I was told that everything looked good and was simply handed my keys. Had these items been brought to my attention, I would have appreciated the honesty and the opportunity to address them. Instead, I was left wondering whether everything was actually inspected as promised. I'm disappointed because I had high hopes based on the reviews. While the staff was kind and the service was fast, I'm not sure I'll be returning.

When I showed up, one of the guys working there greeted me right away. He walked out to my car, checked out the tire, and let me know it could be repaired. I had been bracing for the cost of a new tire, but he was honest and told me it wasn't necessary. About an hour later, my tire was plugged and patched, and I was back on the road for just 38 bucks. No upselling, no pressure, just straightforward service and respect for my time and money. That kind of honesty is rare. Based on how well I was treated, I'll absolutely be coming back to Big O when I actually do need new tires.

My recent experience at Big O Tires in Pleasanton CA is very reminiscent of the TV show, Gilligan's…read moreIsland. We all know the story, on what is scheduled to be a three-hour sightseeing tour on a boat, passengers get caught in a storm and end up stranded on an island. After calling and asking for an estimate/quote for the services needed and time estimate, I was told that it would take 2-3 hours. I then scheduled my appointment online for a routine oil change. I arrived 20 minutes prior to my appointment time thinking the sooner I drop my car off the sooner I will get it back. Wrong. I checked in at 10:40am and walked out at 3:35pm -- that's right you are doing the math correct. That is 4 hours and 50 minutes for an oil change. Upon check in the red flags popped up. Tone V. who checked me went into the parking lot looking for the wrong vehicle model even though my information was on the computer screen in front of him. Tone please learn the difference between an Audi Q9 and A5. He then, said, "Well we will get it done as soon as possible...". Not very assuring. After leaving for 2+ hours, I return to find out that service on my vehicle had not started until 2.5 hours AFTER I dropped it off. In addition to the timing issues, I'm then informed that they ended up unscrewing the transition fluid drain instead of the oil drain and ended up flushing out all the transmission fluid instead of the oil and had to correct that mistake. It's a bit alarming that they did not have the knowledge that European car models do not have dip sticks to detect oil levels (it is done through the electronic sensors in the car). When FINALLY getting my vehicle back almost 5 hours later, I was disappointed at the cleanliness of my car. Brown grease smudges/fingerprints along the hood, passenger door handle and along the bottom of the car. When cleaning off my steering wheel with a tissue it was covered in brown grease. The interior also had a very strong smell-- like car fluid/grease/auto body shop smell which lasted for a couple days. Also in my observation (as I was stuck/confined there for hours), it appears that this location in Pleasanton typically has customers that are "regulars" from the area and the staff caters to them with preferential treatment. In addition, it seems some staff members may not be used to dealing with female customers as I found it hard to make eye contact with the some of the staff to get updates on my car and felt like I was completely invisible. The only staff member that was understanding of my frustration and gave me an update was the guy that ultimately finalized my check out. A week later and I am still confused and disappointed about what really transpired that day. From appointments not being honored, poor time management, lack of attention to detail, poor customer service, lack of respect to return vehicles to customers in the same condition and most importanty having to wait almost 5 hours for basic servicing is mind boggling. I would only recommend taking your car to the Pleasanton location if you have an entire day that you don't mind wasting, like being ignored, want to question the level of service you are getting and want to pay for cleaning/detailing afterwards.

Most of us like to poke our heads under the hood and pretend we know what's going on, but we usually don't. The next logical step is a repair shop, and many people default to the dealership because they think they can trust them more. In my experience, that's a mistake--dealerships often touch ten things, fix one, and charge you for everything. Luckily, I found Rich and his team. I recently bought a newer car with all the bells and whistles, and I was braced for a huge bill. Rich was incredibly professional, polite, and straightforward. I was actually in shock; he takes the time to educate you on the repair rather than just grabbing your keys and telling you he'll text you later. The estimate was a pleasant surprise, and better yet, there were no hidden fees at the end. The amount he quoted was exactly what I paid. They were on time, efficient, and had me back on the road in no time. It is such a relief to find this kind of service these days. It's nice to know you don't have to pull out a platinum card for a simple repair or an oil change. All the 5-star reviews you see here are 100% true. One quick tip: the shop can be a little tricky to find the first time, but trust your GPS! It will get you there, even if the turn looks a bit hidden. You cannot go wrong with this team!

From the beginning, I was impressed by Rich's professionalism, knowledge and ability to explain both the issues and solutions in a clear way. He was almost half the cost of the dealer, as expected. It's refreshing to find in this industry. Both efficiency and quality was also there. He even lent me a car to get to work and took the time to walk and show me the parts they replaced at the end rather than rush me out after getting paid. If I ever need a mechanic again for my Audi this is where I will go. Highly recommend!
